While on vacation, My family and I walked over to village inn since it was connected to the hotel. The hospitality and customer service was outstanding! Steph was our server and she said she was new and today is her 2nd day. She was great! The food was average. Nothing special, just typical breakfast food. Majority of our party did not like the scrabble eggs (regular or the egg whites). The potatoes were good but most of the food needed more seasoning. The atmosphere is very casual. Terrible food. We waited OVER AN HOUR and were finally served BURNED FOOD and one of us was not served what we ordered at all. Pancakes were burned. English muffins were burned. Hollandaise sauce had separated and was covering pure pork fat on an Eggs Benedict. My kid who ate part of the Eggs Benedict is now sick. The waiter told us they only had one cook and he had only been there two weeks. This is a terrible way to run a restaurant! Keep driving to anywhere but this place. Saw this little place across from where I was staying.. it had a nice crowd, so i decided to check it out .. hey I could do for some eggs etc lol and it was very close. I was greeted when I arrived and seated quickly.. the table wasn't cleaned that good.. I wanted to sit on one side and it had crumbs or sort... This place was super cute, our waiter was nice and attentive. For a Saturday morning it was packed but we didn't even wait 10 minutes to be seated. The food was really good. I got French toast which were so yummy. The hashbrowns were my husbands absolute favorite. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because towards the end a table was getting cleaned around us and I don't know if it was the chemical they used or the rag they used but it smelled sooo bad , the smell lingered for a while. Very disappointed in this place. My family and I chose to eat here over other options in the area. That ended up being a regrettable decision. Lengthy review due to explanation of experience. We were a group of 8 with the eldest being in her mid 70s and a toddler. Our server Tyler was a very nice guy. He does not deserve to be associated with this poor review. He was truly the only bright spot of the visit. We waited at least 45 minutes for our food and it was not good at all. None of it. The pancakes and meats were overcooked and the grits lacked flavor. I was famished by the time food arrived and still could barely eat it. My daughter (the toddler) was satisfied with her grilled cheese though. The true disappointment came from a hostess and management. About 30-45 mins into our wait, my grandmother became very uncomfortable in the wooden seats of our table. I was also feeling the discomfort and I'm not elderly with a back problem. When a group near us vacated their large booth, my grandmother flagged down a hostess to ask if we could relocate to that table since it had cushioned seats. The hostess said she would check with her manager (Christian). She returned to tell us that the he had declined our request because "another group was on their way and would be seated there". My grandmother was unconvinced and chose to not sit or eat her food. Our food arrived shortly after this exchange and Tyler could tell something had happened. Needless to say, no one ever showed up to occupy that booth. Tyler attempted to remedy the situation by giving us a discount. After paying the bill, my grandmother requested to speak with the manager (Christian) directly. His new explanation for not allowing us to move was because "they would have needed to clean the table again if we moved" UNBELIEVABLE! The fact that he even felt that was an appropriate response. Village Inn is a locally owned version of something akin to Denny's and they do a great breakfast. We stopped in on a busy Saturday morning with a wait, but they got the crowd seated pretty quickly. Service was friendly and very efficient for a bustling breakfast crowd. My coffee came with a pot on the side. I love not having to look around for a waiter when I need a refill and do not mind this DIY. My wife enjoyed her simple eggs over easy, bacon and toast breakfast. I ordered the Triple Play with scrambled eggs, sausage links and French toast. The sausage links are a little spicier than some, which I enjoyed. The French toast uses Texas toast style bread which I was looking forward to, but the bread they used may have been a little stale and was a little chewier than I like. Plus the egg and milk dip they use was not sweetened and the powdered sugar dusting and maple syrup could not quite overcome that unsweet bread. Next time I'll try their pancakes or just stick with toast. They have some interesting lunch and dinner choices on the menu that I wouldn't mind investigating in the future and, of course, there are all those pies. Went with my family on a Sunday morning before getting out Christmas tree. We have not been since the pandemic and there was almost no one there. Definitely not your typical pre covid Sunday morning. We were seated right away. Glancing at the menu it has definitely been condensed. Not the normal menu with a seasonal item or much variety. Service was very slow. She was so super sweet when our waitress did appear but it did take a while. I ordered the VIB with bacon, pancakes, toast and country potatoes. The bacon was mostly fat which was so disappointing since they were just 2 small skinny pieces to begin with. Pancakes and toast were great. The country potatoes were terrible. They were just plain, bland, absolutely not once of seasoning and the salt and pepper at the table couldn't save them. My daughters got the hash browns and loved them. They tasted my potatoes and spit them back out. It's sad that there is not even the slightest effort to cook here and make things taste good with something other then butter. We have a lot of breakfast options around and although my family outvoted me yesterday I truly dont think we will be back. I am very surprised that I've never left a review of this place. It was our family's go to restaurant for a long time. Breakfast? You can beat their pancakes and believe me, I've had so many other pancakes. I'm in love with their Country Music Star Omelette. It contains every meat, two types of cheese and sausage gravy. The service is usually great. The Patty melt is wonderful- but try it with hash browns. They have a very decent