I have been to this Villa Nova 2x in 4 years. Once was for a baptism party for my daughter. The pizza was mediocre at best. Soggy thin crust. Wrote them off for the future but some friends said I had to try again. Tonight, 4 years later, I ordered a medium bbq chicken pizza. Hour later, it arrived. I open it up and it is NOT a bbq pizza rather a buffalo chicken pizza. Figure I will just eat it because it is 9pm and I am starving. I only end up eating 3 slices before throwing it away. Luke warm pizza, wet and soggy crust that cannot hold up to ingredients, congealed cheese with zero stretch, and surprisingly bland despite the buffalo sauce. Sorry Villa Nova. Might have been good back in the day but too many competitors in Lockport to try you again. read more

I was looking for great pizza, late at night, in the suburbs. Ran across Villa Nova and their positive Yelp reviews. BOOM! Absolutely delicious pizza! Cracker crust that holds up perfectly to a savory sauce with just enough sweet (not too much), and sausage that tastes so good, you'll want to order a meatball sandwich for dessert. Nice guy in charge up front, and lovely young lady in the back who brought my well done ordered pizza from the oven to my face for a quick approval before boxing. Saw this place was under new ownership and decided to order for delivery a few weeks ago. We placed our order at 6:10 pm and was told they would be there within an hour. Delivery wasn't made until 7:52 pm. When we called after an hour and 20 minutes, we were told the driver was on their way- no apology or anything. Unbelievable. Ordered a pizza from this place for the frst time. Ordered online. They said it would be 1 1/2 hours. After two hours I called. The girl said she had the order as a pickup, then admitted it was her mistake and that the order showed delivery. She said she would make another one and deliver it. Probably another hour. I told her to cancel it and refund my credit card payment. I asked her if she thought it was a pick up why no one called me when we didn't show up. She said they were very busy and short handed. Had a taste for a pizza, haven't had one in a while so after reading reviews thought we would give it a try. Ordered via the Slice App, which is pretty cool in itself. Delivery time was going to be 75 minutes, this was on a Saturday night, so possibly expected. Ordered large half sausage, half pepperoni, all onion garlic and tomato. The pizza came around the quoted time... looked good, taste was meh, considering I ordered onion and garlic which I didn't even taste, and the crust was really really bad. Outer slices had burnt edges while the first slice in after the edge were soggy wet, everything just slid off the wet crust. I would think with the wait time of 75 minutes the crust would have been cooked properly.. first and last timers. read more

Their website has a menu and when you go to call and order they say that that is not their menu and they can't help you with what you want ordered. i tried ordering a 24 piece buffalo wing which if you look up their menu that is on it but when i called they said they only had an 8 piece wing which if they tripled to make 24 pc it would cost $21 when on the website it said it would cost $18.75 horrible service and not organized at all don't waste your time here read more

This review is not about the pizza, its about the customer service. Here's the story, yesterday I ordered large half-baked pizza for delivery. It came looked good, I got my pizza peel out and popped it in my oven to finish cooking. Pizza looked great, I'm taking it out of the oven and I notice a piece of plastic mesh melted on my oven rack and bottom of my pizza. My husband calls Villa Nova to find out how this happened (twice), he is told It's something they put under the pizza for crumbs??? I have never in my 67 yrs on earth seen anything like this under a pizza. Maybe a sticker on box would be in order? Remove plastic first? Such an easy fix or just tell people.There is no way anyone would have seen this UNDER the pizza. So the Villa Nova guy says "oh well, too bad it's your fault, not our fault, we will not replace your pizza for free". I called back hoping this guy would be reasonable, but it was more of the same for me "all my fault for not knowing there was plastic under my pizza" Not replacing. Hung up on the fool. Lost a customer here and will forever NEVER RECOMMEND you and your pizza ever. So my $25 dinner went in the garbage bin. read more

