Korean Style Hot Stone Pot Bibimbap: Got a big portion of food. All the ingredients were delicious. The beef was seasoned very well. The kimchi was good as well, but I wished there was some more variety of banchan. You first order at the counter, then find a place to sit. At the end of your meal, you bus your own plates.

Good portion size for the piece but overall quality was okay. You would come here less for the food but more that you get good value. You get one side dish of the kimchi and they use white rice for their bibimbop. Good balance of ingredients. It was slightly on the lighter side so I added some sauce for more flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was extremely fast, and there's enough seating for small groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You bus your own table and get your own waters.

Been wanting to try this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed! We had their Korean fried chicken, Katsu Bento, and Gyoza! My favorite was their KFC. So flavorful and chewy! It cost $23 and it could be split for two people. Also had their katsu bento and it was good too. The California roll was alright. I enjoyed the gyoza too. A nice appetizer to get ready for the main course! The service was good! Employees were very nice and helpful. The food didn't take long to make at all! The pricing of the food is a bit more on the pricey side though [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance of the restaurant was good. There's a decent amount of seating and there's seating outdoors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went on a sunny day and it was so nice to have a good meal with a great view of the weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The tofu bento was great! Very reasonable prices for the portion sizes. The woman at the counter was very sweet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's indoor, covered porch, and indoor porch options for seating which is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Would go back!

Here we have one of many overlooked restaurants on the Ave in the U District solely because it feels like it's somewhat pushed into a corner in the wall by a parking lot that doesn't have cars in it. This place was much better than what I expected! I came here on a Saturday for lunch with a friend. Use the central plaza parking garage on weekends for parking, but failing that, look carefully around for street parking as it does get dicey there. You order up at the counter depending on what you want, and menus are placed near the front door and behind the cash register. They serve Asian fusion dishes here as advertised, including bibimbap, teriyaki, orange chicken and other things. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating ranges from several tables close to the register to a smaller outside section lined with some tables around the perimeter of the kitchen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quite warm outside when I went, so most people ended up eating inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend and I both ordered the hot stone pot bibimbap to try things out. It came with just kimchi as our banchan, which was less than what I would have liked. But with the addition of their sauce and mixing everything up, everything was quite tasty! Nothing overly special to add but I loved how it was filling and the beef was very well-seasoned while somehow having the strongest flavor in the whole dish (which I actually like a lot). I left here very satisfied, and would definitely come again to try their other dishes when I'm around the area!

This was a fantastic find on the Ave! Everything we ordered was wonderful. Beef bulgogi came out sizzling hot, tofu soup was unlike anything I've tasted, and the tempura shrimp was crunchy! I would happily order everything again. The portions were huge, I ate the bulgogi until I was full and still had a great portion left over for lunch. The man at the register was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was nice and clean. Nothing fancy - just good tasting food.

    Katsu Bento ($17.99)
    Wendi K.

Cozy, casual Interior. Huge, tasty portions. There are Japanese, Korean, and Chinese items on the menu. Katsu Bento ($17.99) - Crispy katsu with rice, salad, gyoza pieces, and California roll. Bulgogi ($16.99) - Flavorful bulgogi on a bed of fluffy rice with salad on the side and a runny egg on top. Located in downtown U- District.

Curry Katsu Bowl and Spicy Chicken Teriyaki Bowl
    Arielle M.

Delicious food and huge portions ! This Katsu curry is non-spicy and comes with bell peppers, zucchini, and peas on top of the usual carrots and potatoes. The rice was on the stickier side (how I prefer it) and it came out piping hot. You can tell they make it to order bc the curry took a little longer than the teriyaki chicken but overall quick and easy service. There's free water by the register. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and the cool breeze was a good compliment to the hot food. Tables no bigger than 4 people so not great for big groups.

Really really great restaurant nuzzled into the u district ave. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very comfortable seats and great lighting, decor, and the owners and workers are always nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Sometimes the tv in the main dining area has cringey 2000s music videos playing, sometimes it has lo fi beats of whatever holiday is coming up, you never know. I find that kind of funny every time we go.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating is nice too for warm nights.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I always get the hot stone bibimbap and it is very tasty. The most recent time I visited I felt as though it was a little heavy on the rice compared to the meat and veggies, but you can't really beat a filling meal for like $16. I love how crispy the rice gets in the hot stone, that's definitely my favorite part and hard to replicate at home. They don't try to usher you out of the restaurant as soon as you are done with your food which I really appreciate. I don't just go out to eat to eat, it's also a nice way to get out of the house and enjoy the company of your friends and loved ones. I feel like this place definitely encourages that. It has some faults to where I can't say it's perfect, but this is a great restaurant to go to with your friends. You need to pick and choose whether you want to leave having spent $15 or $30, as some menu items are pricey, but that's up to you, y'know?

