Very Nice place... Nice staff. My only complaint is that I chose the regular pedicure which included a 10 minute massage. When she started painting my toenails I asked the technician if the massage was at the end, and she told me she had already done it. I recalled her doing about 2 minutes of a green scrub, and about 2 minutes of an oil massage (which she used to get the paraffin wax off with). I guess I was confused. Perhaps they should use timers like other places so that there is no confusion. If you don't mind the massage being skipped (which is personally my fav part) I would still recommend this place to someone. read more

New nails spot just opened in Montclair. A little more expensive than other places in the area. Brow wax $12 for basic shaping. Locals got mailer with 20% off a service so I gave it a shot. Full array of OPI nail colors. Nothing spectacular. Decent work. Quality material. I've never waited longer than 2-3 minutes the 3 times I've went. So far so good. read more

Second time visit update: At 1 pm on sunday I made an appointment with hailey for 4 pm. I arrived at 4 pm and was led to the pedicure area. Another girl sat down and started to do my feet and at that point here is how the conversation went: Me: "are you hailey" Her: uh, yes...well no actually I'm mindy Me: I made an appointment with Hailey Her: Hailey isnt feeling well At that point Hailey came out and worked on another girl's hands and then later on worked on another customer's pedicure. When I spoke to Hailey, she said she wasnt feeling well to she had another appointment...etc. I"m not sure what happened but I make an appointment specifically with someone I expect that appointment to either be with that person or for the salon to call me back and let me know that person isnt available. I may give it a third shot because it is so clean but not exactly happy with my second experience. read more

I really enjoyed myself here! The staff was lovely and the technician did a great job with my pedicure and gel manicure. I have to give it 2 stars because the gel started to come off literally 4 days after! I am very careful with my nails and have had a gel mani last for typically 2 weeks. This place opened I believe over 3 months ago. Everything got renovated and gutted out here- looks absolutely beautiful and clean! Vivian's salon is 100x better than the salon that was here prior- quality and customer service wise. I got a pedicure by Crystal. She did a fantastic job. The pedicure included the paraffin wax, which was awesome! You can tell they care about hygiene here. Everything was super clean. I have been here a few times and always been happy. It's very clean and classy. This time though my toe nails were not done well. The technician did not use a pumice stone so my feet aren't super soft and still have dead skin. She also did a sloppy job with the nail polish. I could have done better at home. It's an ok salon. Overpriced for a fill. I was charged $55 for a fill and two flowers which the studs fell off after a few days. They also rushed to do my daughter's manicure. I asked for the pedicure for her but all she got was a polish change. Which sucked because this was for her ceremony so I wanted to go all out for her and this being her first time getting one. She was more interested in her phone. My sister came in with an appointment wanted 40mins past the appointment time and staff was rude and rushed. The place was packed. They never asked her which pedicure she had decided on and the nail tech was beyond rude. My sister ended up leaving with wet feet because she was so rude my sister didn't feel comfortable staying any longer. Great experience if you can be the very first appointment of the day on a weekday. They are not equipped to handle a lot of people on the weekends and you will get a poor mani/pedi by an overwhelmed worker who is just trying to get to the next client. read more

The gentleman that works there has destroyed my nails twice now. The first time he cut my cuticle and it was bleeding so badly that a scab formed and the toe nail now looks really unhealthy. Further, he burned my cuticles on my fingers so badly they blistered. He seems rushed and careless. I have had great experiences with the females that work there, so I went back again hoping I would not land at his nail station. This time I got him again...I was panicking and asked if he could take it easy on my nails. He did better and did not hurt me, however, his work is horrible. I ended up at another nail salon that day having his work removed and replaced. I have read several other reviews that complained about him and I feel the owner needs to address the issue or maybe have his license revoked. read more

I was getting a manicure today, and while cutting back my cuticles the nail tech removed a large chunk of skin. Not only was it painful, but what she did after was nothing short of disgusting. The nail tech dug her dirty, ungloved fingers into the cut to stop the excessive bleeding. After digging her dirty nails into the cut she proceeded to attempt to stop the bleeding using nail glue. It did not work. The owner then came over and decided maybe her dirty, ungloved fingers would be the answer! So those were also placed on the open cut. I was done after this and walked out. The cut is still bleeding heavily 30 minutes after leaving. I have thoroughly cleaned it multiple times to prevent any infection they may have just caused. This is not the first time I have had a sanitation issue with Vivians Nails. Needless to say my family and friends will not be returning. read more

