I reluctantly online ordered for a pair of my very expensive glasses to have new lenses put in. After never receiving a shipping label from them I had to call them for it. I received the label but decided to cancel the order. I rather do business with a company that emails the customer back right away when something isn't right. I've called countless times and have emailed as well and asked for a refund through PayPal. Still waiting... I'd really like my money back since I won't be using their service to replace my lenses after all. This place seems shady. They don't have a physical store anymore apparently. I purchased the Cecile frame. When it arrived it stated Made in China, designed in NYC. My previous purchase of the Ciello frames from here has Made in Italy on the frame and is great quality. I put up a Cecile review on their site which they responded to saying this frame was part of their Luxury Italian Collection. They then said I must have received a demo by mistake in a subsequent email. They did an exchange of the Cecile frame. I get the new frames back and it's the same exact quality just without the Made in China sticker. When I sent them a message this time, they said the Cecile is NOT made in Italy with Italian acetate. So they basically operate under unethical business practices. They are willing to refund this frame. But it puts me in a bind since I'm traveling and need to get this prescription filled to get them back before I leave. If they had been honest in the first place, I wouldn't have wasted my time going back and forth with the replacement. I would not spend top dollar for a frame made in China that's why I only shop at certain stores. I need frames to be used for medical device purposes not strictly fashion. I don't need a frame that will bend chip fade when spending more than average for them. Just be careful if you shop here. They are not honest about their products. You maybe paying higher prices for junk. read more

I have been coming here for two years and every time they knock it out the park. As an avid glasses wearer and someone picky as hell every time I come in they are so patient with me as I try on various styles and ask for their opinions (and instead of the usually yes ma'aming you get at other places). Here they will tell you if the frames are just not the ones for you which I beyond appreciate. Honestly, now when I come in they know me and have suggestions for what would fit my face and my taste (and also my budget). Anytime I have ordered sunglasses or prescription glasses I get them ahead of schedule and they take the time to make sure they are adjusted just right. They are super kind, courteous, and also helpful. Also heck yes to supporting a small business instead of big corporation. There I was... a week before my big vacation looking for new prescription sunglasses for my trip. Stumbled across this fantastic Nolita boutique on the suggestion of a friend and found a super stylish pair that fit perfectly. The quality was great and I was really happy. But that's not where the story ends. Glasses take a couple days to get cut properly, right? And I thought I had enough time before I left which it turns out, I didn't. I called to see if they could rush them and explained my situation. One of the staff members, Timothy, got on the phone and rushed the order. Not only that, he then personally drove them across a borough because the glasses wouldn't have reached me in time if shipped. I mean... who does that?! Talk about going above and beyond. This guy deserves a serious commendation, promotion, or at the very least a plaque on the wall. A local business who cares about it locals so much they go out of the way to make them happy. I happily stumbled across Vint & York's Instagram account around November 2019. After spending hours on both their Instagram account and their designated website I was thrilled to find a location in the heart of Nolita (that's NYC; Incase you're not familiar). From the moment I entered the store I was greeted by Eli; he allowed me to browse their collection and said he was available Incase I found something I liked and or needed any help. I did have a style in mind and he helped me find all styles that closely resembled it (Can you say options!). Towards the end of my consultation I decided on a style I was happy with. Eli suggested I try their HD lenses. He explained that the lenses are customized to the individual so that they offer sharper vision and better peripheral vision (to be honest I thought it was BS). Eli believes in the quality of these lenses that he said I can try them out for a couple of weeks (someone who's confident in their product that's a plus in my book) so I added the HD lenses. My order was placed in store end of November and I received an email from the company a week later that it was ready! (Holy turnaround time Batman!) When I picked up my glasses I couldn't believe I payed less the $350 for my high index, HD, stylish glasses. The price point is insane! In the past I've spent literally $600-$800 on well high end brand name glasses (which were stolen). So to have the same quality for half the price is a prayer answered! Lastly the HD lenses are incredible!!!I'm sorry Eli I didn't believe they would make a difference; however I WAS WRONG!!! I've been wearing my Vint & York glasses for about a month now and when I compared my old lenses (same prescription)... talk about a distorted picture I kept trying to tilt my head forward or back in order to get the picture while watching TV. This is a long review I know.. just FYI I've been wearing glasses since 14 years old and now I'm soon to be 31 And Vint & York is the first company who has truly taken the time to assure that I love my glasses and also educated me on what is means to have quality. I can't figure out why or how this place has any one star reviews. I have both ordered from them online and picked up glasses in store and had nothing short of FANTASTIC experiences. I got vision correction surgery and therefore have 20/20 vision, but I get DEBILITATING migraines from bluelight now (which I lowkey think is a side effect of the PRK surgery but that hasn't been proven and I digress). I have tried Warby Parker, EyeBuyDirect, and countless other brands desperately seeking relief and NONE have worked. Then I found Vint & York ORDERING ONLINE: I literally got my frame within four days of ordering. Got the blue Myrtles and LOVED them. ORDERING VIA PHONE & IN STORE PICK UP: Ordered them Monday, they were ready by Tuesday AM. THAT FAST. The salesman Olivier was extremely friendly and had no issue with me trying on solidly 15-20 pairs of frames, even though he would have to sanitize and clean them after each wear. He had Tupac playing which definitely set an awesome vibe, and shared personal tidbits about his life. I personally enjoy having a personal report with those with whom I do business, and definitely felt that today. Oli is just a one man shop - I believe it is only him and one other person who man two locations (one downtown Manhattan and another on Long Island) yet they do a fantastic job of moving quickly to fulfill orders. 10/10 would recommend to anyone. read more

