I was looking for some good pho while visiting Spokane for the day and I wasn't disappointed! I went with the beef pho (minus the tendon and tripe). The broth had a nice delicate flavor to it! Yes, this makes me happy because I've had plenty of "pho" where the broth might as well be hot water. I saw that you can do a mix of the bubble tea flavors so I tried honeydew and green tea. I felt that the honeydew was more overpowering until I got to the bottom of my cup where they seemed to have balanced out (weird since it was blended so I thought it would be pretty well mixed). The tapioca balls were half good, half bad. Had the egg roll as an app and it was your usual Chinese deep fried egg roll. I'd definitely come back to order pho again (and probably try another flavor of bubble tea)! read more

I am excited to announce that I have finaaaaallly found a place that serves Pho Bo with almost everything!! When I mean everything, I mean most of what should be in there - tripe, meat balls, tendon, beef slices, and beef rib (although I'm more used to tail, this will have to do). The decor isn't really upscale, but more of something you would typically find in an Asian restaurant. The waitresses are nice, and the food comes out fairly quickly. The menu is also pretty extensive - there is a lot Chinese food on the menu and a decent amount of Vietnamese food. I am excited to see that they also have Bun Bo Hue there (which I heard was pretty tasty) and some bun dishes! I have been going to this Asian restaurant since they opened 9 years ago. Although I started dining there for there pho, I came to realize they do a very nice job on Chinese cuisine as well! The two siblings who own Vina have always been pleasant and welcoming. They work hard to make sure everyone is catered to in a timely fashion. Personally, I really like their pho. I like their stock and all the meats you can get with the noodles. We always order spring rolls too. On the Chinese cuisine, they do a very nice version of roast duck and when freshly cooked is delicious over rice. I also like how they do their "pepper and salt shrimp" in the shell. Vina is always busy on weekends. They have a very strong local Vietnamese following, for lunch and dinner. In Spokane, you should try Vina if you have a hankering for some delicious pho! read more

We drove by this little strip mall restaurant for a few years, always commenting about how busy it is, it must be good. Finally, this month we stopped and had dinner. What a wonderful surprise - our dinner was very good. The place smells so great you'll never want to leave. The fresh spring rolls were terrifically fresh and flavorful. We tried about 4 different dishes - a duck dish, a squid dish, chicken and a pork fried rice - all were fresh, flavorful and well conceived. They didn't taste too americanized - or "dumbed down" - instead, they were made to enjoy by people seeking good food. We were also delighted to find their prices very reasonable - you can have a terrific lunch or dinner for $10-12 a person, if you'd like - plenty of choices and a also a robust Pho menu to choose from. We'll be going back to sample their Pho - other diners were enjoying soup and they looked GREAT. Their Chinese offerings get a thumbs up. Service was very helpful and friendly - once she realized we were new, she helped us discover the menu and guided us on how to order the right level of spiciness. Wouldn't go back if it was free. I ordered Pho Tai and it was some of the nastiest I've ever eaten, if not the worst. Six small tough grey pieces of meat, a one-dimensional sugary broth and very little (if any) broth seasoning or spices like cinnamon, ginger, coriander, star anise, cardamom or etc. The only bouquet coming off the broth was stale beef. My sons called it candy Pho. Service was poor, the place is dirty. I'm disappointed we went there not only because the Pho was bad, but the other dishes we ordered weren't much better. I ended up just killing the taste of the broth with lime wedges, Thai basil and chili sauce. I might not be a Pho expert but I have eaten my fair share of Pho... We spent 6 weeks in Vietnam, travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi by bus and train. Ate Pho everywhere I could, and continue to eat Pho all over N. America. I enjoy the diverse interpretations of what Pho should/can be, I recognize that every place has their 'own secret broth' and I love it for that. Let me start by saying what I had was good. Not the best Pho I've ever had, though they charge like it is gourmet. Same goes for the Fresh Rolls - good but the most expensive of any place in Spokane or the Seattle areas. The broth was deep in flavor, that's good. The beef wasn't gristley or fatty, that too is good. The beef also didn't taste like it was sliced McDonalds hamburger, again that's good. My biggest complaint there would be the tiny pieces of beef. I like them bite sized but these were small 'popcorn' sized with a few decent sized thrown in. The bad is the service, really bad. Really. Bad. The parking can be a nightmare with people parking parellel behind you, in designated spots but that makes it no easier to get in or put of. Did I mention very expensive for Pho? If not for the price, quality for said price, service, and parking this would be a solid 4 stars, maybe even a five. read more

Decided to give this place a try when we heard it had good food and cheap prices. Check and check. We chose to stick to the more traditional fare, partly because we were starving and didn't want to take any chances, and partly because we still aren't sure what pho is exactly. The vegetable curry with tofu was excellent. Vegetables were cooked nicely with the crispness intact, as was the tofu. Same can be said about the kung pao. Both dishes were ordered at "medium" spice level, which turned out perfectly. Just hot enough to make your nose run a little, yet mild enough to eat your fill comfortably. Found exactly what we were looking for with this place, sort of an asian "comfort food" with large portions. Quick and attentive service with more than fair prices. We will definitely be coming back to order some of the more adventurous yet delicious looking entrees we could see at the other tables read more

