5 stars all the way! If you're a runner and experiencing some issues this is the place to come. I have been using VFE for about a year now and it has really helped me stay healthy and keep running and racing all year. I ran 4 races last year (3 half marathons and a 30k) and PR'd my half marathon 1:43:17 and took 20 minutes off my 30k time and finished first in my age group. I could not have done this with out the help of VFE. I first came to Rich because of a problem I was having with my hip which caused me to drop out of LA Marathon last year. I was told by a doctor (who is not part of VFE) that I had tendonitis in my hip and should stay off of it. Months went by and I wasn't getting any better and would always feel pain and burning sensations in my hip. I started suspecting that this could be a misdiagnosis.. I knew a few runners who used VFE and saw that they were improving drastically and others who were running 100 mile races sucessfully, so I decided to give VFE a try. ONE SESSION with Rich and I literally ran 12 miles the next day and ran M2B half  marathon two months later without pain.  The last several months I have been going to Tricia Strawn who I would highly recommend. She is a great person and extremely thorough. Even the times when I'm feeling good, She always finds something for me to work on. I highly recommend VFE. I met April at the Rose Bowl about a year ago at a Monday fun run with a local running club. The back of my hip was bothering me and April did her magic! After that I didn't have any issues. After running the L.A. marathon this year, I probably didn't give myself a proper recovery time. So I suffered some injury to my leg calf muscle. I was having some pain in my left knee, which was compromising my workouts. I had never received a sports therapy massage prior to booking an appointment with Jonathan. I was skeptical that a massage would be able to help my knee at all, but I figured why not give it a try. My expectations were far exceeded! Jonathon squeezed me into his schedule the same day. He was very welcoming from the beginning, ensuring that the environment itself was comfortable for me. I met Julio when VFE was giving free demos at a race. I'd been skeptical about getting sports massage, since I'm pretty good at loosening my muscles on my own after running. But after Julio worked on my leg, I realized that I still had a lot to learn. I decided to try out a full session, and found out that I had a lot more tight muscles than I thought, much more than could be fixed with just an hour. Over the course of several 1 hr sessions, he fixed up my tight glutes / shins / IT band / quads, all my leg muscles. My hip flexors (psoas) were always very tight every time I went to see him. Julio figured out that my right glute wasn't firing correctly, and gave me some exercises to strengthen it. I started concentrating on firing my glutes more when running, and miraculously, all sorts of chronic pain and muscle tightness issues started going away! Not only that, I found I could run faster for longer runs, and with less pain. Julio is very knowledgeable, and an all around great guy. Being a fellow runner, he knows particularly well the ins and outs of how to fix up runners' issues. He gives great advice, and tells you what to do in between sessions, too. Thanks to him, I've improved my running gait, resolved longstanding pain & stiffness, and I've become a much better runner. I owe my qualifying for the Boston Marathon at the Tunnel Light marathon all to him! He's also been great with helping fix up some chronic issues w/ back / shoulder / arm pain that I've had for decades, not just sports related problems. I wish I'd gone to see him 25 years ago, because he helped me resolve pain that chiropractors/orthopedists/physical therapists couldn't fix! I still see him every few weeks, to get a tune-up. I started going to a Rich a few years back when my R.A was causing my muscles to stiffen up. I was having a very hard time walking, I was up to 800 milligrams of Ibuprofen per day, my legs were swollen and I had tried all sorts of balms and even tried pool therapy. Nothing seemed to work. It never occurred to me to visit a sports massage therapist till another doctor suggested it. I made an appointment, hobbled my way to his office and for the first time in weeks I finally felt relief and hope that things would get better. It took various sessions before I could walk normal again. It would take several months to start running again. I can't thank Rich enough for helping me get back on my feet. I will forever be in debt with him. Anytime I hear anyone with injuries or pain I always point them in VFE's direction. Rich is my go to guy but he's usually booked a week in advance so don't ever wait last min to book an appointment. I'm so glad to have been introduced to VFE and Chelsea. I never realized how beneficial this type of sports massage/therapy was for my body. Chelsea has hands of gold and recently saved my life after an intense back injury. She was able to loosen all the muscle that tightened up due to the injury. I've been going to VFE and working with Rich on a pretty regular basis for nearly a year now. I was referred to him by another athlete at CrossFit Resistance (his office is located inside) when I started having horrible pain in my low back and hip. I vaguely told Rich where the pain was and he immediately knew what to do and got to work. Though I had not been able to train for about a week, after the first visit I was back to normal training again immediately with no pain and better mobility and range of motion; I also felt like I was walking more evenly. It's because I was ashamed to admit I looked forward to a man rubbing on me. But please don't take that the wrong way. Rich Lorton is that man. All you have to do is point in the area you're feeling pain or discomfort and his magic hands, elbows and forearms will do the rest. He'll even explain to you which muscle he's working on and if it sounds like he's making it up, he's not. He actually really does know the different muscles and how they connect. I was having back pain and when I got on the table ... He had me lay on my back and all I kept thinking was 'Rich, my back is hurting how you gonna get to my back if I'm laying on it?!?' He starting tugging on my psoas ... Yes my PSOAS (Google that shit, I did) and it alleviated the pain. At that point I knew Rich was the real deal. Look him up on FB, call or text him.
