Every time I stop by to grab a bite with friends, everyone there is welcoming and ensures all of their guests are entertained. Food: it's good. All of the items on the menu are made from scratch and out of love. The prices are extremely affordable and the portions are more than you can handle. Lunch or dinner can get interesting, because you can get creative in the building of any of the pizzas or pastas. Atmosphere: very laid back. There's often sports games playing on the several TVs spread out throughout the restaurant. Most of the guests are usually sports fans looking for a TV to shout at, or folks that live nearby. There are a lot of "usuals" that swing by after work for dinner and good beer. It's a great place to catch up with a friend, or former colleague. Went there with my gf and we ordered a large meat lovers with a few beers. Mariah took great care of us. Had heard they closed down, but was saved by the current owner last minute. The owner challenged us to eat the whole pizza and he would give us a round of beers on the house. We did finish the whole thing with sheer determination. Mariah did give us a free round. First off, the pizza is absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced for such high quality grub. A simple pepperoni and sausage was way above average for the usual "neighborhood" pizza joint. The people don't play around. What made the whole experience though, was the service. Every person that worked there was extremely friendly and helpful. I felt like I was a guest in their home, not a customer. We were greeted immediately with a warm demeanor. Our drinks and food came out quickly. Pretty small place located in a sketchy little corner of the story/white plaza where mi pueblo is, but don't let that deter you! Pizza here was so good! The flavor in the crust was perfect and all sauce/toppings I tried were great. I personally liked the cheese pizza more than the combo and to me that just shows their fundamentals (crust/sauce) are seriously on point. Ton of beers available for purchase. The fiancé and I came here to take advantage of a restaurant.com certificate we had laying around. It's for $25 off a $35 minimum purchase. It's a good deal but was definitely way too much food for just the two of us! We ordered: - small combination pizza; which was OK but the mushrooms were raw which puzzled me a bit [possibly thrown on at the end? ehh] and the crust wasn't very crispy or NY style - one Vito's King Combo sandwich: umm, turned out to be exactly like a combo pizza, but in sandwich form. [Skip if you're already ordering a combo pizza.] More on this later. - chicken tenders with ranch dressing [should be better off called nuggets due to the size of them] were OK but the oil could be tasted quite prominently in them. Blechhhh. - tossed salad with Italian dressing [your basic of the basic-est salads, lol] - garlic bread basket [nothing special, just filler. Skip next time] A couple points are deducted from this experience due to: 1) the Vito's King sandwich we got barely had any meat in it; instead it was overstuffed with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, and cheese with just a TINY bit of meat. I would've complained there had I known, but I didn't have room to try out the sandwich until the next afternoon. It was quite a disappointment. Not only that- but it made my stomach upset. Bubble guts status! No bueno. 2) Also, this isn't a big deal but I also wanted to mention something regarding the rules and exceptions on the restaurant.com certificate. NOWHERE does it say that drinks (non-alcoholic OR alcoholic) are excluded from the total but we were told that by the owner. We even asked, nicely, if that was stated on the terms. I absolutely love Vito's spaghetti! The noodles are perfectly tender, the sauce is flavorful and chunky, and the meatballs are juicy. All you can eat spaghetti on Tuesdays, for $5 is the best deal in town! You get a pretty large plate of spaghetti with a basket of garlic bread. Meatballs cost a little extra, but they are worthy it. I've also had pizzas and burgers here which are pretty good, but my main reason for going is always the spaghetti. The family that runs the place, those guys are awesome. Very friendly and they always remember us and stop by to chat when we are there. The best thing they've ever done for us... We bring our young kids with us to eat, but Vito's also has a bar area where guys grab a drink after work or go to watch the game. Well, one particular time we were there with the kids, some of the other patrons got a bit rowdy. It wasn't a big deal for us, but one of the Vito's employees made a quick holler over to the group to remind them that there were kids around. Totally awesome people at that place! read more

On Saturday April 1st my son and I ordered a all meat deep dish pizza, a regular hoagie and a steak hoagie. The regular hoagie was average with the good thing was the bread was toasted but hoagies are never toasted. I didn't get to try the steak hoagie but my son said it was okay. My main gripe was the deep dish pizza. Not only did it not look closely related to a deep dish pizza but it was over $40!!! It just looked like a regular pizza with meat on it and it was a skimpy amount of meat on it. The crust around the edges was real thick. It was about the size of a large not an extra large. When asked about why the pizza looked like that, the person behind the counter said the dough didn't rise!!! Deep dish is not supped to have a ton of crust everywhere!!! The worst part was everything cost $86++ !!!! I could have gone somewhere else and got two large pizzas and drinks for that easily!!! Don't go here. They price gouge you!!!! read more

I've lived within a mile of Vito's my entire (San Jose) life. I don't know why I haven't stepped foot into this establishment. A GIRL TAKING A LUNCH BREAK Walking in, she didn't know what to order - a sandwich? A burger? Pasta? No no no. It was her first time. She needs to get a pizza. $3.25 for a combo slice. Crap, the guy at the counter said she needs a $5 minimum. Alright alright. Order a pink lemonade. Still short $0.50? It's okay, the guy at the front says. He'll let it slide. YESSSS. Thank you JR :D CUTE OLD COUPLE A cute old couple ordered at the counter. The husband made the decisions about what to order and eat, while the wife paid for the meal with the $ in her leather fanny pack. The two held hands the entire time, and walked slowly to the booth in the middle of the restaurant. As they waited patiently for their food, they talked about how the shopping center used to be back in the day. Once their food came out, they thought the wings were too hot/spicy, so JR took it back and gave them another batch with no sauce :D JR just overheard the lady mention it the spiciness, and took the initiative to make the changes himself. The cute old couple resumed eating their food, smiling as they sat across each other. THE SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS A couple of guys walked in, knowing exactly what they wanted to order. Two slices (with special toppings), with a couple sodas and a side dish. While waiting, they talked to JR about the Niners and other football teams. Apparently, JR is a Dallas fan. But with the most recent events, his #2 team (Ravens) are now his #1 team :D Sidenote: Vito's gives away Niners football schedules! Those were just a few stories that I remembered after grabbing a bite to eat at Vito's. After chatting it up with the regulars, they all suggested that I order something else next time I wanted to eat there: calzones, sandwiches, wings, etc. A great place to eat, where the regular customers and the staff treat you like family. 4 stars for the people who make Vito's the place it is today. I told the man working it was my first time and asked him what sandwich he recommended and he gave me the mushroom steak with green peppers and holy god it was amazing (shorter than I expected it to be though, still packs a punch in the stomach!) I went in today, and I was the only one in there wearing a mask, and no social distancing by employees or customers. There is a sign on the door that says they only do takeout but I've been in there twice during shelter-in-place and both times, I've seen three or four customers sitting closely at the bar with no masks. I prayed the pizza was safe before sharing it with my children when we got home. This place makes good pizza, but unfortunately, to protect my family's health, today will be the last time I go in after witnessing a complete disregard for others' safety. If they were concerned about protecting the community, they'd have gotten three stars from me because their pizza is really good and they seem friendly if you can deal with random snarky remarks from the owner. read more
