Went to to this village inn for lunch today to check out there $5 hamburger special. I was waiting for a bait and switch or a bunch of add-ons but I got a cheeseburger liked it with crinkle cut french fries and a good helping . only charge me $5. And it wasn't a single Patty stripped down burger it was too large patties on a very healthy bun. With a large diet drink which the waitress offered me a refill to go when I was ready to leave. The service was beyond excellent and I can't say enough about the cleanliness and comfort. I joined the rewards club a while back and have been getting some decent specials and decided to try one. Food (9/10) - I order country/chicken fried steak with mash potatoes with white gravy sauce, fried onion rings, a muffin, a free pecan pie, and a sweet raspberry ice tea. From a price to food ratio I would also give 5 stars as this meal easily can fill a grown man for 2 meals (My wallet is crying with tears of joy). Country fried steak was cooked to perfection, however because the white sauce was on it, the crunchy fried breading became slightly soggy over time (kinda like cereal sitting in milk over time). I would suggest getting gravy on the side so you can have both textures as you eat. The mash potatoes were solid... not the best in the world, not the worst in the world, if your a fan of mash potatoes it hits the spot on a cold day. Fried onion rings were super crunchy and breaded well so each bite had 65% breading crunch and 35% onion. Would get these onion rings over Texas Roadhouse onion bloom/cactus blossom (which I had the day before) as they had a 70% onion to 30% breading (so each time you grabbed onions the breading fell off. The cupcake was a dark horse (tasted like a sweet, crumbly cake with sugar lightly soaked in a sweet nectar that was experience in every bite. I highly recommend this). Pecan pie... I'm too stuffed, so I'll defer on my honest review on the pecan pie. Finally, the raspberry icetea was diabetically sweet, like it should be. If you want it less sweet, just ask for a water on the side and add water until it's your ideal sweetness. Note: I was nervous at first since there were so many bad reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. Service (9/10) - My server, Jacklyn, was sociable/professional and gave her own personal recommendations to our party. I asked her, "Do you eat here normally?" She said yes, so I took up her up on the offer and requested that she to order what she would normally eat. Side Note: It's a good sign when the workers eat the restaurant food regularly and have great taste. Ambiance (9/10) - The service overall was warm and homey that reminded me of southern Texas hospitality. There was about 8-10 parties eating when we can to dinner rush hour, and there was plenty of seating with minimal wait (the main wait was for the freshly made food that took an appropriate amount of time to cook/serve). Final Thoughts - Go on Wednesday as they have free pies if you get a entree + drink (excludes children) and thepies are half off on Wednesday. I'll be coming back again. read more

This location is convenient to hotels , interstate and neighborhoods , an older building but they have updated the interior so it feels more modern . We usually eat jr but decided to order to go to give it a try . Ordered online which was easy and convenient, paid through the website so all we had to do was go in and pick it up . Email gave us a time frame of 10 minutes and sure enough when we got there it was ready to go . Packaged nice with silverware and ketchup packets included , got home and was pleasantly surprised with the containers and how nice it looked , small containers for all the liquids ( gravy , strawberry syrup ) , which was nice as it didn't make a mess . Everything tasted great and the portions were big . With my meal and my sons kids meal we payed less then $16.00 which is not such a bad deal for what we got . I ordered the Smothered Burrito with a stack of the pumpkin pancakes, my girlfriend had a V.I.B and a side of the Hot Chocolate pancakes. My burrito was warm and crispy but in a bad way. As if they used an old dry tortilla to wrap the burrito in, the chile verde sauce in particular was incredibly bland and many of the ingredients in the burrito were also tasteless. The pumpkin pancakes did not help either, the praline sauce on them was awful and the pancakes themselves were very soggy and 'oily?'. My girlfriend's meal was less disappointing but perhaps because it was a more simple and affordable breakfast (eggs, bacon, and potatoes). Looks like they used all their time and effort to make the place look really nice and modern, but forgot to hire good cooks and servers. Food came out cold. We stopped at Village Inn for breakfast yesterday. When we arrived we were seated right away. There were maybe 4 other tables or people . There was only one waitress and a manager. The waitress took our order and brought our drinks out right away. More people arrived. The waitresss was doing her best to serve all the new tables. The manager helped with some tables between phone calls. We did receive our meals in a reasonable period of time. We each ordered omelettes and hash browns. The omelettes were bland. My wife ordered a vegetable omelette with bacon. She didn't get any bacon in her omelette. We had a difficult time getting our waitresses attention. She offered to bring us a side of bacon and take the charge off our bill. We appreciated the offer. My hash browns were greasy and under seasoned. Overall the food quality was mediocre. The restaurant was understaffed so the service was not as good as it should be. I will say our waitress was very good under the circumstances. I don't know if we will return. read more