I had a terrible experience with Eli. He was aggressive and rude. I had no experience with progressive lenses so had more than a few questions. I can only surmise Eli took this as a throw down on pricing because he got unbelievably aggressive. The woman who worked there tried to calm this cretin to no avail. "Eli, please calm down" I wanted the frames so I paid, intending to go elsewhere for lenses. I asked for my purchased glasses and he tried to pawn off the demo pair off the floor. When i asked for a fresh pair he told me to "get the fuck out of his store I love my frames but had the lens cut elsewhere. Corporate did not handle my complaints well either. While they offer top of the line Zeiss lens, I've not ordered my progressive lens with them....it's complex and have found best in person. Eli really helped me out with getting the right lenses in my already existing frame collection (6 pairs) and was very flexible about breaking up the payment for this high ticket endeavour. Additionally he helped me with the the base curve that was giving me issues with one of the pairs. I think he went above and beyond when he crafted my lenses keeping in mind the issues I have with my eyelashes brushing the lenses due to the small bridge and high prescription combination I deal with. The digital lenses are definitely the way to go. The world literally looks like and HD TV through them. Definitely coming back for every pair of lens replacement I need. read more

Interesting to see a pattern of bad customer service throughout the reviews. Came in here on Presidents' Day and the guy working the shop was BEYOND cold and unwelcoming. A coworker had recommended their frames so I wanted to come in person and try some, but this dude's attitude was so off putting, I literally must have spent around 30 seconds in the store before leaving. He did let out a condescending "bye" as I walked out. Like others have said, stick to Warby..or Dita/Oliver's if you have the cash. He made my skin crawl in the short time I was there. I can't imagine the process of getting selecting frames, lenses and then getting them fitted with Vint and York. My first order ever was for prescription sunnies. I got in a reasonable amount of time. I wore for a week and I noticed my vision wasn't as crisp as my normal glasses. I reached out to V&Y via email and they suggested I send them back. They sent a label. I did that. I heard nothing. A week and a couple days and I try to the chat. I asked to follow up via email. Heard nothing back. So I email them and nothing so I ended up calling. The person didn't know what the status was. She said the optician didn't leave any notes but they were being worked and I'd get a tracking number once they ship. Well two days later I got a delivery left on my door. Never got any notification from V &Y that they shipped. Well the prescription is better than the original one but still not as good as my normal glasses. I reached out to V&Y about this issue and how nothing was explained about what they found etc. They offered no consolation for the issue since I had 2 weeks with no sunnies. Also if I want to get the prescription redone locally I basically would have to pay an optician for a brand new set of lenses. So I don't think V&Y is good at strong prescriptions, not sure why they didn't communicate what they found just sent the new frames and lens and also the old frames. Lately the communication breakdown once I had a problem was disappointing. So I wouldn't order prescription glasses from them again. read more

I originally purchased a pair of frames on line. When they arrived in the mail, I could immediately tell they were going to be too big for my face (I have an abnormally small face for an adult and I typically have to purchase children's glasses because adult sized glasses don't usually fit my slender face). No big deal, I could run them over to the Elizabeth St. street store (four blocks from my work) and drop them off for a full refund. Fast forward a few days and I finally found the time to pop into the Elizabeth St. store to get my refund. The sales clerk (Eli) was helping another customer, so I started to look around and randomly tried on a few different frame styles. To my surprise, there was a bunch of frames that actually fit my face!! I was thrilled. Would the long lost search for adult sized frames be found right here on Elizabeth Street???? So, Eli quickly finished with his customer and I was next. I started to mention to Eli that I really liked that all the glasses were out of cases to allow customers to try on pairs w/o a sales clerk, which is virtually non-existent these days, at least in the glasses industry, where the frames always seem to be under lock and key, so the idea of "browsing" for a pair of frames just doesn't happen these days. Eli mentioned that because the frames at Vint & York are MUCH less expensive than the high end brand of frames (Gucci, D&G, Etc. etc.) V&Y could afford to have them out of cases, which I completely appreciated. Eli then started to explain how V&Y was able to make their frames so much less expensive than the designer brands but they look JUST as stylish. They each have their own personality and I really liked that.... OK, I was sold. I decided to exchange the too large frames I bought online and purchase a really cute pair of V&Y's instead. I told Eli I was on a budget and he didn't pressure me into buying the most expensive lenses. He was perfectly happy that I didn't want to spend $700 on a pair of glasses and I wound up spending less than $300 on a beautiful pair of frames, AMAZING digital lenses that are FAR superior to my old lenses, it's literally like looking through a new set of eyes. Part of the $300 also got me thin lenses and like an unlimited supply of Eye Glass cleaner. Eli Said I could come back anytime and get my bottle of cleaner filled up for free. My experience with V&Y was really good. I had been searching for frames for at least six months and found that each store I went into virtually had the same exact pool of frames to choose from. V&Y had different frames than the other stores for 1/8th of the price of designer frames. Eli then called me 5 business days later and my glasses were ready to pick up. The BEST and EASIEST purchase of glasses that I have ever made. Not only Great prices and great styles at V&Y but Eli was super friendly, knowledgeable but not the typical pushy salesman. I WILL purchase another pair of glasses from these guys and have already recommended them to some of my other friends. read more

