We recently moved from an apartment to a condo in Chicago and used King David Moving. They were recommended by a friend that used them a few years ago. They were AMAZING!!! Super professional and organized. I felt at ease how carefully they handled our furniture. They came with wrapping, tape, and moving blankets. We had pretty much everything in boxes apart from furniture. They were super fast, polite, and showed us where everything was placed. They answered every question and were so easy to work with. I would definitely recommend to anyone moving and at any size. 2 tips: 1. Leave your clothes on the hanger and put garbage bags over your clothes and tie shut. They were able to transfer these from closet to closet effortlessly. 2. Choose heavy duty moving boxes: When you get boxes for your move, get the heavy duty thicker moving boxes like they sell at Home Depot. I went the cheap route and used the cheapest moving boxes I could find on amazon. They were a bit thinner. Everything was moved fine and without any damage, however the thicker boxes would ensure nothing gets smashed etc. The thick ones can be closed and sat on without the box breaking. read more

Hired King David Moving & Storage for my move today 1/15/18. The scheduling process was easy and original estimate was close to final total. Scheduled to arrive between 8-9am and even with snowfall today, arrived at 8:45am. I moved all boxes myself and left only furniture. I do have quite expensive/fragile pieces and I was very pleased with their thorough yet efficient packing and moving. My bed also takes a bit to take a part and put back together, happy with end product! Only gripe is they charged me for 3.5 hours and I had my own watch and it was 3 hours. We had only 1 item, a wood/composite furniture piece, for a short local move. The 2 man crew arrived on time, wrapped and padded the item more than I thought necessary, and got it safely down stairs. They swept a little snow off the walkway, then moved and hoisted our unit onto the truck, and got it quickly to the destination. It was unloaded and unwrapped, and they were on their way. The crew and the office people were great to work with, and explained everything as they went. Although this was a simple job, it was done professionally, and left a good impression. We had King David move bedroom furniture (large armoire, dressers, bed, mirrors) from a basement into a one bedroom apartment. 2 person team - Martin and Melvin. Everything was very carefully packed and protected in blankets and taped.. Efficient but not swift and sloppy. They spent more time prepping than moving. The move was done with great care to protect the house and the furniture. We had zero issues. The team pointed out some bottom furniture edges that had water damage, exposed nails that could scratch and how we could remediate. Martin and Melvin were friendly guys you could communicate with. We would use again. We got several quotes through yelp to price out the move. King David was the most responsive and competitively priced. I used King David for my daughter's move - high rise to high rise, downtown Chicago - and it went extremely well. Their driver (Daniel) called when he was 20 minutes out. He was, at all times very professional, very respectful. The move had an added dimension of complexity as the freight elevator in the first building was out of order. They had to come down the passenger elevator, across the lobby and up another elevator to the loading dock. Having a 3-man crew for this part of the move was essential. They started wrapping and moving from the moment they first stepped into her old apartment and didn't quit until they had her new apartment all set up. My wife was so pleased with the move that she insisted that I add an extra $50 to the tip. It was well worth it. read more

I need to tell you how happy I am with this company because I am very happy I went with these guys than any other company. So they said they were going to arrive around 8-9 am and they showed up in that time frame. They sent 3 guys to move me out of my one bedroom apartment on the first floor in Mount Prospect to a two bedroom on the third floor in Palatine. We had already set up everything for them to take to save us some time and money to move out. They do take apart furniture but they didn't need to with us. They wrapped everything with tape to make sure that everything was secure. They even double wrapped our 55" flatscreen and made it look real easy to carry. They moved our stuff out faster than anyone can! When we went to Palatine I felt really bad because they had to go up flights of stairs to get to the third floor. Even then they did it really fast! The whole move only lasted an hour and a half! I did have to pay the 2 1/2 hr minimum but it was well worth it. It saved me and my husband the headache to do all of this stuff ourself. Nothing was broken and they were extra careful and fast. I would recommend these movers to everyone I come accross! read more

