This is our go-to spot when we want comfort without overthinking it. The service is always very friendly, the food, everything we have ordered so far, always hits the spot, and the atmosphere is very relaxed, dimmed lights and not so loud.

Fantastic experience as always. I've went to the Village Tavern chain a few times and have had mixed experiences before. However, my visit to this particular location was spot on. We got seated right away, though we did have a reservation, which I feel is extremely necessary, especially on weeknights. Service was quick and friendly. As an appetizer, I got the hot crab dip. It was delicious and plenty to share between two people. As an entrée, I got the 10 spice glaze salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. I was really happy with how the asparagus was cooked to be just a little firm, and that it was a nice healthy size. No shoestring asparagus here! I can't stress enough how important having a reservation is. There is always an extremely long wait on weekends. But, planning ahead will definitely save some time and frustration.

Had a nice lunch here recently. We had reservations at 1:45 and was greeted walking in and seated within a minute or so. All the staff were professional and friendly. A large restuarant, with seating inside and out, a dark heavy wooden interior. We opted for inside. Calamari for starts. It was a good start and well prepared with a sweet garlic dipping sauce. Served on nori sheets with sesame seeds. I went for the Baja fish tacos with french fries for my late lunch. Two flour tortilla shells, nicely batter fried fish with a slaw topping. The tacos were good, and the fries golden brown and freshly made. A solid lunch. This establishment has been around for years and is still popular and busy. Worth the effort to make reservations if you don't want to wait. 4 Stars recommended 01169

Village Tavern is always my bf and I go to. They never disappoint food wise and service wise. Our waiters are always so nice and very helpful and patient. The ambiance is casual and a cozy setting. I love getting the shrimp and grits from here and it's the best I've ever had. The flavor of the bacon and mushrooms together are immaculate. The portion of everything is good and you can definitely have left overs. The sweet potato fries are also a must with their honey mustard my bf has to get these all the time no matter what. Filet mignon tacos were good but wish there was a little more meat or a sauce to go with it. The crab dip was delicious and definitely did come out hot! We love village tavern and will always come back!

I had the pleasure of dinning here on Wednesday night. Was traveling for work and my colleagues and I needed dinner. This place did not disappoint. Although a lil loud at times-it was a great ambiance. I had the 16oz prime rib, a wedge salad, and French onion soup. My meal was delicious. Our service was incredible as well. Although I did not take a picture we also ordered one of each dessert and I tell you it was worth it. If dinning here save room for dessert. Among the group's favorite was the warm butter cake.

Ok so In order to use up the last of my amex credit I chose to stop here on my way home as I was driving through winston to grab a few kids meals for the kids(and me) we all got grilled chicken, green beans and either French fries or mashed potatoes. For a kids meal the portion was huge and these were some of the most well seasoned chicken breast I've had. The green beans lacked seasoning but the mashed potatoes and French fries were both done really well. For the price we were so pleased and the kids made 2 meals out of each one. Definitely will get these again

It's been a minute since I've been to village tavern and it was absolutely delicious. The crab cake was one of the best I've had in the area and I wish I'd gotten the meal. The spring rolls were loaded with chicken and I loved them with the sweet Thai chili. The Thai chicken salad is a go to for me. I tried the firecracker shrimp for the first time. It was the sweet thai chili sauce which I love and didn't have much spice but they were incredible. My husband got the prime rib sandwich and it looked incredible. The whole meal was a 12/10 for me. They were busy but service was still great and our waitress was very kind.

Came back for a nice work dinner and had a great time. Pre fix menu so I got the tavern salad, shrimp and grits, and crème brûlée cheesecake. Service was a little slow with drinks (to be fair it was a party of 20+ people) so I accidentally got served two French pear martinis but we made them disappear! I tried the spicy jalapeño margarita too and that had a nice kick to it. It was packed for a Monday night at 6pm and the function room where we were seated had at least two other large groups. I can see why this place is busy though, the food is always solid and the drinks are tasty.

I haven't been to Village Tavern in over 10 years but this experience was spectacular! I love prime rib but there's not many places that have it and cook it to perfection, this one was delicious. It was cooked perfectly, very tender, and not overly seasoned. Will be back!

They never disappoint. The staff and chef have changed over the years but the quality of the meals continue to receive 5 out of 5 stars! I chose one of my favorite dishes and enjoyed every bite. Our party of 20 was served with excellence!

What I got! (fries thrown away). This is the leftover. Guess I should've ate in.

We go to Village Tavern for quality food & great preparation. I've had various dishes from eggs benedict, omelets, pastas, salmon, salads & burgers, which is a rarity for me. Last night I ordered the american w/cheedar. The last time I had it was a few months ago. Again, well made with a veggie stack as high as the burger. Last night's order; however, was a clear difference in quality & quantity. The only way to see veggies was to remove the bun; otherwise, it appeared as a plain cheeseburger. Also, the fries were changed. I actually prefer the original, tossed. If you're going to increase cost, the quality should either remain or increase. This togo was a bummer!

