I used to come here quite often before the pandemic. Had a very much needed date night last night and it was great to be back. We ordered the large Belgian fries with garlic aioli and it was as awesome as I remember it. Crispy and well salted. Paired that with a La Chouffe beer which was also delicious. Can't wait to go again.

Recommended by a friend after attending a show nearby at LPR on Bleecker. Low-key bar with a calm atmosphere to grab a Belgian beer, or a glass of wine. The "Palm" was excellent on tap - the hints of caramel were subtle and not overwhelming, sweet and noticeable yet not overpowering. A really well made beer. Will definitely be back.

    La Chouffe!! My love language.

Wowie wow wow. This place speaks my language. All Belgians. Draft and bottled. Dark, cozy environment with supreme music. Give me more. More I said.

Spent some time at Vol De Nuit on Friday night. A tremendous beer bar focused on beers from Belgium that also offered a few tasty snacks and a very cool atmosphere. Quality: I loved the approach Vol De Nuit took towards its menu. They only serve iconic and delicious old-world beers, and make sure each one is poured as it is meant to be. I enjoyed a Delirium Tremens, as well as sips of a LaChouffe and a Saison Dupont during the visit. The Small Frites with some Aioli Garlic was a perfect compliment to the beers. Quantity: Pours are dictated by the specific glass for each beer. Value: $8-11 for Draft Beer. $6 for Small Frites. Ambiance: Vol De Nuit is a beer bar located in Greenwich Village. The entrance has you walk through a small passageway and into a patio. The patio has a fair amount of seating. Venture further to get into a darkened indoor space, which utilizes neon red lighting. The bar area is small and highlights all the old-world beer available. The many corners inside all offer seating with a level of privacy. The space has a very intimate and European feel. Crowd: Busy, but plenty of seats for all guests. Service: Excellent, knowledgable bartenders. Parking: Difficult street parking.

Pretty cool Belgium beer bar with some moody seating inside and a nice place to hangout outside.

We rolled in at 1pm on a Saturday without a reservation, but the hostess was accommodating and ushered us to the back patio. Seems to get busy fast when the weather is nice (20 minutes after being seated the patio seating was full, so definitely book ahead if you can.) If you're a fan of good drafts (didn't try any food) and soaking up the sun, this is your spot. The beer list is as extensive as you'd expect, and the atmosphere was buzzing, everyone seemed happy to be there. A perfect neighborhood find.

This space has a partnership with a pizza place up the street to order food but also provides flexibility to bring in your own food which a lot of places do not allow. They also allowed me to bring balloons and cake which many places also don't allow. I had around 40 people and there was plenty of space to sit down or stand. It wasn't too loud so I was able to have a conversation with friends while also enjoying the music. The music was great and we even stayed afterwards to enjoy the DJ and the vibes were still strong. After opening a number of successful bars in New York City, including Death & Company and Cienfuegos, DeRossi decided to open a new bar with a focus on rare, new, and unusual craft beer offerings. Originally opening in the St. Marks section of the East Village, Proletariat quickly earned a reputation for being one of the best craft beer bars in NYC. In June 2022, Proletariat moved to a new, larger space just two blocks away on East 7th Street. In addition to the excellent beer selection, the new location also features a kitchen that offers an array of plant-based dining options. I recently visited Proletariat while I was in the Village to see a concert. I arrived a few hours before the show so I could grab some beers and bites beforehand. Proletariat has been on my NYC craft beer bucket list for a while; they have an excellent reputation. There were maybe four other customers there when I arrived; I felt like I was entering a secret craft beer club. I really liked the wolf featured on the bar's logo. It was clearly a reference to the Latin botanical term for hops: "humulus lupulus", which roughly translates as "the little wolf that comes from the Earth". There were 20 impressive beers on draught during my visit. I decided to order a pour of The Drowned Lands Brewery's "Winnow" (Festbier). It was an excellent example of the style: light and malty. Afterwards, I went with a pour of Sante Adairius Rustic Ales' "The Sky and the Sea" (Blueberry Saison). This was a fantastic beer: nice and tart with delicious notes of blueberries. If you're looking for some great craft beer bars in NYC then add Proletariat to your list!
