This is our favorite little hole in the wall, don't blink or you'll miss out Mexican spot! We haven't had a bad meal yet and they make sure you don't leave hungry and if you are, your leftovers will suffice for the next two days. The salsa is hearty and smoky, which is such a relief after far too many watery, sweet salsas at other restaurants. The chips are delicious and fresh and they keep the water/drinks coming. I appreciate the efficiency and professionalism of the staff and also the fact that they just let you be so you can enjoy the peace and delicious food. The inside is quaint and clean and parking isn't great but it's also not bad, they just share a small lot with other businesses but really not a big deal. The food. Oh the food! I've had different kinds of dishes there and I can't choose on a favorite but I especially love the fajita selections and the availability of fajitas for two. They are PHENOMENAL! The meat and veggies are always seasoned and cooked to perfection and each person gets their own HUGE plate of rice, beans, pico, guac and sour cream. They don't ever skimp on the tortillas and have no problem bringing more soft, fluffy tortillas should you need them. Their pico de Gallo is in my top 3 and I love that it always tastes slightly different and always fresh. We came here shortly after moving into our new house in the neighborhood. The people here were amazing and welcoming and so glad to hear that we were close by. We started with a Cadillac and a house margarita both were delicious and worth it. We also got the queso to go with our chips and salsa. For food we ordered diablo shrimp and Mexican surf and turf *substitute the shrimp for bacon wrapped shrimp for only a few dollars more. I would give it 5 stars if they would bring bigger bowls of salsa with the chips and I'm not a fan of the fried ice cream, which when I order it at other restaurants they ask what kind of topping we want and here they just offered strawberry and there was no cinnamon sugar on the taco shell. The chips, salsa and pico were good and they were good with refilling them. I got the borrego, my bf and friend got carne asada burrito and the super nachos. They seemed to enjoy it. Viva Jalisco has worked hard to improve itself and deserves an updated review. If you like an authentic mom-and-pop-style Mexican restaurant experience and don't mind paying a little more than usual, Viva Jalisco should go on your list of spots to visit. Since my last review, I've eaten here probably a dozen more times and will continue to pop in for delicious Mexican meals. The restaurant itself sits in a strip mall just off I-405 next to a self-storage facility. On the inside, it is decorated as garishly colorful as you'd expect, with Mexican music on the speakers, random tacky decorations, and Spanish-language soccer or Latin soaps on the TVs. The ambiance is perhaps a little cramped and messy (the front waiting area is particularly cluttered), and although the place doesn't necessarily feel dirty, there's something about it that feels old and in need of renovation. I've never seen the restaurant crowded (though I've only ever eaten here for lunch) so wait times are not an issue. There's no host/hostess, so you'll be seated by a server. All of the servers I've had are friendly and seem to be native Spanish speakers with good English, so feel free to speak Spanish if you prefer. Overall, prices are obviously higher than your average Mexican food truck or Mexican chain restaurant. There has been a huge improvement in the food quality over the last couple of years, though, and now you can expect generous portions of fresh, delicious food that is expertly cooked and authentically presented. The last few meals I've had here have been delicious and satisfying. You will find the standard and familiar menu items on a somewhat larger-than-normal menu. I usually go for the chicken fajitas, which come with your choice of flour or corn tortillas, rice, beans, and all the usual sides. I'd also recommend the Chile Colorado (basically a moderately spicy beef stew, but served on a plate with rice and beans). I look forward to coming back here for years to come. read more

It's been months, if not longer since I've been here. I stopped going as often as I had before because the prices increased. But that didn't stop Norma from recognizing me immediately. She greeted me with her friendly and warm smile. I love her positive nature. We ordered the carne asada platter, chicken mole, carne asada burrito and chips and salsa. From my one experience at this establishment I will never be going back here. I ordered one of the cheaper items on the menu which was about $17. The food came and it was nothing special but not bad. When the receipts came my total was $25 after tax with no tip. I quickly asked the waiter why it was so expensive compared to the menu, and they mumbled then walked away. Not walking to cause a scene I sucked it up and paid, this place will never get my business again and doesn't deserve other people's. read more

