Came here actually looking for a different place, but saw that a crowd of folks eating and the 4 star Yelp review so gave it a try. Our group had the California and grilled chicken burrito along with Al pastor tacos. Flavor was good, a little salty on the chicken however. Serving size was good and the burritos were filling. Parking is just okay but it is next to the mall so there is more parking in walking distance. Good selection of food to choose. Probably 3 1/2 stars but not an option in Yelp so will go 4 based on how fast the food came out.

Guacamole

I didn't eat anything all day and was really looking forward For some guacamole and chips . And this is what I got . I can't believe when I open it what it look like almost black and it also tasted old like if some of it was rotten it was so nasty I wanted to throw up I know guac can get a little black but no way this was fresh guaca this was like a whole week old or something . This is very unprofessional to think this is acceptable

Shrimp Cocktail.

As I have said before, the shrimp cocktail here is top notch. I still haven't had any anywhere else that can match it. Service is always great and the place is always clean.

Really good food. We got asada tacos, el pastor tacos and a Cali burrito with a side of rice and beans of course. The rice and beans were awesome! Our tacos were also delicious. I don't care for el pastor at most places, but here was really tasty. The guacamole was also extremely good.

Ranchera plate

First time being here, I really wanted to like this place. Ordered the Ranchera plate, was expecting a piece of steak with the fixing, but instead got some sautéed tossed vegetables with some diced Taco bell type meat blended in there. Rice and beans was ok.

Sope...colorful and flavorful

I was delighted to find this restaurant... very pleasant staff and the food was delicious. I just wish I could have tried more things on their very expensive menu.

I can't say enough about Villas. They are always consistently good! The food here is amazing as well as the service. I had their number 12 combination which is Chile Relleno and beef taco plate. Very tasty.

Carne Asada Burrito with beans and rice

We came here yesterday for lunch out of lunchtime and was still packed inside. We've never been here before but have heard many reviews about it so decided to give it a try! We've also heard that this place was better than El Asadero, and it truly was. The staff was so much friendlier than EA, they greeted us and talked with us, made sure we were doing okay, and the food tasted better here. The inside is pretty small, only about 7-8 tables. We thought it wasn't a sit-down restaurant but turned out that it was so it was nice to sit down and relax after a busy morning. We ordered 6 rolled tacos with chicken, the 2 enchilada combination that came with beans and rice, the carne asada burrito special with beans and rice, and the chimichanga combination with beans and rice. With each meal, they gave us a few carrots which were nice. The beans were great, came with a lot of cheese on top of them and were very hot and fresh when the plates came to the table. The rice was alright, didn't have any spice or flavor to it like most other places have, wouldn't get the rice again unless they changed or added something to them. 6 Rolled Tacos: They were a little dry, it didn't have enough of the toppings on it (guacamole, lettuce, tomato, and cheese). Would probably go to another place only to get these. Chimichanga: Got shredded beef with it and was very good. The beef was flavorful, very tender, but had several big pieces of fat in it. Ordered a side of enchilada sauce to put on top and made it fantastic. 2 Enchiladas (1 Shredded Beef and 1 Ground Beef): The shredded beef was fantastic, had great flavor by itself. The enchilada sauce was good, came out hot. The ground beef wasn't very good, didn't have any flavor if by itself, but came out hot as well. Asada Burrito: Burrito was good, Asada was flavorful and good, came with salsa inside which was nice. Would definitily recommend for a quick lunch (sit-down) or dinner.

My husband and I tried this place for the first time. It's a cute, clean little place near the mall in Merced. It's perfect location not far from the UA Theater. I like the fact that their menu is one page front and back. Instead of 15 million pages. We ordered what looked good and what was popular in other places we had been to compare. They're wet burrito is very well done. The flavor was great and the price was amazing. Their shrimp tostada was very flavorful and packed with shrimp. The horchata was okay, however a little bit more cinnamon and a splash of rice flour would make such a difference. We will definitely be back here to try more items on the menu. I think this is a hidden gem.

Super quesadilla(huge)

First time trying this place and it did not disappoint. Chips and salsa were very good. Super quesadilla was delicious and huge! My usual dish at a Mexican restaurant is the camarones al mojo we ajo(garlic shrimp) so ive tried this dish all over merced restaurants and Villas was so good, I was not disappointed at all. We will be going back!

I got the camarones a la diabla burrito. It was okay, but not great. Too wet. The salsas on the side had no spice.

It's not a very big restaurant, but when you walk in it seems there might be a private room immediately on the right side of entry, unless it's just a small area to the restrooms. Almost all the tables were taken, but these ladies hustled! As soon as we ordered the service was fast and they did not miss a beat. As soon as my son sipped his last drink, here comes the lady with another drink. I was so impressed with the service here. I watched other tables and she was on top of those tables too! The menu has so much to choose from that I didn't know what to get. I ended up getting a shrimp plate and I was sooo full that I didn't finish my food. They serve pretty good size portions here that I was anticipating eating all my food because I was hungry, but they came out with this big oval sized plate. I would love to come again. Service was amazing, it seems like a family owned business and they are super friendly and welcoming here. If you love Mexican food and you're from this are and don't know where to go, check this place out next time!

Ordered a couple of the drinks and they were good. The food not so much. Ordered; the coconut shrimp so disappointing. 1/5 Bland Ceviche samplers 2/5. The wings were ok. 3/5 The best thing was the camarones ala plancha nothing out of the ordinary. But the best thing the had. Not sure if I want to be back. I believe it's to expensive for what it is.

You know the food's gonna be good when there are Mexican grandmas eating breakfast there. We were brought chips with three different types of salsa. All were good but just different. The chips were amazing. Warm and crunchy. Our meals came out quickly and the chilaquiles were perfect: great sauce, the toppings were just right, the chips were still crunchy and not soggy. The beans were good. I do not speak on rice because I just don't love any Spanish rice. Overall, an excellent meal. We will be back.

I cannot express how good everything really was from top to bottom on the burrito. Carne asada was light, not chewy, seasoned well enough. Shrimp tasted like it was just freshly cooked. Tortilla was super thin and light, but held surprisingly well. Rice, which I often hate, was excellent. The Smokey chipotle sauce that comes with it was outstanding! On top of that all of their chips are VERY good. Salas had to of been made that day. They were spicy and exactly what I had hoped for in a salsa. Service was solid, my burrito was piping hot. I'd consider this place to be much more like a hole in the wall type business. They aren't big on the thrills, but man they deliver on the food. Burrito: 8.6/10 DEFINITELY will be back!