The pork bulgogi bowl had tender and flavorful pork, it was a bit spicy but still delicious and enjoyable. The rice was cooked perfectly and was a good portion size overall. Service was quick and the food didn't take long to come out.

Add to the bucket list! Dubpop is insane!!! Hefty prices but hefty portions to go with it. Food is top quality and made to order, always fresh and piping hot from the kitchen. Extremely friendly staff and quick service. Go to study break munch down because you'll always have leftovers for later. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is off the charts with a great playlist always surging through the speakers with music videos to accompany!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The sushi rolls were mostly rice with little fish. I would skip getting any of them. The carpaccios were interesting... not really what I was thinking when I order carpaccios at other restaurants but the fish was good quality and the sauces paired well. I liked the the yuzu sour! It was so tart and fizzy, whereas the lemon sour mostly tasted like water. They are really just known for their decor, which is indeed super cool. The ambiance is very fun. It can get super busy so make a reservation, especially if you have a bigger group coming. While they could've been speaking to menu technicality of simply having it on the menu, in a well-spirited reply they said they had it for us. And so we... * Took a $35 Lyft to zoom over and respect their time, which certainly contributed to the frustration but very much isn't where most of it derived from. We made it a few minutes before the time we said we'd be there. * The only reason this isn't one star is because we ordered skewers that were pretty decent. I do recommend those. * Make sure to have phone charge for the virtual menus The host was amazing!!! Incredible spirits for late night. The servers were pretty garbage! I say servers plural because dude and his lookalike double-teamed us and somehow both sucked. I say this as someone who's worked in the service industry for 3 years. The servers seemed actively dismayed & angry that we were at the restaurant (there were 2 bigger tables that ended up remaining before we left the place, mind you), which simply could've been easily mitigated by telling us at 8:50PM to come a different day if we wanted better service or something of the sort. After traveling far & wide for this freakin Okonamiyaki, with an offputting slight glare, the waiter told us that they didn't have it for the night. No reason provided: "we just don't have it"... mmmk buddy. At least lie to us and say that the kitchen doesn't have any more ingredients or something dude. Upon the 3 of us ordering what we got, each item was disappointing in its own right: * To be fair, my friend who ordered the Uni Udon was warned that it might be a little weird tasting, and it sure was. Don't recommend * The JFC Don pictured was about 90% rice according to my friend. Nothing more needed to say there. * Annd my Maguro Avocado Don... wow I was astonished at how much I disliked it. The rice was lukewarm. Nothing was mentioned about minced tuna on the menu so it looked like dog food in my bowl. I'm white... so what in the white people shit was in my bowl? Like...genuinely. I could make that 10x better at my house in half the time and I'm a fcking college student. Is seasoning no longer with us? Does anyone know what pepper or garlic are? Was astonished at how one can make a dish so terrible. I only ate it because I'm broke and can't afford other stuff. The dish looks as horrible as it tasted , and I made it look better than it was served to me I could go on. And lastly, the checks. Yknow, for guys that seemed so pissed for us being there, they were slow as hell with the checks. I'm kind af but a bitch when I'm fucked with (case in point here), so I really gave them my whole dentures, which was exponential in magnitude compared to what they gave us. Thank you Issian, for a terrible night. Citizens of the world, please don't waste your money here, I beg you.

The dispenser was wet, suggesting it had recently been used and run out. I flagged this to an employee who was handling food at the time. They acknowledged me but didn't address it. I waited and brought it up again and was met with visible annoyance. Another staff member eventually mentioned that employees use a sink in the kitchen. I asked if I could use it. Shortly after, soap appeared in the bathroom with no acknowledgment or apology. What concerns me most is this: if the customer-facing restroom had no soap during the dinner rush, and the response to being asked about it was irritation rather than urgency, what does that say about how handwashing is handled behind the scenes? I'm not looking for perfection. I'm looking for basic food safety protocol to be taken seriously. I didn't see that here.

On the misses, the spicy salmon hand roll was extremely salty to the point where it was burning my tongue. The hot dishes like the salmon chanchan yaki and chicken teriyaki were bland and overcooked, didn't even want to bring leftovers home.
