I've been to this popular plaza in thai town so many times and always see this restaurant here. i was planning on visiting the more popular restuarant, ruen pair, but once i saw the line out the door, we decided to go to thai patio instead. We got their pad thai, tom yum, and crab cakes. Everything was really yummy! No regrets coming here because there was no wait, the food was yummy, and it was pretty cheap! 1/5 Very disappointing experience. I ordered the Panang Curry with Fried Fish through DoorDash yesterday, and I honestly couldn't believe how dry it was. There was barely any curry sauce whatsoever--it was basically dry fried fish with a tiny amount of sauce. Panang curry is supposed to be creamy, rich, and full of flavor, so this was definitely not what I expected or what I paid for. Considering the price of the food plus delivery fees, the quality was simply not worth the money. I was really looking forward to this meal and ended up extremely disappointed and frustrated. Let me preface this by saying that it makes me sad to see a cherished restaurant slide so aggressively into mediocrity. I have been coming to this establishment since it was known as Palm Thai. The change of ownership and the name change to Thai Patio started off strong. The food, in the past, has been excellent. But I went with my wife on the evening of August 25, 2026 and the food was worse than mediocre. My wife ordered the Thai salad, which comes topped with chicken and shrimp, and it was inedible. The chicken was simply boiled but not seasoned. That makes the meat taste like it was prepared for dogs, not humans. No salt added, no pepper, no nothing. It smelled awful and tasted just as bad. Only two shrimp were placed on the salad. Shrinkflation I suppose could explain that. How sad. The salad dressing was tasty but because of the chicken, the entire salad was inedible. It was revolting. And I don't use that word lightly. Mind you, I have been a customer for about 20 years here. It makes me sad to describe them using these words but it is true. The food was not fit for human consumption. I ordered the spicy seafood soup. I requested extra spicy. My soup didn't have ANY spice at all. Not even salt or pepper. It was bland as could be. It did have plenty of lemon, which helped a little. But they somehow managed to make the fish, which is intrinsically salty, taste bland to the point of being awful. Another inedible dish. Same with the crab. Rather than angry, the whole experience made me sad. Sad to see a restaurant I had always enjoyed dragged into mediocrity. I had brought girlfriends and now my wife, friends, my daughter here. But after this experience I won't return. This was so bad I am skeptical this is something that is fixable. And about the service, I was also disappointed. The server was quick to take our order and bring our meal but didn't check in on us after our meal was served. We never got an opportunity to tell her that the food was not up to its usual tastiness. Not even close. The next time she showed up was when we were disappointed enough to ask for our check a without any intent to struggle through the meal. She asked how it was but didn't even give us a chance to tell her that it sucked. No attempt to make it right. No real concern. I get it. She probably doesn't get paid nearly enough to care she didn't cook it so I can't blame her. And if the cook was trained to not use any spices, then it's not the cooks fault either. This is a problem that points to a total failure at the management level. Whatever was good with the restaurant is gone. The quality is gone. All that's left is an establishment that merely occupies the physical place where an excellent restaurant once stood. All that's left is a restaurant that borders on the criminally disgusting in its food and tragically mediocre in every other aspect. Next time, I'm going to Palm Thai or any other place. But Thai Patio? Only the memories remain. This place ain't it. Don't eat here. read more

I had no issue with parking but I'm sure at peak times it isn't pleasant. I was seated right away and ordered the Thai tea, spring rolls and chicken pad thai. Service was EXCELLENT. The tea was great and the appetizer was delicious- fresh and flavorful. The pad Thai, it is the biggest serving of pad Thai I have ever had...it honestly will last me 3-4 meals and I can eat a lot. We tried: peppercorn curry, papaya salad, jungle curry, crispy pork belly, and roast duck salad with a bucket of rice - which came in a literal bucket! Soup - Tom Kha (medium level) was sweet & flavorful with just enough spice to feel the kick. I do wish there were more veggies than just mushrooms. I used to enjoy this place until the quality of the food and service went down. I placed an online order, and the chow mein was spicier than the selected level. We couldn't eat it, so I called the restaurant to let them know it was alot spicier than the selected level. The woman explained the spice levels and said that to get a refund, I would have to call the third-party company that completed the online