    Vodka and Pepperoni Square (Square)

Very tasty! I needed a quick bite. The vodka was extraordinary. The pepperoni good as well. I got hot honey on both. Very soft slices with a nice undercarriage crunch. I love when a square slice is soft on top and they perfectly achieved this.

I was so happy to find out that there's more than one Village Square Pizza! I loved coming here when I lived in the East Village. Their white slice is really unique because it has honey, and I love their vodka slice. The only thing is that my vodka slice tasted a bit burnt on the bottom. Still love it though!

I was working in the coffeeshop next door and stopped by Village Square for a slice for lunch. They had many inviting offerings, and I opted to go for a Grandma slice. They asked if I wanted a corner or edge slide (I went with edge) and then reheated it for me in the oven. Very quick service. Wow, this was a good slice of pizza. The cheese was soooo stretchy, and I loved the freshness of the tomato sauce - it really just felt like crushed tomatoes. It was piping hot, and I liked the thin crispy crust. It almost felt reminiscent of focaccia. This was great for a quick meal. The store was very clean and I appreciated the abundance of napkins, hand sanitizer, and shakers for red pepper, oregano, parmesan, etc.

Solid pepperoni slice. The other offerings looked promising as well. A warm welcome and farewell from the pizzaolo. The bottom of the pizza had a great crispness and the ingredients were all tasty. Clean room with a few stools.

    Amazing plain and grandma slices

I could tell from pics this place was gonna be good! Never tried their other locations, but this new one on the UWS is very satisfying and I'm happy they opened up here. I live in the Bronx and have a lot of good pizza near me, but whenever I'm on upper west side, this is gonna be my spot. The grandma slice and the plain slice were delicious. Just what I was looking for in a New York slice and a square grandma! Perfectly crisp, just right amount of thinness, not too much flop, maybe a tad greasy but I personally like it that way.

Village Sqare Pizza is a brightly lit, clean and organized pizza shop on Broadway . Their prices seem to be reasonable, and with a great selection. The way the pizzas are constructed looks thoughtful and appealing. Armando helped me out with my slice, and even offered some ice for the Coke I bought with it on the hot , hot day. Now to the slice. I got the grandma and I love it. The sauce is the right amount of sweet and tastes high quality, the bread crusty on the bottom then fluffy in the middle before the cheese/sauce, cheese taste great and the pesto makes the slice. Will come back again.

    Cheese slice and garlic knots

The pizza was fantastic and the guy serving us was soooo friendly. He even threw in an extra garlic knot for my kid. The cheese pizza was perfection and the slice of vegan pie was so flavorful - crust brushed with olive oil and herbs and piled high with veggies! Oh- and the marinara served on the side of the garlic knots was so delicious, I wish I could have taken a whole bottle home.

Pizza is delicious and the slices actually satisfy your hunger. The service is quick and seating is usually available. It's a nice calm environment. Definitely top 2 in the area. I've been here the past 5 days and it's completely worth it.

    It's so burned.

You can either take the stairs or the elevator. If you opt for the elevator, there's complimentary wine set up that you serve yourself. This would be great if the elevator took longer, but you are already there before you can finish pouring. I like that they have couches for you to sit at while you wait for your table. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. The energy felt great here. We ordered the cast iron focaccia and Tuna Tonnato. The Focaccia is probably the best I've ever had. It was light and airy and not what a traditional focaccia would taste like. The crust had a nice crisp to it. It was brushed with olive oil and finished with salt. Just perfect and highly recommend. It came with a tomato chili sauce, which tasted good, but was not needed for this. We ordered the tuna to pair with the bread and it was a great combo. I ended up ordering the hangar steak and it was good. Full of flavor and the chimichurri sauce was a nice touch. Though, I would have like the taste of the beef to come out more. The marinade overpowered the meat IMO. My wife got the Rigatoni alla Gricia. I like the pasta and it was bouncy, but the dish was too salty though. We ended the night with the basque cheesecake and I have to say that it wasn't my favorite. The texture seemed off. Normally basque cheesecake is smooth and creamy, but this was a little lumpy like when you over cook eggs in a dessert. Overall, the service was great and the vibes of the restaurant was on point. The food didn't blow me out of the water, but it was good. I would come back here for the focaccia though.