Oh, how I love Villa Nova Pizza. Let me count the ways... 1. The crust is cracker thin and delicious. 2. The ratio of sauce, to cheese, to crust is just right, and the toppings are nice and fresh. 3. The restaurant itself is a dive, which is almost as much a part of it's attraction as the pizza itself--again, I said "almost". There are about five tables in the main area, each decked out with paraphenalia from each and every major Chicago sports team--articles, signed pictures, collectors cards, etc. Cool stuff to keep you entertained while you wait for your yummy pizza pie. If you're interested, they even have a party room? 4. They have a brand new flat screen to boot, which means we won't miss a minute of the Sox game! 5. And, last but not least, the service is always good, cause we're usually the only one's eating in. Aside from the pizza, the only other thing on the menu I've tried is the salad, which I don't recommend unless you're desperate. Their version of a salad constitutes iceberg lettuce with a tomato wedge, although their creamy Garlic is some of the best I've had. Hands down, the best pizza around! read more

Just FYI Being a healthcare provider I have been very leery about ordering food for either pick up or delivery. I decided last night I was Going to get my young children pizza. I called 2 places and they must have been swamped because the phones never answered ( good for them). So I settled on villa nova which was my 3rd option and I ordered on line. I called and 1/12 later to get my ETA. My pizza arrived and it was wrong there were jalapeños on it which young kids really don't eat. So I called back and the owner Cesar answered and he reviewed my online order which HE entered wrong and gave us the wrong pizza now we had to wait for the correct one. Upon delivery THEY ASKED for the other pizza to be given back to them. I informed them that my kids picked at it (are some of the sausage).... the owner had the AUDACITY to call me a SCAMMER... I have this in writing. Also the Mac and cheese bites were burnt and inedible and he accused me of putting them in the microwave to look burnt... mind you I pulled it out of the garbage to take a picture.. First and foremost they should NOT be taking anything out of people's homes (meijer won't even take a lightbulb back!)... AND the second pizza taste like shit and was underbaked. Now I grew up on the original villa nova in stickney and I actually know the owner from Cicero... DONT waste your money on this place! read more

I grew up on the Southside of Chicago in Mount Greenwood and was raised on cracker-thin crust pizza. Moving out to the suburbs in the mid-90's all the pizza was pretty similar - thicker crust (almost pan style), oodles of flavorless mozzarella, canned veggies and mass produced meat toppings. It hit the spot when you were Jonesing for pie, but it was lacking that flavor and style that I grew up on. Lockport has a TON of pizza places - some are very good (Mangia Pizza), some not so much (Aurelio's, etc.). When Groupon offered a deal for Villa Nova, it was already on my radar but I finally decided to take the plunge. The wife and kids (2&5) and I came today for the littles ones first "pizza parlor" experience. The staff was extremely friendly, accommodating and attentive and the mood is laid-back - perfect for families. We ordered a Caesar salad (huge, fresh and served family style), a family sized Nova Special (homemade sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms) and family sized double Italian beef and extra cheese (my favorite). Soda is served in ice cold cans (with tons of options) and a full bar is available (next time the wife and I come on date night). Pizza took about a half hour to come out (not bad timing considering everything is made fresh when you order) and the kids were happily occupied with their tablets. Pizza was AMAZING! Crust is cracker-thin, crispy, fresh and delicious. Toppings are ample and not skimpy whatsoever. All veggies were fresh and still had some crisp/texture to them (not overcooked to death like most places). Italian beef was laid out so that it covered the entire pizza, not lumped in piles per the norm. The thing that impressed me the most was the fact that there was an abundance of seasoning/herbs throughout the pizza - not just sprinkled on top as an afterthought. Cook on the pies was perfect - golden brown and carmelized cheese as it should be. The kids loved it (as did I, obviously), but the wife is the harshest critic so I was hoping she shared our enthusiasm. Thank God she did and we raved about it all the way home and were already calling dibs on the leftovers (which won't make it thru the night). Long story short (kind of), a hearty thank you to Villa Nova for bringing me back to the pizza of my youth which I thought was long gone when I moved South. The whole family was extremely impressed with not only the best pizza we've had in years, but one of the best meals as well. You are our new "go to" place when we get pizza (which is at least a few times a month) and we couldn't be more thrilled. Sorry to gush, but it's deserved. Also, do yourself a solid and dine-in, folks. There's something to be said to enjoying a fantastic piping hot pizza in an authentic pizza parlor that's family owned and run. Purchased Groupon, just like other customers who have left a review for the same reason. I realized the Groupon/ Local Flavor Certificates were for dine in only, which is stated, but NOT clearly stated on the voucher itself. Thus, I called and was trying to use the original value, which I payed for the voucher in the first place. At this point the Voucher was already expired. Employee's are not trained, probably because nobody knows what they signed up for when advertising such vouchers online. Apparently even the person responding here on yelp does not know what the Pizza Place is signing up for through these discount voucher websites. The "dine in only" requirement is in the fine print, which means the owner is requiring the customer to read the fine print, but he/she apparently does not read it him/ herself. I would not have left a review, since I feel business owners need to get a brake sometimes, since there is just too much info out there. However, I feel the employees handled the situation very poorly. Complete disregard of my explanation of the situation! Not open to discussion and ultimate customer satisfaction. Perhaps the customer base is too overwhelming already and the owners are swimming in cash, idk... Let me state the wording from the voucher here, so you can read the fine print and don't have to look for it: "If an expiration date for the promotion is stated, then the promotional portion expires on the expiration date. Your payment will not expire until the date that is five years after your credit card is charged, unless the laws of the state in which the Merchant is located require the Merchant to honor the Payment for longer than five years, in which case the expiration of the Payment will be determined by applicable state law." The above states, that I have 5 years to use the original value I paid for the voucher. It tried it 3 days after the thing expired and can't get my money to be applied for what I was going to get. What a shame... What is my course of action you ask? I will never go back to Villa Nova Pizza. I will not recommend it to anybody I know. I will try to get my money back from Groupon. Insanely great thin crust pizza. Get the sausage, but really any of the pizza is spot on. I've been coming here for like 15 years and every pizza I've ever gotten at Villa Nova is on point! Never has my pizza been overdone or undercooked, and the recipe has stayed the same since my father grew up in Stickney in the 60's. Everything about the pizza - the cheese, the crust, the sauce - is incredible and distinctly Villa Nova. Make sure you're looking out for the place when driving! The sign's down and it's not currently very well marked. I make the hour-plus drive to get family-size Villa Nova pizzas at least 3 times a year. read more

