I am baffled at how this has such good ratings. We came in for a late lunch and waited 45 minutes for our food. When it finally came out it wasn't anything like what we had ordered. Passing by this place last evening on our way to the (familiar) jewish deli down the road, I noticed, as co-pilot, the lights were on inside this place. Lucky for us! When we arrived at our destination down the road, they were already closed (even though it was just after 9pm and their Yelp page details said they were open until 10pm). We turned and went back the way we came from to go to this place. Just ahead of us, a man bounded up the steps and into the bistro. We followed him inside. There was just one customer sitting at the counter facing the street who seemed contented with his laptop. The place was quiet - no music or anything. We walked up to the counter and the man who came in just before us was behind the counter to greet us. We each ordered a panini - his the salmon & veggie, mine the tuna melt. Each one came with a side of their Israeli salad so there was no need to order a side of their salad. After we ordered and paid, I noticed their sign for "soup of the day - lentil" and inquired about it. The man offered me a sample and half-filled a coffee cup with it, then placed it on top of a napkin on top of a saucer and set a soup spoon on saucer and handed to me. On first taste, it had a smokiness to it - and there were carrots & potatoes evident. I liked its mildness and complimented the man. He offered me a full cup with his compliments (on the house) and I gladly accepted. This certainly was a pleasant, warm introduction to a meal. After ordering and before we sat ourselves down, we meandered around the room admiring the beautiful scenes depicted in the international posters placed all over their walls. A little while later, plates of sandwiches and salads were delivered to our table and we tucked right in. Because their menu reads "tuna melt", and I'm familiar with a melt that has cheese, I commented to my companion that there did not seem to be any cheese on my "melt". He said that because this place is kosher, they'll not serve any dairy with meat/fish. Oh my! With or without cheese, my tuna melt panini (in a fresh pita bread) was amazing! How delicious and fresh everything was. How satisfying! After we finished eating, we talked with the woman who had prepared our food and thanked her for making us such delicious and colorful (the salad) food. As we left, we noted that they close at 9pm. I guess we really got lucky this time because we arrived around 9:10pm and left about an hour later. When I woke up this morning, my mind went right back to how GOOD the food was here and I am eager to get back there again soon! I wish I lived closer to it. read more

WOW. Vitali's delivered today to my office via Foodsby, and I am blown away. I ordered the baked falafel sandwich with veggies, with the Korean carrot salad and Israeli salad on the side, followed by a cinnamon sugar crepe. The sandwich was just amazing, I can't rave enough about it. Perfectly yummy. The salads were refreshing on the side (the carrot salad is not spicy as the menu indicates, it ranks below a mild). I'm eating the crepe right now and was so excited by how good everything is that I started writing the review before I even finished eating. Been here a couple of times with friends, and what a great cafe. Their crepes are very good, as other reviews have noted. My SO got a falafel burger last time we were there and said it was one of the best he'd had. Overall, Vitali's has a cozy, welcoming neighborhood bistro, and I would definitely recommend stopping in. read more

Oy vey! This place is not very enjoyable at all. The staff seems a bit on the grim side and disinterested in service if you're not wearing a yarmulka, the asethetics are cold and uninviting, the decor forced and amateurish, the furniture cheap, uncomfortable and poorly arranged. I've only had coffee and tea at this establishment and it was adequate in quality and selection and fair in price. The location is a also bit forlorn: in a quasi-strip mall next to a vacant tattoo removal business and a SNAP fitness location. Parking and getting in & out can be a bit tight as well. Saturday hours: beware! I think it's closed for most of the day and maybe doesn't open until 9:00 p.m. as it adheres to Orthodox practices regarding the Sabbath. This review pains me as Vitali's seems to want to cater to the Jewish crowd and many times I've gone there and enjoyed fun singing and conversation arising from the large table up front, but overall it's not a place I'd recommend visiting unless you've run out of other options or are simply curious. It survived the long closure of the Minnetonka Boulevard bridge which pinched drive-by traffic for many months, but if competition arises, it'll have to adapt or will likely not survive. read more

We were in town visiting and needed a Kosher restaurant and my MIL kept raving about this place. If you are going to order out and do it online DON'T. The whole experience was a nightmare. After I ordered and paid online, I got a call saying they didn't have lettuce or soup (at 4:00). Then after I changed the order she could not tell me if I paid correctly or not and kept telling me its not her fault, it's a third party and I should have called the restaurant (which I usually do, lessoned learned). In the end I have no idea if I paid correctly and have to chase down this third party to get a receipt and the food was not that good, especially for what we paid for. I am happy for SLP park that they have a Kosher option, but it needs a lot of work for us to come back. read more

