I asked for a gel manicure with tips. First, my nails were cut and filed with an electric drill (even though there was no need to use anything other than a board file), but the manicurist kept missing my nail and cutting my skin. She didn't put the little antibacterial drops on the cuts either... My cuticles were also completely ignored-- literally just glued some nails on and painted them. Beyond the bumpy surface on my nails, and cuts around my fingers, I am shocked at the lack of professionalism in the salon. One man took his sneakers off and started cutting his toe nails in the middle of the salon floor, my manicurist at one point picked her nose and proceeded to then touch my hand, and I was not seen by the manicurist I requested. It takes a lot for me to write a review, but I'm just so disappointed in this salon. This is my second time leaving dissatisfied with both the way my nails look and the salon experience. Worst nails I've ever gotten. My nail tech was Jenny and she applied the acrylic thick and uneven, spent about an hour on the acrylic application and filing them down. Only left hand is the length I wanted and even though she measured each finder to each other my right and left hand are completely different sizes. I was then passed to another nail tech because she could not do the design I wanted, he then passed me to a different nail tech and we just settled on black french tips. When the gel x was removed from my hand and filed, one of my other nails popped off and this woman had the nerve to charge me for it when it was her fault that she broke it. I had to pay 5 extra dollars for 2 nails one of them not even being my fault. When she applied the new nails, they both looked so uneven and Pringle shaped. A week later, 4 of the nails broke off. Nice nail tech but she nicked my cuticles multiple times to where they were raw and bled in some spots and didn't acknowledge it. The nail extensions were too small for my nail size and were crooked on some. Just not the best. My friend's nails turned out nice tho! read more

I've been getting my nails done since I was about 12 years old. Which means I've been to A LOT of nail salons but mainly in CALIFORNIA. Tallahassee has the nastiest most rude nail salons I've ever been to in my LIFE and Violet Nails is at the TOP of my list. In the span of two weeks I had a nail break off from absolutely nothing. First putting down my sin visor in my car and the next opening the door to my dryer. Almost $200 later and I am HORRIFIED. When I went in the first time to have them fix it they were so rude to not only me but to people walking on. Violet was so pissed she had to do my nails over again she was snapping at customers walking in to the point I had to say something to her. I have never been treated the way I had been treated that day in a place where I'm paying for a top tier service. This place is NOT top tier by any means. Don't waste your time or money! She got her nails done but then they couldn't find her gift card in the system. After a lot of back and forth it got figured out but the owner or manager tried to take her photo?? I visited recently to get my full set taken off and a new one put on. I made an appointment at 10:45 AM, but was not seated until 25 min after. The staff was nice and friendly, very forgiving, so no complaint there. But when I make appointments, I expect to be seen within 5 to 10 minutes of that time. Went in to soak off hard gel and get a regular gel mani. Sat there for about an hour and a half/two hours (or however long it takes for the youtube song playlist to repeat 3 times) with my hands in a bowl of acetone while the tech assigned to me was doing her own thing, probably taking other clients and eating, and when she finally came back she was watching some movie or show the entire time. I know hard gel is a bit more difficult to get off, but from my previous nail tech I was told you're supposed to drill till you get to the base and then soak. Instead, after almost two hours of soaking, the tech decided to rip them off with a plastic nail tip, which if that's how it was gonna go down, she should've done it from the beginning. So I decided to forgo the gel mani as my nails are now thin, sensitive and hurting because the surface of the nails were literally ripped off. This salon's definitely an in and out place where they just care about getting customers in a chair, sitting and waiting for way longer than they should, then kicking you out right after. And if you're okay with dirty files, drills, clippers, and cuticle pushers that have been used on god knows how many people before you, then perhaps this is the place for you. read more

I an on a vacation, day one and one of my nails has *fallen off* Get this- nails done Friday and one nail falls off next day. What the actual heck? And they had promised me a couple weeks to a month. I got a gel mani thinking it was going to be fine considering I've been here multiple times. The guy doing my nails didn't put cuticle oil on, barely filed my nails, didn't smooth them out completely after removing the previous gel leaving them to come out clumpy, not smooth, didn't buff them, didn't bring my cuticle down to remove the excess skin, and left them dry. I feel like I didn't get the entire manicure as he skipped a lot of steps. Usually I love this place, but not happy with the results. read more

Updating review from 5 stars to 2. I went three or four times, and the quality of service declined each time. Unless Violet is doing your nails herself, the quality will lack. They also do not follow appointments. So, even if you request a certain person, you will go to whoever is first available or have an extremely long wait time. My last appointment was for a fill and the original set was not drilled down enough before the fill was done. You can see the outline of the original set and they do not look cohesive. These nails lasted me 4 weeks and did not chip off not once. The most compliments i've had on nails. All the people there are so nice and offer refreshments and snacks for the costumers.