Bun Cha has indeed been added, although the meat portions are small and the prices have taken a severe hike - $7.75 Pho is likewise meat-stingy and now $6.99 for a large. Duck prices are now outrageous at $10.99 (half) and $20.99 (whole). Thank goodness I now know how to roast my own. Salt & Pepper Squid is now $11.99 and not properly prepared - don't order. Tofu & Yu-choy was an abysmally anemic looking dish - don't order. I hesitate to recommend this place anymore- at least not until I've tried Pho Van in comparison. I arrived just before 1pm but they were pretty busy and a lot of people arrived even when I was eating. I ordered spring rolls and beef pho. I noticed that they had other noodle soups that I would love to try but I really wanted pho today. The spring rolls came with peanut sauce that was more watery than I was used to but actually like that consistency better to dip. The spring rolls did not have too much noodles like other places. I got a large pho which wasn't too large in my opinion. The soup tasted good but had a weird green/yellow oil slick that I've never seen before. There was a lot of noodles but not that much meat. If you want lots of asian food and don't want to spend a lot, this is THE place to go. This is a decent place for Asian food, depending on what you want to eat. The pho was great! The second pho place I've ever tried, and the only one in Spokane, it met my standards. The tendons and beef were delicious and the tripe was plentiful and delicious. The broth was flavorful. The Mongolian beef was outstanding, although as is usually the case, there was little meat and mostly vegetables. But it was DELICIOUSSSSS!!!! The sesame chicken was par for sesame chicken in Spokane, and I have yet to find good sesame chicken here. It was delicious, just not what I think sesame chicken ought to be. But on the plus side, it was crispy but not heavily breaded, and you could tell it was chicken. Meaty and delicious, with enough sauce but not too much. Oh, the hot and sour soup. They ask how hot you like it, on a scale from one to five, and I exuberantly shouted "Five!!!!!" I received skeptical looks, but it did deliver. It was exactly how spicy food should be: spicy enough without being so spicy that you can't enjoy the dish (and we LOVE it spicy!!!) And soooo flavorful and full of mushrooms and tofu and whatever else they put in it to add texture. Definitely in the top 3 for hot and sour soup not just in Spokane but in all 3 states and 5 cities I've lived in. The orange chicken though? Unbelievable. It redefined orange chicken for me. Firstly, it was orange. And it tasted like oranges. But it didn't have so much sauce that you couldn't taste the chicken. It was slightly more heavily breaded than the sesame chicken, but it was good because it got you more sauce per bite. The egg flower soup was also tasty. I hate when it tastes all sulfury like hardboiled eggs, or is gloppy, but this had a nice texture and a light delicate flavor. The egg rolls!!! Amazing!! Large, full of meat (you could even tell it was meat), perfectly cooked. And the sweet and sour sauce was also yumalicious (I usually do not like sweet and sour sauce). The chow mein and fried rice were ho-hum and generic. I did not eat the fried rice because it was so lackluster. But this is not quite a deal-breaker for me. The chow mein was greasy-tasting and flavorless, but better than nothing. I can make much better fried rice at home (of course, my standard for delicious friend rice is at tepanyaki grills where they make it in front of you--anything that is less delicious than that doesn't make the cut for me). The fortune cookies were interesting. I generally don't like fortune cookies because they're not even Chinese and usually the fortunes are stupid and not even fortunes anymore. Out of the 3 cookies I got, only one even HAD a fortune inside, which said "Seeing is believing" and had a Spanish translation on the reverse side. I was positively insulted. But then I ate one and they are DELICIOUS! Great vanilla flavor and not too hard. Crispy rather than crunchy. I loved it. Oh, don't even get me started on the price. We originally were going to go for Peking North, which would have been $35 with tax and delivery for sesame chicken and chow mein and nothing else. At Vina, it was $30 for two combos with 2 entrees each (I had one with mongolian beef and sesame chicken, the other with orange chicken and sesame chicken), rice or chow mein, an egg roll, and egg flower soup in each combo; plus a large container or pho and a large container of hot and sour soup for takeout. Best value for the money, hands down. Same quality as Hong Kong Express and Red Dragon but at a MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper cost (if you don't mind not getting it delivered). read more

Another pho place in the city was my go to for awhile until I stumble into Vina and I've never looked back. Let my start by saying the service here can be hit or miss not unprofessional or anything like that but can move slow at times. But if you're looking for great tasting pho or other great soups this is the best in the city. My wife and I can order an app and two large soups for lunch and still have it come in close or under 20 bucks for dinner. The best pho I've EVER had....Seriously (and not because the sign out front says "best in town"). I always order the seafood pho minus the fish cake. The broth is so good, I can't even explain how phenomenal it is. My husband gets the chicken pho and you can tell that the chicken bones have been simmering for hours to make such a flavorful broth. Boyfriend and I just moved to Spokane and we were on a food mission for our go to Vietnamese food place. Yes we found it! The food here taste like home, it's authentic and fresh. We haven't tried the Chinese food yet but we will one day. The pho broth is flavorful and I love the fact that you can pick and choose which meats you want which is a plus. Best Pho in Spokane, hands down. I'm glad they finally added the pork chop and vermicelli noodle dish to their menu. My only complaint is once you get away from the Vietnamese side of the menu the place gets really bad. So, if you go to Vina's please do not order any of the Chinese-American dishes and you will be very happy. I will add this though. You are safe ordering from the appetizers part of the menu. I love this place. I go there so often i'm like part of their family now! They are open till 9pm weeknights which is great, plus, everything on the menu is cheap and huge portion sizes. There is always plenty left over for lunch the next day. My favorite items on the menu are Curry Tofu Veggie, Kung Pow Tofu Veggie and Veggie Pho. Their combo meals are yummy too. Was told this was the #1 spot for Pho, but was a measily selection of Pho, had to pay extra for standard veggies that normally come with it in other places, no bok choy or nice sauces to add to it, had to wait literally about 45 minutes for it (the place was only half full), my daughter's fried rice was dry and actually crunchy - had to send it back. Her orange chicken looked like it had melted orange sherbet on it and was soft and weird - had to send that back too. They hardly ever checked on us and actually admitted that they forgot about us when we were waiting for all eternity for the check.
