Do NOT judge this place by its negative reviews and overall star rating. My husband and I have used this location multiple times. The staff is extremely courteous and attentive. They work with you to get you the best deals to save you cost. The eye exams run on time, are speedy, and the optometrist is very friendly. My elderly parents went to this facility to pick up a new prescription for glasses. My father kept telling them that these glasses do not feel right. They insisted that he needs to give it time to get used to. He seriously was so frustrated and felt that this could not be. After discussing this with them they realized they gave him the wrong prescription. He seriously thought he was losing his mind! My mom had the same issue a few years back with contacts. Please people think twice before you go here. We gave them another chance and they failed!! My dad almost drove home with the wrong prescription. He could have gotten into an accident!! read more

After having gotten my eyes examined by an ophthalmologist, I went to Visionworks last night to choose some frames and get my prescription filled. Upon entering, I was given a cold greeting by a store associate who offered no assistance with the selection process. At one point while I was standing looking at a display of frames on the wall, she walked right in front of me (causing me to move) and bent over to put some frames in a drawer below the display. She did not even have the common courtesy to say "Excuse me". Approximately an hour later after viewing and trying on "a ton" of glasses (something I really hate doing), I finally had it narrowed down to 4 frames. I asked the "anything but friendly" store associate if she could hold the 4 frames so I could come back today to make a final decision. She reluctantly agreed. She handed me back my prescription and put the frames in a bag. Today I returned to Visionworks and requested to see the frames I had put on hold. Well, much to my dismay, the bag and frames that I had spent so much time choosing weren't there! Only a bag with the name "Steve" was there. An associate told me that someone had probably "cleaned up" and put the frames back but that there must not have been a name or note on the bag. The rude associate from the night before knew it had taken me a long time to choose those frames but couldn't be bothered to put my name (which had been on the prescription) or even attach a note to it. And surely she knows the associates routinely put frames back on display. After spending a couple minutes looking for the frames, I realized it was like looking for 4 needles in a haystack. Today's associate said "I'm sorry", but it was obvious she couldn't care less and wasn't even willing to check with the other associates to see if any of them put the frames back and, if so, if they could by chance remember where they put them. Needless to say, I'll be getting my frames elsewhere. read more

Save your time and money and NEVER go to this vision works. If you want to use Vision works the one in Orland Park is 100% better. Staff is Very rude and the eye doctor is very arrogant and does not listen. We made two attempts to get lenses corrected at this location and ultimately had to go to Orland Park to get the correct lens/prescription. Mind you our out of pocket portion for the glasses was over $500 so to expect better service is not over the top. Our experience was so bad that I am contacting the corporate office to give them the details of this horrible experience. read more

I got my glasses here last year and liked the glasses I got there. This time I brought my husband so he could get an exam and glasses. Our optometrist was friendly and quick at getting us our prescription. The trouble started when we were paying. The woman who helped us was actually the manager. I had spoken to her and another worker a few days prior and she told me that our insurance covered everything. However while we were checking out she told us that the cost was $130 because we exceeded our lens allowance. She said our lens allowance was $200. We paid and left puzzled. When we got home I called my insurance VSP, to confirm what they told us at visionworks. However she did not confirm it. "You do NOT have a lens allowance, you will only be charged for extras." I looked at my receipt again. $110 was for ClearShield UV. I called visionworks and asked why we paid so much extra! She restated that we went over our lens allowance. I told her that we didn't have a lens allowance but it looked like we had been charged for the premium anti-glare. She put me on hold. When she came back on the line she said that only $60 was for anti-glare and $50 was my insurance copayment. I then told her that my insurance didn't have a copay. She paused and then said..."it's for your visionworks copay." Visionworks doesn't have a copayment. I promptly cancelled my glasses order. I don't appreciate dishonesty as a sales technique. She didn't offer an apology for all the deception when I went in for my refund. I wouldn't go to the Tinely Park location. If you choose to go to this location, bring in a printout of your benefits so you're not forced to pay for extras. read more

As a former employee in the health insurance field, I am versed in finding out whether or not a provider is covered under our insurance plan. I checked our plan's website - yep, Visionworks was listed. I called Visionworks and asked if they took BCBS insurance - yep, they did. Even their website states they honor our insurance plan. After getting my eyeglass/contact exam, I was told the amount was vastly higher than the $30 copay which is part of our benefit plan. I pointed this out and was told they only take vision insurance, not medical insurance so I get the exams, frames and contacts at a discounted rate, not what my plan covers. After numerous calls to the insurance company, the resolution was that Visionworks shouldn't be one of their Preferred Providers as they aren't holding up their end of the contract by not doing medical billing and that I was to pay for my exam and submit a claim to my insurance company who will reimburse me and then fight it out with Visionworks. If you intend on using this place, triple check what it will cost you PRIOR to your exam not after. Specifically know whether your vision is covered under your medical insurance or a separate vision coverage and have the staff verify what the charges will be. Did not appreciate the dodgy marketing tactics leading one to believe ALL BCBS plans were covered. read more