First of all the pizza is delicious. Couldn't be happier. Super thin crust, good sauce, right amount of cheese, and they cover the pizza in the toppings. At least one piece of sausage on every piece, and they cut it into super small pieces. Secondly, the owners/staff... great people. This was our second time ordering pizza from them to our job site during the night shift. They worked with us and delivered as late as possible so it was close to our lunch time. Unfortunately there was a mix up (which was completely my fault) with phone numbers when we ordered and the delivery driver couldn't get in touch with us so he waited for a half an hour of his own time because we were his last delivery of the night and eventually left. I was pleasantly surprised the next day I got a call from the owner saying he wanted to work it out because we paid for a pizza and never got it. The next night he gave us the 2 pizzas at no extra charge. Some of the best customer service I've had. Can't wait to order again. read more

I had the pleasure to be invited to Villa Nova Pizza for my Cousins Graduation Party. It was love at first bite!!!! Plus, John, the owner, is like one of the Family, and I just met him. My family has been the food business my entire life, and I am in my late 50's. My Uncle owned the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse in Summit, my Father was a Chef there. Dad owned Pizza Parlors in Melrose Park, he Designed and owned and built the first ever Food Trucks you see today. Dad owned the patent on those trucks. We owned Savario Family Foods, and 9 V's Frozen Italian Dinners. Dominick of Dominicks Finer Foods, and Mr Portillo were friends of my dads. We used to eat at the Original Portillos when he started his first Sandwich Shop up North. My sister's Godfather owns a McDonalds. Im only bringing this up because when I tell VILLA NOVA PIZZA is the REAL DEAL, you just have to take my word for it!!!!! The crust is thin, crisp, and firm. The sauce is just enough sweet with a hint of tang, and the sausage is INCREDIBLE! The Pies aren't overloaded and the ratios of ingredients are on point. I have to say that John's Pizza is the best pizza I've had in a very long time!!!! I have told my family all about VILLA NOVA, and half of them have been there already and agree it's the Best!!! First time there on Saturday night 10/27/18. Best thin crust I have had. They don't scrimp on the Sausage. One or two peices on every slice. Crust is thin and crispy with good flavor. We had a salad with house dressing that was fabulous. The store is clean and the staff friendly. The only down side of the night is the video gaming machines didn't pay out! lol read more