order, since they don't issue refunds for online orders. I called the third party and left a message. They responded the next day via email. The rep stated the manager would call me that same day, which they never did. Days later, I emailed the third party, stating I hadn't received a call from the owner, and they recommended that I call the restaurant and speak to the manager to have the refund approved. Although the restaurant employee had instructed me to call the third party for a refund, I tried to reach the manager but got no answer. Highly disappointed that a solution couldn't be discussed with the manager. I would have been okay with bringing the food back to them to remake, but the only solution they offered was a refund, which I did not ask for and they did not honor. One of my favorite Thai restaurants. I always get the chicken satay and pineapple fried rice. Big pieces of chicken, very flavorful. The fried rice is very savory. Cashew nut chicken is awesome. The drunken noodles are spicy! I didn't like their orange chicken, though. I like mine on the crispier side. Their sauce is also very sweet and tangy. The service is good. Sometimes they get busy during rush hour and you have to flag them down. They do their rounds and check in on tables, though, unlike some other places. Under California's "junk fee" law (SB 478), businesses must include all mandatory fees in the posted price. I came here with my parents after a short hiking day at the Griffith Observatory. The food was top-tier. We had no idea the portions were so big (they're like family-style, rather than individual dishes), so we had to take some home. The Golden Crab Bags (one of the appetizers) was definitely an unexpected winner. The Sa-te chicken (that's how they spelled it in their menu), or Satay chicken, as I know it, was, as always, a winner in my book. Their Pad See Ew was just ok but the Pad Thai is incredible. While the restaurant itself isn't the most romantic setting (I wouldn't recommend it for a date night), the food and service are excellent! I highly recommend trying the fried shrimp stuffed with ground chicken, accompanied by a chili sauce. The green curry (number 53) is also delicious, featuring wonderful flavors. It could be even better with higher-quality vegetables like eggplant and onion, as it currently comes with bell peppers, bamboo shoots, and green beans. Nonetheless, it's still very tasty! I've been coming to Thai Patio and Thai Town sister businesses here in the New Hollywood Plaza for a long time. It's one of my favorites for many reasons. Try the spicy seafood soup which features about fifty dollars worth of premium seafood. It is served in a flaming pot and it has cured quite a few colds for me and my friends. Five stars. Be adventurous and give the traditional Thai dishes a shot, like the wild boar. You can choose from numerous vegetarian and vegan options as nearly the entire four page menu can be made with fried or steamed tofu instead of meat. Thai Patio has been featuring local live musicians and late night eats for a long time. A true story about Thai Town USA and poem to follow. Skip to the end or bypass if that's not your thing. Come here for the great food, service and value. I started coming here in the late nineties when I was a teenager in a rock band. Back then, the Hollywood music scene was incredible but we didn't have Uber or Lyft to help us make it home safely. To help people in Hollywood get home safely, and reduce automotive fatalities, a few Thai restaurants in the area opened their doors after the bars and clubs closed. My band loved the lifesaving efforts from the Thai community and this restaurant, so we came here every day before rehearsal and recommended this restaurant to our fans to make sure they made it home. Once upon a time there was a handicapped and disabled person who failed a field sobriety test due to her handicaps. And though she passed a few blood alcohol tests, it was difficult to explain she was blind where her field test was given. She thought about cashing with a lawsuit in honor of disabled people but at the height of the pandemic there was something much more important. In honor of George Floyd, she collected signatures from criminals who took credit for their actions and asked to forward their support for better treatment to people of color and with disabilities in a signed letter to a judge. The white career criminals who turned themselves in for their actions in honor of a black man is my personal favorite part of that story. This seems like a beautiful place to leave a poem. Thai Patio has generous portions and affordable prices. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and the location is super convenient. Parking is confusing and valet only which is upsetting, but that is true for any restaurant in this plaza. Be sure to tell the staff if you don't eat meat, I got tofu pad thai and it also came with spam/ham chunks which was really disappointing. Every other dish I've tried was really tasty and I always had leftovers for the next day which is a plus.
