Ordered pho to-go. Was delicious. Serving size was a big especially for takeaway. Cleanest broth I had tasted in a while. Meats were good and there was a good amount of it too. Lots of toppings. Everything tasted fresh. Price was average, if not a little on the higher side for the city ($19ish after tax) but it was worth the price. Solid bowl of pho. Would come again if in the area.

It was our first time trying to Vietnamese spot downtown. I was pleasantly surprised by their wide variety of options. We got: Their banh hoi and skewers: 4/5 really good. Great if you want spring rolls but don't want to make all the components at home. Brown sugar boba: 5/5 perfect sweetness and tapioca tasted great! The service was fast and they were very nice. The spot is small but there's additional seating upstairs.

The best meals here. Loved it so much on the first night, had to come back again! Downstairs, it looks like there's such limited seating but upstairs is amazingly spacious and clean. The bathroom is also very clean. The food. Legit delicious. Everything we ordered. Pho, chicken friend rice, Bun rice vermicelli salad

Amazing Delicious Dinner We are in town visiting from Los Angeles. This place is legit with authentic flavors. Our group of 4 arrived and tried to sit in the main dining area but didn't realize there was a 2nd floor with spacious area for seating. We went to the counter to order from a sweet young lady that took our order. We settled on the short rib pho, vermicelli bowl, chicken fried rice, wonton noodle soup & pan fried dumplings. Every dish was so tasty and the service was amazing. We will be back to try some of the other dishes.

I was greeted by a very nice lady at the front desk that also took my order. The upstairs is super cute and clean. The pho was delicious! I will be back.

Purely a review on the boba. With tea in the name I figured I had to visit on my boba tour. They probably lean more on powdered drinks because the tea wasn't present and their menu has very common powder flavors. However, the boba was pretty solid. Jasmine Milk Tea w/ Boba - boba was flavorful, so bonus props there because they marinated it well. Texture wise, perhaps a bit squishy but not sufferable, there was still a fair chew. Drink was below average though. No tea flavor at all. Very milky, as if I was drinking boba milk.

If you're in the mood for a casual get together with friends or just looking for a spot to get some work done, Vintea is a great little neighborhood spot! I stopped by both on a weekend and weekday for lunch and it was fairly crowded both times. The staff was very professional and friendly, and the menu had an overwhelming number of great-looking options. It was a little on the pricey side but still among more affordable options for the area. Between both visits, we opted for the chicken pho, wonton soup, fresh spring rolls with shrimp, crispy egg rolls, and traditional Vietnamese iced coffee. The orders came out fairly quickly and I was impressed by the freshness and quality! The egg rolls were piping hot and super crispy, and the pho broth had an excellent depth of flavor. The chicken was super tender and the portion of noodles and meat was generous. The wonton soup was pretty similar in flavor and als delicious, and I appreciated that multiple sizes were available. I really enjoyed the iced coffee as well- it was not too sweet at all and had a nice robust coffee flavor. I will definitely stop by again in the future, and am looking forward to trying more of the menu! Highly recommend paying a visit if you're in the area.

I walked by this restaurant and had to do a double take to realize it was a Vietnamese Restaurant. The front facade is underwhelming with emphasis on bubble tea more than a restaurant but don't let that dissuade you from going inside because the food is authentic, fresh and delicious. The true litmus test of authenticity is the Phở broth and boy oh boy did this place pass with flying colors and then some. I walked up to the counter and was greeted by a sweet lady as in extremely soft spoken with a gentle kind demeanor. After placing my order with her in Vietnamese, she spoke to me in Vietnamese and I learned that it's a family run business. They do everything themselves from buying local sourced produce and supplies to all the prep and cooking. The place has a modern Point of Sales (POS) system that accepts pretty much every payment method there is under the sun including Apple Pay and once you place your order, you get a pager. The first floor where orders are taken has a small seating area. There's also a larger dining area upstairs. Both are clean and accommodating. I ordered both takeout and dine-in and the service was great. I got two banh mi sandwiches to-go and Phở Tái Bò Viên (Beef Phở with Rare Beef and Beef Meatballs) with Gỏi Cuốn Tôm (Shrimp Summer Rolls). The phở came with the traditional garnishments and broth was superlative! I'm still thinking about the broth as I write this review. The summer rolls were fresh and massive. I left happily satiated after taking two SoulCycles classes earlier. I definitely recommend this place which is a hidden gem. Trust me on this because I've eaten Vietnamese food practically in every state in the U.S. and Paris France.

