We came in this past weekend for breakfast and please, don't let the past reviews deter you from coming here. The place reminds you of an old diner feel and it's very clean. I have to say this place is fast. It never takes them more than 10-15 minutes to bring your food. We have never had a bad experience with service, ladies working there are very attentive and always checking on you. That's my experience. I've never eaten their pies but they look good. We always get their skillets but this time I tried their fried green tomatoes Benedict and it not bad. Place always has plenty of room, it easily accommodates a big group of people. read more

food order was not what I asked for, the breakfast items are always good but lunch and dinner i would not recommend. I ordered a lunch menu item and everything was wrong on it. sweet tea was extremely to sweet, the burger was requested to be med. rare and came out very well done, asked for only a tomato and received lettuce and onion but no tomato.? fries were almost burnt and very hard and dark brown. the soup of the day , tomato bisque was surprisingly spicy. never had spicy tomato soup before.! only thing that was good was the biscuit . I would only recommend breakfast but definitely NOT lunch or dinner.! it's a shame to since they cleaned up the restaurant appearance and really looks good but the food went down hill.! read more

This was my second time ordering from Village Inn @ the Milton, FL location, I went inside on this visit. The wait staff was very nice. He was quick with getting my order into the kitchen. My food came out hot and fresh. I had a BLT, onion rings, & fresh fruit. The fruit was very nice but all the food was fresh & tasty. The place was clean, the atmosphere, nostalgic in decor. For me cleanliness is paramount. Again, the wait person was great with not over checking on me but he remembered to check on me without me having to call or motion for him. I didn't even have to ask him for condiments he brought them before my meal came out. The pricing was fair for what I had. I've also had their triple decker turkey club sandwich before to go, and it was also tasty and hot not missing any of the extras like utensils, napkins, and the extra dill chips and Mayo on the side. To add why I gave only the 4 stars is that I believe there is always room for improvement anytime. read more

We recently had the nicest server named Jillian. We had breakfast in the afternoon, and the food and service were both excellent. Jillian was attentive to my coffee refills and my husband's iced tea, just making sure we were enjoying our meal. This place has been in town for 20 years and I remember loving it when it first opened. I recently started to go back a couple years ago and I still really enjoy the food. It's not the nostalgic village inn I remember but the skillets , which I always used to order, are still flavorful and cooked to order. Every server I've had had been on par or better. It is what it is. You can tell a lot about the cleanliness standards of a restaurant by the restroom and at 9am this one was filthy. Not just with easily cleaned things, but caked in grime that looked years old. The food was only passable. Don't bother with the country fried steak, it and everything else looked and tasted like it came out of a freezer. I added one star because our server was so nice. Definitely NOT worth a $50 meal for coffee and freezer food. read more

We came early, trying to time breakfast without being overrun by the church crowds that we were warned in advance about. Luckily, there were only a handful of people seated. But honestly, we may as well have waited until there were 100 more people eating. The service was pretty slow, there were flies all over the place (who wants to swat at flies when they are trying to spoon eggs into their mouth?) V.I. in the Sunshine State (2 of 2 - Pace, FL) This visit took place on the next Free Pie Wednesday after eating at the one near Orlando. Village Inn was founded in Denver, Colorado, but sure took root in Florida. However, I've noticed that, with subsequent visits, there are fewer Pensacola-Escambia Bay locations. This store in Pace is now the only one in this area, with the ones in Pensacola near Cordova Mall and on Nine Mile now closed. For the Wednesday meal here, I had the pot roast. For one of my sides, I chose onion rings. The pot roast was good - I could have eaten more of it! The onion rings were also very good and they're something I rarely eat. Hence, it was good that they were one of the side dish options. This Village Inn in Pace wasn't too busy and the parking lot and interior reflected that. I was given a friendly greeting, seated in an area of my choosing, and my drink was brought out to me. I then ordered the main dish. I thought it was nice that the person who may have prepared it brought it out to the table. I've seen this done every now and then. I dug in and devoured what was in front of me, given that I had gone in to eat at more "European" hours. It would be quite a while before the hostess and server would show up again to take my order for the pie slice. I wasn't going to get key lime this week, even though they had it, and got a slice of chocolate peanut butter cup pie. It was good, but too rich. It was also the most caloric of their pie slices. I should have gone with the French silk pie, which one employee said they liked, and it's one I have always had good luck with. At the time the pie was brought to the table, the previous utensils had been removed except for the spoon used to stir the coffee, cream, and sugar. I asked for a fork. Two of the employees got their signals crossed and I had to ask again after sitting there waiting for about 15 minutes. It was then a third person - the same person who may have been the cook - who came to the rescue and brought out that utensil to eat the pie. This employee also brought me the check. Note that many Village Inns only offer their double crusted fruit pie flavors on Free Pie Wednesday. The Pace location allows you to choose from the other varieties for a minor upcharge, which gives you more choice and is appreciated. Village Inn restaurants tend to start with 4 stars for me. They are one of the better chains of this genre, partly because their food does not have that uniform taste across their various dishes. This location is much like the St. Cloud FL one, so it's a nicer store. However, for the gaps in service and waiting time when they were winding down and it wasn't all that busy, I'm going with 3 stars. They need to get their act a little more together because their comfort food is reliable. read more