Note this rating is for people with gluten or special dietary needs. I was very disappointed with this place. I have a gluten intolerance and wrongly assumed since they had an item labeled gluten free that they would understand what that meant. After ordering the Greek salad and attempting to confirm that i had a gluten intolerance and make sure there were no crutons. Definitely a language barrier. She didn't understand enough English to be able to help with my dietary restrictions. She went in the back made my salad and added crutons. After having waited 15 minutes for this salad it was very disappointing. When I tried to explain she just took the crutons off. So no understanding of gluten issues at all. Avoid if you have any dietary restrictions. The only good thing about this place was that everything seemed to be made from scratch. It could have been great but the communication issue turned this experience very sour. read more

Unbelievably delicious food. Tastes like its homemade, but in a way that you could never do yourself. The breakfast burrito; which is available all day, comes with a delicious sauce, and is delicious to the point where its hard to try anything else because I want to order it every time I come in. Kinda slow service, hence 4 out of 5 stars, but worth the wait, the food is great! Wow! I just read the reviews Most are 5 star but I was sorry to see a number of one star reviews, although many of those are older. I have been eating there since they opened. They have had their share of staffing issues but have always tried to make things right if Vitali, the owner, was told of them. To set some comments straight, nothing is deep fried there, fish doesn't come out of a can except for the tuna, and most everything is made fresh to order, which, depending on the item, may account at times for things taking a little longer, especially when they are crowded or having just gotten an order for 25 pizzas to be picked, liked happened to me a couple of nights ago. They even make their own falafel, humus, techina and their own version of Nutella. Vitali's philosophy seems be to try to make as much of his food from scratch and make it healthier and better. I think the taste proves he's right. He says most of his recipes are his own. It took a while but they seem to have finally worked out good staffing and the orders are coming out in reasonable time. I haven't ever had a bad meal there but I have had many great ones, especially when Vitali decides to experiment with some new ideas. The one thing that I find is inconsistent is the availability of his fresh-made baked goods, including some fantastic gluten-free ones. One other thing I'll mention is you can have variations (have it your way) of his items and even make some off menu requests. He'll gladly accommodate when possible. Great food that's healthy at great prices. I suggest those one star raters should check it out again. Even the million dollar pros will tell you they can have an off day but they return to earn their millions. Oh yes, and then there's the late Saturday night music. My wife and I were super excited to try this place due to all the great reviews. We went for dinner and the place was very nice and cozy, but once we tried the food we were extremely disappointed. I have been to Israel and had a lot of kosher food and this was just plain bad. I had the salmon and veggie crepe and I am 99% sure the salmon was out of a can (it was white in color and tasted extremely fishy). We really don't understand how this received so many great reviews. We are contemplating going back for breakfast but not sure that we will take the risk. read more

New Kosher dairy restaurant. Nice cozy atmosphere, nice decor, comfortable seating in a variety of ways, from easy chairs with a small table between, to dining chairs with a larger table, near the fireplace, near many windows, or it looks like they have a nice patio that will be set up outside for the summer. Kind of a combination of a coffee house and cozy restaurant. Friendly service, order at the counter. But the best part is the AMAZING food! The Korean Carrot salad was so good I had to buy a pound of it and bring it home. About 7-11 dollars for a sandwich, 5-10 dollars for a salad, and you definitely get your money's worth. I had the Tuna Melt panini and it came on a cheery colorful plate, nice presentation with a small helping of the Korean Carrot salad on the side. My friend had the same and also a fruit crepe. Both were fresh, delicious, healthful with a few extra veggies in the sandwich, did I mention delicious? And to drink I had a fresh squeezed on site grapefruit juice, AMAZINGLY fresh & delicious! I walked past a couple who looked like they were eating perhaps the Tomato, Avocado, Onion Salad, and it looked Yummy! I understand they have live music Saturday nights, and I intend to go back and listen and try more of the menu. This is a nice little place but it is not very "French". I was looking for an authentic creperie. That said, the food was okay. We had the cheese omelette in a crepe. It came with a nice side of a fresh tasting Israeli salad. But the eggs were overdone and the cheese was plain Jane mozzarella. Not even fresh mozzarella, I mean pizza cheese. No salt or pepper. I was unaware when ordering that I could have added the curried veggies, which are a house speciality and seem to be everywhere on the menu. The server didn't ask either. In fact, I was given a plain cheese omelette at first until I corrected the error. They gave me a fresh omelette with the crepe wrapped around it. The crepe was good but nothing to write home about. With five stars on yelp, I expected something more . My daughter got the salmon crepe, which was much more interesting, despite the very fishy taste of the salmon. We had a latte and a cappuccino, which were nice but not outstanding. We then had the "newtella" crepe and the Apple and feta crepe. My daughter loved the newtella one. I thought it was very sweet, but tasty. Again it was very plain. Maybe some fresh fruit in it or with it might cut the sweetness. My favorite thing I ate there the whole meal was the apple feta crepe. The apple was shredded and combined with feta, then wrapped in a crepe and topped with powdered sugar and a drizzle of honey. It was not too sweet and just delicious. Perfect. Next time I will make crepes at home though. It was simple and straightforward. Not worth the trip or the price I thought. My daughter asked to go have crepes for a school project. It was not authentic or typical, but at least she got an idea of what crepes are about for future adventures. read more