Used these guys for a commercial move yesterday (April 29, 2011). Absolutely amazing service from beginning to end! The lady who takes the orders, Liana, was a delight to work with. Martin (one of the managers) came out to do the estimate and then actually showed up as one of the three-man crew for the move. He was so fun to work with, very polite and willing to do whatever we asked. My boss made a few last-minute changes and Martin took it all in stride. Our move was a little non-traditional, even for a commercial move, because we were "only" moving down the hall from one suite to another. We also had quite a few items going off-site to a storage facility (later changed to my boss' basement). The crew worked efficiently the entire time and made sure to take care of our belongings. They also made sure we were 100% satisfied with each step of the move, and that was very reassuring. If we needed anything moved, even an inch, we knew we could ask and they were more than happy to help. They estimated 5.5 hours and came in at 5.75 hours, so they couldn't have done better to stick to the estimate. In the end, my boss was so happy with the move that he praised me and called it "flawless" -- so I have to give a huge shout-out to King David, Martin and the whole crew, because without them, the move would not have gone off as flawlessly as it did. Just used this company to move to my new apartment today. 3 men 1 truck and 4 hours later and we are nicely settled in. These guys were on time and well prepared! The set up of our old apartment was like a maze, but they were able to move all our big items and boxes out without damage and ease. When we got to the new apartment, we were done in less than an hour. They placed the furniture exactly how we wanted it and made sure we were happy with everything before they left. We just moved from a condo into a house. My wife researched a few movers and she decided to hire King David. I was personally glad that she picked them. Their rate was very reasonable and they were as professional as movers that charge higher rate than them. On the moving day, they showed up on time at our building. Martin oversaw his staff and often times didn't mind to get his hands dirty to assist his crew. They were extremely efficient and careful in handling our belongings. Professionalism beyond moving : I am not a constant Yelp user, but wanted to make sure everyone learns about over the top service i received from King David movers. I have recently moved from Evanston and since i was moving out of a condo, we had to accommodate a lot of parties: Condo Association, the date, the time, the location that truck will park, the size of the truck, etc. etc. KING DAVID MOVERS, not only worked with me to reschedule my move twice, they were even further accommodating by negotiating with my unreasonable condo management and the dates they mandates. Move itself : As far move, itself, they were a professional crew. they told me upfront what they would and would not move for the security of items. some items that i packed were too fragile, and they inspected the items and expressed their opinion on what they rather not put in the truck ( a very small selection ) to protect my items from damage. Assembly: they disassembled and assembled back at arrival my bedroom, the baby crib and furniture as needed. Time Management: they were under the original estimated time. Looking back, i think I should have given them a fat tip, but at the time, i was under the gun, tired and overwhelmed, but i think this message will show my gratitude to what they have done. Even better: I just finished unpacking and they didn't break or damage a single thing! Just based on the sheer volume of stuff I have and how much of it is fragile, that would be impressive for any moving company. They hauled my oversized living room furniture up to the 4th floor in a walk-up (they serve the city in addition to the burbs), among many other things, so it wasn't the cheapest move ever but they never stopped loading and unloading at a quick pace. My parents hired King David Moving to move their 3 bedroom townhouse in Wheaton to their new home in Wheaton. They showed up towards the end of the 2 hour window that they estimated would be their arrival. Once they arrived, Martin and 3 other movers packed all of the boxes and smaller items I. To the truck with 45 minutes. Then they started wrapping blankets and tape around all of the furniture. Protecting and moving the furniture in to the truck took about an hour and 15 minutes. Unloading only took about an hour or so. None of the furniture was damaged. I believe my parents ended paying $800.00 for the move. This was slightly more than what was originally estimated. However that was because my parents forgot to mention a few pieces of furniture when they made arrangements over the phone. They were also interested harmed for some used boxes because my parents also forgot to pack a few items. All in all, I thought that Martin and team did a great job. I chose this company based on all the 5 stars it has. Later I realized that most of the reviews are filtered and suspicious to made up by the owner. So I got a call from king david moving and we estimated a time of 3-3.5 hours for my move based on the info that I gave. I did a quick comparison and found that these guys were the cheapest, so I went ahead with them. There boys arrived at our place and did a quick inspection. They estimated 5.5 hours (as opposed to 3 hours). I blindly signed the agreement without questioning that and thinking that these guys will be fast in wrapping up stuff; and that 5.5 hours is worst case.. It took long time for these guys to wrap up stuff and took all 5.5 hours to finish it. One of those guys was dumb and wasnt fast enough to take lead and move things faster. I finally had to step in and start helping these guys. At the end I got billed for those 5.5 hours and top of that $124 for a minor stretch wrap, bubble wrap and 2 boxes that they used. These guys give all special offers and what not, but dont fall prey to that and choose a company that can give you a flat rate for your move. When you choose it hourly, they are likely to ripppp you off like this. I estimated my move to be $300, and I ended up paying $600.. not a good start in my new house for sure because of those guys.. read more

King David handled my May 1, 2012 move and my warning to all is: DO NOT SIGN AN INFLATED QUOTE and/or DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF THE MOVING TRUCK or simply book someone else. I was quoted 2 hrs via Email/on the phn and 4 hours in person (Elite Movers only took 3 to pack/move everything into storage but I believed the King David hype). I waited an hour for the (joyriding) moving truck at my new apartment while frantically calling the driver and Liana who told me "They were going with the quote" I had to remind King David movers that they could bring my belonging as we agreed and be paid on the spot or I was calling the police to report my goods stolen (its illegal to hold personal property for payment in a contract dispute unless noted in the contract) they would see no cash that day and they could take me to court so the moving team could tell a judge where they'd been the extra hour I waited/unloaded my car... The lost truck was there 5 minutes later. Shame on you King David Moving! Nothing was damaged but I'd never deal with this unethical company again.... I moved from the suburbs to Chicago and used King David for the fourth time. As usual they were great! They arrived on time (actually a few minutes early), they packed the few items I had not packed (TV, lamps), they wrapped all my furniture so it would not get damaged and were done in record time! They arrived at my new home before me (this happened one other time too!) and had a bunch of the stuff already in the hallway, just waiting for me to unlock the door. They made sure to ask where everything was supposed to go (if it was not labeled) and set up every room exactly the way I wanted. I liked that right away the movers shook my hand and introduced themselves before they started unloading the truck. They knew exactly what do when handling my furniture and boxes so I really didn't have much to do once they arrived. What I especially liked about King David is that they provide 3 wardrobe boxes and 3 regular boxes at no additional charge. The wardrobe boxes made moving coats and other clothes on hangers simple since they were able to stay on the hangers in the boxes.
