I was here on Saturday night and what I witnessed IMO was a little bit wild.. the bartender must just strongly dislike her job because she went out of her way to completely belittle and go OFF on some girl for ordering a drink that they didn't have .. then proceeded to tell her how rude she was etc etc. Totally unprofessional! The girl she was yelling at seemed beside herself and embarrassed. I felt bad for her. I live out of state but have family who lives in the Preston/Griswold area. I used to like to come here because of the good food and friendly service but I think from now on when I'm in the area, I'll bring my business elsewhere. I've been a server for 12 years and I could never imagine treating a paying customer that way! I watched the bartender snap on a girl for ordering a beer. She asked for the beer, the bartended said "what" in a rude way and fluttered her fake eyelashes. So the girl repeated it...and I kid you not the bartender was like "you're always so rude when you come" and snapped on the poor girl, like went off on her. The bartenders vibe is so off. This is really Italian restaurant, no compare with anywhere in metropolitan New York city. The best meatballs sandwiches ever. Every bite I have Oh my god,im dreaming of a white Christmas. Today, May 28th was the 2nd time in about 2 months that I ordered their plain cheese pizza. The 1st time was "OK", but not great. The cheese was OK, but the dough & the sauce were stale. I rationalized it as an "off" day & did not say anything. Today the dough & the sauce were even worse. I was hungry after our hike, but I stopped after the 2nd slice. This time I did speak up. They were kind enough to take it off the bill. If they're going to stay in business, they're going to have to rotate their ingredients more frequently! read more

The food here under the new ownership is unreal! You can tell that the pizza, pasta and burgers all made fresh and not from frozen items. The pizza, pasta and of course the chicken Milanese are amazing! Our food was brought out in a timely manner and not late at all. I highly recommend this place!!! read more

My husband and I went there Fri night for dinner. I ordered the pasta with meat balls. I asked for cheese and I opened the cheese and a ball of parmesaun came out and was moldy. Then when I told the waitress she down played the gross cheese. So I didn't leave a tip. This waitress named Jordan c had the audacity to follow us out to our truck and ask why I didn't tip her. We couldn't believe she did that. She's lucky I didn't call the police on her. We will never go back to that place again. The food was so gross and the parm cheese was moldy. I have never seen a restaurant more intent on not feeding people than this restaurant. The new owners own friar tucks so there is no reason to not have a decently functioning restaurant since you run a good restaurant in a much busier location. I had seen people in town give the restaurant rave reviews the first couple of days so we figured we would give it a try and we decided to go early to avoid a little bit of the rush. We showed up before 4:45 ordered two kids meals a basket of fries and 3 pizzas and we just took our kids home after an 1.5 of being there we had to ask for their food to come out so we could get them home and my parents are still waiting for our 3 pizzas. We saw plenty of pizzas go out the door for takeout but maybe one tables meal come out every 20-30 minutes. If you can't handle your business inside of the restaurant you have no business doing takeout or limit it during your prime in restaurant hours. The waitresses spent most of their time chatting and visiting with the locals from town. Also the prices were on the ridiculous side for Preston this isn't downtown Mystic and kids chicken tenders and fries should run you $11 We were excited to have a pizza place in town but it doesn't seem like they even know how to cook pizzas...... unfortunately we won't be going back anytime soon read more

Not a good value, guy taking take out orders was eating the whole time I ordered, i paid extra for jalepenios which I did not receive... (This must be a theme in preston and nosto, because it happens at red onion almost every time too)... Mystic dine in prices for sub par take out... Burnt grinder roll, and wimpy portion for a $14 grinder, lame, margarita pizza, meh 1\4 of the chunks of tomatoes were the nasty stem ends , prepared with no love... Looked like crushed tomatoe just scooped out of a can with a couple token yellow cherry tomatoes thrown on. Whoever made my food obviously did not care.. I dont see myself going back, new place doesnt compare... I just wish I had talked to the guys in the general store BEFORE I wasted over $30.. read more

Went last night with a friend after someone I know highly recommended the pizza. We had a wonderful waiter, Zach who was attentive and friendly--he recommended the meatballs which my friend and I split as an appetizer--DELICIOUS!!! We each ordered a pizza and really enjoyed them. The crust was really flavorful and chewy, not your average pizza place. Worth the drive. We'll be back! read more

