Buyer beware. I purchased a set of 3 piece radars 17x7s from Bruce on January 10th and was told to expect an 8 week turnaround. However I received them May 19th after getting the run a round, I couldn't believe what showed up. They were covered in greasy fingerprints, not a deal breaker. The chrome finish had many flaws and divets, the front wheels had 2 valve stem holes in the inner and outer barrels with no stems or plugs for either, the back wheels had no stem holes at all and they sent 17x6s for the front.Took 2 days of running around to fix this issue. Finally got tires put on to only find that they leak everywhere ( see pictures) For $7k I would recommend finding another vendor. On a side note, what I had to do since it took so long to get the wheels I disputed the transaction after 60 days and repayed him bc he said they needed more time due to moving. I received the wheels 1 week prior to the next 60 day dispute window. After all the run a round and not being happy with what I ordered I told Bruce I need to return the wheels, he said just hang on to them and he will send me replacements. By this time I'm on to his bs and this is a stall tactic for my dispute time to run out and considering what I went through and finally got I disputed the transaction again. Both disputes they lied and said I received what I ordered but the first dispute was bc I haven't received anything. Lucky for me I got free garage art, be careful y'all. I purchased from them back in December: two refurbished control arms and a front beam for a VW Bay Window. The control arms arrived in the condition described on the website (refurbished). The front beam, however, was clearly used--and worst of all, it was rusting from the inside. The product page for the beam stated that it was manufactured to original specs. The photos showed a brand-new beam, and nowhere on the page did it say it was used, refurbished, or that I should expect damage. I received the beam on a Friday night and emailed them Sunday night to say it was damaged and that I needed to return it. Aside from AI-generated email responses and an AI phone answering system, I wasn't able to talk to anyone for about a month. During that time, the company changed the product description online to support their claim that what I ordered was a used beam and that they would not accept a return. They even tried to lie to PayPal by claiming I was okay with the item at first and that I didn't request a refund until weeks after receiving it. I proved that wasn't true with my email records. In the end, PayPal had to step in and review the case. They contacted the vendor, and the vendor then agreed to a full refund. I returned the beam within a few days. They received it, but never communicated that to PayPal. PayPal ultimately resolved the case in my favor because it was clear I was dealing with a dishonest company that doesn't give a cr*p about its customers. This is clear--just look at their reviews from other customers describing the same issues. I should've done my due diligence and looked for reviews before purchasing. Lesson learned. read more

Let me start by saying, I don't usually write reviews. I wasn't going to write this review, but I wouldn't want my friends or family wasting time and money like I did. I got a refund, I'm out the cost of mounting, balancing and removing my tires again, that's on me. All in all everything is good in the end. The customer service woman was helpful. This is a review about custom wheels and spring plates I ordered, so in other ways this company may be fine. I hope this company can turn itself around. My first order with Bruce was for adjustable spring plates. When I got them they looked like they were pulled out a parts bin. Covered in grease and scratches. When I mentioned the condition his reply was, "yeah, I say I have a messy shop". Ok dude ‍ After what was clear a sign that this company is no good, I regretfully ordered a set of stock widened wheels with holes drilled in them. This place made my $1200 wheels crooked (found out as tire was being balanced). Another wheel didn't hold air. Ok, So 3 wheels were stock and they were decent, the 2 that he had to modify were both unusable. I contact him and tell him the issue, he says "no problem I already have rears made already I'll send them to you when they're out of powder coat". Ok. Cool.... I ask for updates with no reply, so I wait and ask again. Nothing.... I let him know I'm ready to take him to court, then I immediately I get a response from the customer service woman. Few weeks later (after getting sent a fake tracking number the week before) I'm relieved for all of 5 minutes before I realize they're not the size I ordered. Seriously dude? This seems like a bad joke. Another month passes. I still don't have the right sized (or straight) wheels. But they have my money so they won't actually try to get it resolved and done. I realized