Finally!!!! A place that has paraffin wax!! my husband and i have been looking for a place with it. I asked a nail salon down the road, and they didnt know wat i was talking about. Aside from having paraffin, this was a bomb ass pedicure... i didnt feel rushed like other places that actually set timers. I felt so relaxed, which is half the reason i get pedicures. Massage chairs are a plus. Today was my pamper day, i just got a good trim at hair cuttery.... i definitely have to bring my husband next time. UPDATE May 2017: I went to Vivian's again yesterday in a pinch but specifically asked for a female tech. I was much more pleased with the quality of service I got. I got a gel mani and pedi done by Tina. Tina even went out of her way to suggest and find a different glitter nail polish when I mentioned I really liked a lot of glitter. If you plan to go to Vivian's, I strongly suggest that you plan to request a tech (Anna, Tina, Hailey, Nancy, or LiLi to name a few). You will be so much happier with the quality of service they provide! I have been to Vivian's numerous times get either a gel manicure and/or pedicure. Within the last 3 times I have been there I have left frustrated. Last time I went my gel manicure lasted about 5 days before lifting from the cuticles and totally coming off. Today my gel manicure/pedi took about 2 hours and is far from a 2 hour job. The polish is on the skin of my foot and I could do a better job polishing my nails. The gel manicure took forever and polish still is in my cuticles and does not look good. I have had to go back for them to fix services before and they got 2 stars because the manager is always nice about taking care of anything that is wrong. If you go to this salon, find someone you like and always make an appointment with them. Some of the staff are amazing but the some of the staff does a less than mediocre job, can be highly inappropriate when asking about your personal life and commenting on your looks in a quiet tone so no one else can hear (I know right?), and you will walk out feeling like you wasted your money and time. read more

I'm still on the search for a great place for a pedicure. This place only ok. I had high hopes but disappointed that the same tools/instruments are used customer after customer. The tray goes from station to station with the manicurist. Which negates the use of the liner on the foot basin or the tech wearing gloves. On a very busy Saturday, I guess my bad judgement for staying.The paraffin wax is included in pedicure. The pedicure is supposed to include a hot towel but my tech just used it to wipe my legs off. read more

New to the area and wanted to try this place based on the reviews here. I tried another salon in Dumfries prior but this one is far more elegant. A little small but very clean and professional. As a man, I like to get my feet and nails done monthly. Came in and didn't have an appointment but was quickly provided service. The deluxe pedicure was excellent and the chairs were very comfortable. Tech was courteous and even spoke good english. lol. Ended with the basic manicure which included some type of hand treatment with a gel of some sort (had to make sure it wasnt extra but it was standard!). Paid and tipped the tech and left. I just left this place and I was not pleased. The lady that was doing my nails was very rude to me. I kept asking her if I could have a manicure after she took off my false nails and she never responded directly to me...she just kept talking in an irritated way in her native language to the other women in the shop repeatedly using the word manicure again and again and again while everyone else laughed or sounded equally irritated for her. First off this place is awesome. Nancy is the best person here. No one compares to her. The pedicures last over a month for gel pedicures. I've never done nails but I've seen the great work they do. Outstanding nail salon, visited for the first time 10 Sept, I made an appt and was graciously welcomed when I came in the door, was offered a drink right away asked to pick out my colors, and my nail tech was Tony. Tony sat me in the pedicure chair and discussed what I was having and just talked to me like he had known me for awhile, he was pleasant and made small chat throughout the pedicure, and made me laugh most the time. Decided to treat myself to a manicure today. I have not been to this neighborhood salon but decided to give it a try. Unfortunately it was not a good experience at all. Tech started off nice and was doing a good job until I said "no thank you" when asked to upgrade to a more expensive manicure. Once I said "no" she became rather rude when I asked her a question and then just quickly piled on the layer of base, color, top coat so quickly that they were a thick mess. There was polish on the sides of my fingers which she never removed. The lighting in the salon is very low so it wasn't until outside in natural light that I saw just what a mess they were.........yes, I could and should of walked back in and spoken to management but at this point I was so aggravated it would not of been productive.......there are other salons close by that have wonderful customer service and don't treat a customer rudely because they don't want a more expensive manicure the tech is pushing.... read more

This is a terrible salon! The employees are rude, combative, and refuse to let a negative issue from escalating when the customer initially intended to just let it go. They speak in their language in front of their customers, which I know is typical of a Vietnamese nail salon, and it is really unprofessional. They expect younger looking Asians to respect them because it is an Asian thing. This was the case for me and they didn't even know my age. In other words, they made me feel like I wasn't allowed to be an upset customer. The issue didn't even start with me, but with a customer before me. However, her technician decided he couldn't let it go when the lady left because his customer had turned to me and asked if her nails were glossy, and I said "no". Her issue was that she paid $52 dollars for poor quality. When she left this male technician continued to ask me if I work at a nail salon and if I know anything about gel manicures. I started to get upset and said that the way he's approaching this is unprofessional and let it go. He insisted this is his job and he knows what he's doing. Other technicians had to get involved and butt their nose in my business. Then he continued to reprimand me about respect. I originally started going to this salon because there was a younger Vietnamese nail technician who spoke perfect English (without an accent), but I found out today she left several weeks back. That's a shame because I always had the impression a lot of customers wanted her to do their nails. Now I would rather pay $65 at a salon in Haymarket for a pedicure because I'm sure they know how to be professional. read more
