I love Kindle for their consistent food quality and service. They do not accept reservations so expect a wait for large parties or when they are busy. Their Thursday night steak special is great. An 8oz of filet mignon and a 10$ credit towards a glass of wine for $35. The cheeseboard is also really good. It comes with honey and fig jam, nuts, pickled vegetables, and some other things. It's nice to nibble on while having drinks before the entrees. The desserts are lovely too. Our favourites are the lemon cake and whatever cobbler they have. Just scrumptious. read more

We ate here again as we do like the place and the feel of it. Just wishing they can get their act a little more together. Service was extremely slow, ( we ate early and the place wasn't that busy). We ordered cocktails and then we find out (one at a time), they couldn't make mine (I'm not really sure why), then the other cocktail from there cocktail list -they ran out of ingredients....like really?? My appetizer was ok, was hoping for it to be a little better (the shrimp & polenta). We also had olives and the baked Brie. Entrees 2 pork chops, mine was a little thinner than our guest. He really enjoyed it; I did as well as I got closer to the bone it was better. The first couple of bites seemed to be dry. We also had the lamb shank and a burger to go with our Black Stallion Cabernet. We will be back again supporting local independent restaurants. My wife and I went here tonight for our 10 year wedding anniversary. They don't take reservations, so we put our name on the list and walked around for a bit. When the waitlist app said we were at the top of the list, we went back to the restaurant to wait in person. While waiting there, a group of 3 walked in and were seated without dealing with the waitlist. I would have understood if it was a much larger group, but felt it was pretty obnoxious that a party was able to bypass the line like that. I politely asked the hostess (and older woman) if maybe we had missed our call and she said no and that we would need to keep waiting. Not the end of the world, but her surely attitude and lack of effort in this moment really took away from my enjoyment. If we had another nearby option I would have walked out. Im glad I didn't, as we enjoyed our meal, but again, pretty bad start to the night. Ultimately, we did get a table and our server was much nicer. I got a spicy margarita that was very tasty (although not remotely spicy). For dinner, my wife got the halibut and enjoyed it. I got the filet minion sandwich and was surprised by how tender it was and how well the onions and blue cheese went with the beef. All-in-all, it was a very tasty meal. Initial experience was maybe a 2/5, drinks were 4/5, food was a solid 4.5-5/5, value was maybe a 3-4/5. Would certainly consider coming back, but maybe not for a special occasion when you really want everything to be perfect. read more

Ordered a juicy hamburger that was phenomenal. I never order hamburgers out but because the hamburger had ground short ribs in it I pretty much wanted to taste that and I wasn't disappointed. This is a restaurant that we frequently visit. Sometimes for more special occasions and sometimes for Burger Night. Tonight we went because we were both in the mood for a burger. The restaurant was not as busy as usual and we were quickly seated. After we ordered, we were enjoying ourselves when I felt something on top of my foot. I pulled my foot from under our table and there was a massive cockroach on my foot! Trying not to freak, I shook my foot, knocking it off and slammed my flip flop on it. Now being totally grossed out, I waited for our waitress to come back to our table and when she returned, I pointed to the floor. She was really sweet and said, they come every year. (What??) That's a Palmetto Bug! I said wait, we lived in SC for a long time. I know Palmetto Bugs! That's a Cockroach! Call it whatever you'd like, Delaware has good old American roaches! Came here on our last night in Lewes. Was really looking forward to this as I enjoyed Half Full two nights ago. We were seated shortly after waiting, at a table close to the kitchen. We weren't super hungry so we just got entrees. We were given bread while we waited, which we were told was just Texas toast because they were out of their regular bread. So it was just basically cut up pieces of white bread. Probably better off to not serve any bread at all. We got our entrees, the veggie pasta and the flounder. Pasta was pretty good but the flounder was unremarkable. The broccolini was super good though and it was the redeeming part of the dish. The cooked tomatoes were good too! The garlic crusted flounder was okay but was a bit bland and the rice was oddly sweet and borderline disgusting. I couldn't eat it, which is unlike me, as I hate wasting food but it just tasted so icky. The worst part about this place was that the waitress just wasn't really friendly and seemed disengaged and rushed. But it really wasn't that busy. Most people working there were frowning all night. The manager came to check on us and was friendly enough but also seemed like a formality and an empty gesture. Everyone else was just very uninterested, it seemed. I'm really not one who needs a lot but it was noticeable. Overall, the place was just not for us. Maybe good for some, but not us. read more

