Please bring back the clay pot yogurt. This was very unique, and our favorite. Why would one pay extra to buy the same thing?

Definitely one of the best French Bakery in Queens area or even in NYC!! Everything was good!…read more Location: It is located around the corner of 39th avenue and bell boulevard. The restaurant/bakery is big with lot of seating. Great display of cakes, pastries and breads. Street parking is available. Service: the nicest people. Food: all of their cakes, pastries and breads aew amazing. But two of my favorites are: DUKE: definitely a must! Its chocolate cake with I believe a cookie crust inside. It comes in cubes so definitely easier to share. CRUNCHY: this is the very must!! It's chocolate mouse inside with layers of other chocolates. Plus with nuts on it. It's like a ferrero but bigger! Price rating: 7/10. It was not expensive a good cake. I always buy cake here for special occasions or even if I am craving cakes. Visit this, its worth it!

Known for its aesthetic desserts and pastries, I praise the spot for standout items like "The Crunchy" cake, fruit tarts, and vegan croissant, and the service is good. The bakery features an inviting, rustic-modern design with marble tables and large windows. A great place to sit, chat, or relax with a dessert. My wife and I rave about the fresh, high-quality ingredients used in their pastries. Standouts include their pistachio mille-feuille, fresh fruit tarts, and savory turkey-swiss croissants. They also offer an expanding menu of vegan pastries. Most of the patrons like me enjoy the fast, accommodating service, especially from the dedicated baristas. The coffee and espresso drinks earn good marks for me, with favorites like the caramel macchiato and Nutella hot chocolate. A really good place to enjoy sweets and relax.

Martha's is a staple bakery in Queens, now expanded into other boroughs, and they've done…read moreincredibly well over the years maintaining quality and consistency in their desserts. There's usually a line of some length during peak hours and especially around the holidays. You can tell by the sheer volume of baked goods and cakes available in their window displays that they sell a lot daily. This location is on the main drag of the little downtown section of Forest Hills, the baked goods in the front window display connect to a tall and long glass counter along the left side of the store that extends almost to the back. At the back middle and along the right side of the wall there's seating for about two dozen people at small cafe tables. They carry an assortment of traditional cakes (full and sliced), pies, cookies, pastries, cheesecakes, cupcakes, ice cream and coffee/tea drinks. A wide variety of flavors in each, so you're bound to find something sweet to satisfy most here. They are a classic bakery so from what I can tell, they don't carry items that are gluten, dairy or nut free. I've purchased their apple pie, fruit tart, berry napoleon, red velvet and chocolate fudge cakes from this or other locations in the past and they're all solid choices for desserts to share with a larger group, though I find a lot of their cake options to be on the richer side. My most recent encounter with their cakes came in the form of a slice of their seven layer cake $9.95 which is thin layers of yellow cake alternating with chocolate cream mmm pretty tasty, and their caramel cake $9.95 which had a layer of chocolate cake in the middle, sandwiched by caramel cream and white cake on either side. The latter had a pronounced caramel flavor that was enjoyable though a bit too much cream for me. My preference would be for their chocolate cakes over other cake flavors here. Their apple pie is one of my favorite apple pies anywhere tho!

But I walked in today and saw this absolutely gorgeous cupcake birthday surprise they were preparing for someone's fifth birthday that I had to take a picture. However, the staff were also super warm and accommodating, and the quality of the items we got (gluten free vanilla and chocolate cupcakes) was great. The actual cake bases of both types were moist and flavorful. I could've gone with a little less frosting and more cake, but it made for a very aesthetically pleasing topping with the vibrant colors, sprinkles, and glitter. I kept getting strong hints of rose flavor from the pink frosting on the chocolate cupcakes so I'm not sure if they infused it with that. Overall, a great little spot, and really a savior for procrastinators looking for sweet goodies to take to a gathering when other last-minute ideas fall through!

Growing up in Northeast Queens, bakeries were everywhere. You could walk into almost any…read moreneighborhood and have your pick of incredible baked goods, often from family-run shops specializing in different ethnic traditions. Over the years, as many of those bakers retired, the number of quality bakeries slowly dwindled. One by one, many of the old favorites disappeared. So when Aphrodite's opened, I was eager--and a bit skeptical--to see if it would be worth the trip. Then I tried their mini cheese empanadas, and that settled it. These little sweet treats are unbelievably addictive. I've brought them to gatherings and shared them with friends and family, and without fail they disappear almost instantly. I honestly can't think of another baked item I've purchased that has been so universally loved. Since then, I've started exploring more of their pastries and baked goods, and each visit has been a pleasant surprise. One item seems better than the next. No, the prices are not cheap--but the quality absolutely justifies it. In this case, you really do get what you pay for. If you stop in, do yourself a favor and try the mini cheese empanadas--you'll understand why they've become my go-to order.
