Well, I should have read reviews before I went. I had an awful experience at Vision First which - is a first for me when it comes to healthcare. The first thing I noticed when I entered the clinic was the strong, pungent smell - they do have out air fresheners, but it sticks with you the whole time. When it came time for me to look at glasses, I made clear that I needed these "just in case" and did not want anything expensive or any fancy add ons such as blue reflective tint lenses, etc. I confirmed with the lady what my allowance with my insurance was and made sure to find a pair that was well under that. I knew I would have some sort of copay for my check up ($10) and my lenses ($65), so I almost choked when she said $269. When I challenged her to confirm what the charges were, she rambled off quietly and indicated they were mandatory. When I asked to see the printout of the charges she handed it to me, and I googled a few of the codes she added on. One of them in fact was the blue light. When I challenged her again, she again denied it. After all of that, she had another colleague come up to me and tell me that I was overcharged $100. When I asked them to explain what the $100 overcharge was, they were not able to. Thankfully, I was able to fully cancel the glasses and will be taking my business elsewhere moving forward. Extremely disappointed with this experience - I used to work in insurance, so saw this kind of provider abuse all the time. Please, buyer beware. read more

Not sure why these guys get such bad reviews. I've had nothing but excellent service from Dr. Hansen and the entire staff. Everyone was welcoming and super nice. Dr. Hansen definitely cares are eye health and ensured my prescriptions were perfect as the last place I went gave a prescription that was too strong these ones are perfect. As a medical professional I'm very aware of not only a provider's knowledge, but their bedside manner. Dr. Davis may have one of the WORST bedside manners ever. He barely looked at me, seemed completely disinterested, and while I spoke to him looked at his computer. Then, when I complained to staff he started to be overly "nice" to compensate. I dropped $750+ for an exam plus contacts and will NEVER return!!!! read more

I am giving 2 stars because the Dr. Jodoin is very qualified and accommodating and the reason for 2 stars. The office is nice enough, but the staff are far from professional and this may be part of the problem. It was 20 minutes past my appointment when I asked if there was a problem and how much longer would I need to wait. Finally an assistant called my name and performed an eye chart exam in a hallway ... I kid you not. Next to the chart was the back door. After my exam, I sat with the general manager to order my contacts and a new pair of eyeglasses. She was very nice, but absolutely clueless. She never gave me my prescription and I called 3 times and sent an email asking with no response. I spoke with the general manager and she told me she would send to me, but nada. When I picked up my glasses, I was seeing double and the general manager told me that is normal and my vision will adjust. I told her I have been wearing glasses since I was 9 years old so I am not new to this rodeo. At the end of the day, the glasses I had ordered were too large for my prescription so I had to reorder a new pair. I did walk away with my prescriptions after asking once again. I just picked up my new frames and the girl at the front desk told me to take a seat and handed me the glasses then asked if all was good. They need skilled staff from the person answering the phone to the general manager. My last visit - seriously, I had better service at Lend Crafter. read more

