The waitress was super nice , there was about 8 adults and 4 kids we came from a soccer game . She's was very accommodating and helpful the waitress. So we ordered I got a carnitas torta, hubby got chilaquiles and baby boy got loaded nachos everyone else got tacos or quesa birra the torta was great and huge the chilaquiles were not normal they were made with the chips they give you at the table before your meal it was like they threw the chips in a pan and threw the salsa in a cooked them they forgot the egg . It wasn't very tasty also the loaded nachos were ok and the birria tacos were so so. Consume was way to thick . Tacos were bland no cilantro onions or salsa on them just the tortilla and meat . Came here actually looking for a different place, but saw that a crowd of folks eating and the 4 star Yelp review so gave it a try. Our group had the California and grilled chicken burrito along with Al pastor tacos. Flavor was good, a little salty on the chicken however. Serving size was good and the burritos were filling. Parking is just okay but it is next to the mall so there is more parking in walking distance. Good selection of food to choose. Probably 3 1/2 stars but not an option in Yelp so will go 4 based on how fast the food came out. read more

On my first visit to Villa's I ordered over a dozen burritos with a variety of protein, chicken, pork and beef. I even ordered a bean & cheese. All were great tasting because of the homemade tortillas used to wrap the burritos. Oftentimes burritos are just like other burritos because the same ingredients are used, so any subtle changes on the ingredients make a difference. In this case homemade tortillas were used to make the burritos and that's what made Villa's burritos so good. read more

We came here yesterday for lunch out of lunchtime and was still packed inside. We've never been here before but have heard many reviews about it so decided to give it a try! We've also heard that this place was better than El Asadero, and it truly was. The staff was so much friendlier than EA, they greeted us and talked with us, made sure we were doing okay, and the food tasted better here. The inside is pretty small, only about 7-8 tables. We thought it wasn't a sit-down restaurant but turned out that it was so it was nice to sit down and relax after a busy morning. We ordered 6 rolled tacos with chicken, the 2 enchilada combination that came with beans and rice, the carne asada burrito special with beans and rice, and the chimichanga combination with beans and rice. With each meal, they gave us a few carrots which were nice. The beans were great, came with a lot of cheese on top of them and were very hot and fresh when the plates came to the table. The rice was alright, didn't have any spice or flavor to it like most other places have, wouldn't get the rice again unless they changed or added something to them. 6 Rolled Tacos: They were a little dry, it didn't have enough of the toppings on it (guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and cheese). Would probably go to another place only to get these. Chimichanga: Got shredded beef with it and was very good. The beef was flavorful, very tender, but had several big pieces of fat in it. Ordered a side of enchilada sauce to put on top and made it fantastic. 2 Enchiladas (1 Shredded Beef and 1 Ground Beef): The shredded beef was fantastic, had great flavor by itself. The enchilada sauce was good, came out hot. The ground beef wasn't very good, didn't have any flavor if by itself, but came out hot as well. Asada Burrito: Burrito was good, Asada was flavorful and good, came with salsa inside which was nice. Would definitily recommend for a quick lunch (sit-down) or dinner. read more

