I have eaten at the Star for close to 50 years. The main attraction for me were their double cheese burgers and pastrami. It's been about a year since I've had their pastrami so my wife and I purchased pastrami this afternoon. The size hadn't changed however the taste was not as expected. It tasted of Sriracha. The hot sauce must have been added to the cooking liquid. The flavor and especially the heat made our food in- eatable. We could only eat 25% of the sandwich. Service was good but if they had shared the fact of the heat, we could have ordered other food, such as their cheeseburgers. read more

I was in the mood for a juicy cheeseburger and yelp guided me here. I've seen the restaurant in passing but, it never dawned on me to eat here. The men in the back were hard at work even though it felt like a sauna inside. The service was great and our food was ready within 10 minutes. WOW!!!!!!!!! Please try them! I was looking for a burger, but I wanted a small restaurant and they had absolutely the best burgers. I was bringing it back to Las Vegas with me for my husband and I told them to put the things on the side and I'll reheat it at home. Been going to this place since we were little, when they were on the corner of Ramona and main. We now live like 2 hours away and it's a must stop when we are in the area! every time i have stopped by, they have been consistently good. the food is always immaculate and the woman running the front is always very sweet. this small business brings take out style american packed with flavor to the table. this is not your average burger, but one fit for a star. ive been getting the BLT but i did try the burger on my first visit and it was delicious. the meat is very seasoned and the pairing with their sauce was delicious. now the BLT... that bacon is always so flavorful and crunchy. my partner loves to get their chili fries. ive had a few bites of that as well and they're sooo delicious. i would say this is a great spot to grab some classic burger joint food, the food is extremely consistent, the service is great, and the ambiance is very casual. definitely a good stop for friends or close family. read more

I really wanted to like this place based on all of the positive ratings, which is why I came here, but it wasn't very good honestly. I ordered the ham and cheese omelet. It was tasty but the hash browns were burnt. My son ordered a burger which was good as well. My wife ordered a simple bean and cheese burrito but the beans weren't cooked all the way. At least the owner was nice enough to give us our money back. The worst part was the diet coke. Not sure if it was the ice or the soda itself but it tasted moldy. I have been looking for a decent mom and pop burger place and I think this place is the best place that I have found so far. Got the double cheeseburger combo with an orange bang. The cheeseburger was delicious and the fries were freshly fried. I like burger places that make their burgers with shredded lettuce and thousand island sauce. The burger could have been seasoned a little bit more but I would rather have under seasoned food than over seasoned food because you can always add more seasoning.
