I wanted to like it, but the croissant bread was dense and not super flavorful (update: it got a little better once I hit the cholate section) but was still not my fave. There were only 2 people working to take orders and make drinks at 9:30 am, so it took a long time to get our order, even though there were only two people on line ahead of us. My flavored latte was ok (I got the monthly special) , but it didn't come out very hot and I thought it was licking in the flavor. This is a take-away place, do not expect to sit down inside (at least on the second floor). The first floor offers smoothies but no food. I would go back to try some of the other baked goods, but on this trip, just 3 stars. read more

Love a good locally-owned coffeehouse. Stopped in on a Friday afternoon when the Skyways were empty, and I found MD very welcoming. This is due to the barista, David - wonderful guy. Friendly and fast. He produced an Americano in seconds, and it was quite tasty, as was the Tuna Sandwich. I later had the house dark roast - fine, but not great brewed coffee. I'd suggest MD consider offering V60 or some kind of pourover simply for better tasting coffee. Regardless, it's a fantastic space and a real highlight in that part of the skyway system (Capella Tower). read more

Had the chicken couscous salad and the cinnamon roll. Salad was recommended by the server. I can tell the salad was NOT fresh, probably from the day before. Chicken was super dry and the sauce or dressing was too thick to have any flavor. Veggies are not fresh...terrible! Cinnamon roll was good lighter side with great frosting. Has a croissant texture/ flaky. Only problem is the price...almost 8$ bucks after taxes. Absurd! read more

Got a variety of things just to try it out and I loved it. I have baked for a long time and my grandma was a French baker as well. I make my own French bread, brioche, and baguettes all the time. So I am very critical on breads and as I thought it was lovely. Fhima's for me is always quality goods. Bread is reasonably priced, however the croissants are a little overpriced. Everything was delicious as always. The ambiance is a cute, quant, and nicely decorated. The staff was ok they were not the most polite and was a little disappointed in the eye roll I got when asking if the breads change or are the three options always the same. She said I don't know and nothing else. I hope they keep this line up as the sourdough is definitely something I would like to try. Overall I wanted to give 5 as I always do with Fhima's, however I am used to great service on top of great food. That unfortunately fell a bit short in this case and I know would not be up to Fhima's high standards of food and service. read more

I've been going to Mother Dough every once in a while. I will say every time I do I am not truly wowed. It has a cute vibe when you enter and the workers are nice, but the drinks aren't that good. I try to have something new each time to see if it was just that drink, but overall I'm not too impressed. I love the atmosphere of it, though, and the Capella Tower is gorgeous! Also, it's nice to have a discount if you work in the building too. So a nice initiative to go! read more

Poor excuse for a bakery, much less a French one. Pastries not fresh at all and were soggy. The one pictured was clearly 1-2 days old, not crispy at all. The croissants the family ordered were not flaky, also underwhelming. How is this place even in business still in a city like MSP? Hardly anything in the case for a bakery on a weekday morning. On my quest to keep trying places when I'm working downtown I came across Mother Dough while looking for a new breakfast place. This place is beautiful, the decor and vibe of the whole place is immaculate and gorgeous. For that alone I'd give them 5 stars! When I arrived it was pretty busy but the line went fast, the staff was patient while I ordered and answered questions as I had them. Food came out pretty quickly and it did not disappoint. My only complaint was the price point. I know things are getting higher in price (especially downtown) but this felt a bit above what I'd feel comfortable paying every week. Which was a bummer as I really enjoyed my experience otherwise. I'll save it for a nice treat every once in a while but alas won't be in my regular rotation. I would still recommend, just know it'll be more than you're expecting and you'll be fine! read more

First-the good. The people who work here are always very kind. The bakery itself is super cute. Now, the bad. 1. Bought a loaf of sourdough a few weeks ago-it was not fully risen and doughy in places. I tried toasting it when I got home, but it was pretty gummy and Inedible. For a BAKERY that "specializes" in sourdough, this feels like a huge miss? 2. Decided to give it one more chance today. Went back and bought a sandwich for $20. YES, $20 (this was with tax included). Bottom was soggy-lettuce was drenched in dressing that had sat on the bread. Top was stale and hard. Chicken was dry and chewy. For the price, I was extremely disappointed. For the price, the lack of quality is unacceptable. I can get WAY better food for half the price. I am sorry to say I probably won't be giving this place any more business. read more

Located in the Capella Tower downtown, this is a cute little bakery that's open till mid afternoon. I stopped by there for lunch today. One of my coworkers had recommended it. The place is nice and clean. Good decor and comfortable seating. The person on the counter was very helpful with my questions. I got the Tuna Club, skipping the bacon and choosing kettle chips as my side. Added a bottled coke for my drink. The total was $18. A little expensive, especially $4 for the coke. The sandwich was loaded. Lots of Tuna, with tomato, onions on fresh baked brioche bread. Topped with gherkins. This was a very filling sandwich with a good mix of flavors and textures. And very filling. If you are looking for something different for lunch downtown, I would recommend this place, even though it's a little expensive. read more

My disappointment in the vegetarian breakfast sandwich is immeasurable! Before I get into describing the product, I'm gonna recap my patronage experience at this bakery. So I actually stopped by the shop yesterday morning when they opened at 7 am. Unfortunately, it appeared they were fixing a leaking ceiling, so a man behind the counter told me that they're currently out of commission for the time being and that I could try the store located on the first floor of the building. To my disappointment (which is the keyword for this bakery), the first-floor store had a limited menu with no breakfast sandwiches and six or seven varieties of pastries. However, the redeeming factor was the associate who was SO SWEET. She was so patient and professional, and the reason this place gets two stars instead of one. I ended up ordering an Americano and chocolate croissant, which tasted a day old because it was oddly chewy instead of crisp and flaky. Anyway, back to this morning. So the second-floor shop was actually open today, and the menu description of the vegetarian breakfast sandwich is parmesan, eggs, and gruyere on sourdough with tomato remoulade, which sounds heavenly. However, what I actually received was subpar. First of all, breakfast sandwiches are usually warm and comforting in the morning. My sandwich was neither of these things. In fact, it was barely lukewarm (and I ate within five minutes of receiving it). Though the picture I took makes the sandwich look lightly toasted, it didn't taste toasted at all. The bread was super oily from being buttered, though, so it could've benefited from more toaster time. And the cheese was cold and hard. Secondly, the egg was thin and anemic. The bread slices were thicker than the egg. To be honest, when I opened up the box, I thought the egg was a piece of chicken and that they got my order wrong (but I'm sure a chicken sandwich would've been more substantial than what I got). As you can see from my picture, the egg is tiny compared to the bread. They should describe this item as two pieces of buttered bread with a side of egg. Plus, why is there lettuce in a breakfast sandwich?! Oh, it's to make this pathetic $10 breakfast sandwich look presentable. And I don't know why there is a side of chips with a breakfast sandwich, but they were basic kettle chips. tl;dr SKIP the vegetarian breakfast sandwich. It will make your morning sadical. read more

Opened in the old Peace Coffee spot, but has a single barista (ground level- no pun intended) and a huge menu so be prepared to wait a long time if there is more than a customer or two in front of you.