[VinTea] A modern local Vietnamese fusion restaurant located in Chicago. This was my go-to spot during the winter for their Pho Signature Pho Spicy Vietnamese Bread Overall, good but mostly what you would expect. They mainly focus on their bobas and milk teas but I usually come for their food. Service is great, the food comes out so fast. Ambience gives clean simple aesthetic. Overall, 8/10, can't go wrong https://www.vin-tea.com 8181 N State St Chicago, IL 60610

Honestly more like a 3.5, but I'm optimistic for them, and it's always nice to see cute places like this pop up near downtown! Tl;dr interesting milk tea, EXTREMELY soft/overcooked boba, ok food but smallish portions, nice that they have a lot of seating (across two floors, mostly for small groups, though). Been here a couple times now. I've tried whatever the number one banh mi is, pho tai nam, and the winter melon milk tea. My partner tried the vermicelli bowl with pork. I think so far the food hasn't been anything special, but it's fine. Banh mi was a bit skimpy on the toppings inside and small, but had good flavor. Similarly the pho broth was ok and could be more flavorful, and the meat was a bit dry. I heard the vermicelli bowl was ok but again nothing special. I did appreciate that the nuoc cham it came with wasn't overly sweet like others I've had. If you want to avoid the trek up to Argyle, I'd say this place is a good option for getting your Vietnamese food fix. Never had winter melon milk tea before, but I liked the flavor. We got 50% sugar and it was still quite sweet, but once all the ice melted it was perfect. I will say the boba itself was very disappointing since personally I want my boba to have structure and to be bouncy and chewy. Theirs was more like... soft and mushy. The boba flavor was fine, though, and nicely sweetened. I'd skip the boba next time and just get milk tea, but if you like your boba on the softer side than this is the place! You order and pay upfront and the food came very quickly. The staff were friendly. While there is a decent amount of seating, tables are very small and I don't think there's much space for large groups, at least on the ground floor. Overall a cute place with a nice variety of food, coffee, and boba drinks!

I Doordashed this to my hotel, so this review is for the food only :P It's... Not good... GRILLED CHICKEN OVER RICE: Kinda skimpy on the rice :') Chicken was tender but very salty. Veggies were limp and not crispy. Didn't come with fish sauce, it was some sort of soy sauce instead... I couldn't finish it. SPRING ROLLS: ..... I have no idea what sauce this is tbh. Like some sort of mixed hoisin sauce but not??? I usually prefer nuoc cham or peanut sauce. The flavor was very bean paste-like and very salty... With chili bits... Not my favorite. The roll itself was fine, decent amount of shrimp and veg. BROWN SUGAR BOBA MILK TEA: Gummy af boba with too much syrup... Milk tea was too sweet... Ugh Sad............ Maybe I just ordered the wrong items?

