Absolute MUST! I come to Alpharetta for two months every year on business and I always take a trip to Vinny's. I will admit, during my most recent trip here, the service was not as great as it had been in my previous experiences in the past, but the food is always great! I highly recommend the Sea Bass and the Salt & Pepper Calamari paired with a glass of Riesling. The cappaccino is really good too! They are famous for their jumbo crab cake, but I didn't find it anything to brag about. Maybe it was an 'off day' as I felt my crab cake was a bit on the salty side. read more

Met friends for dinner. Party of 5. Was really looking forward to it because they really love this place. I had the squash soup, chicken Parmesan , and my friend had risotto with shrimp. This is a beautiful restaurant. The food is meh. Risotto was aldente, not the creamy delicious risotto if it were prepared properly. Chicken Parmesan is a huge portion of food with fettuccini Alfredo but is bland, chicken dry. A little garlic, salt and pepper might go a long way. Squash soup was more like a purée baby food lacking that cream based consistency and broth based flavor and had (croutons) submerged that ended up being soggy bread. I don't mind paying for good food as their prices are aligned with the Alpharetta area but they honestly have better food at Olive Garden. read more

Went there for a dinner for the first time. Nice decor, okay food and too dark to see the person in front of me (will not be back) Don't get there too early since there is no waiting area. Ordered the rib-eye (medium). Started out tasting great, but half-way through I was struggling to finish my meal (it was over done, order medium-rare and started tasting bland oddly) My wife ordered the crab cake over pasta - was too salty and she said the same thing half-way through her meal. Also, apparently they have no set hours.. our waiter was saying they'll close early if there weren't many customers, so we sort of felt rushed. read more

How i love you Vinny's of windward!! I haven't had bad food here (granted ive only been twice, but still!!) The place itself is so bright and welcoming, its very conducive for chatting it up with whomever you have with you. Ive never had bad service here either, very quick and they always have great recommendations. First time i had crab cake over linguini and julienne vegetables and omg it was amazing!! It is a very indulgent dish, very heart and just hits all the right spots! It is very rich tho so i couldn't eat all of it (i tried tho!!) Second time i had the Rare Seared Tuna Sandwich and i was very pleasantly surprised how flavorful it was! My companions have been all happy with their dishes as well. I'll def. come back! Alot of people don't seem to like this place and perhaps they just had bad luck. Or maybe I just had good luck. I have been here a few times and each time has been awesome! The food is always perfect and so is the service. I frequent the restaurants in the is group often and perhaps I just have a taste for their service, atmosphere, and food. I will say that when it comes to my service its probably because of when I go there. I have found its best to go to places like this when it is dead. For example go on a sunday night or right when they open. You can expect tough service at any place during their busiest time of the day. read more

I just got back from here. It seemed really nice and after hearing the waiter list off the specials, it sounded like it was going to be a very refreshing treat from all the food I've had while traveling for business. It was clearly trying to be a fine dining experience and the menu prices reflected that. I wanted the filet mignon ($45) but figured that would be rude at a business dinner. I settled for the $30 crab cakes, a notch below. They were ok I suppose, really really heavy. I know theyre not the best thing for you, but after it felt like I ate two lead weights. It came with a pasta, heavy as well, in some alfredo sauce. Then, the other side was a massive mound of pan fried shredded veggies. It was weird they gave me so much "filler" , it seemed it was because the dish didn't have much to offer besides. I was told the crab cakes were "famous". The veggies should have been steamed or something, to offset the heaviness of the crab cakes. Crispy and not a fried mess. The pasta I didn't really even continue eating. Im not talking trash and I have nothing against this place. It was trying to be gourmet and didn't pull it off. Everything was really "fishy" from not using the freshest fish, I could really smell my coworkers dish. They had the red snapper. So, just beware. They use really heavy sauces, not the freshest fish, and something on your plate will definitely be fried. and btw, you have to use the lame valet. My coworkers just said "just give me the key" because as soon as they walked out, their car was three feet away. read more

