Not entirely sure why this location has less stars than the number I give. The staff have been nothing but courteous and professional-if not a bit unpolished. Hardly a reason for docking a star for a auto service shop. Used to go here for all my cars a few years ago but they kind of went downhill so I ended up going somewhere else! Just last week got tires online and just for the heck of it I called them about installing them and no problem got right in was very surprised. All new technicians . I made an appointment for my wife's car to get tires replaced. They tried to up sell everything under the sun to try to get her to pay more for stuff she didn't need. Also they claimed her tire pressure sensor was brittle and fell apart. We had a full bumper to bumper warranty on the vehicle and brought it to the dealership for the repair. The dealer showed us the sensor they believe it was intentionally broken or broken on accident during the tire change but they didn't want to admit it was their fault and just claimed our sensor was falling apart. read more

I have used Monro for years but in the last year they had a change in management and things have not been good. Recently, I took my car in because of low air pressure alert. After putting it on the rack, they told me nothing to worry about, just need to add air. They sprayed it but no leaks revealed I told them I recently done that but suggested that I come back if still an issue. Of course this morning I found a flat tire!!! Had an exhaust pipe that needed to be replaced. Called around to a few shops and Monroe had the best price (~100 dollars cheaper than a full service mechanic). I checked on line and had a good idea what the retail price would be for the pipes & hangers. Dropped the car off the day before and it was ready ~ 4 pm the following day. Not sure what happened or why, but they could not re-install the new pipe according to the factory specifications using the proper gaskets so the pipe had to be welded to the catalytic converter. If the cat converter ever needs to be replaced now I'll need to also replace the pipe that was just installed as the fittings on both have been irreversibly damaged (flange cut off of exhaust pipe, stub welded to converter). I was told they tried several gaskets and none fitted properly - even one purportedly purchased from the dealer. Really? My guess is that something got damaged during dis-assembly or otherwise mucked up. Had I known this would happen, I would have taken the vehicle someplace else to get it properly fixed. ETA 06Dec2014: In response to Brittany's reply to my post, I called the number she listed and left a message.I eventually connected with her and provided information about my repair and requested it be fixed correctly preferably at a dealer. she indicated this claim would be passed along to the district manager. I'll update once again when I hear back regarding this request. I Googled Brittany's number and it appears to be linked to a number of negative reviews for various muffler shops around the country. Update 26 Feb 2015: To date, I have not heard back from Brittany but did leave another message today. I eventually did hear back form the shop manager. He offered to cut the pipes (that they welded together because they couldn't get the gasket to seat properly) and put flanges on but would not replace the pipes/converter with factory-spec'd parts. So if either one needs to be repaired I"ll now be stuck replacing both, which will double the repair bill. Thanks guys, read more

They tried to rip me off and didn't even complete the work they said. I brought my car in for an oil change and knew I had a brake and exhaust issue so I asked them to check both. I waited about 2 hrs and they told me I needed a flex pipe, both control arms, and ball joints and new back rotors. The paper said what was needed as well as that they rotated my tires and quoted me 1,200.00. I told a friend that is good with cars and he told me he would take a look because something seemed off from issues I was experiencing. He jacked it up on one side and checked my control arm and ball joint and everything was sound. He went to check the otherside, which had visible excessive brake dust and it took him almost an hr on one lug nut because the caliper was frozen open and it heated up so much the lug nut wouldn't budge and would have broken off if they had tried to use a machine on it to remove it. They never checked my brakes without taking the tire off and obviously didn't rotate my tires as stated or else they would have snapped my lug nut and seen that the caliper was clearly the issue. On top of that, the mounts that hold my exhaust steady were both removed which would have been all but impossible to just come off, allowing my exhaust over time to become more damaged if it went unnoticed. Don't trust them and definitely get a second opinion. I can't believe I almost paid 1200.00 on something that wasn't even broken in my car and they didn't even address the real problem that I told them to look at. read more

This place sucks and the manager is a D bag. They tried to charge me 350 dollars to fix the master window switch. I bought it online for $28 and installed it in 5 minutes. They told me it would take about 3 hours to repair. They are morons over there. Plus he told me he waved the diagnostic fee because he assumed I was going to get the repair done there. (Without taking off the E brake) then tell me he won't do my simple oil change because my car is too messed up. They charge you ahead of time for an incomplete inspection, and then they yell at you when you tell them they need to finish the job. Had to go back 3 times because they kept promising they'd fix the issue. I got yelled at for requesting that they do an emissions test on my car, even though it's needed to pass inspection. Then they snap at you when you ask questions. Horrible customer service. Will not be going back again and I don't recommend it to anyone. read more