I don't know what happened to our local restaurant but the change is definitely for the better. I think they are under new ownership and the quality of the food is so much better. We live in Preston and stopped ordering from here but noticed it was renovated and decided to try it again. We were pleasantly surprised and it is convenient to have local place when we don't want to drive. The prices are higher but I'd much rather pay more for quality and freshness. Took my kids after a cold day on the soccer field and although pricey was worth every penny -especially according to them! They claimed the chowder was the best and we are chowder snobs! My son exclaimed out loud "this is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had!" I had the spicy burger and it was amazing :-). Excellent fries too. We tried the calamari and it was gobbled up too fast. Honestly... Comparing to the original Village Pizza would not be fair as they were well established and sooooo good. This place has a long way to go. The new decor is not as warm. The mixed drink my girlfriend had didn't resemble what it should be even after the second time around. Not a good choice of IPA's but that's just a personal opinion. The menu is very limited (mostly pizzas & grinders) and a bit pricy. Can't see how anything on it should be over 20 bucks. Hoping in time being it's a new establishment, things will improve. Well, we tried take out last night. The restaurant is a few minutes further away from us than we'd normally order from, but we're always looking for a place my whole family will enjoy. We kept it simple with 2 large pizzas and an order of onion rings. Staff was friendly and the order was ready a few minutes early. The plain cheese pizza was ok, nothing unique or above average. The sausage pizza was, somehow not even as good as the plain! The onion rings were frozen/beer battered, deep fried. They too were ok, as good as you'd expect for frozen and not from scratch. I'd say disappointed is the word, not worth going back to for us. I can't speak to any other items but it appears to be a typical pizza joint, lots of frozen, average at best. read more

Love the village. Love the staff. The foods consistent and good. Drinks are reasonable priced. Service is with a smile and you feel like family there. One of the favorites in this house is the Preston city steak wrap. It's pretty good. I've also never had a bad pizza there. Sometimes a bit soggy but the taste is good so easy to look past on that. read more

Our favorite smiling waitress always greets us with a big hello. Being that we go there often, she knows.....We always start with spinach artichoke dip,absolutely delicious! My go to is the grilled steak sandwich with fries. They cook it absolutely perfect. My husband gets either Lemon garlic chicken or Pasta chicken Diablo. Both come with your choice of pasta,salad and garlic bread. My husband and kids like to build their own pizza. Now with not being going into have our meal there, the take out service has been awesome. Can't wait to go hang out and see everyone while we have lunch or dinner. read more

Cheese Pizza, Small-10 dollars: 2 Meatballs side dish-10 dollars; Turkey Club Wrap with fries-15 dollars; Total-36 dollars; Experience-Beyond Worthless. Takeout that I could have made at home that would have tasted better than this sub-par slop. First hint: Once in my car after pickup there was barely a smell from the food that makes you think I cannot wait to get home to eat. Turkey wrap had wilted / soggy lettuce and mushy tomato doused in mayonnaise like the wrap was made a day before we ordered it, fries cold at pickup. Meatballs obviously frozen, overcooked; almost burnt on one side and dry; no sauce can drown the Saraha dessert. Pizza sauce like sweet tasteless Chef Boyardee on pita bread; obviously not handmade dough something bought at your local grocery store, barely any cheese; of which the blend had almost no mozzarella; guess that's why they call it a cheese pizza; more like cheesy pizza. I have had better pizza at PetroMax gas station. So underwhelmed after my first visit, I will never return for an overpriced, terribly made, non-foodie grub experience, if it even lives up to that lackluster name grub, definitely lives up to gross, hard to call this even acceptable food. My dog didn't even want to eat it, so I tossed it where it belonged in the garbage. This is a solid option for hot sandwiches at a reasonable price. Husband and I were running an errand that took us to the rural area that is Preston. We stopped here for a late lunch on Saturday. The setting was basic but welcoming. Service was prompt and friendly. My husband ordered a steak and cheese sandwich, I ordered the meatball sandwich. We each got a large as it was only $ 1 more than a small. Each sandwich was loaded with meat and cheese. The meatballs looked like they were homemade. They and the sauce were very tasty. Both my husband and I took half of our sandwiches home because they were too big to finish in one sitting. We only had sodas, but the place has a full bar and a sizable menu of pizza, salads, sandwiches and related entrees. All in all, a good experience. read more