This place is MAGICAL & UNIQUE my perfect cup of tea! I was looking for a personal style statement glasses that I could wear to work and switch to night events without having to worry about changing into contact lenses. When I entered Vint & York store, it literally took me 10 seconds to find the RITZY Rosé Noir and fall in love with it, the size was perfect, the color (in real life is amazing-pictures don't do justice to this piece of glasses jewel) and the upgrade technology advance in lenses sold me out...then the one and only one Eli saw me looking at the RITZY Cranberry Splash with a little doubt and encouraged me to try them on... voilà I so love them...long story short I walked out with 2 pair of luxury eyeglasses (that I love) for a reasonable price, and top notch customer service, easy shipping (oh did I mentioned I travel from DC to NYC just to see this guy and his marvelous creations) I had to fix the lenses in one of the pair and sent back, but let me tell you this was taking care off in no time! When I walked in the store, I was immediately greeted by Dimitri who walked me through the Vint & York brand and worked with me towards finding the perfect pair of glasses. The glasses were priced at 109$ including lenses!! The quality of the glasses also blew my mind. You can tell that the company cares about the design of their product, from the design of the store all the way to the actual eyeglass case. The gentleman in the shop let us look around without being pushy. Something unusual from a small shop. When the BF found a pair he really liked we were amazed to learn that his glasses would be ready in 10 minutes! I found a pair of sunglasses I really liked and was estimated 3 days to add prescription lenses. Three days later I called to find out if my glasses would be ready. The gentleman informed me that he did not think the glasses would be ready by end of day but he would try his best, I expressed I was going away the next day and was really hoping to have them. Later that afternoon he went to the lab in Midtown, picked up the lenses and personally delivered the glasses to me in Brooklyn. This was extremely kind and greatly appreciated! First of all, the selection and prices at this place are amazing. I found a beautiful pair of 50s style Cat's Eye frames by using their online try-on simulation, for an incredibly cheap price (I think it came to something like $122). Then, the glasses were HAND-DELIVERED TO ME at work, because the associate noticed that I worked relatively close to their boutique in Soho! AMAZING! Thirdly, I felt some dizziness in the first week of having them. The same associate bent over backwards to address the situation and make sure the dizziness went away, meeting with me several times. Worst customer service in Soho plus the frames are flimsy. 1st, as I was trying on frames, one of the salesmen asked me which ones I liked - I showed him two and he said "oh no those wash you out." 2nd, I went to buy frames and the other sales guy tried to up sell me on lenses for an extra $100, I said, "no thanks, I usually wear my contacts, so I don't need that." He proceeded to tell me that I needed to wear my glasses more. Thanks, but you're not my eye doctor and I'm not buying your bullshit lenses (he also told me I'd see better in my or peripheral vision with these magic lenses). Shouldn't have bought them but thought they were cute and well priced. Anyway, I ordered these glasses and was told they'd be ready in a week, I called to check and was met by chaos as they looked for the glasses and gents at sounded annoyed. I was told they weren't ready and would be ready the next day. So, I stopped in the store the next day and was told they're not ready but would be by about 5:30, so I asked "what time do you close" - and was told "7 but we pack up at 645" so what does THAT mean? It certainly isn't a friendly comment or give me any confidence that I could actually come in later and get my frames. I came in the day after and got the frames. They're cute but flimsy AF. I'm glad I didn't get any idiotic "upgrades" but I won't be buying glasses here again. Moral of this review - not worth the attitude, hassle or quality. Tim and Cammie were amazing! I bought the Garbos a while ago and naturally they had some wear and tear. I asked if there was something that could be done (thinking I could send them to the factory to get fixed) and without hesitation they swapped the old pari for some brand new ones!
