My husband and I ordered three items: egg roll, sweet and sour chicken and shrimp pad thai. The egg roll and the chicken were overly cooked and tasted like the bad oil from the fryer. My husband called the chicken "chicken Jerky" it was so tough. I just spit it out. The shrimp in the pad thai was not shelled, and the pad thai had an off flavor taste. While we appreciate hard workers in the restaurant business, this food should not be sold. Terrible. read more

This place was so good. My boyfriend and I were craving pad Thai. He loves his stuff spicy and I like mine mild. We walked in and were immediately seated. We ordered Thai iced teas that came out incredibly quick and were so delicious. When my boyfriend ordered his pad Thai and said he wanted it spicy, they asked him how spicy, he just said, "Spicy" And our server nodded and walked away. The food came out really quick. Like, wow. Both our pad Thai's were delicious and the perfect spice levels. Our bill only came out to under $30 and we still had left overs! My daughter and I ate here last night. The food was excellent. This morning my daughter was so sick and had a migraine headache. When I took her to the airport, she asked me to call and ask if they use MSG. Lo and behold YES THEY DO. She is allergic to that crap. I gave this new place a shot on a busy Friday night and it was pretty good- I might go back but probably not- I walked in and the place felt nice, clean, spacious- I was glad that they had booths too- tables and chairs do the job but comfy booths are always my preference :) the service seemed a little frazzled- I don't think they have a good busy weekend night rhythm down yet and just seemed a bit overwhelmed- I tried the mussaman curry with chicken and a Thai iced tea- the curry itself was excellent- it had more spice and a depth of flavor that really is uncommon- they clearly use more ingredients then the standard recipes and I appreciated that- the Thai iced tea was really strong too which I loved- the weird thing was the curry didn't come with rice- I ordered some- after I got my entree- because when I ordered I wrongfully assumed (based on my experience with I believe literally every other Thai restaurant I've ever been to anywhere) that rice as a side is standard.. so the menu price that I thought was lower then others is actually the same when you order the rice- although he didn't charge me for it... Was curious as to if this change of ownership and updating of the previous Thai restaurant was up to the reviews about improvement being recorded for this place. The redecorated interior was nice, though we hadn't minded the folksy previous decor either. There were several other diners already in place as we arrived early (11AM) for lunch. The menu was quite extensive and initially overwhelming so we ordered what we did know - myself the Pad Thai and husband had beef fried rice. I am not able to eat gluten so couldn't have the won tons or won ton soup. My request for a substituted meal soup resulted in a HUGE pot of soup that was delightfully tasty. The servings were large, and my Pad Thai lovely - neither too sweet as many Thai places do, and with a nicely interesting taste too. My only disappointment was that the left overs I took home and reheated ended up rather tasteless. Guess Pad Thai doesn't reheat well. My husband's Beef Fried Rice was large but a bit less tasty than he would have enjoyed. He also struggled with the fried egg on top as it didn't cut easy with a fork's edge and no knife was provided. The servers were very friendly, helpful and service fast for me, but slower for husband's plate. We are happy to find a new place to enjoy in Medford which has many ethnic restaurants - which all seem to offer American-ized food instead of authentic cuisine. Our biggest challenge is to 'digest' the varied menu so we can order other new - to us - plates to taste and enjoy. Recommended for giving this a try for your own tastes and reviews. read more

I made my second visit here today and I expect to be back often for lunch. Great food. I have had both the Pork Jerky (delicious and spicy) and the Phad Thai (perfect comfort food) and both have been excellent. I also really enjoyed the shrimp wonton soup. It was delicious and I can see myself ordering just a big bowl of that some cold winter afternoon! I also was pleased to see some dishes I haven't see on other Thai restaurant menus around town.They have done a great job remoldeling the restaurant and it has a very nice atmosphere. I walked in and was immediately greeted with friendly smiles and an amazing smell of authentic Thai food. I ordered the chili, garlic, and mint leaves and side of broccoli. The dish had full flavor and was the perfect spice (which I asked for and they nailed it). The broccoli was perfect, not overcooked whatsoever. I definitely recommend Vim Thai. It may not be 100% authentic, but the ingredients are fresh and cooked perfectly, ask the while full of flavor. I was excited to see a new thai restaurant come to medford. The pork jerkey was amazings. The dipping sauce for it was strong in all of its flavors, but beware if you are not into spicy because that sauce kicks up in heat with every bite. My boyfriend and I decided to try the special, which was spicy broccoli with cashew nuts and a choice of meat or tofu. Normally I order chicken from most asain restaurants to bypass the freeze dried strange tasting stuff passed as beef. Being this was my first time at Vim I wanted to give them a run for their money and see the true quality of what they are working with, so I chose the beef with the special. It was great, it had great flavor and plenty of sauce. My only complaint is the special called it "spicy broccoli" and I did not find it spicy in the least bit. We also ordered the phad thai with chicken. The phad thai was good, and hearty, boy was that big. I will have to say that it was not my favorite phad thai, but in no way was this dish bad. Just not too my personal preference. Speaking of favorites, the thai iced tea here, if not my favorite, its my second favorite. I liked that it was not as sweet as other places. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Moving on to my biggest complaint. There were signs up in the restaurant about dessert. The signs were very unclear as to what they were offering. My boyfriend and I ordered what we thought was a creme brule, to share. Kind of weird at a thai place but I do love creme brule, so what the hay. Well it came out and it was not what we thought. It was cheesecake, with a burnt carmel sauce on the top. Okay, that's fine, I also love cheesecake! Now this, actually was kind of inedible. It was 100% frozen and tasted as if it had been in the freezer too long. I'm definitely going to try another dessert from Vim, but maybe I'll ask for a recommendation from the wait staff next time. read more

This is my favorite restaurant in medford. Super fresh, traditional, and delicious every time. The ambiance is absolutely perfect for any dining experience, from a business lunch to a hot date. Louis will take excellent care of you whether you're a regular or a first timer. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's all great, which is rare for me to trust a restaurant enough to venture out from my favorites.