There are numerous locations now in the city but this was my first time going and I was definitely eyeing it for awhile. They do weekday lunch specials of $14 pastas, boozey weekend brunches for around $24/25(not including food), and $12 Sunday dinner specials on entrees as well as happy hours on weekdays from 4-7pm that include: $7 snacks, $8 wine, $5 beer, $9 spritzes, and $9 wells. I happened to come in for Labor Day Brunch on Saturday. We both said we were going to do unlimited but honestly could only finish about a pitcher of mimosa and they only charged us for the one pitcher was the nice part. I went with Carbonara Pasta and my boyfriend had the egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich with fries. I'm not gonna lie, I've never gone to aycd brunch and have not finished my food but I could not finish my entree it was so massive and filling. I haven't had a pasta this rich in ages and it was so so good and I am all for not having those skimpy little portions. He couldn't finish his sandwich either. I tried one of the fries and it was nicely battered thick cut wedge fries. Maybe I haven't been eating out alot lately but I was legit impressed. The staff was wonderful and thoughtful. The cafe in itself is very cute and Italian with black and white marble in the bathrooms, white marble bar top, hanging plants, interesting light fixtures. I'm definitely going to make a point to come back soon.

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.

The interior was completely packed, and the noise level was high enough for my smart watch to complain. To sample a bit of everything, we shared two orders of focaccia, four pastas, and one dessert. HOUSE-MADE FOCACCIA - 10 Super bouncy with a bit of chew, this was probably the best focaccia I've ever eaten. It came generously drizzled with olive oil and alongside chopped peppers drenched in even more olive oil, which added a nice little kick. We highly recommend starting with this. TAGLIATELLE - 27 Out of the four pastas, this was my absolute favorite. I love the thin yet chewy texture of the tagliatelle, and the bolognese sauce was rich and hearty. Finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano, both the pasta texture and sauce were sheer perfection. PICI 'CACIO E PEPE' - 23 This was such a simple pasta, yet so delicious. It was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with hints of fresh black pepper flavor that blew standard at-home black pepper grinders out of the water. Despite it being the simplest pasta of the night, I enjoyed it immensely. RIGATONI - 32 This pasta was simple yet slightly innovative, featuring sausage paired with a broccoli-based pesto. There was a slight bitterness that was polarizing among our group. While this wasn't my favorite pasta, I appreciated the creativity. PERCIATELLI NERO - 35 This dish packed in more components than just pasta and sauce: plenty of crab, tomatoes, and crispy breadcrumbs on top. However, the combination wasn't very memorable. None of the flavors really stood out, and it was my least favorite pasta of the night. OLIVE OIL CAKE - 14 Served with a pile of golden raisins and fancy whipped cream, this ended up being a bit of a miss. The raisins were a bit too sweet, and the cake's texture was uneven -- some bites were soft and moist, while others felt dry. A couple of others in my group also felt the same way. Overall, I'd give L'Artusi a 4.5/5; it was mostly hits with a couple of misses. The pasta portions are quite small. Since each dish is primarily carbs and sauce, I'd imagine you'll likely need an appetizer or a pasta and a half to leave full. Still, I'd definitely come back for the focaccia, tagliatelle, and the cacio e pepe.

There are several places around the city that I feel can deliver a similar meal and experience without quite as much hype. That's not to say I didn't enjoy L'Artusi, because I absolutely did. It just didn't separate itself from some of the other really good Italian restaurants I've visited. Service was great, the atmosphere was nice, and overall we had a very enjoyable dinner. Just one where my expectations may have been a little higher than the experience delivered.
