This is my third time departing from LAX, and I've stopped by for a couple of glasses of champagne before takeoff each time. I was surprised to see the same friendly bartender again--Brayen--who remembered me and was just as welcoming, attentive, and easy to chat with as before. The menu has a decent selection of wine at reasonable price and grossly overpriced snacks. Service is always friendly, but not very attentive. To order more or get the check you have to either go up to the bar or repeatedly wave around to get somebody's attention. I recommend ordering everything you might want right away & ask for the check immediately. Even if you order wine, you do not get water with it. If you want water, the only option is buying a bottle. While waiting to board an international flight, I found Vino Volo tucked away in the food court directly after security. The area itself is near the window and fairly quiet. The wooden environment made me feel as if I were inside a wine barrel, except there were many wines to try! At the time, there was only one person working and no greeting, but menus were sprawled on the table, so I mosied on over to browse their selection. After a brief exchange with the staff member and a mental debate between between Reds around the World and Tour of Italy, I was convinced by her descriptions to go with the former. When they arrived, I was surprised to discover that they were a random assortment (or the names did not match). They contained 2oz pours of wines three different lists with a paper labeled Tour of Italy which was fairly misleading. Assuming the paper descriptions were correct: I started with the right glass (Tempranillo, 2022) described as black raspberry and baking spice, specifically finding it a tad sweet but having just the right texture. The middle glass (Primitivo, 2023) tasted dark with hints of cherry and also sported some bits. Cherry and thyme, a good description, but I didn't enjoy how dark it was. The left glass (Frappato, 2021) was a good medium "in-between" the other two. While bold and strong, the strawberry and moss descriptions were interesting. The lady that served me seemed fairly knowledgeable. While not a wine connoisseur myself, I enjoyed the wine flight before my flight. If you ever have an hour to pass, consider trying some wine at Vino Volo! read more

Sigh oh LAX. It does not taste like a $20 sparkling wine. It IS LA and an airport. Kawa was a very nice bartender and I enjoyed my brief chat with him. They have a nice selection of wines. The only place in Tom Bradley that I'll eat! While others are stuffing their faces pre flight with a bunch of garbage, I feel this is your best choice for a healthy bite and yummy wine flight. I always select a red flight, most recently the Aussie - which was delish. I have a fav seat, it's the two barstools to the left of a small wall at the counter with charging capabilities underneath. Service is always friendly and I always leave satisfied with a nice little buzz! We had to ask if we could sit at an open table and were told the 4-tops are seating for three or more, not two. Those four tables remained EMPTY while we were here. We were offered the counter area, which was the side-work portion of the bar. There was ZERO selling or interaction. No one checked on us after we received the flight and food. What a difference 60 steps make! 60 steps ago, I was ignored, past by, neglected, rejected and all around "turned out" at the Border Grill in the Tom Bradley terminal at LAX. A snub like I haven't had since I was an royal imp trouble maker in my teens. So, I let Vino Volo sooth my ruffled feathers; and they were successful. They were as attentive as the Border Grill wasn't! Flights of Reds, Whites and Rose's were hurried to my group as we waited for our flight to Bora Bora. Each glass was labeled with region, pairing and a synopsis on that particular wine. These aficionados were entertaining and expert in their craft. The price is high like most food options in US airports. However. I enjoyed my light meal and drinks there, which is more than I can say for 90% of the meals I've had in US airports. The pizzas are small, but tasty. The crust is thin, but tasted homemade. I especially enjoyed the fresh greens on top of mine. The wine flight was great. I had three white wines that focused on minerality. Each wine was properly labeled by the glass with a brief description. We were able to kill time and enjoy a light lunch. Service was good and we didn't have too long to be seated or for the food to come out. If you keep your expectations focused on airport prices and experiences, you'll be pleased as a captive audience. What do you do during a 3.5 hour layover at LAX? Drink wine. LOTS AND LOTS of wine. I was stuck due to a delayed flight and was in search of somewhere good to eat. Looking at Yelp, the majority of restaurants in the airport had terrible ratings. The less than 3 star ratings were not what I wanted prior to a five hour flight, so I made the trek to the International Terminal. I sat and there were tons of electric outlets along the wall. I peeked at the menu and ordered a pizza. It was more like a flatbread. It was small but very tasty! Now to the wines, I had a flight and it was pretty good. But the waiter recommended a wine called Troublemaker. He swore by it so I caved and tried it and it was amazing! It was so tasty and smooth like salty caramel. I'm dreaming of this wine. This was the best place to enjoy a delay in LAX. The wine was tasty and the space was relaxing and wonderful (words uncommonly used to describe an airport). read more
