I got soooo lucky and randomly walked in during their seasonal Thai tea and coconut soft serve ice cream!! I LOVE COCONUT SO MUCH I WAS SO HAPPY I COULD EXPLODE!! We tried the coconut soft serve and added on a $1 mochi bites. This was so so so so so good - tasted just like that coconut milk drink in a black skinny tin can with the Asian lady in a funny pose IYKYK. Literally my childhood!! My fav drink ever basically converted into a creamy milky smooth soft serve cup. I wish they'd keep this flavor forever cuz I'd go every day if I could tbh. There's a few seats inside with cute Dora's on decor, and the service is super quick! read more

(Kari's Rating 9.5/10) I always stop by here after know or whatever does adventure I've gone on and I think in way too full to get dessert but-NOPE! I always have room for Kurimu. When I went, I got two scoops of the cereal and milk flavor ice cream in a cone and they made it into a duck or some sort of cute animal. Wow it was adorable! I'd come here alone for the aesthetic, staff and attention to detail they out into their ice creams. Friday and Saturday night expect a line but it's definitely worth it! I ordered a two scoop ice cream on the cone, with Thai cookie and mocha ice cream. The staff was so funny and allow me to taste the favours. There are some sitting area at the back of the restaurant, and the waiting space is large. Beside the normal favour, they have their signature Doraemon ice cream. Will come back again and try other favours! read more

I like how they have new flavors throughout the year but that makes it difficult when you find a great one. I got the s'mores flavor and it's my favorite one so far! You are able to try samples. There are a couple of tables on the upper level but not the best for bigger groups. No public bathroom and parking can be difficult to find at this location. read more

I stopped by Kuriumu this past weekend, and I was a little underwhelmed. To start off, the shop was pretty empty when we came by, and this was probably around 7 pm on a Saturday. We got an ube/pandan soft serve in a cone, and it was so tiny for its price point. The ice cream was quite creamy and pretty delicious! However, I think it could have used a bit more of an ube flavor. Overall, I am not quite sure that I would return. I am sure that there are better dessert shops in Chicago. The store was cute though! Kurimu has such good ice cream! They have interesting flavors that are done very well. I couldn't make a choice, so I ended up getting the flight! With the flight, you can't choose which flavors you get. The person working chooses what to give you. But it's okay because the person working chose the best flavors for me!! I tried: pandan, mango yuzu, black sugar boba, matcha kit kat, coconut, and vanilla. They were all very good, with either pandan or matcha being my favorite. My only complaint is this tiny flimsy piece of cardboard they give you to hold the cones. It's a super cute idea! However, it is extremely difficult to balance this and eat the ice cream. Something with just a liiiittle more structure would have been so great. Otherwise you might just need to get a bowl and spoon. read more

I like the fun flavors Kurimu has (pandan, ramune, and carebear flavor which was a mix of lychee, mango, and I think ube) and the cute collaborations they do with other brands/cute cartoons (like currently, Doraemon). However, while I enjoy trying their ice cream, I don't think this is an ice cream I can have a lot of (and ultimately I wish Chicago had better ice cream options comparable to LA or NYC). Overall, this place is solid and I might get it if I'm in the area, but probably won't trek out here just to eat their ice cream. read more

Came here a few weeks ago while the Line friends collab was still in season. Got the Choco Banana and Mango Sticky Rice in a Midnight Vanilla cone. Kind of pricey for ice cream but very much worth it. Even the place is super cute, with space to sit and hang in the loft, whereas the other location in UIC is very small. My only gripe is that at the time I went with my group of friends, the guy making my ice cream gave standoffish vibes. Could be a stressful day, but even the girl working with him looking stressed was still polite and had better customer service. Also when asked about adding boba as a topping to my ice cream, he said he can put it in a cup -- whereas the UIC location, the standard is to put boba in the bottom of the cone. I didn't like his method so I didn't get boba this time. But otherwise, I love the concept of an ice cream shop showcasing Asian flavors. I wish we had one in South Florida! read more

I can't begin to understand why this place exists. Overpriced Asian sugary drinks with minor connection to Doraemon. Do many Chicagoans have a strong connection or nostalgia for that? Yet, there was a solid line the entire time I was there. My lychee sparkling drink was literally just lychee syrup and soda water at a ridiculous price. I will say that the place is clean and bright, but I can't imagine why I'd come there more than once. A standard boba place would be better and cheaper. read more

Great flavor options! The flavors are Asian inspired with Thai Tea, Milk Tea, Taro, Matcha, Mango Pomelo and more. The soft serve has been a great option in the past, but on this last visit the machine was down which limited the menu selection. Flavors were great and no overly sweet which made for an enjoyable treat. There was decent room for seating inside and Doraemon inspired decor. The service was good. We didn't wait to place our order and the employees were pleasant. I'll be back for takeaway pints! read more

