Me and a friend came here after church about 2 weeks ago I believe and decided to give this place a try as well since he's never been here before and I've always wanted to try this place out myself. It didn't take us long to get a seat, but it did for our food. We estimated it took them about 20 minutes to bring our food to our table. In his words. a bit dsyfunctional and it wasn't that busy at all so it shouldn't have taken that long at all. But overall, we enjoyed it. Love love love this place! I can not recommend a restaurant enough. This place is absolutely delicious and 100% family friendly. We ordered the Bavarian fritters, the loaf of bread (pumpernickel and white), their Amber marzen, the Zigeuner Schnitzel (Gypsy Schnitzel, the Bavarian platter, and the kids had 9 in pizzas. So delicious. The German salad of cucumbers, beets, and green beans was awesome. We have been to Munich and this is the closest you will come to anything that authentic. Great sauerkraut and German potato salad too. Also, a shot of pear schnapps was perfect with their traditional Amber marzen. This place is over 45 years old, so nothing fancy from the outside, but totally worth stopping by. Every single one of the staff were so friendly. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid! It's an older place in South Augusta and they've been cooking since 1974- German, Italian, and American dishes. The atmosphere here is cozy- no bright lights, intimate booths and tables, clean and classy atmosphere with no loud music, just sometimes some soft classics/German music and some pretty paintings and beer steins decorating the place. My family loves the feel of Villa Europa. The food is divine. If you like German food this is certainly the place for you, but they also serve other styles of dishes. Our favorites include the sahneschnitzel, roast lamb, and of course the house made potato soup! Everyone in my family loves their savory potato soup! They have a broad selection of wine to enjoy with dinner as well. They have daily specials and special seasonal events, so follow them on Facebook to learn more about those. Food was very very good! Started with the German beer sampler. I ordered the Bavarian Fritters. A blend of sausage, cream cheese & sauerkraut deep fried with a tasty apple mustard sauce. A German salad of beets, cucumbers & green beans with a creamy vinaigrette-came with my Panko Parmesan crusted Barramundi. Went after work with my friend and I had the baked spaghetti with French onion soup and my friend had the Jagerschnizel with German potato salad and a side salad and we shared pretzels with cheese. Legit!!! Old School German/American place with some Italian and French favorites too! The restaurant is a blast from the past and I love it that way! It's in an older section of town and I wasn't sure what to expect but it is such a special little spot and we can't wait to come back. Good beer and wine selection. They occasionally have Beef Stroganoff which is a favorite of mine and it's difficult to find so that is always a plus. Lots of schnitzels to choose from and full bar with cocktails. Due to poor planning on my part, my book club ended up coming here in November and in January. I offered to switch it up to Augsburg Haus and because we enjoyed our food and experience here in November, were all fine with coming back for a second time. The service was as good as it was the last time. I got the fritters again and although they are unique, I really like them. I went for the soup and snails because I didn't want a heavy dish or to bring home leftovers. The soup was a tad salty (but what French onion soup isn't?) and the snails were great. I tried some of the bratwurst that another member of the book club ordered with sauerkraut and it was delicious. I would gladly order that next time. read more

Another hidden gem in Augusta, Georgia!!! We came on a not too crowded Wednesday evening. The waiter for our table was soooooo friendly he sat down at our table with us and was asking all of us about our days and family. I thought it was sweet. Also he took all 6 of our orders without pen/paper. Totaaaaaally impressive to go off of memory!!!!! The food took a tad long for it not being busy but that's okay because we had lots of crayons and papers to keep my daughter occupied. They even put family guy on the tv for her to watch (only cartoon show available at the time and she loves family guy anyways). For dinner I ordered the prime rib, the veal with cream sauce, schnitzel, chicken Parmesan and lasagne!!! All of the entrees were soooooo good!!!!! Quaint little place in a not so great neighborhood of Augusta. The hostess had a German accent but everyone else had that distinctive Georgia twang. We sat near the bar and a couple of the staff members kept using the door by our table to go smoke. The service was pretty poor in general. None of this is really important. The real issue was the fact that my companion's chicken cordon bleu was served raw. This is pretty inexcusable and the waiter didn't seem to believe us despite the fact that the chicken was in front of him and raw. This place has great potential to be a four star place but lacks in key areas like speed, service and consistent quality. - Interesting decor - Slow service - Authentic German food - Average pricing 10-15pp The service started off fairly quick but then slowed to a snails pace. It took a good 30-minutes just to get the bill and everyone seemed overwhelmed. Our waitress was too busy preparing starters in the back. I started with the Jägerschnitzel ($15.95) with German potato salad. The tender pork is breaded in fresh breadcrumbs, fried to order and topped with our their rich mushroom sauce. It was flavorful and there was only a few portions of fat to cut off. The German salad had a little too much vinegar to eat before the schnitzel mostly because the German potato salad has vinegar too. If I would have gotten the soup instead my pallet would have been pleased. We tried the Bavarian Fritters ($5.75) that come with homemade ground susage, sauerkraut and cream cheese rolled in fresh bread crumbs. They are kind of like hushpuppies and served with apple mustard. A must try. I wish there were more than 4! My wife picked the Schnitzel Sandwich ($9.75) with lean pork that is lightly breaded and fried to a golden brown, served between 2 slices of German rye bread with spicy mustard. That's fancy talk for "a hunk of pork with bread." Overall this place was good and if I ate German food more consistently I might come back. For now, there are others places I need to try, despite the recommendation from friends. read more

What an incredible restaurant and meal! I was looking for some place to celebrate my birthday and didn't want to go to the usual places. Villa Europa was definitely unique and in a good way! The food was unbelievable and you could tell immediately that none of it came from a can. Very intereating food on the menu- went with my husband we ordered different stuff we were willing to try. Never had german food ever- had no idea what to expect- so it was important to get different stuff so we can try each others plates. The bread wasn't a roll and stuff to eat with it was nice and different from butter and pasta sauce. My husband was alright with his beef? choice and i got something with gravy- pricey but the place was packed and filled with people chatting with the staff and exchanging comments and stories and jokes. What a hidden gem! I was super skeptical about going to a restaurant that served distinctly different cuisines but man am I glad I came! To be clear, the menu is probably 70% German and 30% Italian. The beer menu was great featuring plenty of German beers. I had the Bartender's recommendation of the "gypsy pork" (I can't remember the German word) which was a pork chop smothered in a dark red gravy with peppers and onions and German potato salad on the side. The plate was definitely full of German flavors. She gave us a sample before ordering of Sauerbraten which she didn't recommend and wanted us to try before ordering. We stopped here on the way to the airport for a quick lunch, and I really enjoyed it! My husband and friends have talked about this places for ages, so I was glad to finally get there to try it! The server was friendly and diligent. The atmosphere was very much what I expected. Quaint and cozy. I had a ham croissant sandwich, which was very good and had quite a bit of meat on it. I had the potatoes as my side, and they were excellent. I loved the pickles as well. My husband had the wiener schnitzel and potatoes, and his food was excellent as well. We had no wait the day we were there. They were busy in the back preparing for Arts in the Heart! It was fun to listen to all the people preparing the food! We had lunch here the other day and I can truly say it not what it used to be. First of all I will tell you we all love German/European food. To start, waitress could not get our orders straight. My order was just left out. The food was very salty. The potato soup was lukewarm, and for someone that loves vinegar, even this was too much for me (Sauerbraten and German salad) . I ordered the escargot and honestly it could have been brown calamari in garlic sauce. The Grilled Reuben was so salty, as was the German potato salad, our guest took about four bites of it and was finished. As for dessert, you needed microscope to find it.
