I want so badly to give this place 5 stars. Let me start by saying, my family and I go here as often as we can. The food is AMAZING. It's worth whatever you have to put up with, just to get to eat it. BUT the service is terrible. Every. Single. Time. I reached out about it a few months back, and the person who responded did a wonderful job in trying to recover my experience- but as soon as I started going back, it was exactly the same. The people who work behind the scenes obviously care a lot - and I've never been to the Canada stores. But in PDX - it's the entire FOH staff which leads me to believe it is an issue with management as it bleeds from the top down. Please virtuous pie - find a long term solution!! In the mean time, go out night, service is marginally better but whatever DO NOT going during the day!!!! *UPDATE* they really take feedback to heart, and reached out privately to make amends. Their pies are delicious! I've driven 30 minutes out of my way just to get a slice of their margherita pizza. The cheese is so soft and melty and everything I've been looking for since becoming plant-based 3 years ago. The space is really trendy too. One minor critique is their coffee. Their espresso machine is super cool but the coffee itself tastes a little burnt for my liking. Either way, I will always be back for pizza and ice cream. read more

was REALLY looking forward to trying this place out (so many good reviews & have heard so many good things) but i was left disappointed. as a vegan for two years, i've had my fair share/ variety of different vegan food. the pros: 100% vegan the aesthetic variety of options cons: quality (of pizza-- didn't try anything else) overpriced long wait (but it was the weekend, after all) minutes after consuming the pizza, my boyfriend had the worst stomach ache (he doesn't typically eat vegan food). it is likely from the cashew cheese (as cashews can make your digestive lining inflamed). it left my stomach queasy, as well. left with disappointment and a stomachache. read more

Virtuous Pie's made in house vegan cheeses and ice cream are amazing. Unlike most pizza places that will offer something like Daiya, this place was such a treat. I ordered the Superfungi and the Meatball + Chevre. Both were excellent. I brought a pint of their Dark Chocolate Mint ice-cream home, and it was delicious. this place is unreal. we got the superfunghi and the stranger wings pizzas as well as the greek salad and everything was soso good. we took Cailin's recommendation(she's great!) and added their vegan pancetta to the superfunghi and it added the perfect balance of smokiness with the mushrooms to it, i'd do that again in the future for sure. the pizzas were a good size for the price, you get about six small slices in a pie. they have cocktails and a good tap menu as well as kombucha. we got the pfriem ipa but next time i'll go for a cocktail. we ended the meal off with a flight of their vegan ice cream. this was a highlight of the meal. the cashew chocolate was SO good. i'd honestly opt out of normal ice cream for this one. the texture was just so amazing and the flavors were so rich. this place is equally much an ice cream place as it is a pizza place, the ice cream really blew my mind. all in all, without being a vegan, i'd come back in a second. my friend lives a block away and I know where i'll be showing her the next time we're wandering the neighborhood. read more

This place has some of the best ice cream I've had in 7 years of being vegan. My partner and I are visiting Portland from Arizona and wanted pizza our second night in town. I expected it to be more of an upscale place with full service and was surprised that you order at the counter, but the atmosphere still makes for a nice date night. We ordered the superfungi pizza and curry potato salad to share, plus cocktails. Everything was SO GOOD! Afterwards we decided to go all out and get some ice cream for dessert. I got the rocky road flavor with a waffle cone and it was amaaaazing, absolutely the perfect consistency. I think they use a mix of coconut milk and maybe cashews, but I didn't ask so I'm not sure. Whatever they use, it's excellent. We'll totally come back here the next time we're in Portland. read more

The pizza was really yummy! The prices are pretty steep in my opinion. Also there are fruit flys everywhere. The staff is super friendly. I hadnt had pizza in so long due to being lactose. The pizza i ordered was stranger wings. I liked the spicy cauliflower on it. I went to this pizza place with four others, none of us had been here previously. I'm a vegan and was really excited to try this place out. First. The menu is pretty confusing. There were several things I had never heard of in the ingredients list for each pizza. The seating was stools or hard metal chairs. Also, it had prices for the "Beer on Tap" but no kinds listed. Even the taps were unlabeled. Here are the pizza we ordered/shared: Stranger Wingers- first, one of the ingredients listed was "fried extra crispy", with commas on either side to show it was its own ingredient. The crust was identical to the rest so IDK what that was about. Despite that this was the best pizza of the bunch. Spicy well cooked cauliflower "wings" with a really good "blue cheese", the heat level was pretty intense though so I could only have 1 slice 4/5. Ultraviolet- slimey and bland 2/5. The kale was burnt and left a bitter after taste in my mouth for 10min after (shouldn't have ended with this one. Meatball + Chevre- Basic meat, cheese, red sauce 3/5 Superfungi- The sauce on this was really good but the mushrooms we're slippery and the crust soggy 2/5. My older sister who is an omnivore said "This is the kind of food that makes me not want to be a vegan." read more

Unquesionably the best pizza I've ever had. My favorite is the Ultraviolet. Absolute perfection. We drive an hour and a half into town to eat here or carry away. It's that good. Their salad dressings and bbq sauce are amazing and they can be purchased by the bottle. The ice cream is fabulous and you would never guess it's non-dairy. Gluten free pizza crust and ice cream cones are available for an extra charge. I've tried the gluten free crust and it's quite good. Lovely atmosphere with outside dining available.