We went WITHOUT a reservation at 6 and the hostess asked if we would be done by 730 for a reserved table, normally that would have been ok. But Our waitress was very busy with big tables so we felt rushed for a birthday dinner. We waited too long to order so we took longer than normal. Our food was over salted. Not a huge fan that there is valet for lunch but I'm not docking them for this. This place has some of the best mussels I've had. They're cooked well and the broth is amazing- white wine, butter, cream, garlic, the usual but very well done. You're going to have to dip the bread in the sauce.. Yes it's highly caloric, but it's worth it. We got the truffle mushroom pizza- high on the truffle flavor without being overpowering. The crust is thin and holds up the pizza well. My boyfriend loves the sausage pizza- not my favorite, but I'm just more of a fan of extra saucy pizzas if it's going to have meat on it. Crisp still great. The pomodoro soup is basically very good ripe tomatoes, onions, maybe carrots, and maybe celery pureed with some chicken broth. Very food, very fresh tasting, very simple. We will definitely be back for at least the mussels! read more

Easter brunch was a bit of a disappointment. Last year was so good that we booked again for this Easter but Vinny's came up short. I ordered the Hanger Steak choice on the brunch menu. The entire meal was served cold which was the same complaint of nearly everyone in our party but we were so hungry we ate it. I don't know how this could have happen as we had one of the first reservations of the day at 11:00. Others in our party ordered the $14 French toast entree and what they were served was 1 piece of French toast and 3 pieces of bacon. Even the cappuccino missed the mark. I give Vinny's 3 stars for effort and service but I think we may try somewhere new next year. There are too many choices in Alpharetta to have to settle for a sub par dining experience. Had a wonderful dinner at Vinny's. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Our server, Olivia, was friendly and very attentive. She shared delicious recommendations and was a true joy. The pear arugula salad was just right. The black ink squid spaghetti with added scallops had just the right level of spicy kick. Finishing the meal with the pistachio pound cake and an expresso martini was the right way to tie up the evening. I would recommend you give Vinny's a try. read more

Nice ambiance. Very good service. Went here for a business meeting so decided to keep it simple. Got the chicken parmigano with fettucine alfredo. Huge portions. Chicken was a little overcooked but flavorful. The menu looked very fancy and there are a lot of varieties to try out. Might go again to do that. read more

My husband and I went here for Valentine's date night and it was fantastic! I had the Gnocchi with Veal Meatballs and let me just say it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten. AMAZING! My husband had the ribeye which was also delicious but the potatoes on the side were nothing special. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was wonderful. My only complaint would be that the drinks were overpriced, but if you're wanting to splurge for a special night, this place will not disappoint. read more

This should have been a 5 star as it has for me the last 5 years. I have been coming here several times a year to celebrate events because I found it to have the best steak within a 50 miles radius of my house. I was very disappointed in the filet and have never had a more fatty piece of prime cut steak. My anticipation to dine there after more than a year of not dining there quickly faded when my appetizer (Muscles) arrived with overcooked, tough and tasteless. I ordered beef short ribs with polenta when they brought the plate I was dismayed that any chef would allow the plate to leave the kitchen with a large scoop of dry hard and lumpy polenta. the manager came to the table and offered mashed potatoes as a substitute. My companion ordered Chicken parm with fettuccine alfredo; the chicken and the fettucine were both dry with no moisture to them at all. My first visit here was a business meeting because it was a central location for us to meet. I was a little disappointed with the overall dining experience. The service was great, but the food was just ok. The chicken I ordered was good, but everything else was satisfactory. One person was not happy with the salmon, but another person loved the ravioli. It was definitely a hit and miss. The building was nice and inviting. I'm not sure if I will return. I may return if I am in the area. Who knows, I may love it next time. read more

Growing up in Chicago I recommend always fresh food and I can highly recommend this place Vinny's. If you are in the area please try their appetizer calamari and their pastas are homemade. We made a reservation to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary and ended up very disappointed. When we arrived there was a large party that took up the entire restaurant minus a small section on the side. We ordered octopus and it was tough :( we had loved the meat and cheese plate previously but this one was terrible. I am so sad that they were not upfront about the large party taking the priority that evening. Beware that this may happen to you. We did not order dinner because we felt that this too would not be a priority. The restaurant itself is lovely and romantic that is why we made the reservation in the first place. read more

