My garage door opener had a major malfunction yesterday and Greg came to my rescue!! Fixed my issues and then some - excellent service, quality work, great prices - he really made a potentially stressful (and expensive) situation easy to handle and left my door opener in better condition than he found it! I initially requested a quote via Yelp's "project" panel, describing my issue and I had a next-day appointment secured with Greg by the end of the day! Based on my limited description of the issue, Greg was able to provide me with a thorough quote - actually 3 separate quotes for all the potential issues that might be causing my malfunction. Greg gave me a 2 hour time frame for the appointment and texted me early and showed up right on time at the beginning of the window - very prompt! He diagnosed and fixed my issue so quickly and even made sure my opener was lubricated appropriately and running even better than before - above and beyond! He doesn't try and push a bunch of unnecessary services or equipment on you - he's a real straight shooter and it was so refreshing! He was a joy to chat to and work with. And his prices just can't be beat - very reasonable! It's so rare nowadays to come away feeling satisfied with value for price - I was so impressed. Greg did explain that Yelp doesn't always notify him of quote requests and that texting is best for the fastest reply - which it does specify on his website (see attached photo). He also accepts all forms of payment - credit cards, checks, cash, and even Zelle or Venmo! They've recently relocated the business from Monrovia to Rancho Cucamonga - but the bulk of his clients are in Monrovia and he definitely still services this area - lucky for me lol! This is the second time we've used Greg and couldn't be happier with his services! The first time we called Greg, it was for a squeaky garage door, which he quickly fixed. This time, we reached out because of a grinding noise coming from near the motor. We reached out to Greg and another service we've used in the past. The other service told us we probably need a new motor because it's 18 years old and gave a couple quotes for replacement. Greg, on the other hand, scheduled time to take a look. He saw that the belt was wearing and said this could be the issue. He advised that the belt should have a lifetime warranty and to call Liftmaster to order new one. He provided me with the model number and even the phone number to call, explaining that garage door companies can no longer request the warranty for customers and we have to call in ourselves. Greg came out last Tuesday & said the belt would probably arrive on Friday. The call to Liftmaster was super easy and the belt arrived on Thursday! Greg said the plan would be to replace the belt. If that didn't work, we already discussed the Liftmaster model for replacement as we know the motor will need replacing soon. Greg said he'll bring the new motor just in case, and if the belt replacement doesn't fix the issue and we need to replace the whole motor, he won't charge us any extra labor. We scheduled Greg for today (Monday), and he installed the belt in no time! Fortunately, the replacement belt did the trick and the grinding noise was gone! This will buy us some time before needing to replace the motor. We couldn't be happier with Greg. First of all, he's a very nice & genuine guy. I'm sure he's busy but he still takes time to chat with you and answer all your questions -- he never seems in a hurry. Second, he's super knowledgeable and experienced. Lastly, he's always accommodating, prompt, and his prices are very reasonable. When we need any future garage-related services, there's no question that Greg is our guy! read more

When the door needed servicing, we looked at the servicing label on the garage door opener, found that they (Monrovia Garage Doors) topped the ratings on Yelp for this town, and so we contacted them to service the unit. Greg did excellent work at reasonable cost, so we recently contacted MGD again to replace our 23-year old LiftMater unit that was clearly on its last leg. A new LiftMaster was installed that operates better than ever. In addition to two new remote units, we now have smartphone remote access. Greg is awesome. I've interacted with him on a few occasions over the years as my garage door motor slowly began its descent into retirement. That day came a couple of weeks ago when the motor decided to fail again. It was finally time for a new unit. Greg did a fantastic job swapping out the old unit along with the old railing system. Greg installed my new LiftMaster garage door opener three years ago. Never had an issue until last night when a bear walked into my garage, toppled a trash can, and brushed up against the nearby sensor. Couldn't close the door properly, and once opened this morning, close it at all. Contacted Greg and, long story short, he was at my house two hours later fixing my problem. I had an issue with my garage door removes not working. I tried to reprogram the remotes but they still didn't work. I have a home warranty and the company they sent out, Safeway Garage Doors came out and said the issue was just interference and tried to sell me a wifi extender to fix the issue. They also said that my rollers needed to be replaced. Afterwards, I called Greg in October 2024 since I liked him after he did a garage door tune up in approx 9/23 and did not charge me the tune up fee. Greg knew immediately that the issue was likely related to the opener's circuit board and when I told him the model, he said that that's a common issue with that model and Safeway was likely wrong. For the rollers, Greg said that he didn't think my rollers needed to be replaced and these companies use the visits as an opportunity to sell other services that aren't really needed. Unfortunately, due to the home warranty company, I had to use Safeway Garage Doors, so I contacted them again and they determined that the issue was the circuit board was broken. Monrovia Garage Doors did a fantastic job 6 years ago of replacing my huge, very heavy wooden door with a beautiful new insulated door. It was a high-end custom job that other companies had given me outrageous bids for (I think they may have been intimidated by the sheer scale of the work) but Greg came in with a fair price and took care of the job professionally and efficiently. This week (6 years later) I had some handymen repairing and painting some of the wood surrounding the door. The messed around with the bolts which they should not have touched, and caused the door to fall of the track and one of the high tension cables to snap. Garage doors give out, and it was my turn. The torsion spring snapped, and since it's a pretty darn critical part, I had to get someone here quick. Yelp guided me to some local companies and I actually had an appointment set up for the following day, until I got a referral to someone who can come by the same day.
