Vinny as you can imagine is a Sicilian immigrant who has been here stateside for 30 years...but still speaks broken English as if he just got here from Sicily.....being Italian,I am partial to Italian/Sicilian tailors and due to my own personal bias am convinced that they are THE BEST. So, when I was getting married in 2006, I did not want to spend the OBSCENE prices the local bridal shops charge for alterations, instead I found Vinny. He does not do the wedding dresses himself, he has a gal (another Italian, this one from Bari who designs wedding dresses for a living) who does the alterations. I had a two piece dress...a dress with a lace duster over it both pieces required some work and I needed some hooks put in to put the train of my dress up at the reception. Everything was done in less than a week and I paid $ 70.00....those of you who have gotten alterations especially on a wedding dress or other formal dress know that $ 70 bucks is like FREE. Vinnie is just as sweet as pie... until you ask him about his prices. He gets offended and says "if you want to shop around, if you try to bring it back to me, I'm going to charge you more." Really... No and no. Will not be back. And this was a repeat visit. He did a dress for me that still did not fit accurately. I brought it back months later to add a strap across the back and he claims that I did not tell him I wanted it to fit the way I was saying now, really? The best job he did for me was the pants, although I can see the stitching from the outside. So if you're ready to pay any price that he quotes, go ahead and go. read more

If I could give a zero I would be with no doubt. Earlier today I had called to ask if my jeans that had a rip by thigh area could be stitched together (keep in mind I was talking in my regular professional voice) Vinnie claimed it wouldn't be an issue and he will know the price by the time I get there. Once I arrived at the location and got to the door Vinnie was waiting at the door and before I even showed him the jeans he began to close his door with a disbelieved face. Awkwardly I greeted him and began to show him my jeans from the screen door (where he couldn't even get a good look at it) however throughout me showing the jeans he had repeated "get new jeans, I can't fix it" with a disgraceful attitude. I was basically begging him to come outside and just inspect the jeans. I had finally gave up and awkwardly asked through the screen door if he can recommend me to anyone else in the area since I had drove 30 minutes for a screen door conversation, and he repeated it's not fixable and everyone else is "closed on Saturday". I had googled another lady got to her address and got it complete and stitched perfectly in 15 minutes. With me being a 6'3 darkskin male and Vinnie being a Italian old man I believe that was a part in Vinnies decision not to give me service. read more

First let me say he got the job done on my pants on less then 24 hrs. On a reasonable price however, the reason I gave it 3 stars because he kept trying to upsale me about altercation and raffle tickets. makes me uncomfortable to say no several times. Therefore, I won't be coming back. But if you don't have a problem saying NO or need a altercation done within 24 hours then I would recommend vinny. Just got my pants hemmed today and man Vinnie did the most awesome job! I've taken my other pants to get the same 2 inch hem job and there is no comparison! He was very quick and precise with his sewing. The stitching was PERFECT! Not only that he took me by appointment on a SUNDAY when no other places would. He's very friendly and professional and works from home but the environment was totally SAFE. I plan on taking some dresses for him to alter for me once I've tighten up the tummy a little bit more. *Note* This review is based on customer service as I've never had anything tailored yet from him but will in the future. I called Vinnie about sewing a pocket from a 1978 Half Zip Nike Windbreaker. As I arrived he greeted me and sparked up a chat. You can tell he loves to be around people and very friendly. Unfortunately the jacket was unsewable due to the rips occurring at odd points. What I really appreciate is that Vinnie let me know this. He is very honest and will appreciate what you have. If he knows it can't be saved, he will tell you rather than trying to attempt something and ruin it further. Just for that alone, I'll give him 5/5 and will return for more work in future. read more

Very opinionated and could come across rude. He's very demanding doesn't answer immediately when he calls you. He's retired so he has nothing to do but when you're busy, working individual who juggles a family and everything else, you may miss his call, he gets upset. I'm at work. I can't answer personal calls during the day. Leave me a message and I'll call you back. Geez. I wanted to cuff my pants. Oh no! He said no. It's no longer in fashion. Wth! It's my pants. He didn't do it. He also charged me $160 to hem my pants and blazer. That's a lot then wants to make it $180 cuz he has a hard time. Not cool. I never get tailoring done, so I read over the reviews before picking someone to alter Mother of the Bride and 2 bridesmaid's dresses. I was very nervous because 1) the bride, my daughter is VERY picky, 2) the dresses couldn't be ordered anymore and 3) the wedding was three weeks away. When we went to find the shop, we learned that it had moved and after following his instructions we ended up at his house - a little creepy. Vinnie was extremely polite, a little hard to understand (he has a thick Italian accent) and friendly. Nothing creepy at all, no awkward dressing or "fitting" situations. The alterations were a little difficult, but Vinnie did a fantastic job!!! His work is flawless. You can't even tell that anything was resewn. I would HIGHLY recommend for any work, no matter how difficult!! read more

I gave Vinnie 3 jeans to shorten since I'm really tiny, mind you their skinny jeans, he tells me he has never done any jeans as tiny as mines (skinny jeans). Unbelievable! My review from August was deleted or removed without notice. I am reposting my review so others can avoid the mistake I made. I paid almost 200 for a $35 drycleaner alteration. He told me the price was based on all the work he had to do to the suit with me being overweight. He then called me the very next morning (12 hours later) to say he was done. Either he lied about the price or he lid about the amount of work - which one was it? He will quote you based on the brand of your watch, the type of car you drive, and what you do for a living. I thought he was just a sweet old man making small talk. He constantly made comments about my weight which I found very rude, and then when I picked up and tried the suit on and it didn't fit he blamed me and my weight. Amazing. Unbelievable. He didn't even take any measurements, didn't use any chalk. I have the exact same suit in same size just in a different color so I know what my suit should fit like. Horrible experience. Paid him his money and left but the suit was donated. Completely let down. I wore a different suit to the wedding this one was for. He may be good for simple alterations, but cannot recommend him for Tailoring and looking your best. Vince. read more

People, if you want a 'real' tailor ,Vinnie is the man! He has his shop in his garage but every thing is professional. He used to have a store but closed it to save on overhead costs. I brought in a pair of pants to get hemmed and tapered, wow what a great job he did. I will never take my clothes to get altered anywhere else. You will be totally happy with this man's work. He is Italian and knows his stuff. Go buy a inexpensive suit and he will make it look like a real expensive Italian suit. read more

Phenomenal work. He did some amazing correction work on a few pairs of pants that had the legs tapered. His customer service is amazing.

Vinny did a great job on the bridesmaid dress we brought him to alter. The dress had three layers of thin material that needed to be shortened, which is no easy task, and he made it look as if it was store bought that way. Over all it was professional grade work, he was very nice and respectful, and the price was low for what the job entailed. He is able to keep a low price because he doesnt have to pay for a store front. We highly recommend Vinny and will go back to him again if we need anything else altered. read more

Vinnie is detailed and careful. He goes out of his way to make your clothes look great. This is a residential property and he does work out of his home. Don't be worried to go in and try on your clothes for the first time. It's safe and he is extremely professional. Call ahead and let him know you're coming by. Most of the time he'll be done with your clothes in 24 hours with no extra charge. I have him 3 pants and a blazer to fix. Done the next morning! I can never go anywhere else now.