I've only been to the Schaumburg location when the Miffy collab was going on. I was really impressed with the interior and the doraemon theme! Dropped by after sushi to try their seasonal soft serve. This time it was coconut and chocolate. They offered a Dubai chocolate soft serve option which I tried. They put melted chocolate and knafeh on the walls of the cup before putting in the soft serve and topped it with grounded pistachios. I wish it was better mixed up because the ground pistachios keep falling off and the chocolate +knafeh was hard to get to until you're halfway through. The knafeh added a nice texture so I wish they had more mixed in. This location doesn't have as many of the tea/asian flavored ice cream options either compared to the Taylor street location. read more

My go to spot whenever I'm in town! I love the thrill of new flavors that you won't really find anywhere else! When in doubt try the ice cream flight in which the servers usually chooses for you or like me...I like to get a pint to snack on in my hotel room for my late night cravings. I also love the constant changes in theme --so cute! If you're lucky you get to meet the character! The staff are always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend stopping by here for your ice cream cravings! read more

Such great flavor variety! I really appreciate the Asian flavors they have and the quality. I do think some flavors are hit or miss, but I loved what I got! A bit pricy but well worth for rotating, unique Asian flavors! The service is quick and friendly. The Miffy ice cream came out to ~$9, which is more than I was expecting, but it's Miffy so worth the splurge. I loved the whole Miffy collab theme for the shop. I got the Mango Sticky Rice flavor, which was delicious with its mochi bits. The mango wasn't super strong but still delicious! The ice cream was soft and the cone wasn't too sweet. Only -1 star because I would expect an Asian ice cream store to have at least 1 dairy-free flavor at all times. Because they didn't, the friend I came with couldn't get anything except a drink :( read more

Staff friendly. Flavor choices too plentiful. The staff said I could try 6 and it really was hard. Finally went with the mocha chip in orange creamsicle cone which was just as tasty. Plenty of searing up top. Very clean. Lots of fun collabs. We missed Snoopy last year. I think this is the second Kurimu location we have visited. Like it. Kurimu is such a cool spot -- literally and aesthetically. The neon purple lights and sleek interior make it the perfect place to snap a few pics before diving in. I got the charcoal vanilla and Harajuku strawberry swirl, and it was amazing! The charcoal vanilla had a smooth, creamy flavor with a subtle hint of smokiness, while the strawberry added the perfect fruity sweetness. Together, they were perfectly balanced and so refreshing. The ice cream here is good enough that you almost forget the atmosphere. Almost. I asked for two scoops of black sesame, which a customer ahead of me had purchased a couple of pints of. The employee said no and explained that it wasn't available because the other worker had taken it away to fill those pints. Fair enough, I thought, so I said I didn't mind waiting a few minutes for it to return. He said that wasn't possible. It was policy. I settled for another flavor, and in an unsurprising twist of fate, the black sesame reappeared mere minutes later after I'd already paid. Timing is everything here, though flexibility is not. Overall, the ice cream is fine. The atmosphere is efficient to the point of being impatient, and the friendliness level matches the policy: technically present, but not actively in use. read more

I've been to other locations too- I am a fan! :) They have a variety of ice cream flavors like black sesame, ramune, hokkaido milk tea, thai tea flavor. Came with a few friends after dinner. Got a scoop of lychee rose (which was a pretty big scoop) and it was good! Not too flower-y. It was just one person working on a Sunday night and the shop was not busy. Parking was pretty busy around dinnertime on the weekend in this area- just street parking so good luck :) try it out! read more

I love coming here for creamy and delicious treats. Definitely worth checking out the next time you're near one. They also have a lot of boba options if that's more your taste! Overall Thoughts: One of the few / only Asian-themed ice cream shops outside Chinatown. It's quite pricey (~$8 for 2 scoops), but they have a nice selection of flavors, most of which are very solid. The space is nice and a chill place to hang out with friends (no bathroom though). Overall, I'd come back for a fix of durian ice cream or to try their other soft serve options. It was ok. I suppose. In that it wasn't gross or particularly offensive. I'm just not sure what makes them special. Maybe I needed to get the durian or ube or another unusual flavor, but I got their special caramel sundae and was just... underwhelmed. It is definitely not worth almost $10 per person. I've had a couple good fruity soft serves but man the prices here are just ridiculous. They had a Beatrix collab recently and I haven't been in a white so I went to try it. Was supposed to be white chocolate and caramel soft serve swirled with caramel and chocolate chip cookies on top. Couldn't taste either flavor in the soft serve and the cookie pieces were stale. And it cost (after I rounded up to the next dollar for tip) TWELVE DOLLARS for a cup of mediocre soft serve. I was si disappointed. Won't be back with these prices when I can get Jeni's for $6. read more

