Not sure if I should tell everyone that this is my favorite Vitalant location...but I'll do it anyway. The staff here are excellent- friendly, fast, and great at their jobs. The care provided is safe and quality. But really -- the snack area is legit. Lol. I always grab my favorites after giving blood. And the place is immaculate & clean. The parking is super easy- they even have covered spots for donors. Which is a baller move during the summer. Anyway, Vitalant is my blood donation organization that I go to 3-4 times a year. Never had any issues here and I really like the donor appreciation program to get points and redeem for gift cards. If doing something good for other humans, isn't enough incentive, the points and snacks can help. They always need donors, I have the universal donor type so I get hit up regularly and happy to do it. read more

On Wednesday November 14th I had appointment with Vitalant in Payson Arizona. Payson is a small conservative community where Vitalant provides a satellite donation service once per month. Upon arrival I was greeted by a young man with shoulder length hair wearing women's makeup including bright red lip stick and multi-colored eye shadow. This person was also wearing a leopard pattern leotard and women's pink running shoes. The first question I was asked, "are you hear to make a blood donation and I replied, Yes I have an appointment. This person replied, great I'll be assisting you today. I then replied, No thank you I would prefer someone else and was then told, "No I'll be assisting you today." Reluctantly I sat down with this person. I was then asked, what will you be donating today and I replied "Blood." I was then asked, whole blood? I replied, is there another kind? I received no explanation and was then told that I would need to have my hemoglobin checked and we would be using my ring finger. I contested explaining that I wasn't willing to use my ring finger due to occupational reasons and that my index finger was available or my thumb. I was sarcastically informed that my ring finger was my only option and if I wasn't willing to comply then I would not be donating blood today. I then requested that a supervisor be summonsed and in a disrespectful fashion this Freak Show tells me that would not be possible. I then stood up and departed the premises. How Disrespectful for Vitalant to come to the American Legion Hall in a small conservative town and blatantly display this WOKE Shit Show of Contempt for Honorable Military Combat Veterans who were sponsoring this event. I too am a Viet Nam Veteran of the First Army Aircorp and a practicing Physician for 34 years and I am appalled with this CRAP !!! I will Never donate anything to Vitalant again !!! This is a friendly little place where you can donate whole blood, plasma, or platelets. I have been donating for the past few weeks and on the whole, it's a very pleasant experience. You must wear a mask and you cannot go inside until they come out and get you. Before you go in they take your temperature. Then you answer a bunch of questions to make sure you're good to donate and then you sit down and you donate. The time depends upon what you're giving and how easy it is to get it from you. It takes me about two hours to get platelets but I don't care about the time. I love that they give you snacks and you can sit there and eat junk food while you're doing a good deed. The people who work at this office are extremely friendly and they compliment you a lot for coming in to give. I like them all. The most important thing is that you are giving life-sustaining blood to someone who really needs it. No one can buy blood; it must be donated. So I really like the feeling I get when I know someone is going to be helped by my blood. It makes me feel like I'm doing something. read more

My experience here was not good. First, after arriving plenty early to allow for more paperwork, it was about 30 minutes past appointment before I was called. Second, I think the place was dirty, especially the floor. Third, the employees seemed uninformed about how the apparatus functioned for platelet donation with only one needle for both sample and return, and totally clueless regarding interpretation of the antibody test results. My brother and I donate whole blood on a regular basis, so the staff knows us now. It's a great facility tucked away in a business area and it's close to home, which is convenient. Bonnie at the front desk is so wonderful and kind, and she's great at her job. Always schedules us for our next appointment and makes sure we're doing okay. The phlebotomists are professional and fun to chat with. Kathy and Kellene are two that I normally get and today Vincent took my blood, nice guy. Doesn't take long to donate, the actual blood draw only took 6 minutes. Tip: do the fast pass health questionnaire before you go in (same day) and save time. Make sure you eat breakfast and hydrate, and they always have plenty of snacks and drinks available. Popcorn and cookies are my go to snacks. Clean, open facility, super staff, and the satisfaction of helping others makes this a 5 star place to be. Donate if you can! read more

I figured since i have the time i would leave a review. At first i was hesitant because of some previous reviews, but most people only take time to leave bad reviews for almost every business I've noticed. I personally had a great experience and the five or so other people appear happy and in good spirits staff was friendly and accommodating and the facilities are clean. Vitalant promises you tickets, gift cards etc... I was hesitant to donate blood during the height of the covid pandemic. They offered two AZ Coyotes tickets for all blood donors at the Gila River Arena in April of 2020. Never received the promised tickets. I did receive an email if I purchased one ticket for over $100 I would receive 1 free. This was not the deal offered. Now they will not stop sending emails, text and phone calls. read more

This is definitely a superior location for blood donations! The staff is extremely friendly and warm to every donor while moving quickly through the process so that they stay aware of your time. I usually scheduled an early morning donation so that I can go before work and I have never had a problem getting to work on time with their efficiency and consistency. Bonnie at the front counter is amazing and always seems to be in a good mood and Kollene (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong - sorry!) is great from the needle stick to the end where she invites you to the waiting table for snacks. If you are looking for a place to donate blood - or if you are nervous about that you can always volunteer for a drive or donate money if you feel so inclined - this is the place to do it! UBS is always good to it's people and this place is no different. I have always donated whole blood but recently decided to start donating platelets. This location was the first place to help me in my new endeavor. Parking is a little odd and that is about the only thing I can say. Parking is out front under covered parking. Yes, covered parking. Look for the "UBS" parking blocks - there is maybe 6 of them. I parked in the rear in assuming that covered parking was for employees, not guests. Get out there and donate folks! read more