BLT with a lot of B! Salads are fresh and big. Great choice for breakfast. This diner was super-convenient to our hotel. We could have walked if we wanted. They were busy Saturday morning and we had a short wait (less than 5 minutes) for a table. This was handled well by the host. The food was very good. The eggs were firm/not runny but still moist. They required salt and pepper but the shakers were on the table, so not an issue at all. The bacon was perfectly crisp. The french toast had nice flavor and you could tell they started with quality bread. Each staff member was professional, efficient and friendly. We were able to enjoy our meal quickly and get on the road without having to wait for service. Final Assessment: Very good experience across the board. Hah! The regulars who gather in this place at 6:00 in the morning are what added to this place. The breakfast fare that we ordered was decent. Not blazing great but good. I got my protein, juice, a hill size of potatoes and endless black coffee. As I ate, I watched the older patrons out of the corner of my eye walk around like they owned the place, joking around with the servers. It was an "old feel" type of restaurant, kind of like the old diner feeling. I don't know if it's like that at other times throughout the day so it could've just been some magic in the air or my brain cells hadn't fully awakened yet. I wanted to thank the staff at Village Inn for their customer service. My husband and I needed to get some change ( quarters and some singles) from a $20.00 bill. We are guests at the near by Hampton inn. The hotel told us they didn't have have any changes so we came next door here to Village Inn. The staff helped us to break down our $20.00 with such wonderful attitude. While we were waiting we saw their fantastic pies and took some pictures. My family and I came here for a cheaper option than the delicious Maple Street Biscuit Company ($50 to feed my family of 4 with no leftovers). Our waitress, Takara, greeted us with a smile and returned with our drinks and my much needed coffee. In the time it took my husband to take our son to the restroom, our food was out. They have quite a few options, including tasty healthy ones. I got the VIB choice of four items: egg white omelette, fruit cup, turkey sausage links, and strawberry crepe (my not so healthy pick). I love Village Inn's, but this particular one in Tallahassee has the worlds WORST service! I've been here twice now on different days, and hours. I've been patiently waiting now for 17 minutes to see a server. This after a 5 minute wait to get seated, and there are only 5 tables with customers. There is a lady server standing behind the cashiers table texting. This is unbelievable to say the least. She finally came over and took my order and said she was doing inventory in the back. As I said, she was texting and staring off into space for a " good little minute", her words, not mine. This is sad. Once the food comes out, it's good, but not worth the wait. My lemon meringue pie was still frozen! I just heard a couple say to her, they've been here 30 minutes and have yet to be waited on!!! Need I say more? read more

Love a good Village Inn and I tried this one in Tallahassee for breakfast this morning. Wasn't sure what to get and then I saw the Country Sausage Crepes. Wasn't sure how they'd taste but I also love a good crepe (especially one slathered with Nutella and bananas on the streets of Montmartre in Paris....so I'm a food snob. Sue me. ) Anyway, back in the USA, singing the praises, these things were acca-mazing! Just perfection. The crepes were light and just right. I want to go back tonight and get them for dinner but I won't (....so I like to eat. Sue me. ) There are other places to review during my first week in Tallahassee. I had lunch at this Village Inn yesterday (6-11-2018), I had the exact same meal that I'd had at the Village Inn on Park Avenue. It was the turkey meal with stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy and a biscuit. The meal at Park Avenue was wonderful...fresh and with nice flavor. The meal at Lonnbladh was horrible....the turkey was ok, though dry, the dressing was not at all like the Park Avenue dressing...it was dense, wet, and tasted like it had passed it's expiration date (I was actually a bit sick from it and didn't even finish the meal). The gravy was dense and the presentation of the whole dish was very very different from the lovely presentation at the Park Avenue location. My server was polite, but inattentive....when most of my meal was still on my plate and I declined a "to go" box, she did not even ask if the meal was ok. After I got home (and was still feeling a bit sick) I called the manager at the Park Avenue location to offer my positive feedback on the work he has done at that location to avoid the horrible experience I had when eating at this location. Of note is that fact that this location had very few customers, while the Park Avenue/Magnolia location is usually busy. Coincidence? I think not! read more

My wife and dine there frequently. Went on Friday night, Dec. 15 specifically for the AYCE fish. She had french toast with one fried egg and bacon. All was very good. I ordered fish. The waitress came back to our table in a few minutes and told me the cook forgot to defrost any fish, and my order would be delayed 20 more min. Our orders finally came out after the wait. I placed a reorder on the fish only, and that also required another 20 min. wait. The fish was excellent. But this was AYCE Fish Friday, so fish should already be defrosted and ready to drop into the fryer. Poor planning in the kitchen. Our waitress was the highlight of our visit. The greeter told us that she couldn't seat us until she spoke to her manager because she thought the kitchen was CLOSED!! The manager came to where we were standing and confirmed the kitchen was closed!! The hours on the door clearly say they are open until 10pm on Sundays!! Village Inn you need a new manager! This is definitely on my top list of places for breakfast!! Between the smiling faces, wonderful food and great prices you can't go wrong with Village Inn. Even when it's super packed inside with long lines I still wait as I know it won't be long before I'm at a table. I always get the VIB (pick 4) with one of those being the orange blossom crepe.