Cute dessert spot in Wicker Park! Lots of Asian desserts and flavors. I was really tempted to get ice cream as they had unique flavors but opted for my favorite, a taro drink. It was my first time trying Kurimu, they have a taro snowflake drink which I ordered. Rare, they put A LOT of taro paste which was great for a taro lover like me. I really appreciated that! Personal preference but I think I'll ask for no boba next time since the drink was so thick already lol. In addition, since it was mostly taro, the drink wasn't very cold because the taro paste is originally warm I think. Maybe with all the paste and boba there wasn't much room for ice? Kurimu is always the move when you're craving something sweet - especially for asian flavors! I love that they have different collabs where they decorate the whole store and sell menu items based on the current theme. The current collab is with Peanuts/Charlie Brown - super cute!! I've been to all 3 locations (UIC, Shaumburg, and now Wicker Park) and this location had the best decor! I always get the kurimu swirl because they rotate the flavors so its always fun to try them all. This week was horchata x milo. I was afraid the chocolate flavor was ganna be too strong but its very mild. I wish the horchata flavor stood out more but it was still delicious! I need to try their boba next! read more

Cutest little dessert shop. The workers were so sweet and kind. They have this banafee ice cream there that is just right up my alley. It's banana and coffee flavored ice cream with pie crust chunks and SO good. Even their cones have an amazing flavor. Just delicious. They don't have a public restrooms. Went back for ice cream since it was so good the last time I stopped here. Unfortunately service wasn't as good as it was before and when I went it wasn't busy at all. The lady didn't seem to like the idea of giving us samples or answering questions. Overall she didn't seem like she wanted to be there working. The ice cream and soft serve were still really good except the boba was more stuck together from what I remembered before. That's ok though as it was all still really good. Food - you come here for the ice cream obviously. Very aesthetically pleasing! I really liked the mystery swirl but I played it safe with purple yam. They can only do toppings on the swirls though sadly. Service - friendly folks are ready to help you order should the screens confuse or reject your creations as was my experience lol. Ambiance - I loved all the snoopy and neon lights. There were a small gaggle of screaming children whose parents were pretty absent and who kept running around the seating area, but that's not the fault of the restaurant at all. We were there at 7:30pm on a Thursday. It was pretty calm and fun aside from that. Not a lot of indoor seating - some standing tables. No bathroom. read more

When we politely asked about the missing item, two different employees rudely insisted we'd already received it, told us to go wait at the end of the long line again, and one of them actually snapped, "You're not getting it for free." Mistakes happen. What shouldn't happen is refusing to correct your own mistake, being rude to customers, and accusing them of trying to get something for free when they've already paid for it.

The hot fudge was less impressive, but that might be because I had already eaten a Ghirardelli sundae earlier in the day and their hot fudge just can't be beat. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was kitschy and fun. It's a cool place.

Truffle Croissant (5/5): A must get, super intense black truffle against a perfectly flaky and chewy buttery croissant. The large bits of pearl sugar add pops of sweetness that I loved. Mango Tart (4.75/5): Mango really shines through with melt in your mouth texture and fruity sweetness. Coconut pasty cream adds almost a nutty flavor and luscious mouthfeel to contrast against the lightly crunchy cookie crust. Prosciutto Croissant (4.5/5): Pastry again impeccable with sharp saltiness from the prosciutto and cheese. Still absolutely delicious, but hard to recommend with how good the other items were. Longanisa Breakfast Sandwich (5/5): Another life changing bite. Hash brown add on is unbelievably crunchy against the egg bite that is pillowy soft and fluffy roll. Longanisa is salty and sweet, just the best way to start your morning. Lumpia (3.75/5): Comes out piping hot and the meat still stays juicy and bouncy. Good, not crazy. Filipino Breakfast with Longanisa and Tocino (4/5): Garlic rice is fluffy, but heavy on the garlic exactly like I love it. Sunny side up eggs were perfectly cooked and the two meats were actually the weakest components, a bit chewier than expected. Chicken Adobo (4.25/5): Chicken has almost a nice char on the outside and doused in a tangy sauce with crispy garlic bits. Tender and juicy, personally preferred this over the longanisa and tocino. Sweet Corn Hojicha (2/5): Only real whiff that we tried. While you could really taste the corn, unfortunately ended up being wayyyy too sweet and I couldn't have more than a sip or two.

Ultimately, while I enjoyed the food and the beautiful space inside, I probably wouldn't wait 45 minutes in the blazing sun to get it again.

The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.