that I wouldn't use these wheels from this company anyway so I demanded my refund, and continued to call and text and instagram message and Facebook message until I finally got it. My final straw was sent a fake tracking number for the 2nd time. Any company willing to do something as shady as that TWICE to the same customer shouldn't be in business. Vintage vdubs will take your money and send you a sub par (at best, he didn't even wipe down the spring plates) part. At this point any other company would be glad to make it right so his page isn't filled with 1 star reviews.. Not this place lol. Once he has your $ you're out of luck unless you really push the customer service #. Ultimately I took stock wheels to a place and got them widened (correctly) and powder coated for 1/3rd of his price and they're actually safe. Save yourself the time, money, stress and frustration this company will cause you. Good luck to anyone who found this review a little too late like me. I'll post pics because I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to sell them without fixing them Bruce, I don't know if you care about customers enough to read your reviews, but I appreciate the refund. Your business needs a LOT of work. Don't take this personally, but this review is a warning to any potential customers. There are small companies out there with growing pains as you claim to be, but that's not Vintage Vdubs. Ask your friends dude, they're doing it right. Companies that want to grow don't send out trashed parts and disregard their customers. The Volkswagen community is filled with amazing companies from what I've seen so far. Don't buy anything from Bruce or this company. The parts they sell don't work especially the Wildwood disk brakes w/e-break. The adapter they use for the disk breaks are dangerous and terrible design. Over priced and Wildwood said the calipers were made for Miata club cars that were only made in limited run and no longer in production specifically for this club. This review is a way over due tip of the hat to Bruce Endsley at Vintage V-Dubs. I own a '74 Bay window bus that received a full lowering suspension back in late 2015. Before purchasing with Bruce I saw that his feedback in the Samba community was below par but after speaking with him at the shop and having him walk me through what he was going to do, I decided to go through him. The build only took around 5 weeks to complete and surprisingly because all my parts were powder coated and the hardware were all gold zinc coated. I remember calling wagenswest and they quoted me around a 3 month lead time on everything. Glad I made the decision to go with Bruce as I needed help with the assembly and installation and he actually came over to my house and personally assisted with the install. I have been a customer of Vintage V-Dubs for 3 years. Over the years I have purchased: 1. ) IRS Conversion Kit for my 64 VW bus. Having never done this before, I must have driven Bruce nuts will all the phone calls and questions. He never once seemed upset or irritated, but helped me step by step. 2. ) Narrowed Beam and tie rods for my 64 VW Bus. Parts arrived and were great. High quality, and again, Bruce was a saint fielding all of my dumb questions. 3. ) Full lowered suspension for my son's 67 VW Bug. 4. ) Disc brake conversion for a 71 Super Beetle (front and back). 5.) BRM wheels During each purchase, Bruce was happy to provide his expert advice and guidance on what I should order. He happily answered ALL my questions during, and after the purchase. I originally placed the order December 1, 2015 for a Front Universal Disc Break Kit, Rear Universal Disc Break Kit, Dual Master Cylinder, Ultimate Slam Running Gear Kit and EMPI Wheels, and sent a check for the full amount December 2, 2015. I was told it would take 6 to 8 weeks to complete the build due to prior commitments. On January 26, 2016 I received an email from Audrey stating the order was ready to be delivered that week, which it wasn't. Then on February 26th I received another email stating the order would be dropped off that week, again it wasn't. Then on March 11th I received yet another email stating it would be dropped off Monday the 14th, and again it wasn't. On Monday March 14th I stopped by and spoke to Bruce, the owner, who told me he would be delivering the complete order on Tuesday the 15th, and I said I'd tell Rusty to expect it sometime that week just to give you a little more time. I talked to Rusty on Friday the 18th and he told me nothing had been delivered other than the transaxle. To date I've been told four times the parts were going to be delivered, and the only thing Rusty has received is the transaxle, which by the way did not come with the boot clamps. I don't mind if it's taking longer than expected, but being told 4 times it was going to be delivered and it hasn't is unelectable. Tuesday Rusty picked everything with the exception of the EMIP Wheels which you didn't have. An email was sent to you Tuesday requesting the status of all parts, and I haven't received a reply. Again on Wednesday yet another email was sent requesting the status of the Wheels and yet again, no response. I can only hope that the build performs better than your communication but won't know until June. read more