So, This post brings me great sadness to make but, Management must know the honest truth from one of its consistant visiting patrons since we moved here 3 years ago. We used to visit every Saturday but, had some commitments that had me and my family absent a few Saturdays until today. Replacing the greecy ceiling made sense and was necessary to ensure the establishment looked neat and orderly but, replacing the at home. ... I'm visiting grandma's house vibes was one of the reasons we enjoyed going here. Now the cusion seats have been replaced with cold metal jail cell seats with the same obnoxious goofy colors of the Whataburger fasfood joint. It gives Hurry up and go vibes. Not only that, as soon as we sat down and ordered the waitress brought the check with the food as if we would not ask for something else. Most times we do. Lots of change for the worse came with the set up we have corperate looking painted walls, coffee cups, and art decor something you'll expect to get at a recruiting conference and there seem to be a new supplier as our favorite items such as the french toast bread, fries were not the same also the gravy was cold, the waitress didn't ask if we needed condiments and even made a fuss about me not being allowed to add some pancakes to my meal. Our consistent experience and joy we once had coming here is no more. We left sad, disappointed and loss our appetite to even finish the food. The music always had a oldies vibe and brought back happier nostalgic times of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s but now has this loud noisy not so tasteful music. This was our last visit here and will no longer return. Some change is good but, not all. Best of luck with this place. read more

Went here last night around 5:30,6ish with my husband and had Eli as are server. Was a very sweat young man. Did a great job and made sure are drinks were filled etc. We haven't been here in years but the food and service were great. Would definitely have to add this back to one of are monthly "going out to eat" places. read more

I feel like we have given this place so many chances, always hoping they would do better but it never happens. Today ordered a French Silk pie for pick up. First she said they were out. I asked could one be made. She said no. Then she miraculously found one in the back but said she needed time to "put the topping on it". Ok no problem. I am so sick of the lousy cooking skill from more and more restaurants these days. This place use to do an ok breakfast and had great pies. Not anymore. The breakfast was terrible. Eggs not cooked to order, hash browns barely brown on one side only zero seasoning, even the toast lacked toasting. I'll say this with great confidence. If the continued decline in all things we expect when choosing to step out and spend our money in a restaurant, there will be a flood of closing this year. Training had better find its way back in business and SOON! Village inn is on my do not visit list. I've predicted restaurants to close in the past. It's coming again. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. We sat down and order as a family, when the food arrived they forgot my husband's toast. Not a big deal. Then I realize I was given the wrong entree. I had not eaten any of it. When I informed the waitress she explained that her cook told her he would only make the other entree if I paid for both and accused me of ordering the wrong item. I asked to speak to a manager and was I formed that they left hours earlier and I could call in the morning. I have never been treated so rudely, when cashing out the waitress refused to give a receipt to sign, or allow us to take a survey. Went to Village Inn for breakfast today. The server (Loni) greeted us upon entering and were seated immediately! Loni took our drink order and when she returned with our drinks, she took our order. Loni is very professional and most polite. She brought our meals and had all the condiments( hot sauce, etc). Loni checked back with us often to make sure everything was going well. The food was delicious and the coffee and tea were excellent. Watching Loni deal with other people is an example for all of us to follow. Thank you for the military discount! Will never go back to this place! We saw that there were no customers on our way to an event and decided to stop in for dinner. Now we know why there were no cars outside. The cook was absolutely horrible. Nasty attitude, yelling at the waitress so loud that everyone could hear that he didn't want to be there and we "should be happy and eat what we got" after the wrong item was cooked and served. The food we did get took almost an hour to be served and was not good at all. We threw most of it away. We should not have had to pay for the mess that was served to us and we missed our event waiting for it. I called the manager later that week. She said the cook was fired already because "we weren't the first ones to complain," but she did not even attempt to remedy the situation and basically just said, "sorry." HORRIBLE customer service, management & establishment. read more

well there was four adults two cats we each got a cup and one pot of coffee little did I know each cup was going to be three dollars because it was endless L O L most people 2 to 3 cups max if it's breakfast and it was only one pot of coffee and it wasn't Starbucks coffee so I'm very confused why it's three dollars a cup? I won't be back again thank you very much not to mention I Hate places that calculate the tip for you but then make you pay the bill on there a little kiosk machine. I will not be returning to this establishment! Let's start with the bathroom. My husband and I came for breakfast at 9:30. The woman's bathroom was GROSS! I know we should have just left then. We ordered our food. I asked for my meal to have the hollandaise sauce on the side of my meal. My meal was floating in it. I did give it a try. I understand mistakes happen, but the waitress when she finally checked on us (she did not run food out) my husband was eating his last few bites of the part of his meal that wasn't burnt. Her only response was to take my meal off our bill. Grateful for that, but we will not be returning! Save your money and go down the road to IHOP or Aces!! read more