Just had my second visit with Dr Hansen. My eye Dr I had gone to since I was in Jr High ( well first father and then son) retired and sold his practice to Vision First. I'm now 68 so you can imagine how reluctant I was to go to a new eye Dr. but I like Dr Hansen who I find to be very professional! I'm appalled at the negative reviews who all appear to be blond airheads. People you see an eye Dr for the quality of the Dr not your perceived dislike of the smell of the office. As for eye glasses they are in the business of selling. You should be smart enough to pick out something you can afford. You should also know you are free to take your RX anywhere. I went to Vision First because they were in my network. I spoke with a woman yesterday, she was very polite, assured me that they did, indeed, take my insurance, so I made an appointment for today. Today's experience was terrible. The young man who I was sent to was rude and dismissive. First he was unpleasant about my insurance, in spite of the fact that I checked yesterday, then he literally scoffed at me when I said I wanted to keep my frames. He took me over to look at new frames, and when I turned back, my purse, and my prescription, which I had left at his station were no longer there, and he was working with a different client! I had an appointment, is it too much to expect a person to stick with you until your situation is resolved?! And, dude, NEVER mess with a woman's purse! I do not recommend this eye doctor. Each time I've gone, I've felt that my concerns were minimized and more time was spent trying to convince me to switch to a different product, even though Ive trialed them and decided it was not for me. I left feeling frustrated and pressured and overall had a negative experience. Doctor: nice and knowledgeable. Staff: Cold; unwelcoming; untrained; incompetent. Environment: don't come in if you have sensitivities to strong smells. The air freshener they use causes me a migraine every time I enter and makes me nauseous until I leave. Details: I needed to get new prescriptions after not needing to change for several years. I'd long forgot all the terms and features of what I'd need in a pair of computer glasses. First, I walked in and, in addition to feeling sick from the toxic air freshener, immediately felt like I was interrupting and inconvenient for the staff. No one greeted me until I came up to the counter. Instead, I got the side-eye. Second, once one of the ladies took me back to check my eyes using their machine, she took me back and forth from the office to the machine again because she did something wrong and had to re-image my eye but blamed it on the machine. Next, I saw Barbie, who was nice and seemed knowledgeable, and showed me her glasses which had a blue tint on them as we talked about anti-glare. I said that's exactly what I want. After searching the store to find the right frames, I went back to the counter and was met by a cold, young woman. I felt uncertain about my choice and wondered if I needed a different size frame for this style. I asked if they looked like they fit well and she glanced at me and said, "Looks good." Which didn't really put me at ease. She asked me, "single or double?" I had no idea what she was talking about. I asked her to check the notes in the system from Barbie. She turned to her computer and typed a while, then printed out forms for me to sign. She gave me the wrong forms and had to request the sheet back and then give me the correct form to sign. I was feeling anxious because I didn't know if I was getting all the right features. Me and Barbie didn't discuss anything other than anit-glare. I was hoping the person at the desk could walk me through all my options so I'm well informed for my purchase. But she offered no such info. I asked her if it had anti-glare and she shortly replied, "Yes." So I signed the form and asked for a copy of my receipt. She couldn't figure out how to print my receipt and told me she'd email it to me later. So I left. She never sent me my receipt. When I came to collect my prescription several weeks later, which you need an appointment to pick up your order, I came in, headache returned immediately due to the toxic air freshener. The woman gave me my glasses and told me I'm all set. I asked if we could fit it for me. She stared at me a moment and then said, "I can tighten it a bit for you." She took my glasses to the back, came back out and gave them to me. Told me they were warm so I carefully tried them on. It wasn't a perfect fit but I felt like a bother to her and didn't want to stay any longer than I had to. I looked at the lenses and noticed there was no blue tint to it, which I thought meant anti-glare. I asked her about it and she seemed annoyed. She said they were and I asked why aren't they blue/violet? She offered to send it back to have the "blue added." I just wanted anti-glare. She told me to check it against light and see if I see any glare. I didn't really know what to look for. I saw the reflection of lights and objects but didn't notice it bleeding outward. I left, with doubt in my mind about what I'd just picked up. These ladies couldn't care any less about me and my buyer's remorse. After wearing my new glasses for just two days, I was coming home from work with bloodshot eyes, headache from eyes fighting to focus was even worse than before I got my glasses. I struggled to move back and forth closer or farther away from my computer all day long. And the reflection of my eyeballs and lights and objects around the room was driving me absolutely nuts. So I called Vision First and asked to have my glasses checked. When I called, the woman who picked up the phone sounded like I was interrupting her, again. Cold, annoyed, reciting a line. I asked to be seen ASAP and she said she couldn't get me in for a prescription check until the following month. This infuriated me so I called my insurance and asked to have a second opinion exam at a new location, which they granted. I called up a different location, referred to me by a coworker after I told them my story, and they were able to get me in the very next Monday. I called Vision First back and cancelled my prescription check appointment. The woman said, "it's done." Didn't ask me why, if I wanted to reschedule, how could they make it better--nothing. She couldn't possibly care any less about losing a customer. Good riddance. I hope the doctors at Vision First take a serious look at who is running the front desk and push for training in professionalism, customer service, knowledge about all the products and how to offer options to customers, kindness and learn how to use the office equipment. The exam was perfunctory, the optometrist uninterested. Their exorbitantly expensive frames and lenses are the reasons I only did the exam.