Creative Vietnamese Brunch with Standout Wings, Though the Egg Coffee Missed the Mark…read more HaiSous remains an enjoyable spot for a more modern take on Vietnamese cuisine, with quick, efficient, and friendly service in a polished setting. We came for brunch right when the restaurant opened, and it was only about 25% full, which made for an easy and relaxed meal. The crispy chicken wings were excellent -- fried well, nicely seasoned, and easily a go-to order. The bánh xèo was also very good, served hot and fresh with a crisp shell and plenty of filling, though I would have appreciated more leafy greens and herbs for wrapping. The bánh canh cua, or crab noodles, had genuine flavor, a nice spicy balance, and was served piping hot. The crab meat is broken up into the broth, so you do need to drink the spicy broth to get the full benefit of the dish. The beef papaya salad was just alright. Compared with other papaya salads I've had, I wanted more sourness and tartness to give it that sharper, more authentic flavor profile. The biggest disappointment was the cà phê trứng, or egg coffee. After having the real thing in Vietnam, I was excited to try HaiSous' version, but the coffee was not strong or bitter enough to create the right contrast, there was not much beaten egg, and the drink was overwhelmed by a large amount of whipped cream. It came across more like a very sweet dessert coffee than a faithful egg coffee. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would come back. There are some misses, but the stronger dishes -- especially the wings, bánh xèo, and crab noodles -- make HaiSous worth trying for a creative Vietnamese brunch or dinner.

The spring rolls came as a pair, both long. Everything was packaged well. Both dishes were very fresh with great flavor. The chicken cabbage salad was amazingly good, with the cabbage still having some crisp to it despite being mixed with the chicken and dressing. I really like the decorations in there. My only issue was the booth area. The table was not leveled for a suitable pho experience. The table sits very low to where you have to hunch over while you eat. The water, napkins etc. are right at the entrance. Where people are passing by, not very sanitary. But aesthetic makes you forget about that. The food was good though so I definitely come back to eat a seafood pho.

My friend got the "Not BBH" and didn't really like it, and her roommate absolutely despised the Korean Style Dumplings. Definitely get the beef pho at Phodega because it did the job for me besides the overwhelming amount of noodles.

5 stars based on Bahn mi, cha gio and iced coffee I ordered today…read more I must have been part of an early crowd. When I arrived, there was only one other table dining, which made it GREAT for me. It's a decent size hall with 10+ table arrangements, making it pretty great for a group to enjoy their lunch. It also featured a couple of kiosks for ordering, which I thought was a bit easy to miss, since it was tucked away in the left corner when you walked in. It looked like there was also a cashier available to take orders, if you miss the kiosks. I've seen places where they simply do not have anyone at the register to take orders, but that wasn't the case for Lotus. Before deciding to visit them today, I had an impression that their menu choices were very limited compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I was used to. I'm certainly not complaining, since I'm usually a huge fan of select "specialty" approach in restaurants. That's why I decided to order one of their Bahn mi, where I normally would have chosen pho for my first visit. And it didn't disappoint. First off, the size of the sandwich was good. I've had it where they charged a buck or two less, but they weren't big enough to be a full "lunch" portion. Lotus' size, I thought was decent. I had ordered one of their cha gios just in case the sandwich failed to fill me, but I think I would have been okay without it. Cha gio was super good tho! Oh, and the iced V-coffee was good, too. Typically, they'll bring out the coffee before your meal is ready, probably because they're ready-made in the morning and all you'd need to do is pour them over ice. I of course, have known legitimate mom n' pop places, where they'll actually bring out coffee as it's brewing in Phin (stainless steel coffee filter) and a glass of ice with condensed milk, so you can wait for the coffee to finish brewing and pour yourself one, which is what I *always* prefer. Not here, but no big deal. You can usually tell how good the food is going to be by trying their iced coffee. Even though V-coffee isn't known for using "incredible" beans, the balance of the strength of coffee and condensed milk *does* make a big difference in your experience. I felt this place had it correct! I'll definitely come back myself and even bring coworkers or my family to have their Bahn mi again. What I'm not sure about is whether I want to try their pho or bun. First, they don't offer too many variations, so I'm stuck choosing from just a few. (For example, I usually go for "brisket-only" or a combo of brisket and rare steak, but they didn't seem to have those options. Granted, it's possible they'll make it happen if I asked) Secondly, I think they're a couple bucks more expensive than what I would like to pay for a bowl of pho. We'll see.