I was two days away from driving clear across the country when I blew a fuse not once but twice and had a wiring problem with my trailer. I headed into Monro close to dark in a now urgent situation. On short notice everything was fixed and I was given extra fuses in case I needed to do roadside repairs on the side of the road during my journey...to top it all off they didn't charge me a cent. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE! NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH ANY MONRO MUFFLER!!! I never make negative reviews but I feel this one is too bad not to pass on! On Thursday December 21, 2017 I brought my vehicle in for a basic oil change, wiper replacement, tire rotation and air filter. I dropped it off on my way into work then went on my lunch to pick it up. When I went to pick it up I was told I needed a serpentine belt and an A/C belt. They told me it was very cracked and will go at any moment. I was driving 5 hours north the following day for Christmas and they made me feel like it needed to be changed immediately so I paid the extra $207 and got it done. I was warned over and over by my coworkers to not go there! That they were rip offs and hacks but I thought I was stuck and prayed nothing bad happened. I picked up my truck when it was done at 6 and went around the corner to finish my Christmas shopping and proceeded home. I was a mile and a half down 101a and tried to stop and didn't have any brakes!!! A curb stopped me and thankfully I didn't hit anyone. We had my truck towed to a reputable place that my boyfriend uses regularly. And him and the tech were underneath my truck my brake lines were rotted out! Visibly rotted out! Monro had my truck up on a lift and per their website and paperwork do brake inspections. They did not notice nor did they care that my brake lines were rotted! I sent a few messages when I got back from my Christmas vacation. Finally, a gentlemen named Paul from the Haverhill store called me. He was very apologetic. I expressed my concern of allowing a vehicle to leave the Amherst store in a very unsafe position. He stated they wanted to rectify the situation. The end result was Paul was going to reimburse me. He said it was being processed immediately and I should see the refund soon. Well a couple days went by and on January 2nd I followed up. Conveniently Paul was on vacation for the week and I was told that corporate was handling it. So I called corporate. This is when my frustration with the Amherst store became corporate wide. I left a message and about 2 hours later I received a call from Kim Thousands. Where she proceeded to tell me I would not be receiving my refund because Paul didn't have the authority to offer it. She kept saying Paul went against company policy and they were not refunding me. I asked her whose fault that was and she kept trying to place blame on me. As if I was supposed to know that Paul has no connection to the Amherst Store she would not take responsibility for her corporation's negligence. Now my issue lies here. They allowed an unsafe vehicle on the road. I was promised a refund by one of THEIR employees. She told me they needed proof that I had to have my brake lines replaced. I emailed them to her. She called me back yesterday and left me a message stating that she had an update. I emailed her because I was at work and asked for an update. Her response was she preferred not to do it over email. Now just my thinking if you believe you are doing the right thing you would want your butt covered and where I work we do a follow up email with every phone call we make good or bad just so there is a paper trail, which is what she didn't want. When I spoke with her this morning, she denied me the refund again due to Paul not being authorized to issue it. Not once did she apologize for the brake line over sight. Not once did she apologize for store putting myself and my kids and any other driver in danger. She kept the focus on Paul not being authorized to issue me a refund. She was rude and inconsiderate. I will never ever do business with this company again because they don't care about their customers and they care more about ripping people off and not doing a thorough job to ensure their customers safety. They had my truck up on a lift and they didn't see how badly rotted my brake lines were even though they state everywhere you get a brake inspection with oil changes! read more

Went in for an oil change and tire rotation. I checked the filter when I got home and it had not been changed. I know this because I use an OEM filter which is easily visible from above. Tires had not been rotated and I was up sold on the oil. The manager did the work but put a different employees name on the receipt. No response to an email sent to the district manager. I would recommend checking everything when dealing with this outfit. read more