When I called, they refused to say whether anyone at the facility had been vaccinated. They gave the crazy QAnon response: "That's a HIPAA violation" (it's not.) We have yet to have a medical professional not confirm their vaccine status. Now we know that they are on the lunatic fringe. We cancelled our appointments. read more

I've been going to Vision First since I moved to Lowry 18 years ago and Dr. Pond has provided me with excellent care throughout, including my most recent visit on 8/24/2022. I know that Dr. Pond has sold the business and while I see the changes in the office and the staff, the level of care that I have experienced is the same. read more

Most horrible experience. We used this office for years when Dr. Pond owned it. My wife broke an arm of her prescription glasses frame and came with the new identical frame to remove lenses from broken frame and install to a new one. Optician (Tina) said no problem. Normally it takes 2-3 minutes, however 30 minutes later she brought glasses with completely damaged lenses. Store manager said they are not responsible. Phone conversation with higher level manager was unsuccessful. The best offer is 50% off from their inflated price of $400 for progressive lenses. I am filing complaint with FTC. read more

My husband and I came into this optometrist office for a new prescription. We set an appointment and we were able to get in immediately. We got two pairs of great glasses and they've adjusted our glasses for us to make sure that they look great on our faces. I will be returning here. read more

This was the messiest experience I have ever had at doctor's office. The only good thing was how great a doctor Dr. Williams is. After my appointment, I wanted to order contacts and glasses. The assistant that was supposed to help me left and someone else filled in that didn't really know that process. She wasn't able to give me a price breakdown so they had to call me the next day. My glasses and contacts were ordered and when I came to pick them up, that place was chaos. So many customers were waiting and there was no system in place to call them one at a time. I was approached by multiple employees and had to repeat why I was there multiple times. Someone finally brought my glasses to me and said my contacts won't be there for weeks (despite that I asked they call me once both are in to save the trip). She just handed me the glasses. I had to ask her if I could try them on and have them adjusted. When I opened the glasses, an arm was very loose. I had to ask if they could fix that screw and she said, "I guess." She came back and said they were fixed but she fixed them with a screw of a different color and it was too long so it stuck out. I told her that I wasn't happy with that and she went away again, only to return with a screw the same color but with a nut at the end of a different color. I told her that I'm not accepting the $350 glasses in that condition. I also asked if they had blue light filters on them and she said no, which was something I specifically asked for and the reason I was buying the new glasses. She said they would have to oder a new pair and to come back once they've been delivered. What was just supposed to be a pick up took 25 minutes. I then came back a few weeks later to pick up the glasses and there was a sign on the door "Closed every other Monday" but didn't say which Mondays. None of those hour changes were on their website either so I had to come back again. All in all, the office is chaos and I'll never go back. read more

Was there for an appointment about 2 weeks ago, first time getting eyeglasses and just received them! The doctor was extremely nice and friendly and she took time to even help out choosing a frame! The tech Joe was welcoming and explained which each machine did. The lady who checked me out was extremely friendly and was super patient with me. Google doesn't really help with finding this location for some reason it takes you behind the building, I would give 5 stars but google didn't help me find easily...but overall loved it. read more

However, the woman working at the front desk, Heather, was extremely unprofessional and condescending when it came to me attempting to provide my insurance information or ask any clarifying questions.