Burger night is a must do! Almost always cooked correctly! Bartenders are pretty friendly but also keep busy. Customers at the bar are always friendly and welcoming. Last time my burger was over cooked and I ran out of time but the bartender was very apologetic and wanted the kitchen to redo it however I had to run so she didn't charge me. That won't keep me from going back again as it's one of my favorite burgers in the Lewes, Rehoboth, Dewey area. Great wine selection. If there are multiple people in your party, make reservations. They also have outdoor seating for you to enjoy the fresh air and watch passersby. This is one of our go to stops. read more

Awful, comes 5 tiny shrimps and one small polenta cake, you can't see it because it is completely submerged on sauce , basically tomato soup with tomatoes and the shrimp and the only one polenta cake inside. Portions were very good and the burger was cooked as requested. Soup was extraordinary. However, my meal experience was ruined by an obnoxious person who obviously was there to drink. Having a good time is one thing; another is being so loud that i can hear every thought and loud guffaw within earshot. Too bad. The food is excellent, but the ambience made me want to vomit. omg we had the loveliest dinner here. We were so hungry looking for a restaurant and just went in Kindle because it was the closest restaurant to us, and it was such a pleasant surprise. Warm ambient atmosphere, super attentive staff, and great food and drinks. I remeber we got a despacho and it was good but not suited to our taste, and the amazing server saw us not finishing it, and just took it off our bill. WTH. it was just so nice of them the rest of the meal we wolfed down, it was amazing. I'f highly recommend eating here. Good for dates, groups, families. We went to Kindle, our favorite restaurant, for our 48th wedding anniversary. Got there 4:15 and were lucky to get two seats at the bar between two other couples who we had a great time talking with. One of the reasons we like Kindle so much. We had the Four Cheese Plate appetizer which is still excellent and a good value for $20. The young ladies at the host stand did us a favor by letting us know when we could get Corinne's table so we could relax at the bar enjoying the cheese & crackers, drinks and our "new friends". I had the Lobster Bucatini and my wife had the Roast Chicken - both one of our favorites and delicious! read more

This was our first visit to Kindle. We asked the owner of one of the local businesses not far from the restaurant where to go and this was where they sent us. What a little gem in Lewes! I came w a large group & im sure we were quite loud but the servers were so accommodating to our girly needs! Lemme day the cocktails here are divine. I started and ended the night with them. Started w the red pear & ended w the chocolate martini. As I had such an amazing cocktail I thought I should power up so I got the burger and I devoured it. Cooked perfectly medium w salty juicy fries. I believe it was a prime rib mix - yeeees! My friend got the swordfish which looked great & she said she loved it but I'm not a big fan of swordfish. My wife and I went to kindle for dinner. First I have to say that my eyes are not what the used to be so the dark atmosphere and dark menu make it impossible to read the menu. Had to take a photo with my iPhone so as to blow it up to read. We ordered the Lobster bucatini. To our surprise we found the dish lacking a vibrant taste. Seemed quite bland with a cheese flavor. I recently saw a Google Review about Kindle where the person claimed he was falsely accused by the owner for not leaving a tip. He claimed he always left a tip. I cannot find a way to reply to that review on google. I have been going there for years almost every day that they were open. I can assure you, if the servers said he didn't leave a tip, that he in fact did NOT leave a tip. I was sitting next to that couple when the conversation took place. At one point he asked the owner what a normal tip would be. He was playing dumb. Was this the first restaurant he ever went to? At the bottom of the check there are three suggested tip amounts based on the original prices before discounts. I would trust all of the servers and bartenders above any claim he stated. Less good were scallops with Asian noodles (noodles were too soft for our liking) and halibut over mixed vegetables (lacked any distinctive flavor).