I would like to get the District Manager's name and telephone number for the Monro Auto on State Route 101-A in Amherst. I was severely overcharged for a car battery (nearly 3x what the actual battery would cost had I bought it at an auto supply store down the road) and the manager (Jessie) has no idea how this happened nor is able to credit us what we agreed upon for credit (he didn't learn how to credit in training). ("That's the price the system gave when I put in the battery information." Is he not a mechanic who would look at this price for the battery for a mid-size CRV and say, "Whoa, something's wrong here?") He's dancing around us, hoping for us to just walk away. We will not. He offered a $50 credit and we replied that we would take nothing less than $100, and that's still an overpayment. When we asked for his district manager's name and number, he replied with "Al" and said he didn't have a phone number for him. Get. Second opinion! Last Septmber I went in for an oil change and was told I would need to have my brakes replaced. I said I would run that by my husband and the manager said to tell him he would give him 10%off the lowest price we found elsewhere. My car was due for inspection in October and they said I should have them replaced before inspection. My neighbor who is a mechanic happened to be at the house when I returned home he checked my breaks and told me they were no where near having to be replaced. My car was inspected this October(a year later!). And I was told the breaks should be replaced within the next couple of months! BUT, they would change it for $120.00 ( plus cost of sticker) and it would pass. I advised her to take the reject sticker. I bought a new belt for $25.00 and 10 minutes for me to install. She took it back, it passed. They are price gouging and holding inspection stickers as hostage. I notified the State, they said they don't regulate prices. I was treated so inappropriately and given unprofessional advise. Christpher Busa was the person and says also the manager. I was in the store for new tires with my 2 young children. As I was paying $621.16 for the work being done he questioned if I worked because I had children and what I did for work and if I made money. They way he was saying it was as if he was questioning if I had money for the work being done. When he noticed I as pregnant he asked, "Is your husband going to get a vasectomy? and if not you need to make him. And if the nurse is shaving him for too long then she is playing with him." I was so upset by this. I have never been treated to inappropriately by a business and appalled it came from the manager especially. I paid quickly and left. I will not return to the store. As for the service I had an appointment at 9 the car was not on the lift until 930. They never cleaned off the blue stuff from my tires and seemed understaffed. Had always accepted competitor's coupon. No longer apparently. Also had always paid just under $65 for full synthetic oil change. Today for an inspection and oil change, paid $117. Was charged $97.47 for the oil change! Only took $10 off for the inspection. Even though had presented THEIR coupon for the oil change. Then they didn't rotate the tires and check the tire pressure which is part of their oil change package. Guessing they didn't inspect brakes either. Asked when time to pay and received attitude that we didn't schedule it. Again, their website and coupons state FREE 4-tire rotation, FREE tire pressure check and FREE brake inspection. For $97.47 I would expect I wouldn't have to ask. Will be taking our 4 vehicles elsewhere. Very overpriced, poor attitudes and slow service. Upsell, upsell, upsell, upsell, even if the customer doesn't need it. This was my experience. I used to have no prob with this place for years and then they fired all the staff and hired new people, who made me deeply uncomfortable with their sales tactics. I went in for a simple inspection on a car with 0 things wrong with it. The tech was a smug and argumentative fast talker who only cared about selling me extra services I didn't need, even after several times telling him No. He advised I needed a new serpentine belt to pass inspection (not an inspection issue per NH law) because mine was "frayed," which he later denied saying. Later, he changed his tune to "cracked." The serpentine was in amazing condition. Nothing wrong with it other than a little wear you would see on any belt that had maybe a couple months use on it. It was perfect. He wanted to charge me $105 for a belt that was $15 and takes 5 minutes to install. I took it to a different very reputable shop with many years of experience after this who looked at the belt and immediately gave me an inspection sticker and the tech could only shake his head at Monro's unethical and downright false information. Needless to say, I, my wife, and others in my family will never, ever go here again. Congrats, Monro, you lost multiple customers for snakey business practices. STAY FAR, FAR, FAR away. As far as I can tell, this place is now your typical infamous gouging mechanic shop that all fear going to. read more

I took my daughters car to Monro for an exaust pipe and muffler replacement, after the replacement I took my car back to Monro because I thought the exaust was hanging low. The people at Monro looked at my car IN THE PARKING LOT from INSIDE the shop, and claimed the exaust hangs low on her model car. The exaust was hitting the ground when going over bumps, and eventually wore a hole in the exaust pipe. Again I took my daughters car back, this time they admitted the origional work wasn't done right, the manager just kept claiming he has been in this busness for years and has seen everything, and I could have taken the car to MIDAS or another shop for muffler warrenty replacement, and the Monro tech who did the work is no longer working there, but he was willing to re-replace the muffler and exaust pipe for half price. Getting a muffler and exaust pipe for 150% of the regular price and three trips to Monro dosen't seem right to me. I also called the Monro District Manager, left him a message, he didn't even bother returning the call. read more