We have been visiting this location for years and years. The food is great and portions are perfect. The kids menu is extensive and so is the adult one. They prefer cash. Chips and salsa are out before you sit which is nice. I ordered cream enchiladas and they were rich. Parking is not always easy. Been here twice in last couple weeks. 1st split the lamb shanks, 2nd had carne asada combo w/ chili rellenos. The lamb shanks were tender, fell off the bone and were smothered in a rich red sauce. That night I had a bunch of their fantastic margaritas and walked away 2lbs heavier ok 3. Today stopped by w/ family and had really good carne asada and a cheesy delicious chili rellenos. My wife and mother in-law had shrimp in garlic mushroom sauce and that was fantastic too. A bit expensive specially you start drinking those easy to down margaritas, but knowing is half the battle. This place is located next to the bothell Everett highway and has free parking. It is fairly easy to find, and is part of one of those mini squares for shopping. From the outside and the inside it is pretty average in appearance and vibe. The curved mirrors make it feel like they wanted to go in a more modern decorative direction, but didn't necessarily make it all the way there. The service was great. We were seated right away, the servers were nice and checked in on us regularly. My water was always full and they brought the food out fairly quickly. The menu was good. It wasn't too long, which was perfect. It had great standard options which you would expect at a Mexican restaurant, but it also had some items that felt much more authentic in nature. That was exciting. They also had some Americanized things like Oreo churros which were great. The food plating and flavor was pretty average. But it was good. The tamales were good and I think I would come back to try some more authentic recipes here. read more

Everything here is way too expensive. And by that, I mean you may have to pay more than twenty dollars per person for a meal here. This is Bothell, not Manhattan. I hardly ever see Mexican food this expensive. You also don't very often find Mexican food that tastes so good, but I don't know whether I'll be able to keep coming with these inflated prices. Service is friendly, the chips and salsa are good, so it's nothing profoundly unusual that warrants a twenty-dollar meal. I tried ordering a lunch special on a Sunday but was told I couldn't because they only have them Mondays through Fridays. Not that the lunch specials are cheap: they're all around the thirteen-dollar range. The entrees outside that are around the sixteen-dollar range, so you're looking at a check of around twenty dollars after tax and tip. I ordered a chicken fajita burrito for $16.25, which is about twice the price that you would find at a slightly lower end restaurant. I get that it's served on a plate and stuffed full of delicious rice, beans, onions, and peppers. I'm just not sure why it justifies the exorbitant price tag. These people don't really do anything wrong; it's just that this is a standard restaurant with non-standard prices. read more

They hovered and kept coming to our table multiple times in the first five minutes so our ordering process seemed rushed. The chips and salsa were great. And the fried ice cream was a nice dessert, but everything else we ordered was meh at best. We had chicken tamale, chicken taco, enchilada, and nachos. I have come back many times to explore the menu. I buy 4 or 5 dishes each time because I love variety; I also try something new each time. When I get home, I open the beautifully prepared packages like a kid with some new toys. Every dish is a visual creation. Lots of details to explore. Then I put a little of each thing on my plate. I always get the coctel de camarones because I can splash a little of it on my plate to mingle with the other flavors. Then I heat it. Then I add some salsa and plain yogurt and now I am ready for a wonderful meal. I sit down to enjoy the experience. I love this place. It makes me very happy. I came here for lunch with my MIL on our quest for moderately priced and good Mexican food. The servers greeted us warmly when we entered and sat us at a table near the bar. The place is split with booths on one side and tables with chairs on the other. Our server brought us fresh salsa, warm chips, and a saucer of curtido-type slaw which was excellent. We asked for seconds right away. Their lunch menu is served from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and all their combination plates come with rice and your choice of beans (refried, pinto, or black). My lunch portion of beef fajitas was $12 and was enough for two meals. I wasn't a fan of the pinto beans so she brought me a portion of the refried beans which were excellent. My MIL enjoyed her enchiladas, rice, and beans. They are farther than I'd usually go for lunch but I'd hit them up again if I was nearby. read more

Viva Jalisco is now my go to mexican restaurant for both lunch and dinner. They are super fast at lunch. We arrived at noon one day and had ate and paid by 12:26! Now that's cool if you are in a lunch rush. Their carne asada is one of the best I have had. They also make an excellent tamale that is moist and succulent just as a tamale should be. Their rice I swear has crack in it because it's delicious and addictive, not bland and oversalted like most mexican rices. Their mexican pizza is huge and delicious as well. I also like that with the chips they not only serve salsa but also a cabbage pico type blend. MMmmmm mmmm. The servers are fast and sweet. One lady there always says "Thank you my lady. As far as the service went, We were greeted quickly and seated quickly. The waitstaff was quick to get our order. However, they were not friendly or engaging. Ok, that's fine, I don't need to be catered to. I was enjoying the time with my friend. The food was ok. The beans were over salted for my taste and the tamal was mostly masa. Overall, i probably won't go back there. I really want to support local restaurants but this place wasn't really worth the money I spent for the food.