Went to donate blood a few weeks ago and they asked if I could donate the platelets which they were in need of. The process takes longer than donating blood, but it worth my time. The process was efficient and the staff was professional. I was comfortable and was monitored the entire process. I wrote a review on Monday, April 22, 2019 about a horrible experience I had donating plasma with this company on Thursday, April 18, 2019. For some reason, my review has been deleted. I am going to repost. I have donated blood with this company 2 times prior and have not had any negative experiences but this time was different. This time, about 20 minutes into a 110 minute procedure, something went wrong and the needle must have somehow pulled out of my vein. I was very careful to follow the instructions that I was given in the beginning to not move that arm and had kept it very very still. The return fluids did not go into my vein, but into my arm. My arm got super puffy and swollen and it was very painful. I immediately asked for help and began to get very dizzy and to feel very faint. Someone did come right over immediately and said in "alright, you're done". And took the needle out of my arm. I still felt like I was going to faint and was in that weird space where you feel like you're going to pass out but haven't quite yet, where you can still hear and feel but you can't really see or move. I was asked to put pressure on the puncture wound from the needle but was unable to move. The clinicians were pressing on the swelling on my arm and saying things like, "is she talking to Elvis", and asking me questions that implied what had happened was my fault like, "did you lean on that arm" "did you move your arm", "did you eat breakfast" (like eating breakfast would have made a bit of difference.) She also grabbed the donation bag, shook it in front of my face and said, "This is all we got and it's completely unusable". I have no idea how long I was down, I never completely lost consciousness but was really not doing well. Finally, I sat up as no one was paying any attention to me and at that point I just wanted to go home. Someone did ask me if I was feeling ok at that point. After a few minutes I stood up and walked out. Again, someone asked me if I was ok standing, but no one gave me any instructions on how to care for my arm or what to expect. My arm was swollen for the entire weekend. It was so sore I could barely lift it. I was dizzy and lightheaded all Easter weekend. This was a horrible experience for me and completely unacceptable. I understand that medicine is not an exact science and things happen but the complete lack of care and concern for my physical AND emotional health and well-being was startling and completely unacceptable. Please be aware that donating blood can and at times does cause very alarming consequences. It was a week yesterday that I had this experience. My arm is profoundly bruised and still sore. The whole weekend, I was dizzy and did not feel well. I did contact Vitalant to get instructions that should have been given to me at the time my donation and the person on the phone was very kind and polite. After my first review was posted, I was contacted right away and they turfed my complaint to the site manager who told me my experience would be used as a "training opportunity". And then my review was somehow deleted. So here I am posting it again. I was also told that they hoped this wouldn't deter me from donating in the future. This really was an awful experience for me and I feel like it needs to be shared. This time, I saved my review so I don't have to completely rewrite it when it's deleted. read more

Been here multiple times over the years to donate whole blood and platelets when possible. Unfortunately the last few times it's apparent that appointment times are merely a suggestion. Final straw today with an appointment time of 11:00 and arriving early, at 11:40 still in the waiting area. Given the fact that platelet donations are typically 1+ - 2 hours, plus travel time, 40 minutes RT, I can't volunteer 3 hours of time with other commitments. I have been to several locations around town, I donate about 4-5 times year. Like when I get a hair cut I just wake up one morning and decide that I want to donate blood, so finding an appointment right away is key. This location always answers the phone and usually has something available for the time I would like. It is a smaller office, tucked back in the Scottsdale Airpark area near Costco, so most don't know it is there. The man that greats you when you walk in is always nice and usually remembers my name. I never have to wait too long, but if I do the waiting room is clean and has plenty of reading material to keep me occupied for a few minutes. In comparison to other places that have been messy, unfriendly and creepy at times this one is top notch. The phlebotomy staff is very nice and understanding and helps to make you as comfortable as possible. Sticking a needle in ones arm isn't the most desirable thing to do, well that all depends on who you are and what is in the needle I guess haha, but for donating blood they are the best at making it easy. They do several types of blood donation; whole blood (most common), plasma, platelets and red blood cells. Go donate some blood, it will make you feel better and might save someones life! :-) Think about it! read more

Instead, I donate money and support their fundraisers to help generate the funds that are necessary to administer blood drives. United Blood Services does a great job of community outreach and provides a valuable resource to help increase the blood supply. Their staff is very friendly and helps assist people who want to put together their blood drive events. They'll send information packets and will also provide resources on site to help organizers execute the day of the drive. Their fundraiser events are also very fun and informative. I donate blood every 8 weeks and I wouldn't go anywhere else but here (I drive from Tempe... it's that good). Bonnie, at the front desk, might be the nicest person that I've ever met. She's never not smiling. In the 1.5+ years that I've been coming, I haven't had one bad phlebotomist experience or even a bruise on my arm - that's pretty amazing in my book. The entire staff makes the experience enjoyable which is a tough thing to do when you're getting stuck with a needle. On top of that, they have a popcorn machine. Not into popcorn? I was to donate blood during a blood drive. While waiting in donation chair I was observing the technicians. I declined to donate because I did not observe the technicians cleaning their hands between donors. Even though they may have had gloves on they still should use a cleaning gel or wash before touching a different donor. I did bring my concerns to supervisor on site. Someone was to call me. It is now over 2 weeks and no one has called me. I will not donate with this company again if they can't practice good hand hygiene which is basic healthcare principles. read more
