My friend was craving for Pho. We were going to meet around Costco and I picked this resto from my Google search coz it's got pretty good reviews. We ordered egg rolls, my friend ordered Pho ( #21 ) and I ordered the vermicelli salad ( #28) with egg rolls and pork... then I was debating about the drink and the guy recommended Vietnamese Coffee with Boba. I love Vietnamese coffee in general, esp. the one at Lee's Sandwiches. This one has a very strong bitter taste and it tasted like they added some spice. I didn't enjoy it at all. I just took a little sip and I was done. I love vermicelli salad in general, however, the one here had a very strong spice that I've never tasted in a vermicelli salad before. It reminded me of Star Anise. It was overpowering the taste and the fish sauce that one mixes tasted diluted. I usually finish my bowl but I couldn't this time. I was disappointed with the service. After the guy gave us our order, he never came back to check if everything was ok, if we wanted a refill of our drinks, or if we wanted to order anything else. A MUST!! I have had VN Dish over 15 times and it is ALWAYS consistent. We get the #10 Flank Steak, #21 Bon Bo Hue, and the egg rolls every time. The food is always hot and tasty and our order is always packed neatly as well. The pho has lots of meat and the broth is steaming hot, the egg rolls are so crispy and delicious. Do yourself a favor and get an order of the egg rolls!!!! I recently have tried their grilled chicken Bahn Mi, and it was amazing! The grill taste on the chicken was perfect and the veggies are fresh and crisp with a nice crunch on the baguette. They are a family owned business and I always see the owners working hard. VN Dish is its name, pho & banh mi are its game. I feel sorry for shops in this strip mall at the corner of McKinley & Magnolia because it is nearly impossible to come here during the McKinley bridge construction/detour. The impact is obvious as we were the only party at this restaurant for lunch today. I was intrigued by bun bo hue, a dish from the central region of Vietnam that I don't see very often. The broth is tasty but it does not look like the picture on the menu. Specifically, the pork hock was missing. Oh well. Service here was decent. But it is a sizeable restaurant. I can't help but wonder whether that one guy at the counter can keep up when it is busy. I don't know how long the McKinley project will take. I am very impressed with the food and fast delivery. Everything was still hot when it arrived and the restaurant is a good 13-15 minutes from where I live. First of all, the way they packed the food was efficient. They really made sure nothing was smashed or spilled. Secondly, I've never eaten at the restaurant so I can't compare, but I feel they gave me everything I needed. Soy sauce packets, chili packets, utensils, napkins, and the veggie toppings for my shrimp and wonton soup! (Which was HOT upon arrival.) The soup broth was very flavorful and delicious and really hit the spot. We also ordered the combination fried rice (chicken, shrimp, & pork). All the meats were well cooked, tender & delicious. I'm very picky with meat and I can say there was not a questionable, chewy, gross bit whatsoever! That's impressive! Shrimp spring rolls and sauce were delicious as well as the grilled pork sandwich. All in all, 10/10 for me. The only thing I'd say needs improvement and it may not even be the restaurant's fault, I never received an order confirmation. Not a single notification. I was beginning to wonder if my order had even gone through. The app showed an estimated time of arrival but that was it. Luckily, my husband went out to get the mail and saw the food sitting on the table on our porch. I got the spam and egg bahn mi which came with fried spam, scrambled egg, cilantro, jalapeño, cucumber, a sweet and salty sauce on the egg, and the delicious daikon / carrot pickles you would expect from any good Vietnamese sandwich. This is my neighborhood Vietnamese place and I love coming here. It doesn't look like much at all and is located in a little strip mall that you'd probably drive by multiple times without ever turning in, but once you've been here, you'll be back. I normally get their vermicelli here. The best one is the grilled pork and egg roll one (#28). The pork has really nice flavor to it and is grilled to perfection, with lots of crispy burnt edges that add a lot to the dish. You also get two large egg rolls that well fried to be crispy but not greasy. I like the fish sauce they have here. It's really complex flavor that is somehow also light at the same time and brings the whole thing together. It's a really large portion for a really fair price. I also always get their pork patty spring rolls. You get two big spring rolls for under $5 and they're wrapped tightly with a decent piece of pork patty and they also include a sheet of crispy wrapper that adds texture to each bite. I like their sauce here too. In the past, I've had their bo bun hue, which was great and super rich in flavor. I haven't had their pho yet, but I assume it probably is good. And their garlic noodles look good too, but I've yet to have it. Somehow, whenever I come here to try a new item, I end up ordering the spring rolls and the vermicelli again. VN Dish is the kind of mom and pop shop I love to support. I hope they're doing okay during this pandemic. The service was great! We were immediately seated and throughout the meal, the server was very attentive and always kept checking in on us. The food also came out relatively quick. My favorite noodle soup of all time is bun bo hue and of course I had to order a bowl if it was offered on the menu. The broth was perfectly seasoned and was not too salty. I added some extra chili to it because I like my noodles with a lot of spice. There was even a pork knuckle in my bowl with was awesome. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! I ordered two banh mis for pick up over the phone. When I was ordering, I asked what meat options they had for banh mis and the lady said "pork, chicken, or beef." I ordered pork. When I got to the restaurant, there were MULTIPLE options for pork. I proceeded to tell her that she didn't give me all of the options and I would've ordered a different type of pork and if I could change it. She said "No." That was it. So I asked if they could possibly remake it. She said, "No, we already made it. It's not my job to read you the menu. You need to read it. So what are you gonna do if you don't want it?" I told her I would cancel it. And she said, "Okay, thank you." SERIOUSLY? You're gonna refuse service because I didn't know you had multiple options for pork? MIND YOU, I was on my way back from work and couldn't be reading while driving to pick up dinner. This is the last time I'm coming here. I recently did one of those DNA tests to see if I had Vietnamese blood in me. The tests came back negative, but I think they were wrong. I came for lunch today and the food was good, it touched my soul. I have been a fan of Long and Vi's for years. I regularly ate at their Gardena location, until I moved to the Coachella Valley. Now that they're located in Corona, I don't have to drive as far to get good service and great food. One of the things that I appreciate is that Long offers multiple combos. I love the C12 combo, which is a small pho (still quite a big bowl), 2 goi cuon, and 2 eggrolls. The broth for the pho has such a deep and rich flavor, without being greasy, like most places. The meat is always fresh. Every condiment you could want is on the table. I was looking at the prices on the menu and looking at what people ordered. These ladies near the window ordered some banh mi sandwiches. They couldn't even finish them! Each sandwich was cheaper than a 6 inch at chain sub shops! Long is always helpful and friendly. Apart from the regular pho and some regular dishes, they serve really good Banh Mi(Vietnamese Sandwiches). The assortment on the menu for these Sandwiches is huge as compared to other places. I like Lee's Sandwiches, but this restaurant is mom and pop and being a single owner it has a great menu. Also, the people who work there including the owner are very kind and humble, not like other places were they are blunt and rude. The sandwiches are huge for the price you pay, the bread is freshly baked for you when you order. Its made to order. As I am a vegetarian, they have amazing options for vegetarians and vegans. I have tasted the best vegetarian broth in a pho here at this place. It was so addictive. I ordered the fried egg sandwich and I ordered the veggie pho with veggie broth. I was very happy with both and I would always order these both out of the menu. Most of all the customer service was awesome.