After reading all the reviews, I was curious what the real experience was at this restaurant. My brother in law and I walked over to this gem of a restaurant. The wait staff was helpful and kind. The menu is huge. I am a coffee snob, yet I drank the entire pot. (A hot, yet drinkable temp). It was a delicious coffee blend. I tried the strawberry crepes, they were delicious. The chocolate chip pancakes, wonderful (my kids would absolutely go bonkers over their pancakes). I ordered a spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette, and it was loaded. So my family LOVES Village Inn's pies. Banana Cream top favorite! Plus I had a reminder of a GC left to spend so why not. When we used my GC the first time, the 2 ladies who assisted in running my GC thought they may have messed it up and used it all. So they said plz keep receipt etc. Well come today and neither ladies were there. The manager Bill Wagner was there and he knew who were the ladies who helped me and I had my son send me the receipts. Well let's just say, Bill is a manager who knows how to take care of his customers and not fault them and made the past situation that was not done on his watch but on the other mngr's watch (but she knew and told me) right! Not only did he fix the GC and make that right. He gave us the pie's on the house. Bill def earned my respect as a human, mngr in a rough and judgmental industry. On a recent visit, I found the staff to be pleasant and efficient -- the pregnant hostess even doubling as our server. The eggs were perfect (cooked over hard, as is my usual preference), the pancakes fluffy and moist in identical machine matched portions. And the bacon was edible. Really, describing the food is rather pointless. If you've ever been to a Village Inn where they didn't screw up your order, well, my meal was exactly like that. The interior benefits from a recent upgrade. So expect a clean, casual dining experience. If you're coming from the north or east, expect to mutter a few curse words as you attempt to find a way to navigate your vehicle into the parking lot. Everything was fine until it came time to pay the bill. There appeared to be two waitresses working and were somewhat busy. When I say busy, maybe six tables, still felt like a place that was not doing well. The hostess guy was just sitting there doing nothing and I asked if he could ring out our bill. This is when things got weird, he rudely told us the waitress had to ring our ticket, so we headed back to our table. The waitress met us there shortly after and told us to follow her to the register. After complaining to her about the hostess, he came over and told us he wasn't lazy and that he was getting over the flu (not a reason to be rude to a customer). I agree with Brad G. - this is definitely NOT a real diner, so if that's what you're looking for, don't even think about coming here. The food is too salty, too greasy, and generally mediocre. (I get dragged here for breakfast sometimes because my mom likes the hash-browns.) If you must go, get fried eggs, toast with jam, and bacon or sausage. They won't be great, but at least they won't be totally destroyed, which just about everything else you get here will be. Went here for a late lunch with my family. We had just put our orders in when an elderly woman ran into the building with her car right where we were sitting! Scared the crap out of us. I didn't know the extent of her injuries, if any, to her or her passenger so I called 911 to be safe. I went outside to better answer their questions and assess. The woman who I believe was the manager (she was dressed differently than the wait staff) was apparently a relative and basically snapped at me for calling 911! This chain started as Village Inn Pancake House and this location opened in 1972, undergoing two renovations since. The menu is broader than it was originally, when it was 75% breakfast items. Breakfast is still VI's strong suit, as are its pies. Pancakes are good, as are eggs, hashbrowns, and omelettes. My personal favorite is the strawberry blintzes. If you're looking for gourmet cooking--breakfast or otherwise--go somewhere else. If you want a filling, solid meal, then you should like Village Inn. read more

So we have eaten at, and ordered from this location quite a bit in the past. We ordered it today after a few months. When I got home with the order and we were prepping our food to eat we noticed that our buns were burnt. My husband called and asked to speak to a manager. He told her about the sandwiches and let her know that it's not ok to send that out to a customer and it tastes horrible. She proceeded to tell us that her cook said he didn't burn them (duh) and that we'd have to bring them in to prove it to her. Like we're just out to lie and get something out of it...wtf... We offered to send her a picture, because we have children at home eating, and do not exactly live super close. I don't know if when I went I got a bad waitress or it was her first day but from start to finish this was a horrible experience. First I ordered a water to drink I was served the water in a clearly dirty glass stuff stuck to the inside and floating around and it took her twenty minutes to come back and take our order and another ten minutes to replace my dirty water glass then once the food came we were missing things which were never corrected although we asked several times and just gave up. Then we never got our glasses refilled I finally had to ask a different waitress to fill my glass who was more then happy to do so.