Ever since I was a child , this was my favorite place to go for special occasions or my birthday , I haven't been in several years and last experience wasn't the best . Unfortunately this time wasn't any better which is very sad to say . I ordered the tuna sashimi for an appetizer and it was horriable to thick of cut , fishy taste and for $18 the sauces and "salad" with it all were nasty and only a few pieces of tuna . I have this at another food chain and was amazing so had high hopes but had to force my self and Gaf down a few bites just so I didn't waist $18 . Got a blue moon draft and beer was old and no orange slice . I got the pimento cheese bacon burger and it was so soggy I had to eat with a fork no flavoring to the meat and the pimento cheese was just hot soupy mess and bacon burnt , my wife had gotten the shrimp and grits and she said the shrimp was fishy and nothing like you would get at the coast and wasn't happy and we barely made it home before she was in the bathroom . For a $100 meal I'm extremely disappointed in our food the quality and the waiter was terrible and couldn't care less that we were even there . If it wasn't for the long history with village tavern and this location I would have given it less stars .

Maple glazed pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes and apple chutney
    Amanda H.

I ate at the Village tavern on Sat night. I've been a few times but it's not a regular place we dine. When I do go I usually order the crab cakes because they're delicious. Saturday I decided to try something different. I got the maple glazed pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes, apple chutney, and I subbed the green beans with mac n cheese. While we waited on our food I ordered an espresso chiller. Skrewball whiskey, oat milk, cold brew coffee, and a salted cinnamon syrup. Holy moly was that good. We ordered the hot crab dip so I snacked on that and drank my drink. When the waitress brought our food out my jaw dropped. This pork chop was almost 2 inches thick. I knew immediately I wouldn't be able to finish it. It had perfect grill marks and a delicious maple glaze that had just a slight peppery kick at the end. It was cooked to perfection. The garlic mashed potatoes were delicious as was the mac n cheese. I have never had a pork chop that big and even the staff said that might have been the biggest they've ever served. It was busy but that's because it was a Sat night and we were dining at peak time. The decor is very warm and inviting. Even though the dining room was packed it wasn't extremely loud. Service was great, drinks were great, and food was amazing.

If you have enough butter and sauces you can add some flavor, but a lot of the blandness remains, for me anyway. I've had seafood boils on the beach at Cape Cod, Hyman's Seafood in Charleston, and Willie's Boil House in the French Quarter, among others. And I was blown away by none. In a discussion with a friend, he disagreed with my position and suggested I give some local spots a try, and be very generous with all types of accompanying sauces, especially spicy ones, and don't skip the butter! So I am planning to try a few spots heading into the new year, starting with this spot. I ordered the weekend special, shrimp, lobster tail, and small crab cluster. This comes with potatoes and corn. This was not at all a bad meal, the shrimp were very tasty. The lobster tail was a bit chewy though the flavor was nice. The crab cluster produced some nice bits of meat, but this was a very small cluster. The veggies were just ok, on the dull side. While not all bad, this was very expensive and I would not come close to ordering this again - in fact I don't see a return visit, period!

When we first walked in, it was busy and we heard the hostess tell the couple in front of us they would need to wait over an hour for a table - Lucky for me my wife made reservations and we were seated immediately! It was a bit on the noisy side but not so bad we couldn't have a conversation. Our servers, Thomas, was fantastic start to finish with good recommendations, attentive service without being overbearing, and a great personality. Good staff make a business shine! We started with glasses of wine and were impressed with how generous they poured. Perhaps it was a visual illusion, but they felt like very large glasses of wine and made it feel like a very good value. They have a good selection of wines to choose from along with a full bar. Appetizer was the Crab Cake Egg Rolls, something I don't think I've seen anywhere else. They're cooked in Beef Tallow which gave a very savory flavor and crispy texture. They were a bit on the oily side but overall flavor was delicious, and I really liked the dipping sauce which was like a very herb-heavy tartar sauce. For entrees, my wife had the Filet and I had a New York Strip. I don't have the words to describe how delicious and perfectly prepared both of these were. I didn't even bother asking for steak sauce because the perfectly tender and seasoned steak didn't need it. Nobody wants to pay high prices for a steak and receive something low quality, and I was thrilled with the quality of the steaks here. Surrounding tables likewise had great looking meals and I overheard them voicing pleasure too. As sides go, the baked potatoes and salads were excellent too. I got the hot bacon vinegarette dressing and was surprised it was actually served quite hot. It had a really rich and slightly tangy flavor that was unique and I really enjoyed on my salad. I have no complaints here and will absolutely be back. Of course it's on the pricey end, but this is the type of establishment you reserve for a special night out, not your average Tuesday night. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed!
