I was craving a really good burger and decided to check Yelp!!! Yes, I also refer to it and that's why I began leaving reviews! I ordered on-line and didn't wait long for pick up. It was busy and I thought I'd have to wait. If I ordered there/ here it would have taken about 15 minutes because everything was made fresh! Clean and busy with seating inside. I wasn't expecting much until I bit into it! We took it home and to our surprise, it turned out to be a double cheeseburger with grilled onions. Before I tried it I took out a patty to save for my granddaughter as well as most of the fries! This Combo is so worth the price , it's enough for two and you can taste the freshness! The burger is seasoned and grilled to a yummy consistency, the grilled onions are also grilled and seasoned to a melt in your mouth texture, the cheese which I usually don't like added to the flavor and the sauce that is added all made for the Perfect Burger!!! The side of chili was yummy and we dipped our perfectly fried potatoes to it. This combo is so worth the price and the portion was generous! I will be back soon! VJ's Burger is a MUST!!! read more

Great little burger spot that could be perfect with some adjustments on my part. Not everything is on the menu, but they weren't happy to accommodate if you ask. Ended up ordering way to much because they were accommodating, but that's on me :) Wanted a pastrami burger combo, which is not on the menu, but they hooked it up. Also wanted to try the onion rings and zucchini, which they were able to do half/half. $10 even if you order just one, so cool they didn't up charge for the split, but still kind of high. Best part of the meal though! They also offered to add chili and cheese to my fries, so really got to try it all. Fries were a bit soggy, so need to order well done next time. Only part of the meal I didn't fully enjoy. Next time I'm just going to order the burger combo with onion rings or zucchini and pat the up charge vs a full order for $10 and have way too much left over, but again, that's on me :) Up charges shown on receipt. My wife has been at City of Hope for A few weeks and while on my walks to get some fresh air I passed by this place and stopped in. Glad I did ! The food has been excellent ! The carne asada burrito was the best I've ever had ! The steak & eggs breakfast was amazing ! This is my regular place now while my wife is in the hospital. read more

I have been going here since a sophomore in high school. VJ's has great service, amazing, fast food, and everyone here is very friendly. They give plenty of fries when you order them, the burritos are huge, the burgers are some of the best, this is the finest example of a local restaurant. read more

I honestly regret coming here. The night crew is terrible, they don't pay attention to simple instructions at all. I specifically asked for no cheese on my burger and of course it still came with cheese. This isn't the first time either. On top of that, the food always tastes old, like it's been sitting around way too long. I've even gotten sick after eating here, which is completely unacceptable. This is a good burger. It's a super hole in the wall burger place, and the driveway is kind of tough to get into during rush hour, but if you are looking for a burger and are around City of Hope, you should check this out. Everything is cooked to order, so it does take time for your food to come out. There are a couple of tables to dine in at or sit outside, but it really seems more to be a take out type of spot. I sat at the tables outside and it smelled a lot like asphalt because of all the trucks driving by and cars getting stuck at the train tracks/idling. Prices are pretty inexpensive, but do note that the burger patty is pretty thin (and it's not a smash burger kind of thin), so just buy a double cheeseburger, or some other option with 2 patties if you're looking for more meat. They also serve breakfast burritos all day, and have a special burger menu worth checking out. I ordered the breakfast burger which includes 2 patties, bacon, breakfast sausage, hash browns and an egg on a soft brioche bun and it was pretty awesome. Would happily return for more. read more

This place is great, small, mom and pop shop, but great burgers, and sandwiches. The Fried Zucchini is awesome, they use big cuts of Zucchini, and great batter and crunch. Breakfast burrito, are huge and tasty, they come with beans, and not everyone likes that, so if you dont want beans , gotta let them know, I like beans so I like it. We are staying at City of Hope. Decided to splurge on burger and fries since diet will be restricted for 4-6 weeks. Saw the reviews and gave VJ's a try. We are so glad we did!. My husband had a double bacon cheeseburger and I had the avocado bacon cheeseburger. They were so delicious. We also ordered fries extra crispy and they were nice size order. These burgers are not small and the meals were very filling. Everything was made to perfection. It was so good that we went back the next day for two avocado,bacon, cheeseburgers, and fries before restriction of eating out. Its also just around the corner from City of Hope. There's maybe a handful of tables inside and another handful outside but you'd be sitting next to a busy intersection and train crossing with lots of vagrants walking about. This is a super casual burger joint. I've tried the breakfast burritos , the cheeseburgers , the tuna salad and the steak and eggs and everything has been tasty. I prefer their burgers to most main stream franchise burger spots . They have indoor and outdoor seating. I really like their outdoor seating when the weather is dreamy .