Do yourself a favor for better service find another store to spend your money at.. Also, don't believe the great reviews that some folks have given this store.. Being a paying customer I can tell you that you'd be better served in Orland Park store or some other Retailer. The doctors visit was fine but getting the actual product was a total pain and we had to go back several times to get it right. They gave me a set of used frames when I specifically asked for new ones and when I went back to have them replaced they gave me the same frames only they had been tightened up and adjusted. For sure I will not be going back to this store or let any of my family go back. Totally bummed.. read more

I wish I had read the reviews before I went. This was a terrible experience. First, I had trouble with finding out about my insurance. It took an over an hour trying to figure out my insurance. They told me they took my insurance which was a lie because after I had the exam they said it was 10% off. I saved 9$. I could have gone to Costco and it would have been 20$ cheaper without insurance. The eye exam was less than 15 minutes gave me same prescription I came in with. Then gave me trial contacts but only had one eye so gave me a different one brand for the other eye and said see how you like them and we can order them. I asked about getting a trial that was the same for both eyes. They said that they called another store and they could get me trial contacts. Went to the store to pick them up and they knew nothing about it and didn't even carry the ones I needed. The whole experience was terrible. I would go someplace else. I went to Vision works because my insurance told me to. When I went for my appt, they told me they couldn't get a hold of the insurance and had never heard of Superior vision but they would give me a better deal.. The Dr was very good and when I went to pick out my glasses no one helped me... I finally picked out a pair and a lady took my measurements and told me the charge would be almost $500.00,, I said WHAT??? then she said well let me look, ok I will charge you $139.00 for glasses and $140.00 for each lens.. total $300.58 with everything... this was 11/14/18 picked up glasses 11/22/18 told the girl they made me dizzy and she said you have to wear them and get used to them.. I am 75 yrs old... One lens was real thick and looked terrible while the other lens was thinner but was made with cheap poly plastic and they didn't even trip them good... On Nov 1 I took them back, The guy was very rude with me, but said they would redo them and make them thinner... Today 11/14/18 I picked them up from the redo, and nothing was different, looked the same and fit the same .. For $300.00 you would think you could get good fitting glasses... I asked for my money back, just called my insurance and told them to never send patients there and told them my experience!! I will never go there again!!! read more

Found my experience here a bit frustrating. No one was rude, and it was a generally pleasant experience, but I asked about the price when I made the appointment, and I asked about the price when I came in for the appointment, and I asked about the price during the appointment, and yet somehow they tried to charge me over $400 for "A little more than $20" exam and "About $50" box of contacts. Be prepared to sit through a fairly high pressure sales pitch. I have a VERY strong prescription. After insurance,my glasses still run about 3 to 4 hundred dollars due to my opting to purchase the thinnest lenses. This is anywhere I go, so I have no issue there. Where I have issue is the high pressure from staff to add other options I don't want. On my most recent visit, the employee calculated the cost of the glasses for all the options she tried to sell me despite me saying no to each. Essentially she would recommend something, I would decline it and then she would continue to speak about the alleged benefits and proceed to tell me how much it would cost. Aside from adding a lot of unnecessary time to the visit it adds a lot of confusion to the process as she was constantly adding items to the bill only to have to subtract them later. She became confused and had to redo the total over three or four times to get it right. The glasses were a disaster. I could literally slide plastic straw between the lense and frame. The fit was just ok and but the lenses were unevenly inserted and not flush against the frame. This made of uneven sight out of the glasses. They remade them and they were better but still, it was a horrible experience. read more

If I could give them a minus I would. They have no customer care skills at all. They try to keep me from getting my child's eye records and said I have to pay for a new eye exam. That's again the law for them to do that. I talk to the manger about it and she give me the records but she gave me attitude about it. read more

This store does not care about customer service and I would definitely not return to a store with such a rude person at the front desk. I bought a pair of glasses and after just 1 year the frame broke. As soon as I walked into the store with my receipt in hand, the person at the desk (who wouldn't even look at the receipt) looked up online and said "The prescription has expired." I had already told her it was the frame that broke and not the lens and that it was only 13 months since I bought them. Without even looking at what was wrong she said (with an attitude) you can order a new frame. A person with manners would have at the very least said "Sorry" or something polite. But as others have stated she acted as though I was an inconvenience and she couldn't be bothered even though no customers were in the store at the time. P.S. My husband fixed it with some glue. read more
