Thank you to Viviane for the wonderful Mothers Day Brunch. My husband, daughter and her boyfriend took me to the Viviane for brunch. It is in the beautiful Avalon hotel. The same hotel where Marilyn Monroe swan in the pool while she was an up and coming actress. There is indoor seating, and seating by the pool. We sat in one of the alcoves by the pool. The hotel has a fantastic 1950's retro vibe. Service was impeccable. Omelets made to order. The buffet had a carving station with 2 meat choices. The tri tip was delicious. Scrambled eggs, applewood sausage, lox, with bagel choices toasted by the server. cottage fries with onion and peppers. Big beautiful shrimp with cocktail sauce. Waffles, French toast. Fruit and a beautiful display of yummy sweet treats. The bar had lots of fun poolside drinks as well a full bar. And if eating at the Viviane, free valet parking!! My house made pasta with added shrimp was pretty cheesey and paired well with the garlic flavor grilled shrimp. This place is so great! I stay at the Avalon often and I wake up looking forward to eating here. :) First the food, I've gotten several things on the breakfast/lunch/dinner menu and they're all amazing. My favorites are the kale salad with an added protein. The hamachi crudo is *delicious* I'll be enjoying that tonight. Their steak frites and chicken are my go-to entrees. For breakfast I love their smoothies and their avocado toast with perfectly cooked-to-order egg. On Wednesdays they host the dreamiest live music and half-off bottles of wine. This brings me to the ambiance. The property is so old school Hollywood/Los Angeles. The pool, the palms, string lights. There are photos online of when Marylin Monroe was staying here. It's just perfect for a great meal and live music. Lastly the service is incredible. Everyone is so super nice in their own unique way. It feels really genuine. Came here for dinner. When we arrived, no one working the valet & no self-parking option. After dinner, same thing. Another guest abandoned his car in the driveway. And another couple also wanted to get their car after us. Truly pathetically that a restaurant has no parking in this day & age. This was a weekend evening, restaurant was fairly dead, as was the lobby, so not like they were slammed or this was a random Tuesday evening or anything. No excuse. read more

We have been here many times. But today was a disaster! We arrived today for our reservation at 11:30. Placed our order at 11:40. We waited and waited and waited, and then waited some more. Not a single food item came out. Not even any cold items, or bread, let alone any cooked items. We continued asking about our food and all we were told that they are short staffed, but the place was not even 25% full. At 12:30, 50 minutes after we placed our order, we gave up and left. The manager was completely inept and unable to manage the situation. A disaster worthy of Kitchen Nightmares. A little bit of common sense could have resolved this issue (such as offering bread to the table or some snack to hold people off) but common sense is not common. I had the pleasure of staying at The Avalon this past week (August 26 - September 3rd) while visiting from Florida, and I truly couldn't have picked a better hotel--or a better location. Everything was within walking distance, which made exploring the area so easy and enjoyable. What really made my stay exceptional, though, was the staff. The restaurant team was an absolute delight every single day--kind, professional, and consistently offering outstanding service. And then there's Carlos at the front desk. Every great hotel has that one standout person, and Carlos is definitely that for The Avalon. From the moment we arrived, he was incredibly helpful, always greeting us with a warm smile and a genuine willingness to assist. His customer service is impeccable, and he's a true gem of the hotel. We had Mother's Day lunch, like we've had for the last 3/4 years. It's close to the house, a chill spot with a chill vibe and we always have a good time. Normally the menu is fairly extensive, you can order french toast, waffles, brunch items and they bring them to your table. This year, they changed up the menu and added a buffet to the menu with made to order omelettes which automatically enrolled you for the buffet. The omelettes were fine (btw, the secret to a great omelette is using 2 eggs vs. 3) The french toast, waffles at the buffet were soggy/soaked from sitting in the metal containers. The potatoes were good, bacon was good, sausage was overcooked & dried out. The buffet was $95 a person!!!! So 3 of us had omelettes with a little bacon and soggy french toast & waffles, 1 of us had a burger, add a couple smoothies & coffee and our bill was over $400! Lovely spot for Sunday brunch. We came here to celebrate my friend's graduation and we all enjoyed it. The place was not too busy on a Sunday morning but I still recommend making a reservation like we did, just in case. They have a relaxing outside dining area with the pool in the center. I come back to the Avalon at least 45% because of this restaurant. Breakfast and lunch options are fantastic, including the salmon bagel board, the fresh and tasty yogurt bowl, and the shrimp tacos. I've loved everything I've tried. The /SERVICE/ though. It's so great. The team here is so welcoming and sweet. Jason especially is extremely attentive and sometimes I swear he can fully read minds (fresh cold brew before I even thought to ask for it!!!). There are other great things about the hotel, but this restaurant is a standout. I'll keep returning every time I'm in LA. read more

Fish was dry and it just wasn't well balanced. Not bad but not good either, just something to fill the stomach with. I also ordered a piece of chocolate cake as dessert. This is a true hidden gem in Beverly Hills... this is one of my favorite breakfast spots. It's a whole vibe by the pool in the summer and a nice quiet breakfast spot that's good and dose t break the bank like most breakfast in Beverly Hills. Lol. You can be seated inside or outside which they have heaters to make it note cozy on cold days. I've never stayed at the hotel but I love the food both breakfast and dinner. We went here today to celebrate our daughter's 16th birthday. We wanted to make it special; our waitress, Ana, was truly our partner in making that happen. Our daughter and her friends sati in the cabana, adding to the experience. We ordered chips and guacamole, fries and desserts. All were perfect size and excellent quality. Came here for a gals birthday get together on a Sunday early afternoon. We had a nice covered and heated spot by the pool. Very vibey and relaxed area that was great and comfortable for our group of 6. Kind staff and free valet is a plus. I got the burger for just north of $20 (typically LA hotel restaurant pricing) and it was tasty. They let our group sit there for hours without issue. They do have an indoor area as well that people brought work to do and chilled out for the day. Enjoyable experience and would be happy to return for seclusion and relaxation. read more

Viviane had escaped my attention even though I'd driven by it many times; it's tucked away in the Avalon, a lovely boutique hotel. Having received a gift card for the restaurant, I decided to pop in on my way home from a rather contentious family visit in need of a calming and soothing experience. The ambiance is pure Palm Springs: the palette is soothing and on the blue/green end of the spectrum, there's a retro feel to the design, and the pool is right there. In fact, I believe you can sit by the pool if I am not mistaken. The menu seems designed for health-conscious Californians slimming down for their next audition. At the recommendation of my helpful server Mark, I ordered: Coffee: fantastic. Rich and flavorful. An egg white frittata: Healthy yet delicous. Green Goddess smoothie: I'm really not into smoothies but this was amazingly flavorful and rich for being so healthy. Panna cotta: smooth, creamy and topped with luscious fresh fruit. And since happy hour started while I was there, I also had a Peach Collins which was refreshing and relaxing. Valet is validated and there is ample free street parking.
