We went Sunday around 2pm. This place stays packed! Unfortunately, they only have a brunch menu on Sunday until 4pm, so most of the items I wanted to try weren't available. The waiter was nice and attentive. The ambiance was great for a dinner night. We started with the crab dip. Very good and flavorful, I wish there was more crab meat in it. I ordered the burger, solid burger, nothing special. The margherita pizza was simply a cheese pizza with basil, very basic. I wish the brunch menu had some pastas on it! I'll be back to try the dinner menu!

The Village Tavern is a nice go-to choice if you want something somewhat casual but still a relatively relaxed atmosphere. It's the kind of place I'd go to and wind down from a long day or a long week. You probably won't find anything that is truly unique or will blow your mind on the menu but it's all pretty decent quality and mostly comfort food that's very reasonably priced. A good place to have a relaxed dinner with friends/family without breaking the bank.

Fantastic experience as always. I've went to the Village Tavern chain a few times and have had mixed experiences before. However, my visit to this particular location was spot on. We got seated right away, though we did have a reservation, which I feel is extremely necessary, especially on weeknights. Service was quick and friendly. As an appetizer, I got the hot crab dip. It was delicious and plenty to share between two people. As an entrée, I got the 10 spice glaze salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I was really happy with how the asparagus was cooked to be just a little firm, and that it was a nice healthy size. No shoestring asparagus here! I can't stress enough how important having a reservation is. There is always an extremely long wait on weekends. But, planning ahead will definitely save some time and frustration.

Had a nice lunch here recently. We had reservations at 1:45 and was greeted walking in and seated within a minute or so. All the staff were professional and friendly. A large restuarant, with seating inside and out, a dark heavy wooden interior. We opted for inside. Calamari for starts. It was a good start and well prepared with a sweet garlic dipping sauce. Served on nori sheets with sesame seeds. I went for the Baja fish tacos with french fries for my late lunch. Two flour tortilla shells, nicely batter fried fish with a slaw topping. The tacos were good, and the fries golden brown and freshly made. A solid lunch. This establishment has been around for years and is still popular and busy. Worth the effort to make reservations if you don't want to wait. 4 Stars recommended 01169

This is our go-to spot when we want comfort without overthinking it. The service is always very friendly, the food, everything we have ordered so far, always hits the spot, and the atmosphere is very relaxed, dimmed lights and not so loud.

Village Tavern is always my bf and I go to. They never disappoint food wise and service wise. Our waiters are always so nice and very helpful and patient. The ambiance is casual and a cozy setting. I love getting the shrimp and grits from here and it's the best I've ever had. The flavor of the bacon and mushrooms together are immaculate. The portion of everything is good and you can definitely have left overs. The sweet potato fries are also a must with their honey mustard my bf has to get these all the time no matter what. Filet mignon tacos were good but wish there was a little more meat or a sauce to go with it. The crab dip was delicious and definitely did come out hot! We love village tavern and will always come back!

I had the pleasure of dinning here on Wednesday night. Was traveling for work and my colleagues and I needed dinner. This place did not disappoint. Although a lil loud at times-it was a great ambiance. I had the 16oz prime rib, a wedge salad, and French onion soup. My meal was delicious. Our service was incredible as well. Although I did not take a picture we also ordered one of each dessert and I tell you it was worth it. If dinning here save room for dessert. Among the group's favorite was the warm butter cake.

Ok so In order to use up the last of my amex credit I chose to stop here on my way home as I was driving through winston to grab a few kids meals for the kids(and me) we all got grilled chicken, green beans and either French fries or mashed potatoes. For a kids meal the portion was huge and these were some of the most well seasoned chicken breast I've had. The green beans lacked seasoning but the mashed potatoes and French fries were both done really well. For the price we were so pleased and the kids made 2 meals out of each one. Definitely will get these again

It's been a minute since I've been to village tavern and it was absolutely delicious. The crab cake was one of the best I've had in the area and I wish I'd gotten the meal. The spring rolls were loaded with chicken and I loved them with the sweet Thai chili. The Thai chicken salad is a go to for me. I tried the firecracker shrimp for the first time. It was the sweet thai chili sauce which I love and didn't have much spice but they were incredible. My husband got the prime rib sandwich and it looked incredible. The whole meal was a 12/10 for me. They were busy but service was still great and our waitress was very kind.

Came back for a nice work dinner and had a great time. Pre fix menu so I got the tavern salad, shrimp and grits, and crème brûlée cheesecake. Service was a little slow with drinks (to be fair it was a party of 20+ people) so I accidentally got served two French pear martinis but we made them disappear! I tried the spicy jalapeño margarita too and that had a nice kick to it. It was packed for a Monday night at 6pm and the function room where we were seated had at least two other large groups. I can see why this place is busy though, the food is always solid and the drinks are tasty.

