Let me say this first and foremost, Nancy was really nice over Yelp and made setting up my appointment very easy. Her responses were quick and kind, which really set this place up with the expectation that it's a friendly establishment. Unfortunately, I had a super awkward experience when I actually got there for my appointment. The missing 3 stars are due to the rude receptionist/tech (Lina). First off, she yelled at me to sanitize my hands in front of everyone - she was with a guest and couldn't bother to even look up when I entered. If she had done so, she would have seen that sanitizing my hands was the first thing I did! (insert eye roll emoji) Then when I was seated, she hopped over from the guest she was working on (no changing gloves, no washing hands) and started filing my polish off aggressively, yanking at my fingers to pull me closer. They also called my phone while I was being man handled by Lina and left a message asking why I wasn't there and that I should call them if I'm not coming....?! Maya eventually took over to do my actual dip and she did a fantastic job. While sitting with Maya, I could overhear Lina telling a new customer she was working on "you could be prettier, anyone can nowadays if they have money!" I felt so bad for that woman! Such an awful thing to say. If you still decide to go here, just know you will be judged as soon as you walk through those doors. Anyway. It was such a strange experience, I can't say I'll go back. That's too bad since it's conveniently located near my office and I believe in tipping generously. You can have the best product or techniques but if you're lacking in customer service - it ain't worth it. My search continues! read more

I'm shocked to have to leave this kind of review, because I have been a loyal customer to this nail salon for years and during my visit today I was completely outraged. I was one of two customers in the salon at the time as it was obvious he had more employees hanging around on there phones than customers. once I had my hands free from the acrylic prep and it was time to paint my nails i took a moment to look at potential ways to design my nails as my manicurists usually does encourage for that extra money right (Business as usual). well than not even 10 minute later the owner Derek comes over and starts aggressively speaking at me to hurry up and that I will be charge extra for his employee time as well! I was instantly startled because his other employees are clearly not busy, Im about to spend the extra cash money on designs and was informed to take some time to looking at these designs. You are greeted immediately upon arrival and they even remember your name! Today, Lina was most gracious and fit me into a very busy schedule. Booked with VIP Nails in Maui for my wedding nails and had such a wonderful experience! I was looking for a gel manicure, but ended up getting a pedicure, as well :) I typically have short nails, but was trying to grow them out for the wedding. Since they were still quite short and I wanted ombré nails, Tony, the nail tech, was able to get me the look despite my short nails! He was so kind and knew exactly what I wanted just by showing a quick picture of it. The staff there was very welcoming and made me feel at ease. You can tell they are all very experienced. When I went, they were in a temporary location as the original shop was getting renovated. Too bad I wasn't there to see how it turned out :( maybe next time! read more

I asked to get my acrylics "soaked off" got my acrylics done from my og nail tech but she was out of town, so checked them out instead shoved a new acrylic plastic underneath so FAST, NOT CAREFULLY! Derrik made two of my fingernails bleed. My ring finger nail is ripped in half, is not connected to my nail bed, and managed to rip off half of my fingernail! Before coming in my nails were in great shape underneath my acrylics all the damage was from yesterday after going in, a full day later my fingers are still in SO MUCH PAIN! My thumb also has a giant crack throughout the entire thumb my fingers are in pain it is difficult to work at my job now because of this will probably take a good amount of time to completely heal and grow out. I came here because my original salon was booked for the day and I broke a nail and needed it fixed ASAP, I also needed a refill so I booked that as well, service was quick and staff was okay. The paint job was pretty bad and my nails are uneven at the top. The most terrible part of this experience was that the guy kept being harsh on a open cut I had and he rubbed nail polish remover on it multiple times, just careless. Really disappointing. Went in for basic pedicure and half way through they tell me they charge extra to remove callous with the scrubber. Now I am from California and everywhere I have ever been this is included. Some salons will want to charge you extra for callous removal with a special product buy not just the scrubber. A little more customer service, very kind aestheticians, and courteous as far as scheduling. I never felt rushed; in fact I was kept In the chair for a bit longer for extra services. Just left VIP after my first visit. I had left another salon after being ignored for 20 minutes after calling ahead. This just became my new "go to"pedicure spot. I made an appointment an hour ahead and was in the chair within a couple minutes of my arrival. Asked about gel (coat?) and they have at least 50 colors. I use the gel here on Maui because it can take a beating from sand and surf and still look great until my nails grow out. I got the basic pedicure (the deluxe sounds lovely with a long massage and paraffin wax treatment, maybe next time). Tony was great, I felt totally spoiled and my feet feel and look wonderful. Stopped by for a last minute gel manicure and pedicure and they were nice enough to fit me in even though I was super early for my appointment. The pedicure is pretty good. So far, it's survived almost two weeks of sun, sand and swimming and it still looks nice. They do a really good job with the pedicures here. Also got an OPI color gel manicure which has lasted longer than a manicure - but hasn't held up as well compared to some other nail places I've been to. Don't get me wrong - they did a good job and I have been pretty hard on my manicure these past few weeks, I'm just used to the gel lasting a bit longer considering the $40 price tag on the gel. All in all it was a nice experience - the nail techs there are very nice and gentle on your nails. I would go back here for a pedicure, but would probably opt for a regular manicure instead of the gel. read more
