Tried out a new (to us) restaurant today. We love German food and it's been a minute. We tried the remoulade with spaetzle and red cabbage, and the jagerschnitzel with German potato salad. It came with a delicious salad of green beans, shredded slaw and beets and a delicious crusty roll. It was really good! We split the plates in half but one would have been plenty for the two of us. Finally being able to visit again! It took several years for me to come back for a second visit but it was just as great as the first. Greeted immediately walking in by friendly & helpful staff. I chose to sit at my perferred location which was of course the bar. I noticed no matter who came through their doors everyone was always acknowledged & greeted, even from behind the bar if the wait staff was busy running food or with tables. The waitress patiently waited for me to figure out what I wanted and when I couldn't decide, she helped me choose from several combo options as I wanted to taste it all! Thank you. First, the Potato Pancakes & Applesauce because I had them the 1st visit and they did not disappoint this time either. Second, a combo of brats with red cabbage. Magnificent, my hats off to the chef! I had never had red cabbage before and I can't fully describe the flavor but I am so glad I tried it. The 3 different bratwursts all had their own unique flavors. And lastly, I just had to try some dessert when I saw the Strawberry & Pistachio cake. I love the combination of flavors! I would have liked to have seen a fresh strawberry on there and a little more Pistachio cream but it was still very good. I was also able to meet Jerry, Julia's son. He graciously allowed me to try a sample of what will absolutely be my next dish to order! A schnitzel with mushroom gravy, red cabbage, & potato salad. Portions run large so my guest and self opted to split the Reuben. Unlike others Julia's served hers with a tasty cheese sauce. Sandwich came served with choice of side, tonight we picked the German potato salad. The corned beef was moist and tender and the sauerkraut was perfectly seasoned. This spacious German eatery is great in satisfying your Schnitzel cravings. We had the sample platter, the White Jager schnitzel and the Jager schnitzel, along with Sauerkraut, potato salad. The sample platter came with some wurst which great and a pretzel and schnitzel fingers. The pretzel and schnitzel fingers were ok, what I did like about the pretzel however was it light and not too chewy. The main star of the show is the schnitzel I order the senior plate which was the perfect amount and you still get a side. Thr schnitzel were cooked to perfection and the sauces they had were great. I really enjoyed the potato salad and how it was seasoned. The sauerkraut had more of a sweeter taste, which was different for for me. Lastly we ordered the bread pudding, which was suppose to be almond apple. But it lacked both of those major flavors. It contained many raisins which I took away from those flavors. Ok, I love this place. I don't eat a lot of fried food, but honestly this is a nice for a once in a while treat. Service was wonderful, very attentive and the ambiance was wonderful too. Went there with a Veteran who served in Germany and he loved it too.....HE LOVED it. Have to say that the German Potato Salad was so good, I even thought of going back the next day to order take out of just the potatoe salad. However, my friend recently held his promotion party here, and everyone was content with their entrees, with most of us attending having spent considerable time in Germany. This is certainly the best German food to be found in the midlands. My partner and I went at around 12:30p since he had a hankering for some bratwurst. We walked in and there wasn't anyone at the host stand for a moment or so, but we didn't mind too much since we got a chance to take in the scenery. The host (owner?) asked if we've eaten there before, had German food before, and wished us a happy Valentine's Day. Nice service and nice interior! My partner and I got the hot pretzel ($7), Wiener schnitzel ($21.95), bratwurst ($13.95) with a side of sauerkraut ($4.25), a hot tea ($2.95), and a bottle of peche Lindeman's ($7.50). If I'm going to be real, the pretzel tasted exactly like a frozen (then heated) SuperPretzel you get at a ballgame. If that's the case, that's totally fine, I just was anticipating a homemade one. If that's not the case, the flavor and texture is strikingly similar. However, the pretzel was fluffy and hot, so we didn't have any complaints. The cheese that came with it was what impressed me the most. I was anticipating more of a "classic" yellow American or cheddar pairing, but the sauce was more of a white cheddar and pepper jack combination. It had a nice bite to it without being too spicy. My partner liked the spicy brown mustard more. My partner got the beer and was a big fan of it. He said it didn't even taste like beer, it tasted more like a soda. The peach flavor wasn't too strong or too artificial. I took a small sip, and even though I don't like peach flavored things, I could totally see the appeal. The rolls were nice, and I may or may not have handed off the salad to my partner. He really enjoyed the cabbage, and liked the beets and green beans. He said it was very light and refreshing. I tried a green bean, and I have to agree it wasn't all that bad, but just not my personal flavor profile. The wiener schnitzel was pretty good, but I think it was just a bit too much for me. It wasn't particularly greasy or anything, I suppose it was just a lot of fried stuff in one sitting. The späetzle was essentially just flavorless boiled dough. Nothing wrong with it, but could have used a sauce or something to add some flavor. The lemon did a lot of leg work to help break up the fried flavor on the schnitzel. My partner was really enjoying his bratwurst. He let me try some and I was impressed with them as well. He ate all of the brats, his roll, his sauerkraut, and most of his potato salad. He said it totally satisfied his craving. We were totally stuffed afterwards, but really enjoyed our meal. I didn't know a German spot would be something that I was this big a fan of, but I totally want to come back here again. I ate the most wonderful German food at Julia's. I had a lentil soup that could curl your toes. It was so good with a fresh roll and butter truly amazing then for my main course I had schnitzel with the most wonderful German potato salad and I had a brown mushroom gravy and a sour cream cheese sauce, both of them With some wonderful red cabbage. I was stationed in Germany some years ago and it has been a while since I've had German food. This was delicious! First off, I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. The staff was extremely attentive and kind. Welcoming to my friend and I. They explained a few things like their specials and what they did and didn't have (which they had everything)! We ordered our drinks and food. The salad, and bread was brought out. I opted for a pretzel (not pictured because I dug right in)! It was extremely soft and hot. The cheese was delicious! I got the mushroom gravy on the side for my schnitzel and it was incredible...and I added a little cheese to it as well. Everything was hot and fresh! Deliciousness on a plate and I ate pretty much everything (don't judge me)! I had to make myself stop with the potatoes but everything else was gone! I will surely be coming back.