I haven't been to Village Tavern in over 10 years but this experience was spectacular! I love prime rib but there's not many places that have it and cook it to perfection, this one was delicious. It was cooked perfectly, very tender, and not overly seasoned. Will be back!

They never disappoint. The staff and chef have changed over the years but the quality of the meals continue to receive 5 out of 5 stars! I chose one of my favorite dishes and enjoyed every bite. Our party of 20 was served with excellence!

What I got! (fries thrown away). This is the leftover. Guess I should've ate in.

We go to Village Tavern for quality food & great preparation. I've had various dishes from eggs benedict, omelets, pastas, salmon, salads & burgers, which is a rarity for me. Last night I ordered the american w/cheedar. The last time I had it was a few months ago. Again, well made with a veggie stack as high as the burger. Last night's order; however, was a clear difference in quality & quantity. The only way to see veggies was to remove the bun; otherwise, it appeared as a plain cheeseburger. Also, the fries were changed. I actually prefer the original, tossed. If you're going to increase cost, the quality should either remain or increase. This togo was a bummer!

If you have enough butter and sauces you can add some flavor, but a lot of the blandness remains, for me anyway. I've had seafood boils on the beach at Cape Cod, Hyman's Seafood in Charleston, and Willie's Boil House in the French Quarter, among others. And I was blown away by none. In a discussion with a friend, he disagreed with my position and suggested I give some local spots a try, and be very generous with all types of accompanying sauces, especially spicy ones, and don't skip the butter! So I am planning to try a few spots heading into the new year, starting with this spot. I ordered the weekend special, shrimp, lobster tail, and small crab cluster. This comes with potatoes and corn. This was not at all a bad meal, the shrimp were very tasty. The lobster tail was a bit chewy though the flavor was nice. The crab cluster produced some nice bits of meat, but this was a very small cluster. The veggies were just ok, on the dull side. While not all bad, this was very expensive and I would not come close to ordering this again - in fact I don't see a return visit, period!

I'm never disappointed when I visit Ms. Virginia and her friendly staff ar Forsyth Seafood Market…read moreand Cafe. Since I moved to Greensboro, I take every opportunity I can to stop in while visiting Winston-Salem to place an order just before hitting the road back home. On this day, the cafe was busier than I had ever seen it. There was a conference happening at Wake Forest University, and many of the attendees had selected Forsyth Seafood as their dinner (without calling ahead, I assume). The self-seating cafe is large and adorned with several tables and chairs, so it was well-equipped to accommodate the large group, plus other guests that was there to eat. In stellar fashion, the kitchen staff was taking and getting orders out to the cafe and their usual takeout patrons quickly. I ordered a 5-piece Catfish, an order of hushpuppies, and a small coleslaw via their website, and had less than 10 min. wait for my order, after they recooked my order (it had mistakenly been held too long when they didn't realize I was in the parking lot, due to the large group, not a normal occurrence). One tip that Ms. Virginia (the owner) gave me for longer road trips (over 40 mins.) was to, instead of ordering a pickup online, order at the counter, and then the fish will be fried and hot (instead of fried and sitting waiting on me to pick it up), which makes it even fresher by the time I get home. As usual, I arrived in Greensboro with 3.5 pieces of fish and 1/2 an order of hush puppies because I can never resist putting my fingers in the box and eating some (despite burning my fingers lol). My entire order was delicious, and I had enough for a second meal the next day. As a successful, family-owned and operated business, Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe has been feeding generations of families delicious food for years. In addition, it has been a willing contributor in the Winston-Salem, NC, community for years. However, what speaks the loudest to me is its commitment to remaining in the community and maintaining a quality product and service. Forsyth Seafood Market & Cafe is definitely Kiesha Speech-approved. I recommend trying the whiting filets or the catfish filets, with some hushpuppies (or white bread, if that's your preference) and coleslaw. Don't forget the hometown original: Texas Pete hot sauce! ;)

It's definitely a local favorite. The restaurant appeared clean and sanitized, though the lobby could use some improvement to create a better dine-in experience. Your wait time depends on how busy they are, so I recommend calling ahead, especially during peak hours. The pricing is reasonable, and there are plenty of combo options to choose from. As for our order, the sides were hit or miss. I wouldn't recommend the gumbo, but the greens and sweet potato were good. We chose fried options, but non-fried selections are available as well.

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night.
