My son has Tourette's and we were in need of glasses fast. He is very rough on them and usually ends up breaking each pair he gets within a few weeks. So we decided to try Visionworks. I couldn't be more impressed. The staff were as friendly and helpful as could be. They did not pressure us in any way to purchase unnecessary things. The gentleman even showed me a wonderful pair of bendable glasses which were just perfect for my son. They were very open to hearing my issues and addressing them right away. The price was not bad at all and as promised, our glasses were ready by 3p.m. the same day. My son was absolutely THRILLED with his new glasses and so was I. I couldn't be happier with the service. Had stopped in before and asked a few questions. Wasn't wowed by the friendliness of the staff, but CPS has this great program with Visionworks for kids this year. I received my voucher and made my appt for my son. I have to say, everything went great. The front staff is not overly friendly but the doctor made up for it. The buy one get one is not a deal because you end up paying for both glasses. They tried charging me 249 dollars for my polycarbonate lenses+ price of glasses plus price of eye exam. I walked away after getting eye exam. Their marketing is a joke. Americas Best is free eye exam and they have a better promo with lenses. If you want to save go elsewhere. Key to shopping for glasses is to ask what they charge for lenses. read more

The Dr. was wonderful - very thorough and efficient. Them the staff helped me pick out frames and also explained in detail what my insurance coverage is. Awful service and would not recommend. Mid December 2012 we dropped off my dads broken eyeglasses for repair, near end of January we couldn't wait any longer so we came in to ask. They made me wait more than 30 minutes just to tell me that the frame they ordered is small for the lens and that they will have to order again. Part of the wait was because they were having problems trying to find the glasses they just put aside in the backroom. Come February I called and was on hold for more than 10 minutes and the silly thing is that they never asked for whom the pickup was for, called again to wait probably another 5 minutes. Answer was "Glasses will be done in around 7 minutes". We gave them about 20-25 minutes, and when we arrived they were just about to put the lens in and that took about 10 minutes. I think the best thing you can have done is an eye exam at any of these optical centers because deals they offer is just to lure you in, but when everything is summed up it will be about triple the amount. Just order glasses online, they're cheaper and they definitely came faster than what we experienced at this place. read more

Great place!!! Love how the staff works together especially how they handle rude customers!!! Some of the customers go in there thinking that they're entitled or want to do walk ins and or take other people's spot just because they dont want to wait or didnt bother make an appointment like the rest of us. In all fairness, I didn't actually get an eye exam or buy contacts or glasses here. I did, however, break my glasses that I got somewhere else. (screw fell out) Since they are just down the street, I called and asked what the charge was if I just needed to get a screw replaced, and even though I told them that I wasn't a patient of theirs, they said stop on by, there is no charge! Both of the women at the desk were sweethearts, and very helpful. All in all, it took about 6 minutes. Also, as a side note, I cannot function without my glasses or contacts, and I was out of contacts when I called them. They got me out of a jam, and I'll definitely be going back next time they run a special for my next exam! read more

Yeah the service here is almost shockingly terrible. I typically don't take to Yelp for these things, but feel like I need to tell other people about my experience since I see that other people have had poor service here as well. So I went in for an eye exam that went well enough, which is the only reason I gave it two stars. I got done with the exam and went to order two sets of frames I had picked out earlier during the appointment. I found the frames on the wall took a seat waiting for one of the sales reps.... and waited. After a half hour I had another appointment to get to. So I asked if I could get a copy of my prescription, pay for the exam, and I would come back another day to order the glasses. The one person who was somewhat helpful apparently was new or an assistant that couldn't place the order for glasses. She wrote in my file the frames I had picked out and tried to cash me out. This took another 15 minutes as she claimed the computer system kept kicking her out. Then it seemed like she printed half of my receipt when she started having problems with the printer. She walked away for help when one of the sales reps came up and cashed out another costumer. When the assistant came back and asked were my receipt was they realized the sales rep had taken the half of mine that got printed out and had this other costumer sign it! Rolling my eyes I paid and left thinking that well everyone is entitled to bad day once in awhile. I was wrong!!! I returned 4 days later to try and place the order again. I spoke with a sales rep who pulled up my file and said that the frames I selected had not been saved in my file. I said that's fine and I could find them again on the wall. I went to go find them and the sales rep went into the back. There was another sales rep helping another person and ignoring me. I stood around for about 5 minutes with the frames in my hand when the sales rep that was helping me returned from the back with her jacket on. She asked if the other sales rep needed anything and then walked out the door!!! This other sales rep then disappeared in back with the costumer he was helping. I stood around for about another 15 minutes with nobody else showing up to help at all. So I left and I won't be back. I really can't remember the last time I ran into such terrible service. read more