My husband and I tried this place for the first time. It's a cute, clean little place near the mall in Merced. It's perfect location not far from the UA Theater. I like the fact that their menu is one page front and back. Instead of 15 million pages. We ordered what looked good and what was popular in other places we had been to compare. They're wet burrito is very well done. The flavor was great and the price was amazing. Their shrimp tostada was very flavorful and packed with shrimp. The horchata was okay, however a little bit more cinnamon and a splash of rice flour would make such a difference. We will definitely be back here to try more items on the menu. The Owners/cooks at villa's used to work at El Asa Dero so if you're a fan of them, you'll probably like Villa's. For me, Villa's is much better. The food is very tasty and they give you a good amount at a decent price. This is my favorite spot for a breakfast burrito!!!!! We love that they add beans! You can either get ham or bacon so I always get bacon and add potato!!! Got my car washed today. Walked over to Villa's to get a bite to eat to pass the time. The guy that delivered the food to a couple at the outdoor table was wearing his mask below his nose. I've been to Villas several times now. It's a four star place in Merced. I've always had great service here. I don't feel like I'm waiting too long and the servers are nice. Takeout is fast. This time I tried the chicken tacos and they tasted good. I think their green enchiladas, carnitas tacos, and carne asada supreme burritos are great too. My family likes the asada fries. It has a lot of flavor and they give a lot of salsa, but it doesn't overpower the rest of the burrito unlike other places. I've had their rolled tacos before too and those are also really good. First thought upon receiving my chicken enchiladas: WHAT IS ALL THIS UNNECESSARY CRAP! I mean cmon, not only is it a waste of ingredients (every plate does not need to be decked out with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, onions, tomatoes, carrots etc, this isn't a freaking burger people!) but once I managed to find the enchiladas they tasted really off. Don't know if it was old chicken, cook never tasted a good enchilada in his life, etc. The red enchilada sauce is also a gooey brown mess that really sogged up my food when mixed with their sour cream and other crap they piled on. Did I mention they cram all of this onto a small disposable plate? (Granted, it's the one with dividers). Al pastor taco also tasted more like leftover ground up beef. Used to go to El Asadero's for the Enchiladas Rancheras, but when my two favorite cooks opened Villa's (neither of their names, but they said places called Villa's are usually really popular), I started making the drive over to buy from them. Everything is really good, the beans are way better than El Asadero's, the rice not quite as good (sorry, but it's true). The quesadillas, shredded beef tacos, and ANYTHING with Ranchero sauce are my favorites. Love the place and am so glad they are doing so well since opening last year. Hooray for Villa's!! read more

Pretty decent Mexican restaurant next to Lane's Home Furnishings (sort of between Target and Michael's, next to the car wash). Chips and salsa: 4/5 (the chips were hot and fresh, the salsa was VERY hot but flavorful... I wish they had served a slightly more mild version, or some pico de gallo on the side) Food: good selection of tacos, burritos, sopes, tostadas, enchiladas, etc (and, randomly, burgers). Fish, Chicken, Beef, sometimes vegetable/cheese. I thought the rice and beans were very good (the rice was, actually, excellent), the fish tacos pretty good (fried pieces of fish), and the veggie burrito was just ok. Less rice and beans, more cilantro, avocado, lettuce, salsa-- give it some flavor and texture. Atmosphere: this is almost fast-food like, but they come to your table and take your order. TV on low volume, maybe there was some music, and your plates and cups are made of styrofoam and utensils are plastic. WHY? Not really sure-- maybe they don't like doing dishes? Maybe they don't have the manpower? But it definitely makes this place less classy-- so don't go here on a first date if you're trying to impress. And don't take your environmentalist friends here-- they'll be pissed throughout the whole meal, and they'll probably complain to the nice guy at the register. Don't say I didn't warn you. Overall, friendly service, again, pretty good food, and prices weren't bad. I'll come back again and see how things are progressing :D read more

Carne asada in the California burrito was charred and crispy! Their chips and salsa are good, but flavor more on the mild side. Clean restroom and cashier comes back around to make sure everything is great. They serve bottled beer :) and have outdoor seating. I work close by so Villa's is a nice option for lunch. it's reasonably priced and has the best ice tea. I started looking for lunch options when I got tired of having to run to the food court for something quick and I am pleased to say I stumbled on Villa's. Whether I'm in the mood for a healthy lunch or a junk-filled carb fest I can always find something to suit me. As one yelper said, I wouldn't take a first date to Villa's unless it's a lunch date. The seating area is small with lots of light and windows. I think it's perfect first date worthy. It eliminates any pressure to get too close or spend too much money when it's just a first date. it's not quite a diner and not quite a bistro but my daughters and I love to spend part of our girl day eating chips and salsa on the front patio underneath the umbrella. It's actually great fun sitting in the sun, sipping tea and people watching at the car wash across the street. I've had all sorts of things from the menu at Villa's so it's hard to recommend a favorite. Their Carne Asada fries are awesome. I've turned more than a few people onto those. I started a lunchtime trend called Taco & Tea Time. lol For less than 5 bucks I can get an awesome ground beef taco and a large tea. Keep in mind this is not gourmet food or fancy food. It's simple, home cooking style of food. It's hearty and delicious. it's the kind of food you turn to when you're looking to stuff your face. lol The service at Villa's is top notch. The nice guy at the register is one of the two guys that own the place while the other owner is the guy in the white hat cooking in the kitchen. They are so incredibly friendly. They keep their restaurant clean and they do their best to treat all their customers well. Give them a try if you're shopping at the mall. this is a local business worth supporting. read more
