I've never actually been inside of here, but I've ordered from here a few times in the past few months, and I think it's the best pizza place that currently delivers to my parents' home in the Murray Hill section of Flushing. Good, standard NY-style pies. Deliveries have always been super prompt as well, and I like that they have their own reward system where after a certain number of pies, you can redeem your cards for a free pie. When we first walked into this place several years ago, it was decorated exactly like a neighborhood pizza place and there were one or two congealed pies sitting at the counter and all the right condiments were placed just so on the tables and there was one guy looking bored behind the counter. And we ordered a pie to go. And the guy behind the counter looked kinda surprised we wanted some pizza. Kinda like this place was a front for who knows what shady dealings. He conferred with a guy who came out from the back and they both sorta shrugged their shoulders and made us a pizza. Kinda like they better make some pizza since this was supposed to be a pizza place. And they made us gorgeous, delicious pizza with perfect sauce and perfect cheese and it was a little bit doughy and not too crispy, like we like it. Vinny's gets an extra star for friendliness. I originally called for pick up on my way back home but then changed my mind 15 minutes later and asked to have it delivered instead. The gentleman on the phone was so nice and accommodating, that pleasant experience alone would have made me a repeat customer. The pizza itself (plain) was perfect. The sauce was slightly sweet (exactly the way I like it), the cheese was generously portioned and so gooey, and the dough was thin enough but a little chewy too (again, exactly the way I like it). Great neighborhood spot as mentioned by previous reviews. A bit depressing to eat there but works in a pinch. The guy making the pizzas is friendly in an old school way. Coupon system is pretty good - every time you buy a pie you get one and you collect like 10 and you get a free one. I keep losing mine though! d'oh! My wife grew up around the corner from here and the other night we were both hungry and she suggested we drive back to her old neighborhood to get a pie to go from "Vinny". Being born and raised in Astoria and eating some of the best pizza in NY I was skeptical. After eating the first slice I turned to my wife and said...."this is really good pizza!". The crust is firm but tasty and the sauce is just the right mix of tomatoes and paste. This was the best pizza I have had in a long time and I think we found our new neighborhood spot. :::::UPDATE 2-24-17:::::: well...it is with a heavy heart that i write this update. as of a couple moths ago...vinnys pizza is under new ownership and vinny himself no longer owns it or works there. i have been going to vinnys pizzeria since the early 70's. i have have been there literally hundreds and hundreds of times. this new version is garbage. i wish it wasnt so, but it is. this is truly a sad time for bayside (we all know its bayside and not flushing). an iconic establishment while still there...is nothing like it was. lets get down to it. i dont want to write this review so im going to make it fast. the pizza....all i ordered was the sicilian....small terrible slices. improperly cooked...dry...tasteless. nothing like the glorious thick delicious slices they once were. what a shame. i also ordered a hero....an eggplant parm hero to be exact. what a disgusting nightmare of a sandwich that was. i have made this complaint about heros from other places before...and it pains me to make it here but......1. the eggplant was raw and cold...with a horrible soggy batter on it instead of a proper italian bread crumb coating. 2. it wasnt cooked. i mean that it appears that the eggplant and cheese were thrown in the oven and then slopped onto the hero roll...and then the entire thing was thrown into a styrofoam container. a styrofoam container from a pizza place is a dead giveaway that they dont know how to make a hero. see....the entire sandwich needs to be put in aluminum foil and put in the oven...when its done...you just take it out...close the foil and put it in the bag, it doesnt need a container. makig it this way toasts the bread and makes it crispy, as well as cooks the content of the sandwich. styrofoam cant go in an oven...so if your sandwich is in styrofoam...it never went in the oven at all. so when you finally get it home and open it.....its a dripping, soggy, uncooked, inedible mess. which is exactly what i got. after nearly 50 years of being the standard to which i measure all other pizza places against....i will never set foot in vinnys again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- vinnys is exactly what a neighborhood pizza place should be. excellent pizza amazing heros great dinners. they dont have a whole lot of fancy type pies and crazy toppings. what they do have is pizza...pizza that is delicious and perfect every time you get a slice or order a pie. no to mention the absolute best sicilian anywhere. ive been eating at vinnys for over 30 years....and ive had pizza all over the country. no matter where i am or what kind of pizza im having...i always compare it to vinnys. nowhere makes it like they do. they might not be the best...but ive never had better. read more

We ordered a pie with 3 orders of garlic knots. When we get home there was 2 foils with 6 knots in each one. I call the pizzeria and tell the owner that there were only 2 orders and he said there is only 4 knots per order....LIE!!!! On the menu and on grub hub it clearly states 6 knots per order. Best pizza place in Queens. No kidding. A hidden gem. I've been coming to this place for over 20 years and I have to say it's always been fantastic. You can't go wrong. Their regular pies are great. Their sicilian is FANTASTIC. One thing I wanted to comment on is that you can tell that they use high quality ingredients. The pepperoni doesn't drip oil everywhere and doesn't make you feel sick for ordering it. Their meatballs and sausage are good too. This place can be pricey for pizza but it's totally worth it. Vinny is one of the nicest people I know and it's always pleasant talking with him when I go there. I'm so glad his place has remained a staple in my diet for so long. :) read more

I never would have known this gem existed if my grandmother hadn't pointed it out on a short cut home. She's from Naples and approves so you know it's legit. After reading some reviews I was shocked. The pizza isn't watery at all, it's fresh tomato sauce. Juicy not oily. They are so generous with the cheese and generous personalities all around. I was raised on Vinny's pizza - the taste of it brings me back to my childhood! I was one of 5 kids and we used to order 3 pies at a time! The pizza was always great and thanks to Vinny, it still tastes the same. Good friendly neighborhood pizzeria with excellent Sicilian and plain cheese slices. Pizza wasn't drenched in oil like other pizzerias in the area. No fancy slices or other "exotic" items on their menu. All they had at the counter was plain cheese or Sicilian slices with other traditional items on the menu you would expect at a pizzeria. Place has an old school feel which I love. Slices were delicious and their ingredients seem better than others. I will def be back to try their pastas, heroes and garlic knots! :) read more

Vinny's is as good as it gets. It's been a great neighborhood joint for years. A great sweet sauce from Vinny's own mother. Good cheese and a not too crispy or too thick. Everything you want for a good classic slice. The rest of the menu is pretty good. The baked ziti and eggplant parm are both simple but good. I grew up a block away from Vinny's. I grew up on Vinny's. every weekend my mom would hand me some money and say go get some Vinny's pizza and that would be the best part of my day. I've eaten a lot of pizza in my life, it's my favorite food but Vinny's holds a special place in my heart. I don't know what it is but every time I'm in my old neighborhood, I grab a pie. It's the best pizza I've ever eaten and it feels perfectly authentic. He is just so nice and friendly, always remembers me. Now I'm in a different state. God, what I would give to have a slice of pizza from Vinny's. the regular slices are awesome and I've never eaten a Sicilian slice as good as his. Everything else from his menu is great as well.