First, the good news...The decor and atmosphere were excellent. I had the bourbon cocktail that was very yummy with just the right amount of bourbon. It was New Years Eve so the menu was a bit altered. The scallop appetizer I ordered and the shrimp cocktail my husband arrived and they were both good. So far so good... Then the entree... In celebration of the holiday I splurged on the filet/lobster tail. The filet was cooked perfectly but with a serious lack of seasoning and must have been close to the end of the loin as there was a large tendon through about 1/3 of the steak. :(. The real clunker was that red bliss potato cake... sounded heavenly but fell well short of any kind of side on a high end plate. Thick, gummy and without taste or a good sear. It is hard to mess up potatoes but that side managed to do it. For a $200 bill, it was lacking in too may ways to make me return. I stopped here for the first time on a Sunday evening. I was by myself and the hostess was kind and I sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and friendly. The Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp & Scallops were pretty good. The scallops were awesome, and the shrimp was slightly overcooked to the point of being a little too firm. They were accompanied by Parmesan Polenta Cakes, Grilled Eggplant, Zucchini, Red Onion & Red Peppers which were good. This is honestly the only restaurant I've ever been to where I have CRAVED one of their menu items. I know that sounds dramatic, especially since I've lived in New York, Philadelphia and work in Atlanta. I've been going to Vinny's on and off since around 2004. The item I salivate over just thinking about is the chicken scallopine. It melts in your mouth...deliciously moist chicken over spinach ravioli, assorted yummy toppings and this cream sauce that I dream about. I've never had anything here that wasn't awesome, but the chicken scallopine is by far my favorite. Other top favorites also include their gnocchi with veal meatballs and the tortellini. They also have great gourmet pizzas (just a few...not a focus of the menu) that are all superb. One even has truffle oil. Oh yeah, and the veal chop is as big as your head. You really can't go wrong here, especially for a business lunch or a nice dinner. They're a tad on the pricey side, but it's completely and totally worth it. And as far as dessert, I have one word: TIRAMISU! read more

We had not visited Vinny's in some time, after last night I asked WHY. The Service was wonderful even though Nick our server apologized several times for the kitchen being backed up. We made reservations and upon arriving i asked for a table a bit quieter since we had my 91 year old very active mother with us. We were seated at the perfect table. We had the artichoke appetizer to start along with some wonderful wine. Dinner included lasagna, veal tortellini and my mom made a meal out of the crab cake appetizer and broccoli rabe. She said it was the best she has had in a long time, this from a 100% Italian from Boston. We finished off with more wine and biscotti. Absolutely wonderful, we are putting this on our frequent visit list. read more

On a business dinner we all met here to grab a bite. Even though we had a reservation they made us wait at the bar. The bar was cramped but the staff was very friendly. I had the Carolina trout. It was a bit too salty but the pollenta was delicious. The bread was very good. The wine list was a tad overpriced. Overall it was a nice experience. 3 strikes and Vinnys is out for us. Used to be good but they have deteriorated in the last couple of years. First, to the right of the front door is an ornamental flower pot with sand and garbage, maybe they think it's for cigarette butts, but it looks awful and has been like that for at least six months. Twice the specials were awful, todays King Crab Ravioli was tasteless, not a single ingredient in that dish complements any other ingredient. I would have complained but we won't be back. The special before this visit had steak as tough as I've had it, we sent that back. And in between those two visits, rotten mussels. If you decide to go, stick to the main dishes, the talent isn't in house to create decent specials. Desert is still good. They ask if you want bread because they charge $3 for it. I would make it free or not have it. Very awkward for the server to ask, especially when the main dishes are priced so high. Staff and servers have never been a problem. read more

I don't know what happened to this place but it is not the same. Went here on my wife's birthday and the service was abysmal. Managers and wait staff were standing around while we waited for food. The food was poorly prepared and as listless as the wait staff and management. The crab cakes are a disgrace and we did not taste anything worth the money. After having taken friends here before on several occasions I will not be back. Much better options in Alpharetta now. read more
