Very neat place in downtown Fargo. Best for a late night snack. My favorite was the fish taco.

Ate here with a friend from Fargo, so I already had high expectation going into it. Although it's in the north, the tacos were fairly authentic in style yet had their own creative flair. The guacamole was excellent, and had fresh onion. We ordered Mexican Mules, which are basically Moscow Mules with tequila in lieu of vodka. Those were great, but a bit pricey for the drink. I was really happy about the atmosphere. They keep their turntables stocked with excellent records and have a pretty great music-oriented theme on the walls. My favorite was the silver buffalo in the bar. They actually have a lot of legitimately vintage items and explain them on the menu. I had the fish taco and the barbacoa taco. They both rocked, and their sauces made them taste unique. read more

Food was good, service was very poor. Waitress only came to our table twice. When asked how we would like our bill, my friend said "Combined, I will pay for it". She ran my friends card and gave her the receipt, only to find we were charged for several items we did not order. She never returned to our table so we had to go to the bar and explain our bill was not correct. The waitress was so upset and rude about it the bar staff had to ask her to calm down! If we return we hope the staff improves! read more

Love, love, love Vinyl Taco. Lots of great menu items and choices. Chips and Salsa (though not free) are all you can eat and way better quality than most other mexican food choices in Fargo. I also really enjoy the vinyl records and music choices. The only downside is I can't bring my kids here. Love it! read more

Maybe I should give it another shot, but my first and only visit to the Fargo Vinyl Taco was not good. The music was way too loud over the lunch hour - and I didn't enjoy anything I ordered. If I ever try it again, I'll update my review. read more

Love love love Vinyl Taco! Everything from the margaritas to the tacos to the chimichangas! The Barbacoa used to be my favorite taco but when we first started going soon after they opened it was different than it is now. Now it comes with an orange salsa that I don't really care for so I guess next time I will have to find something new. But I do absolutely love the shredded beef chimichanga with queso sauce and of course the chips and salsa!! The staff have always been friendly and upbeat. The restaurant is always packed but we typically find a spot at the bar at slower times. I do crave Vinyl Taco and love recommending this place to anyone searching for a new spot downtown! read more

I really love the food here. It's a funny space, with limited area for tables, and can be terribly crowded. It's also pretty loud, given the brick walls and generally hard surfaces, so not a great bet for date nights or extreme hunger--you can wait awkwardly for a table for quite a while. They have the best guacamole I've ever tasted--even my husband enjoyed it, and he loathes tomatoes. The tacos are small. Start with one or two and add on if you're still hungry. They only cost ~$4 each, so you can do a delicious interesting meal for quite cheap. The fish tacos are exceptional, with lovely crisp fish morsels. Servers have been friendly and knowledgeable. I don't drink at bars often, so can't comment on alcohol prices at Vinyl Taco, but if you sign up for text alerts you can get drink offers via phone (my free sangria was yummy). The atmosphere is funky, the soundtrack 70s, gorgeous bathroom, fun tasty food. When I can get in, I love it! read more

Cool place! I tried the guacamole and deep fried chick skin. Both were great! We had a large group, they dont take reservations, but our server was amazing at trying to make sure we all got to sit together. The service was awesome, drinks were good. We go here at least once a month since they open. Great music selection, awesome atmosphere, a little slower service. Whatever you order- you can't go wrong. My favorites are definitely the pork belly taco and the walleye taco- amazing! Heads up- get a tap beer or margarita. My wife and I are in Fargo from out of town. We stepped in the restaurant with our 4 month old daughter and were immediately told children were not allowed in the restaurant. What a shame... rumor has it that Fargo is trying to "revitalize" the downtown. Good luck with that if you cannot even dine out with your family. Why come downtown Fargo if its not family friendly? read more

So today I tried Vinyl Taco for the first time. At first I was excited for the experience but sadly I was very disappointed. Okay, first I want to tell you that, I paid 15.79 for me, myself. Which is ridiculous, for 2 small tacos, side of red rice and a beer. So when I walked in the place, there is nobody to greet you and let you know it is a seat yourself. I had to track down a waitress that looked at me more than once, to ask her if it was a seat yourself or wait to be seated. So I sat myself and waited at least 5 min before I had a chance to order food. There was no smell of Mexican food cooking, which was odd to me. I am originally from the west coast and know what Mexican food is suppose to taste like. I ordered the chicken and chorizo tacos w/ pico and avocado sauce, 2 of them and red rice. I got my food and the taco were very small portion. The food was bland, the chicken was dry and chorizo was dried out. The red rice was more spicy than the chorizo. The queso was not melted, it seemed put it in microwave and barely let the cheese melt. So after I was done and got my check I ended up paying for a really not good taco. So this place charged for taking the pico off of the taco and putting it on the side which was $.75, which was absurd. The actual restaurant was a mix of Hipster meets Mexican with dash rock n roll, its weird concept. I will not be going back and will not suggest this place to my friends, family, co-workers, or anybody visiting Fargo for the first time. read more
