I'm relatively new to Sherman Oaks, and after a week in which I broke both my regular pair of glasses and my back-up pair, I needed to find a place to repair them -- glasses I wear all the time. I called numerous places and visited three. The first two flatly said that if I didn't buy my glasses from them they could not/would not help me. They were abrupt and had attitude, and I will never return to either place, even if the glasses are free. Then I went to Visualeyes Optometry. It was a different experience immediately. Beautiful shop, and the people could not have been nicer or more helpful. Dr. Dodge, the owner/optometrist came out to chat, took my glasses and fixed them both at no charge. I was stunned. It was a Friday, late in the afternoon, and I was treated like the best customer ever, by nice, capable people who care -- really care. A great way to end the week. And a great place to get your eyes checked and buy glasses. The selection was incredible, btw. I will be back when I next need an eye exam or glasses. Dr. Dodge is great guy. Real. Friendly. Excellent!! I took myself and my son to get eye exams and glasses. The staff was very nice and caring and the Dr. was also. The Dr. made it very kid friendly for my son and my son was very comfortable. He was also great at explaining things.. I came here a couple years ago for the first time. I see Dr. Lee Dodge. The staff is always friendly and helpful, you don't have to wait long when you have an appointment, and Dr. Dodge is super nice. He doesn't make you feel rushed but gets you in and out and gets everything done in a timely manner as well. I've had frames that I bought online fitted here, the staff doesn't mind heating them for you if they need to be tighter on your face. I also hadn't worn contacts in years until I came here. Since I used to have such a bad time with other types of contacts, the Dr. referred me to the Daily contacts which are super thin and disposable so you wear a new pair every day and throw them away, don't have to deal with cleaning or storing them which I LOVE. I was never a everyday contact wear-er until I found these that actually work for me. When I call to order re-fills of contacts the staff calls me right away as soon as they're in stock and leave a voicemail. read more

I love this place! The people here are so nice and helpful. They even had coffee and fresh baked cookies! The staff was extremely patient and helped me find the perfect glasses (which took forever). I have been going to other optometrists every year and they couldn't figure out why I have so much trouble with contacts. Dr. Lee Dodge right away told me that it's because I have eye allergies! He was so friendly and even went above and beyond helping me find a prescription that my insurance covered. I needed to get my magnification glasses repaired because they weren't fitting me properly. As I was on my way to Visualeyes, I saw Lens Crafters. I stopped into Lens Crafters thinking, "Oh, maybe they can fix them here" Lens Crafters took one look at my glasses and couldn't figure out how to repair them. So I continued onto Visualeyes. I was greeted with a friendly smile. I told her what I needed done and she took my glasses over to Jim. Jim was so helpful. Not only did he take the time to figure out how to repair my magnification glasses, he didn't even charge me for it. I was so happy, because they are not your average pair of glasses. I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Dodge for the past 10 years (at least!) He is absolutely wonderful. He's patient and kind as well as professional and incredibly knowledgable. He keeps up on the latest lenses. That's contact and glasses lenses both! But he doesn't charge an arm and a leg for the thinnest, lightest, most scratch resistant...which we know how important that is to those of us that can't see! Oh, and definitely spring for the anti-glare coating. His is the best and comes with a warranty. When it comes to his exams, I never feel rushed. Sometimes I need to see if one or two is better a couple of times. ;) He has a piece of equipment that will take a picture of my retina without the need for dilation. No more temporary blindness and oversized sunglasses. Woohoo! All silliness aside, my favorite thing about Dr. Dodge is his work in the community. He donates a tremendous amount of his time to The Gift of Sight foundation and mentoring optometry students. There are pictures around the office of his missions to help those less fortunate see and there have been several times I've been in the office when a future optometrist is there shadowing him and even doing some of the pretesting. I'm honored to be a member of a practice dedicated to wellness in the community and abroad. Dr. Dodge is just as exceptional a humanitarian as he is an optometrist. I can't imagine it getting much better than this - a clean office with lots of new equipment, a helpful and thorough doctor who is also funny and easygoing, and a staff who seem to be handpicked for their friendliness and warmth. This office has to be seen to be believed (see what I did there?). Maddie and the staff are awesome at what they do. Actually 6 stars. Dr. Dodge is amazing. I have been shuffled around to about 9 different eye doctors over the last 2 years and never got a real solution to my issues and my vision continued to decline. I was anxious and worried about my eyes all the time. But now that I found Visualeyes I have a clear solution, prescription, and plan to solve my issues. I feel so well taken care of. I had been going to my eye doctor for about five years. I had decided that I should try a new eye doctor because every time I went to my eye doctor and got my eyes dilated, it literally would take me 4-5 hours to see normal again. All my friends suggested that there was something wrong with that picture so I decided to go to a different doctor. I found Doctor Dodge and decided to check him out. As I walked in, I was greeted so graciously by Brenda. She asked for my name and as soon as she found out I was a new patient, she said "You're a new patient, welcome" I filled out some paperwork and the doctor saw me shortly. He is actually a really funny guy. He makes the visit very comforting. He explained everything he was doing and the why behind it which is something that I really like. He went over the results unlike my last doctor. I had discussed my concerns regarding my eyes being dilated and he assured me that it would not happen. Sure enough it didn't. I was seriously shocked. I couldn't help but ask why it wasn't as bad as before. He began to explain that some doctors choose to put multiple drops so the eyes can get dilated real quickly to get you in and out and sure enough, he was right. I got my normal vision back within an hour and a half. When it came time to pay, the gentleman was extremely kind and welcoming. Both of the employees introduced themselves and wished me a very nice day and asked me to call if I had any questions and concerns. I strongly recommend him to anyone out there who is looking for a real good eye doctor. I now know that I will be going to him from this point on.