I know they are a chain, but, they are in my neighborhood and needing glasses, decided to go in and check them out. They had a great promotion going so decided to take advantage. The selection was great, the eye exam thorough. They answered all my questions without feeling rushed. Had them now for a week and just loved them. I got the mid range lenses and they are great. They give you a copy of your prescription without having to beg. Vision is crisp and clear, the frames fit well and don't fall off my head, lol. Great product, service, price and location. Very friendly and welcoming environment. The sales associate who helped us, Violetta, was very knowledgeable and it was very evident that she wanted to help us get the best deal possible. She made our experience pleasant as she was able to make our daughter excited for her visit even though she's usually very anxious about her visits. I recently went to Visionworks and the customer service was amazing!! Jordan greated us right away and made us feel very comfortable. The Dr saw us at our scheduled time and was very nice and thorough. The facility was extremely clean and had a great and large selection of frames. Jordan and his staff were very friendly and great! I had really high hopes for this place because I actually found frames that I liked and that looked good on my face! However, that was about where the rejoicing ended. Within a few months, the anti-glare coating on my $500 pair of glasses started peeling off. Oddly, it only happened on one lens, which seemed to me (and to the employees at the store) to be a sign of a defect. But they don't cover defects unless you purchase an additional warranty, which no one even mentioned when I was in multiple times to get my glasses. So I'm stuck with admittedly defective lenses whose coating is peeling, and I'm out $500. Great! read more

After coming in for a 9:30am appointment, I waited for 45 minutes without being seen by the optometrist. I asked the front desk for my insurance card back and they couldn't find it. In Jan. 2018, I went to get my eyes checked due to having problems with my current eyeglasses. I knew I was in need of bifocals, but after a bad experience somewhere else, I refused to try wearing bifocals again. But when I went to visionworks, I was encouraged by the doctor to give it a try, if I didn't like it I can always go back to single vision. After taking doctors advice, I was completely satisfied. I was so satisfied that I returned to get 2 more pairs, different styles. Customer service was great and the prices were reasonable. Thanks to visionesworks on 4100 N. I had been getting my glasses from a small boutique in uppity East Lakeview for the last 5 years and was never really impressed with their service but I just blamed it on my insurance company. I didn't know how great the experience of going to get new glasses could be until I set foot in this Visionworks. The company is relatively new to the chicago area, they've been here since 2005 but Lenscrafters and Pearle Vision Look Out! Not only are their prices better but their service is outstanding! From the moment I walked in I was adressed courteously and professionally. The staff was very knowledgeable. If you need an eye exam see Dr. Amy Patel...she's extremely thorough and takes her work very seriously. She saw a potential problem with my optic nerve and immediately recommended an opthalmologist nearby that I could make an appointment with. I waited only one day for my glasses and sunglasses....they have their own lab. I highly recommend their HD lenses. I've never seen things this clearly before. I paid just over $300 for polarized sunglass lenses and frame and their best regular eyeglass lenses with anti-glare coating and frame. I can't say enough about the experience...if you don't mind mostly no name frames made in china and only a few brand name frames then look no further. I highly recommend making an appointment because the place is always packed. read more

Horrid, horrid service. Absolutely disgusting. The eye doctor wanted my records faxed to my primary care physician the next day. Sounds easy, right? Three weeks later we are still waiting. Apparently when a job requires something really difficult ("Ewww, faxing!"), they just don't do it. Heaven knows, there are no customers waiting in line. Oh, and get this: every time I have called back, I get the line, "Well, we can't help it if the people getting the fax throw it out." I'm not kidding. Not making this up. Wish I were. read more

I needed my prescription and they told me that my doctor was out of town on her honeymoon and that I had to wait for her to return in 10 day ... so that she could release my script. I was furious. Wow. If I had read these reviews beforehand, I wouldn't have gone. My experience was completely different from previous reviewers. A Visionworks employee was outside when I arrived and held the door open for me. I was greeted by Sarah, who helped me pick out a bunch of frames to try on. Jasmine helped figure out my insurance and narrow down the selection. The entire time I was treated with kindness and patience. But not only was I treated with respect: every single person who walked through the door was treated noticeably the same way. The selection of glasses is wide and relatively inexpensive; the frames I tried were between $69-$199. Nothing high-end, but still nice. I'll amend this review if the glasses don't hold up or if customer service is any different when I go to pick them up, but I had a five star experience. Management, if you are reading this, know your employees (Sarah, Jasmine and Jordan) are exemplary. read more
