Please bring back the clay pot yogurt. This was very unique, and our favorite. Why would one pay extra to buy the same thing?

Darjeeling Kitchen & Café - Himalayan Curry: I don't typically like mushrooms but these were divine and the hint of carmelized onions on the Chinese broccoli was great!

The restaurant felt homey and I could tell there were many regulars and other return visitors, for good reason! Ordered: Masala Chai ($4.50)- this tasted authentic, was nicely spiced, and wasn't too sweet. I only wish the cup was bigger. Steamed momo ($12+)- I like how you have the option to mix and match. We ordered the mixed vegetable and the oyster mushroom and surprisingly I much preferred the oyster mushroom variety. The mixed vegetable momo tasted more earthy to me. Himalayan rice set ($20.5)- this was a very nice assortment- there was rice, lentil dal, your protein of choice- (I chose beef brisket), stir fried cabbage, broccoli rabe, pickled vegetables and crisp flatbread. The only downside in my opinion was that the brisket wasn't too tender and I didn't love the beef flavoring or preparation. The rest of the items were so delicious! I've been thinking about this meal ever since I left the restaurant. You don't want to skip this place.

I just feel like the flavors could have been better on everything I got. I had one dish that the The chili chicken was sweet and spicy but it wasn't particularly better than any other spicy chicken I ever had. The jhol momo tasted cheesy which was unexpected and didn't go with the sauce or broth. The roti was more tortilla sized n pretty flat. Maybe that's just authentic to Tibetan cuisine. The empanada things were fine.

Darjeeling Kitchen & Café - Of course I had to have Darjeeling tea at its namesake. It was delicious.

Friend and I both got the 4-course prix fixe. One option is either the naan or soda, and we both opted for naan. Also, the entrees largely seem to come with rice here, which is great. I got the lamb samosa (which is not very gamey if you don't like lamb), along with the chicken korma (breast meat is on the dry side, and the korma is more savory than nutty), along with the kheer (rice pudding) which I liked a lot due to having texture from the nuts and not being too sweet. I tried my friend's malai kofta (the croquettes are a bit sweet, and I liked the sauce more than my korma) and rasmalai (which is sweeter than the kheer, but not so sweet). I tried the Taj Mahal beer which is like a pilsner, and light. I enjoyed it. I'd come back here to try other things, perhaps during the weekend buffet, to give it another shot at being my go-to Indian in Astoria given how affordable this is.

Our waiter was rather reserved and not very helpful. When we ordered, food preparation took much longer than we expected and was not quite up to par with other Indian or Nepalese restaurants in the area. In my opinion, not worth a second visit

I ordered chicken saag and my wife got chicken tikka masala with cheese and garlic naan each. The chicken saag was good but it seemed like there wasn't much chicken in there could have been a bit more but overall it was very good. My wife's chicken tikka masala was different than what it world normally taste. The sauce was actually very sweet which we didn't really like. The garlic naan on the other hand was absolutely amazing, probably the best tasting naan I've ever hard. I would go back here just for the naan itself. The cheese naan was also very good and was stuffed with cheese. I'm definitely going to give this place another try and ordering the garlic naan is an absolute must! The place is also very spacious so plenty of seating!