This place is a total rip-off! Do not do business with them. I orderd a lowering kit for a Bus a year ago now. I only received half the parts, never received the main front axle beam. When I contacted them, all I got was a bunch of excuses. They should write a book of excuses they would be much better at it then running their business. Now they won't answer their phone, or return calls, and I am out several thousand dollars. Next step will have to be small claims. I did get the needed parts from a different supplier. On 12/07/2016 I ordered Vanagon rear disc brakes from this Vendor (Vintage Vdubs) and had not received them. I had called texted and emailed Vintage Vdubs to try and find out if and/or when they'd ship and did not receive a response. On 12/19/2016 I posted a complaint with PayPal after which Vintage Vdubs sent the parts. After receipt of the rear disc brake kit my mechanic and I determined that installation of the kit was not possible because the caliper frame does not fit between the rotor and the adaptor. I began emailing Vintage Vdubs with our concern on January 10 and received a couple of emails back requesting pictures which I sent 3 times. The last communication from Vintage Vdubs was on January 20th, in which they said they'd have the pic's looked over. On January 26 I emailed Vintage Vdubs the following: "... 1 The caliper bracket will not work given its lack of proper offset. See attached picture of an example of an offset. Attempting to install it in its current configuration would result in the caliper and pads being in a different plane than the brake rotor. 2 Switching from Drum to Disc Brakes often requires changing the volume and pressure brake fluid supply. This has not been addressed with your kit. 3 It is not possible to get 6 rotations on the lug nuts when attaching the wheel to the disc brake assembly. Also, lug bolts threads are not clean and will require "re-machining" ..." I sent the brake kit back to Vintage Vdubs so they could verify and or correct the issue with their kit and have not received a response from them. I emailed Vintage Vdubs on 2/24, 3/14, and 3/30. They've yet to respond. I've spent almost $1,000 with these guys with nothing but heartache and pain to show. I'd advise anyone looking at buying from Vintage V-Dubs to go somewhere else. read more

I am a 64-year man who has been into hot rods and VW's all my life. I have ordered countless parts by internet. There have been a few minor issues that were corrected by a phone call. But nothing beats my experience I had with Vintage V-dubs. I wanted to change some suspension and brake parts on my 64 dbl cab. After speaking with hBruce the owner who sounded very straight up and knowledgeable I ordered about $5500.00dollars worth the parts. I was told they would arrive in one order in about 2 to 3 weeks. After 5 weeks and 3 different orders showed up I still did not have all of the correct parts for my truck. The parts I did get were cut incorrectly and not usable. That is when the real nightmare started. I could never reach Bruce again nor after repeated messages did he ever try to call me back. He took my money and ran. He is a complete rip off who really does not care about his customers accept to get a hold of their money. Please do not send your hard earned money to this guy and become one of his next victims. In November 2016, I decided to upgrade my 67 split window bus with a new front suspension, trans. and brakes. I checked websites and found Bruce at Vintage V-Dub. I read several of the reviews and felt like they were from people who had expectations that weren't realistic and complained. I went to Vintage V-Dub and met Bruce. I told him what I wanted to do and he laid out what I would need and explained how to do the install. Bruce made me feel confident in doing the install and even offered me tools and if needed jack stands. Bruce had my order done in just over three weeks. I feel that was outstanding since I know I'm not his only customer. When you look at other websites the wait is much longer. When I picked up my parts, Bruce gave me his phone number and said I could call him anytime I needed help. Turns out I called him a lot and he always came through with explaining what I needed to do. My buddy and I completed the work in a week. Bruce told me to bring my bus to him and he would inspect my work and do any fine tuning. He reworked my poor job and gave me back a great running bus. This is why I went to Vintage V-Dub, because in meeting Bruce he seemed like a good guy and he turned