Many cringe and fear going to the dentist, but at North Bay Smiles, it feels like a trip to the spa as you are warmly greeted and may dip your hands in moisturizing paraffin wax to set while you receive your dental cleaning. At first visit, they send you home with flowers, and they have a special offer for free custom-fitted teeth whitening trays as a new patient if you mention it at your first full visit! (see their website for details) No other dentist I've been to has offered so many amazing free services and add-ons to make your experience special. As a health care provider - in training, I can really appreciate the level of professionalism and care that North Bay Smiles provides.

I had high hopes for this dental office when I first started going. At the time, I was living in…read morePetaluma and wanted to make the most of my benefits to stay on top of my dental health. My first visit went smoothly -- I had a cracked filling that was repaired without much issue, and it gave me a sense of confidence in the practice. That changed quickly. The doctor convinced me to place a crown on a tooth that had previously undergone a root canal. My prior dentist had been monitoring it and wasn't in a rush to do anything, but this provider made it sound like a necessary next step for my health. I trusted that advice. But from there, the entire experience became a mess. What should have been two appointments turned into four. I had to come back repeatedly because the temporary crowns kept cracking -- twice. Each time I tried to communicate that something felt off, that it was uncomfortable and gross to have a cracked piece in my mouth, I was met with attitude -- like I was an inconvenience. I wasn't being dramatic; I was just asking for care that should have been basic. What made it worse is that every visit felt rushed. I came in kind of urgently for the final crown because the temporary had come out again, and she barely looked me in the eye. While placing the permanent crown, she let dental debris and chemical dust fall on my face. At one point, she even grabbed my face abruptly. The whole interaction lacked any gentleness or bedside manner. Going to the dentist puts you in a vulnerable position -- you're literally lying down, mouth open, trusting that someone will care for you. After spending close to $2,000 with insurance, the bare minimum I expected was kindness and attention to detail. Instead, I was dismissed repeatedly when the temporaries fell apart, made to feel like I was a nuisance, and given treatment that felt rushed and careless. To top it off, all services must be paid for upfront, and despite the inconvenience and multiple return visits, there was no offer of compensation -- not even a basic toothbrush. And I was now driving close to 40 minutes each way after moving, just trying to get the work finished. I don't know if it's the materials she uses, but the quality felt low, and even now with the permanent crown in, it looks nice but I don't feel confident in the work. I honestly felt compelled to leave this review, which isn't something I normally do. But this was a stressful and disappointing experience -- and not one I would ever choose to go through again.

I am new to Alma Dental, today I had my first cleaning with Alyssa the hygienist. I am so glad I…read moreswitched from soco dental in rp. Alyssa not only gave me the best and most thorough cleaning I have had in years, but also provided me with more info about the condition of my teeth than previous dentists Ive been to. She also helped me with some solid recommendations to adjust my routine and gave me a whole new perspective on the toothbrush I have been using and how to get the most out of my nanohydroxy toothpaste. I ended up buying the oral b electric brush with the round heads per her suggestion. I tried it tonite and I really like how it advises if Im brushing too hard and it also has a 2 min timer built in, pretty cool! Another thing I really appreciated is how she did not pressure me to use flouride products and even gifted me some nice natural coconut floss to try. Im so happy to have a reliable dentist office to get my regular cleanings again, of course I rebooked with Alyssa. I would for sure recommend this place to anyone looking for dental work. My boyfriend also had a 5 star experience here and he is really uncomfortable at the dentist usually so that is saying alot!

I went to Alma Dental because I was having significant pain in my lower right molar (#31). During…read moremy visit, x rays were taken and the tooth was tapped, but no hot or cold sensitivity test was performed, even though I reported cold sensitivity. I was referred to an endodontist and charged $210 for the exam and x rays. I chose to see a different endodontist because I was more comfortable with that provider based on their reviews. The endodontist immediately performed a cold test, which clearly showed that tooth was highly sensitive, and diagnosed a crack in the tooth. Based on what I later learned, it sounded like the crack should have been visible on the x rays that were taken. That left me questioning why it wasn't identified during my initial exam and why additional diagnostic testing wasn't done before I was referred. I called Alma Dental afterward hoping to have a respectful conversation and better understand what had happened. Instead, the person I spoke with became argumentative. I explained that I wasn't calling to argue. I simply wanted to discuss my concerns, but the conversation continued in that direction, so I ended the call. I do NOT recommend Dr. Serrano based on my experience. I paid for an exam and x rays, but the issue causing my pain was not identified, important diagnostic testing was not performed, and my concerns were not handled professionally when I called to discuss them. I left feeling that the evaluation did not provide the value I expected and that resolving my concerns was not a priority.
