This place is great for a fresh late night slice! Came here around midnight with a friend. We were on the lookout for something cheap but tasty that was open at the late hour. Since it was late the inside was closed and you had to order at the outdoor counter. Additionally, they had a limited menu because of the late hour. They were only selling cheese and pepperoni slices. The line to order moved quickly. There were lots of people waiting for their pizza so the electricity of a night in downtown Savannah is maintained as you wait. We waited around 15 minutes for our pizza to be ready. The slices are HUGE. And I do mean huge. For under $5 these slices are a steal. Since there were so many folks ordering, the pizza came out piping hot. There was ample cheese on the slices and the crust was perfectly then and had a good crisp to it. read more

We came here to grab something easy to take to our hotel room down the street. I have to admit that I wasn't really expecting much from Vinnie Van Go-Go's but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered a medium pizza with sausage. Although we couldn't reach them by phone to place our order, it was easy enough to walk up to the outside take out stand and place our order. We came back 25 minutes later, paid a reasonable price and brought our pizza back to our room. It was a nicely cooked pizza with good tasting sauce and the sausage was out of this world. They use sliced, hot Italian sausage (that's what it tasted like to me) and had a nice kick. My wife thought it was too spicy but I loved the little bit of heat. I had to go to the bar and tell her we've been waiting for a while and she skipped us. Her matter of fact response, "I'm getting to you next". No apology, acknowledge or offer to correct things. Overall - the best NY / NJ style pizza in Savannah, you will enjoy Food - plain and simple really good pizza. We got a half margarita / half pepperoni pizza and it was almost as good as being back home NJ. This is our favorite spot whenever we are in Savannah. It was recommended by a local on a ghost tour and we've been going ever since. We normally get a couple slices to go but the last time we went with friends who wanted to sit and eat. The service was good and the atmosphere was friendly and fun. The pizza slices are huge. I ordered two slices, thinking they were similar in size as a traditional one. I would have been happy with just 2/3 of one slice. There is a long wait, but it is quicker to order to-go and find a place to sit in the plaza. There is plenty of seating, but the downside is that you may have to sit in the scorching sun in the middle of a Georgia summer. Vinny van Gogo was an enjoyable meal. It's a tourist trap for Savannah. But it actually is a good meal. I've had both the calzones and the actual pizza. They were both excellent I prefer the calzones a little bit more. They seem to have a better flavor. Not a huge fan of their sausage. It is sausage cut into pieces "not my favorite" But still very tasty. The whole family seemed to enjoy their meals. There was no complaints. While in town for a few days, we noticed this long line for Pizza, and we got curious. Turns out you have good reason to stand in line. We got a X-Large three topping pie cut into 12 good sized pieces. We would say this is one of the best pizzas any of us ever had, which was to our own surprise. And as transplanted northerners, we know something about pizza so this is pretty high praise. While it may be the best in the world, we certainly feel it's the best in Savannah. What's better than grabbing a slice of pizza in the middle of the day. I know many people like to consider this New York style pizza but it's definitely more of a Jersey style. Still good nonetheless. Each slice of pizza has a base charge and then there's an additional charge depending on your toppings. There's typically a long line which makes sense because the pizza is yummy. At one point they only accepted cash but things have changed and cards can be used. Pizza is sold by the slice or you can order an entire pie. Slices are big. Definitely bigger than the generic pizza places most of us are accustomed to. One thing I noticed is they no longer place single slices in their own little cardboard box, now the pizza is placed on a plate and that is then put into a paper bag. The only downside of this is the top of the bad pushes into the cheese and you lose some of your toppings to the bag. Other than that, a great & cheap pizza spot. read more