out to be just that, a good guy who will do his best to make you a happy customer. I've gone back to Bruce several more times to do other upgrades and have been happy with all my parts and Bruce's service. On one of those upgrades a part broke, no fault of Bruce's. I was 175 miles from his shop at midnight. Bruce drove out to Blythe, CA that night and helped me repair the part in a rest area lot. By 3:30 AM, I was back on the road. I ordered/Paid for a VW Bus Tow bar from Vintage VW (two weeks before I needed it) to have it shipped to the shop in SoCal (only 1-1/2 hours from their shop) where I was having my Bus worked on and told them I needed it on a certain date to bring my bus back home to NorCal, they said it would be there ahead of schedule. I called a few days before I was going down to SoCal and they emailed me shipping USPS tag that I was not able to track, so I called their shop and said I could pick it up that I needed desperately. ....but I just received voice mail and no call back. I usually don't do this but I have to. In my efforts to save a little money I decided to go with this company to get the whole brake set up. Unbeknownst to me I would be dealing with a headache, Bruce said that it would be a week when he shipped out. Within that week I told him to send me all four disk and wilwood set up as I had only ordered the front. 3 weeks passed and I did not hear anything nor received an email from them. I reached out to Bruce via text (which he always answered prior to this) and simply told him to refund my money and not send the stuff out. It was at this moment that I knew what I would be dealing with as an hour later I got a text with tracking info. Two of them were legit and two of them have no tracking info. He sent the first package and it was 1/4 of my order, no packing list and scratched up items. Then today another package arrives with the wrong colored calipers, a bunch of electric taped parts and missing parts, no packing list. It was shipped in a flat rate box wrapped in bubble usps bags. So yes I'm worried about the structural integrity of my parts and the damaged they must have received. The parts are dirty and seem used, I have been going back and forth with some number because they won't pick up My phone calls nor would Bruce answer my texts. I simply said, I will ship the parts back at my cost and I just want the money back. I took a picture of every part I received as I don't want them to think I'm trying to trick them. I am waiting for them to come up with a decision to "make things right" to which I said just refund my money and we will be ok. They have not said anything yet, to say I am upset is an understatement. I just want my money back I will send the parts back we shake hands and call it a day. But that's not going to happen, I wouldn't tell you to stay away because to each his own but BUYER BEWARE. To save 200$ for a head ache isn't work it, there are better quality, better services and better people out there. They claim that the brake set up is custom but in all reality it is not, it is putting parts together and sending them out. I've known Bruce for about 3 years. I found him here in San Diego and was able to go to his shop to see my options on getting my 64 bus lowered and able to stop. He has been honest and super helpful. The first gearbox I purchased from him was great, except for the axle leaked. Yup, it took a month and a few gasket replacements, partly due to my schedule and partly due to his. Not once did he ever try to shy away from the problem. I have bought another gearbox, rims, beam and a few disk brake kits. All spot on. I'll recommend this guy all day. read more

Poorly made parts. Frankly, they are dangerous. Not thick enough metal. uses the wrong size of tubing for the beam. Literally the whole suspension that I got had to be redone. Then when I tried to get it made right, they stopped answering the phone. Don't order from this place. read more

Do not buy from this company. Purchased and paid for accessories with credit card over a year ago and never received. I was told the item was delayed and company kept stringing me along until after the time I could get a refund from my credit card company. I bought a beam from this guy last year and have had nothing but problems with it. When I tried to install it, i had to grind out one of the holes because it didn't fit. My son was driving the bus and one of the trailing arms fell off and now I am trying to change my spindles and the brake rotors are stuck on the spindles because they didn't use the correct bearing. Good luck trying to get them to call you back, I have tried a number of times. The only reason I got the beam is because I had to go out and pick it up from their shop. This place has a horrible reputation within the VW community, go to Wagenswest and get a real beam or other components and don't waste your money with this place. read more
