Great Thai food spot! Was recommended this spot by a friend who has been coming since a kid and swears by it so we decided to come for songkran and I was really glad I did! This place was fire!! Many options and each plate was around 13-15 bucks 5 of us ate and still had left overs! Flavor was really really good! Service is great and fast once they attend you! I ordered 100 dollars worth of take out food. Specifically chicken chowmein. When we arrived home with the food my wife noticed that some of the chicken chowmein trays looked skimpy. Vim is such a great restaurant, I love eating here because the flavors are always perfect. Their catfish was my favorite, it was spicy with a unique blend of flavors, their seafood soup is also delicious and great with rice in the soup. The food is still amazing I do continue to love this place but unfortunately we will not be going back anymore. The prices have gone up extremely too much and on top of that that added a service fee of 20% for my family of 5 (both parents 3 kids) plus $20 tax. Bill was originally around $180 or so and with the charges it had gone up to around $220. We usually tip at the end leaving cash on the table but they had already charged us involuntarily for the tipping. I love this place but it has gotten way too expensive. read more

Ate, and was ready to pay when I got my receipt and noticed my food, drinks, the total plus a gratuity charge plus the tax plus another extra charge. My total came out to 139. and some change and I ended up paying 113. before I walked out cause I asked what were all these charges and he crossed everything out and said he pressed the wrong button. I always pay a lot there and now I think the whole time I was being charged extra so that the workers at the end of the night can walk away with extra money. That's ridiculous. I grew up visiting this place and enjoying family meals here, until yesterday's very disappointing experience. The broccoli was rancid, and it also affected the chow mien due to it. I couldn't believe that refunding me was questioned, nonetheless their cold response to the matter. Given what occurred, I couldn't get around to finishing seafood soup broth I ordered because I instantly lost trust in anything else from that point on. Still one of the best tasting pad Thai in town! Don't get deterred by the orange colored food.. it's definitely a good flavorful oil made in house I believe. Pork jerky is amazing with its chili dipping sauce (a must!) and crab fried rice was good too, but I would rather have ordered another shrimp pad Thai. October 2025 I grew up here in Los Angeles. I'm from Hollywood. I am Thai and I grew up coming to this restaurant with my parents who were regular costumers. Upon returning to this restaurant to show my kids the area I grew up in, I wanted to bring them to a restaurant I knew had good, authentic Thai food. The atmosphere was different as soon as I realized they were playing Mexican mariachi music instead of Thai music. What is the world??? It's weird. Imagine going to a Mexican restaurant that plays Thai music. I think a Mexican person wouldn't appreciate that. The Thai coffee was half coffee and half condensed milk, and was way too sweet. The next inauthentic thing I noticed was the silverware. It only came with forks and one serving spoon. Traditionally Thai people eat with a fork and a spoon together. The chicken fried rice was bland without eggs stir fried into it, and no lemon on the side. The table seasoning at a traditional Thai restaurant would consist of 4 seasonings: sugar, dried chili powder, jalapeño and vinegar, fish sauce. All they had was chili oil and garlic chili sauce. The fried spicy fish was terrible, and the boat noodle was also bland and was missing the meatballs and tripe. I would not recommend to anyone who wants authentic Thai food. They were catering to non-Thai people. I was disappointed with the food and will never return. read more
